      Well Kim Zmeskal sure proved you wrong! 😂 World champion 1992. Oops on you!!🎉😂 Also you forgot the corrupt judges especially of the 80s where ONLY Soviet or Romanian girls were given correct or inflated scores while everyone else was underscoring 97% of the time. There were far far greater floor workers than Lavinia. Many Bulgarians even and one hit wonders from other countries. I much prefer Sylvia Mitova floor 1992 over Lavinia. She was lucky to go up towards the end to win. Silivas was much much better than Lavinia on every event but vault. Lavinia could not dance to save her life. Terrible choreo as well and simple middle pass. Gogean was even more exciting with her catlike landings and fast tumbles. Lavinia was only good in 91 and 92. After that she got worse. Shannon Miller dominated her and Dominique Dawes was even far better than Lavinia but had bad luck at competitions. I’m glad I do not go by placings in history as some of the best floor workers in history never even got a bronze. I’ll give you some of the best. Groshkova. Baraksonova. Natalia Frolova. I also feel Brandy Johnson was superb on floor and was underscored. But that was the 80s when Americans were underscored by a tenth many times. Lavinia sorta got lucky here as Gutsu n Zmeskal underperformed. Miller took big steps on her tumbling here but was a FAR better dancer....but honestly Onodi should have won here in my opinion. I only love a few romanian floor in the history of the sport but I love TONS of American routines thru the years~!!! and the commentors thruout history even say how awful romanian dance and choreo is. The best from Romania on floor to me would be Dobre, Silivas, Ponar, and Gogean. The rest are very cookiecutter and rather lame. Way way to many American routines and gymnasts to list. The Soviets and American's overall have way way better dance and choreo and complete routines. It is not even close. Even the Chinese and Bulgarians have way more interesting choreo. The Romanians knew how to hit when it counts but they are FAR FAR from the best floor workers overall haha. Not even close besides a few of the greats that I mentioned the rest are rather bland to go back n watch in overall history of the sport.

      Milosovici is only 1 of 3 ladies to have won a gold on all 4 apparatus at either Worlds or Olympics. Yes Ponor is fantastic, but she's not singularly as dominate as Lavinia was. Two points
    1. Many people complain about things like her hop on her first tumbling pass, but should realize that she was being rewarded heavily for the originality and composition she showed. This routine was by far the most original exercise demonstrated in EF. Only Zmeskal could have matched her if she was fit and could do her Trials routine.
    2. Those who complain about her scoring higher than others should realize that she consistently did so. Both she and her teammate Christina Bontas were scored the highest in all competitions throughout the Olympics for their optional routines. This includes team finals, all around finals, and in this case event finals for Lavinia. It is not a case of a set of judges favoring her that day. She deserved it.

      They were smaller, thinner, a lot more agile and gracious. Now they are a lot more muscular, heavy and they kind of lost that graciousness that makes gymnasts like a butterfly.

    • @Margo-oj5yc
      @Margo-oj5yc 3 года назад +13

      @@StarDreamMemories Things are much better for the gymnasts now. Many of the gymnasts who competed in Barcelona were literally children who weighed less than 80 pounds. A gymnast's career was considered to be over once she hit puberty so they trained excessively and starved themselves to keep a child's body well past the time when they should have gone through puberty. None of this was healthy or normal and no fan has any right to expect a teenager to go through this. Fortunately things began to change in the next few years. Athletes like Lavinia Milosovici, Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes, Rosa Galieva, and other gymnasts who competed in 1992 as children returned in 1996 as mature young women and proved it was possible to do the highest level of gymnastics with a mature body. Changing the age eligibility from 15 to 16 in the quad that followed has meant that now gymnasts are allowed to go through puberty before learning the big skills they will compete as senior elites, rather than learning them with children's bodies and having to re-learn the skills once their bodies matured and changed. These have been very good things.

    • @Margo-oj5yc
      @Margo-oj5yc 3 года назад +3

      @@DrBeast100 They are women now. In 1992 Shannon Miller was 15 years old, 4'7", and about 70 pounds. That is the size and body type of an average 10 year old. We have no right to demand that athletes be prevented from going through puberty naturally in order to satisfy aesthetic preferences.

    • @DrBeast100
      @DrBeast100 3 года назад +2

      @@Margo-oj5yc it s not about aesthetics, it s about achieving a performance that can only be reached by being small and skinny. The weight is a problem for gymnasts, it destroys their bodies. On landings the pressure on ankles, joints is a lot higher.

    Where are the idiots saying that romanians played always "safe"? Nadia, Silivas, Szabo, Amanar, and the list is huge. Only frustrated people can say that about romanian gymnasts... in gymnastics, you need something called self-determination and stress management. Pressure resilience is called what romanians had, and this is the most important.

      It was amazing, one of my favorite routines of all times, but it had some very visible errors that would get quite a few tenths in deductions today. Besides the visible hp in her first pass, in her final pass, her chest was extremely low. Today, low landings get several tenths in deductions. I really liked the old system of scoring where gymnasts' exceptional qualities would compensate for other imperfections/deductions and they would end up getting a 10.
