More graceful less of power horses, although there were power packed lil ladies then too. Many things have changed not always best for the fans and spectators.
They were smaller, thinner, a lot more agile and gracious. Now they are a lot more muscular, heavy and they kind of lost that graciousness that makes gymnasts like a butterfly.
@@StarDreamMemories Things are much better for the gymnasts now. Many of the gymnasts who competed in Barcelona were literally children who weighed less than 80 pounds. A gymnast's career was considered to be over once she hit puberty so they trained excessively and starved themselves to keep a child's body well past the time when they should have gone through puberty. None of this was healthy or normal and no fan has any right to expect a teenager to go through this. Fortunately things began to change in the next few years. Athletes like Lavinia Milosovici, Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes, Rosa Galieva, and other gymnasts who competed in 1992 as children returned in 1996 as mature young women and proved it was possible to do the highest level of gymnastics with a mature body. Changing the age eligibility from 15 to 16 in the quad that followed has meant that now gymnasts are allowed to go through puberty before learning the big skills they will compete as senior elites, rather than learning them with children's bodies and having to re-learn the skills once their bodies matured and changed. These have been very good things.
@@DrBeast100 They are women now. In 1992 Shannon Miller was 15 years old, 4'7", and about 70 pounds. That is the size and body type of an average 10 year old. We have no right to demand that athletes be prevented from going through puberty naturally in order to satisfy aesthetic preferences.
@@Margo-oj5yc it s not about aesthetics, it s about achieving a performance that can only be reached by being small and skinny. The weight is a problem for gymnasts, it destroys their bodies. On landings the pressure on ankles, joints is a lot higher.
My favorite floor routines of all time- Lavinia Milosovici and Kim Zmeskal. I also think floor routines could be improved upon by using music that is familiar to the the audience like Lavinia used Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
Where are the idiots saying that romanians played always "safe"? Nadia, Silivas, Szabo, Amanar, and the list is huge. Only frustrated people can say that about romanian gymnasts... in gymnastics, you need something called self-determination and stress management. Pressure resilience is called what romanians had, and this is the most important.
It was amazing, one of my favorite routines of all times, but it had some very visible errors that would get quite a few tenths in deductions today. Besides the visible hp in her first pass, in her final pass, her chest was extremely low. Today, low landings get several tenths in deductions. I really liked the old system of scoring where gymnasts' exceptional qualities would compensate for other imperfections/deductions and they would end up getting a 10.
It is very unfortunate that this playfulness and artistic nature has been lost in gymnastics, yes the jumps and tumbles got more difficult but still is less enjoyable that it was 20 years ago...
The judges must have really loved that mount, because they had already decided Milosovici would be Olympic FX champion as long as she hit LOL. I think she was 1st or 2nd up and they gave her a 10 with a hop on the first pass. Oh, the 90s.
Well deserved gold medal. More difficult and better executed than Onodi. Milosovici had one hop on the first very difficult pass. Onodi had a hop aside on the 2nd pass and low landing with step forward on the last pass so Onodi's slightly better artistry could not compensate.
This was the true spirit of this sport. Strength with elegance. American athletes and most of all Biles ruined all this. I didn't miss her at all at the last Olympic Games. At last artistic gymnastic seemed to have recovered from those horrible circus exhibitions.
It's not the athletes' fault that the sport has changed so much. The athletes do what they are ordered to do. It's part of the sport. Get off your high horse.
I feel like gymnastics today are so aggressive that it's lost the artistic element. Not to say gymnasts today aren't talented, of course, but I feel like the art element has slowly faded away and it's now just about physical prowess.

