She had SO MUCH talent, but also a lot of bad luck with injuries and not the greatest nerves. It made me so sad every time she missed another medal, she deserved a much greater career than she had.
nadia is the all time favorite, because she is very graceful, most of them performed tricky moves, but Nadia's movement is much asymmetrical,she moves like a ballerina, she made it look easier,, just saying., thats why people.loved her

I would have had Anna Porgras and Maria Olaru as honorable mentions. On the note or Porgras, I think there are a few Romanian gymmnasts that could have been great had things been different: Ban,Porgras, Cojocar, Rosu etc.

These ten are really legends ,of course Nadja is inviolable, but for me Catalina Ponor is an icon and my favorite , her fast rotations ,energy,her posture,her figure,not to mention her safe landing,maybe the best ever,she's simply worm ,evoke emotion,incredible is...
To me, she is the queen of beam, at least this century. Others (Sui Lu, Shawn Johnson, Carl Patterson, Iordache, Komova) were also great, but didn't have the longevity and consistency of Ponor. And I find the older beam routines (2004, 2008, 2012 times) more enjoyable to watch and often better than the current ones!
I like the list and feel you pretty much nailed it. Impressive group of gymnasts whether their actual gymnastics is your cup of tea or not. Milo’s second pass in 92 is still an all time favorite! Bravo!

Well, Nadia is famous because at that time there were a few real competitors - a couple of Soviet gymnasts. In my view, Cata Ponor is the greatest Romanian gymnast because she competed in 4 Olympics, and she won the gold in the 2017 European championship despite there were many and many younger gymnasts! Cata is the greatest gymnast from Romania!
In terms of medals, Catalina has the most in the modern era (along with Nadia of course). In terms of embodying the essence of gymnastics- that goes to Larissa Iordache. She didn’t necessarily earn as many medals but her charisma, sportsmanship and true camaraderie towards all who competed with her represent what the sport is truly about.

I can't understand why Gogean is so high on this list. She was incredibly boring, even in comparison to Milo and Amanar. I was surprised Milo wasn't ranked higher. I was also surprised that there was no mention of Cristina Bontas, either as a Top 10 or an Honorable Mention.

Nadia had something we haven't seen since. I can't quite put my finger on it, but if you watch her performances and compare to what followed, you'll realize that there's nothing like them. She had so much grace, she floated in the air like a butterfly and did not break character once. Artists nowadays have to stop and prepare for every move but she had an incredible flow. Every second of every performance is imbued with her passion for gymnastics. Watch her 1976 american cup floor routine to see what I mean. The only gymnast who comes close to Nadia is Olga Korbut.
She is the first that I remember, Comensci was too early for me, even if she was mentioned at the time. I heard of her and Korbut, but Szabo was the first real great that I saw. What you saw on the beam was breathtaking. how do they learn that? where do they find the courage? I fell in love at 11 with gymnastics and a very early crush on Szabo. It remains the only even o/s track and field I really care about in the Olympics. Thanks to those greats

She is the first that I remember, Comensci was too early for me, even if she was mentioned at the time. I heard of her and Korbut, but Szabo was the first real great that I saw. What you saw on the beam was breathtaking. how do they learn that? where do they find the courage?
I fell in love at 11 with gymnastics and a very early crush on Szabo. It remains the only even o/s track and field I really care about in the Olympics. Thanks to those greats
