I disagree entirely. Pesci's voice may be the same and the fact that he plays an Italian associated with the American Mafia but after that, the character is entirely different. His energy is different, he's a Mafia boss and more centered and in control with authority. He's more vulnerable and open than in any of his previous work. @@pradeep_sekar you're underestimating Scorsese mate, he can do it but why would he want to make a mediocre blockbuster when he can go and make a masterpiece with this incredible cast of actors.
I wouldn't wonder if Marty would do his next film with them too. Killer of the flower moon with DiCaprio and de Niro. Things have changed I don't know if it's such a bad thing that the movies are running 2-3 weeks in the cinema and then on Netflix I think for both sides it's not a bad deal. The big studios like paramount which Marty worked very often, Warner Bros, Universal and so are afraid to do creative movies like Marty does, they afraid of losing money and are just comfortable with big blockbuster movies like the comic films and action blockbusters, and Netflix should be interested to create even more content what they never have to share with other streaming sites. So like it seems that the Irishman will be very successful, we have to wait tho if that's the case, then if I would be Marty and Netflix I would arrange to stay together for his next films. They give him freedom and the money because they have to to secure good content.
How about stopping this narrative where Netflix is the auteur-driven Eden and Hollywood studios the cesspool of mediocrity where they can't work anymore ? I love Netflix projects, and Netflix films, I loved Roma and Okja, and a lot of their shows as well, BUT, lack of support for auteurs was never a problem here, and we have to stop entertaining this ridiculous idea. The Irishman was first backed by Hollywood studios, i.e. Paramount, via a Mexican financier. The problem is that Scorsese never properly budgeted his film in terms of money and shooting time, and the production ballooned into something that it was not supposed to be at first, because Scorsese decided mid-production to de-age the actors digitally. Hollywood never had any problem backing big-name directors. Studio execs generally think that big names will, best-case scenario, generate good reviews and good money, and worst case scenario, generate well-received films which, providing that it is an otherwise financially satisfying year for the studio, will at least improve the studio's image. That's why directors like Ridley Scott or Clint Eastwood, or Villeneuve get work even if their films are not always smash hits. Blade Runner 2049 was maybe a sequel, but it was a 160 minutes long sequel to a film that was a cult classic the original release of which was a failure, and Villeneuve was given 180 M dollars and total leeway and creative control for a film that had no chance of being an actual hit. And studios did it because the film had been properly budgeted and shot within well-established and respected timelines, and did not disturb the studio's schedule. Same for Alien Covenant, or Logan, etc etc. Now, credit where credit's due. Netflix should get credit for marketing discrete projects like Roma, which in terms of scale and size are mostly indie projects craving for attention on release, and maybe occasionally, traditional Hollywood doesn't allow that for projets who are not American-centric. But as far as big-budgeted filmmaking and producing goes, we have to stop idealizing our auteurs and demonizing studios. I love Scorsese, he's one my favorite directors of all time, and I hope the Irishman is great, but you see with people like Villeneuve or Nolan, or Ridley Scott that a lot of studios (not all) will back any director with any amount of money if they just comply to some basic rules of production. Scorsese did not do that, clearly. There is a difference between asking for proper creative control, which any director should be entitled to do, and asking for carte blanche.
Really? Youre lucky. I wanted it to be great, so after I was disappointed the first time I watched it again. For me, it was good. Maybe down the road Ill think its great but right now I don't.

Mister Pesci is a semi-retired film actor. Offscreen, He lives His Contented Life, like a Contented Cat, with Nine Lives(not in a can), but He's No Pussy. Those 3 Words, I would never utter around The Cat With Nine Lives: Mister Joe Pesci. They Call Him: Mister Pesci. Sounds like Scorcese could create his own Scorcese Universe of Deaging Films. Beginning with: They Call Him Joe Pesci. Mister Pesci may be 79...and...counting...but...He can still speak. Short but definite. "No". It got the audience's attention. It got Our attention. I've been watching De Niro interviews the old ones and the new ones, and I can say, he seems like he is a shy person and he is not a guy who invites in a conversation, but, he becomes one of greatest actors ever and for me personally he is the best ever. That's an interesting thing to me.
AS Red eye he’s def in the top 5 but no way is he as good as DDL or jack or Gary
@Arnold101Knight The richest, no doubt.
I feel like being a great actor is most natural for introvert people who observe others deeply and thoughtfully - so it’s funny they’re in the spotlight from their work
Few decades from now, these four gentlemem won't be around, and it'll kind of break me. Legends.
More like hopefully a decade from now.
Few decades? They pushing 80 now...It will be sad though, some of the best actors ever on film

Why would you say that?!
Now I gotta try not too think about that shit
I've literally waited 19 years for this movie to be made I'm so glad they finally got it made and with the best of the best as far as actors not to mention Joe Pesci Al Pacino Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel all in the same movie. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS!!!!!

@@fergalhughes165 They didn't work together in much films because Al Pacino like to rehearse and dinero likes to be spontaneous.
