Had many Sharks but had to maintain the filters very well. When I changed to a Miele because of this channel's reviews I could not believe the difference. The bags are amazing and far less work than the bagless ones. My carpet is cleaner and is revitalized because of the new vacuum. The life expectancy of the carpet would have been extended even longer had I gotten the Miele sooner.

Sharks are fine for in-between cleaning in highly used areas of the house. It's less cumbersome to set up and carry around for a quick clean up than a heavier, clunkier vacuum. It's also quicker and much more thorough than a broom (particularly for our dog's undercoat). Sharks are more like a broom replacement than a standalone vacuum, but i appreciate their lightness. It's a bit like how an iPad is an in-between computing device, but of course, not to everyone's taste.
We have a deeper cleaning vaccum as well, but only take it out every couple of months.

Definitely agree with most of this. Only thing to point out is shark does specifically show the front HEPA filter in the manual and states that it needs to be washed and maintained. Also with the warrant, they don’t stock smaller parts like electrical components because they replace the entire larger unit all at once. So if your micro switch goes bad in the brushroll, they replace the entire brushroll assembly. That’s not unique to shark. They are a total pain in the butt to service though and definitely have designed tech obsolescence by shark.

I'm on year 8. I have a 3500 square foot home and a dog (Austrian Shepherd) and two cats that shed a lot. I clean the filters often and make sure to not run it for more than about 25 minutes without letting it cool down before continuing. Mine is almost identical to new models as well with powered liftaway, and duo clean. I have replaced the front roller a few times and the main brushes once. If you maintain the pre-filter, the hepa filter doesn't need cleaned much.

I'm on my second shark vacuum and still happy with my choices. He is very right though about it being a vacuum for smaller homes and apartments. If I lived on a bigger place I wouldn't get it.
But for the space I have I does great work on the carpets and is very adaptable. Most places offer a warranty on shark vacuum purchases which I think is well worth it.
For the price I'd say it's worth it, Dyson are great but expensive.

I agree. I've had a rotator lift away pro for many years. The only things that needed replacing were the brush roller and the lower hose that's in the head. It was a pain to change, but I did it. Runs perfectly fine. Has way better suction than any other vac I've used in the past. I even recently got a new duo clean for cheap as a back up. I just discovered your channel. I am recovering Shark fan. I only ever used their cordless dual brush vacuums for in between cleaning of large messes, I have 3 small children. I have a top tier robot vacuum that runs every night. I say that all to say that I really did not ask much of this Shark. One of the reason. I got it is I was impressed with the 5 year warranty when you are lucky to get a year these days. Well 6 months in it failed in spectacular fashion. I called their support who proceeded to tell me that the part I needed wasn’t covered by the warranty and they wanted $85 fro the part. I tossed it in the garbage and and now on a hunt for a new wireless vac that works great on hard floors and for big debris that is under $500.

I returned it because the cord kept twisting and I just feel like it was a matter of time it will stop working altogether. It twisted terribly, worse than a typical vacuum. What I did like about the vacuum was the powered lift away on a light vacuum. I now have a Sebo Felix, yes it has a lift away but it is a much heavier vacuum. I remember when the first bagless vacs came out years ago, they sold people on bagless being cleaner, some of the old bagged vacs would be messy when trying to change the bag and some of the paper bags would break, creating a big mess. They sold people on the idea that bagless was cheaper because you didn't have to buy bags and your air would be cleaner because they used hepa filters. They sold people on the cyclonic action ordeal claiming that the vacs had better pick up and suction. Most all the problems with bagged vacuums have been solved but the average consumer still buy the bagless vacs anyway probably still based on marketing and infomercials.

Please do a bag vs bagless video. It baffles me how so many people believe the 'bagless=better' PR. I swear half the dust ends up on the floor, on me and in my lungs any time I empty a bagless vac. I switched to a shop vac with a HEPA filter bag and have never regretted it. Makes switching between vacuum, blower & wet pickup so easy. It's also kind of nice when the inside of your vac is so clean, and the outside doesn't get covered in dust every time it needs to be emptied. That wet/dry shopvac with a blower was the cheapest vacuum I've ever bought, and the best by far.
I only bought that one because it's a canister vac with a BAG! It's annoyingly hard to find these days, unless you buy workshop vacs or high end canister vacs. My cheapo little shopvac with double hepa filters somehow still has stronger suction than my commercial spitwater canister vac with a thin bag shaped filter (no bag) and a motor the size of the whole shopvac.
My disposable hepa bag even took on some broken glass, and still holding up strong.

So last night at work, I asked a supervisor about the vacuum he uses. He seems happy to say he's got a Shark and has had it for about 8 years, and proud to have a bagless ("without a filter" as he put it, which alarmed me haha till I questioned him more about that) and he pointed out his love for Consumer Reports which he's a proud member of.
So, as I asked on a video that seems to praise Shark on their review....How is it that there's reviewers that praise Shark, and then others that absolutely trash Shark at the same time?

I even used my back up vacuum and wasn't happy with the smell or cleaning of it, so I taped the hose and vacuumed over the carpets again and watched it pull out way more stuff.. also Amazon sells extra filters for like 7 bucks, so filters are no issue. I used a total of 3 filters in 9 years because I washed them once a week, and washed as in rinse and dry them.. All of the fine dust goes straight through the first filters in sharks and ends up on the sound deadening, making it even more restrictive, overheating the motor and killing it. What makes its way trough the pre filter and sound deadaning clogs the post motor filter, all of these things add up and slowly kill the motor, and this is under normal use! My grandma has a shark and i take care of it after every use, she thinks it is brilliant but the whole thing is slowly disintegrating, the anti hair wrap rubber strips have split in multiple places making it pointless, also it cannot pick up anything bigger than a grain of rice without it getting stuck in the brush rollers making a horrid sound and also wreking the brush further. they are impressive upon first use but if i was not here cleaning the filters with my benchvac all of the time and making sure it never gets overfilled it would already be broken. not to mention the brush at the front that gets clagged up with shit, shark is a shady disposable brand and the people who buy into there advertising do not have a single clue how to think for themselves.

You did not mention Shark's proclivity to use what I call "strange screws", thus requiring you to get special screwdrivers to remove parts that should be "user serviceable." I have not noticed that with other makes. I have salvaged a lot of Bissells, Hoovers, Dirt Devils, Eurekas, a few Black & Deckers and other makes over the last 10 years. That's how I know.
Regarding bagless versus bagged, I basically agree with you about bagged being better, except for one thing. With a bagless you can actually see how much dirt you suck up every time you vacuum. This means a lot to people that don't like to vacuum very often, or who like to see how dirty their floors were.