Romanian floor performances are always crowd pleasers.
Think Nadia!
Not quite Simone Biles though
@@olivermccall9770. What do people like you always have to bring one gymnast down to rise another one up???
@@olivermccall9770 who the eff is Simone Biles?😂😂😂 I head of Nadia Comaneci, Lavinia Milosevici, Simona Amanar. BUT SIMONE WHATEVER?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Not always. She did the same tumbling to Romania folk music the year before and could not sell it. In Barcelona, she out performed Zmeskal with her version of “American Aplomb” and stole gold. Probably one of the all time best performances in EF.
No one came close to her till now. She is living legend
I really loved that. Never saw anybody do that move toward end where she had hands on floor and legs behind her up in air moving
Omg that first tumbling pass! E Element with 0.4 connection. That means its rated as the Double bouble stretched. Incredible difficult!
Lavinia, bucuria și campioana noastra! ❤
România a dat prima nota de 10 din lume in gimnastica !!! In trecut țara noastră avea zeci de medalii la fiecare olimpiada !!!
I love the “whip” backhand spring and Arabians in a routine!
Gina Gogean and Shannon Miller are two of the best ever. Romania and the Soviet Union had some good battles over the years.
When you're so powerful even the tumbling looks graceful: Lavinia M
Excelent, superb! Mi-a bucurat copilăria!
quality not quantity! amazing performance, amazing romania
Lavinia Milosovici - one of the greatest gymnastics competitors that has ever competed and performed - she really is the bees knees.
This is Absolutely the best floor work I've ever seen a human perform!!! The beginning defies gravity damnnnn
Always 💕 loved Lavinia!!
That was great, she did very well. Back when Romania was a gymnastics power house.
Ce au trecut anii , nu au mai aparut Lavinii in gimnastica romaneasca !!!! Noi cei ce iubim gimnastica , asteptam sa mai vedem copii minune ai gimnasticii noastre !!!!
she so deserved that 10!
Hey Biles, u watching this ? xD
Excelente. Me encantaba toda esa generacion dorada rumana de los '90. Mucho mas que las estadounidenses de ahora que parecen mas piruetas circenses.
She's Serbian from Romania. Much love to our Romanian neighbors.
отличная хореография,отличное исполнение!!! Высший балл!!!
When i first saw Henrietta Onodi’s floor exercise i was like “how is this not gold”. Now I understand.
Probably you are influenced by disco coregraphy part of Milosovici routine.Onodi is more elegant and graceful.
Both are great!
The best I ever seen..wow...can't stop watching you!...
Maravilloso video 😃
Felicitaciones 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Gracias 😊
I remember watching this in awe as a young girl. I signed up that summer.
gobsmacked that she was 15 here and pulling in perfect scores and gold medals!!
Wow...what a beautiful classy performance!!! ❤❤❤
Shes trully a great Românian gymnast
She's trully great gymnast. But for you nationality is morw important.. Little you
Wow, such a wonderful sport that inspired so many young girls.
Those two combo tumbling passes are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
WOW! Everything was perfect!!
Good old days.. no male aesthetics no robotic performance just pure gracious and beautiful...feeling like shes flying 😅 miss those gold days, even the floor wasn't a trampoline like nowdays 😢

Is it just me or were gymnasts of this era just a lot more efficient than they are currently?
Bravo Lavinia❤️
That is the best floor routine I have seen...EVER..!!
Guess you have never seen Natalia Frolova's 86 USA vs USSR routine. A WAY better masterpiece
Clearly inspired by Nadia's Comaneci choreography in 1976.
I prefer to watch this gymnastics over todays. Todays gymnastics is just acro based and its getting boring.
The great Milo!
Wow, amazing ! Feel like gymnastics were much better, back then. Would have only couple of years younger than her, at that actual time.
I'm speechless 👏🥇💗
The Andrew Sisters would be proud!
Amazing, musically she even able to change the speed on the tumbling…only the best can do that.. those who know that skill are and will be the best .
BRAVOOO !!! 🌅❤🙏❤🌅
Brava!
My favorite floor routines of all time- Lavinia Milosovici and Kim Zmeskal. I also think floor routines could be improved upon by using music that is familiar to the the audience like Lavinia used Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
What a pleasure to watch! Although I wish the video quality was better.
No Springs beneath the floor.
Ah, so this is what a real 10 looks like
m.ruclips.net/video/TRm6oAlJzhI/видео.html&pp=sAQA
It was amazing, one of my favorite routines of all times, but it had some very visible errors that would get quite a few tenths in deductions today. Besides the visible hp in her first pass, in her final pass, her chest was extremely low. Today, low landings get several tenths in deductions. I really liked the old system of scoring where gymnasts' exceptional qualities would compensate for other imperfections/deductions and they would end up getting a 10.
If this is a perfect ten then so was Shannon Miller’s all around vault. An extreme example of bias, hands down towards the unified team.
The best the best the best!!!
Que Impresionante esta niña 💖👍
It is very unfortunate that this playfulness and artistic nature has been lost in gymnastics, yes the jumps and tumbles got more difficult but still is less enjoyable that it was 20 years ago...
The judges must have really loved that mount, because they had already decided Milosovici would be Olympic FX champion as long as she hit LOL. I think she was 1st or 2nd up and they gave her a 10 with a hop on the first pass. Oh, the 90s.
Jealousy?
Perfect performance
Mamma mia ! Che belle le olimpiadi di un tempo con tanto pubblico 😞
That was awesome!❤️
Strong and elegant. Gorgeous !
Excellent...👍
Well deserved gold medal. More difficult and better executed than Onodi. Milosovici had one hop on the first very difficult pass. Onodi had a hop aside on the 2nd pass and low landing with step forward on the last pass so Onodi's slightly better artistry could not compensate.
I M P R E S I O N A N T E!!!

Things you only see in the cartoons, and its a compliment.
Simone who ? xD
extraordinar
Better than Biles, and she doesn’t have the 5” springs beneath the floor.
What an original, thought provoking comment! 🏆🥇⭐️ It's not like 99% of the comments all say this exact same thing!
@@Adelicows, how does it make you feel to know that you wasted 30 seconds of your life to respond to my comment and it was, at best, C-level sarcasm on your part?
I think the same... It is all about acrobatics, not about being delicate and elegant... not even the bodies look elegant anymore. I used to enjoy lots, not anymore. (I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARENT BRILLIANT CAUSE THEY ARE).
