Summary Patch released about 15 minutes ago seems to have shored up the FPS as well good news! Not an amazing game. But really enjoyable and really excellent control and a very interesting world space for me. If you are not a fan of these kinds of games though, then your not going to suddenly be one. But 6-8 hours at this price aint bad for this game. Also for fans the youtube gaming side has the new paypal/youtube membership link if you don't want to do patreon gaming.ruclips.net/channel/UCK9_x1DImhU-eolIay5rb2Q
I have a question for you. What's your take on the HUD? I ask because I spoke with the devs on discord and RUclips and I told them I didn't like it as it doesn't fit the aesthetics of the game world and looks very bland. Do you have an opinion of this?
I don't really see the Abzu / Journey comparisons from gameplay yet, but I've been keeping an eye on this game for a while now and can't wait to try it out tomorrow and find out more, thanks for the great video!
I was wondering about this too - It doesn't really seem to have the Journey/Abzu anagle as far as I can tell, though I only watched the review footage. At the very least, it looks like if it is there, there's other aspects from other genres/sub-genres that appear to be more prominent than the "moody/atmospheric walking simulator" that has come to define Journey/Abzu. If you get further in and think his assessment is right in this regard (or confirm that it's mostly malarkey), you should respond to this Comment a bit down the line when you play it some more. I'm definitely always on the lookout for another Journey/Abzu clone (*Glances over at Bound with VR support*), but I dunno' if this game fits the bill...
ACG I know this is your full time job but you can spit out 2 or 3 games in a few days. You should have taken some time off during the summer but I guess the summer has passed.
Yeah; I spent 7 hours on this yesterday and still find myself with so much to do and enjoy, only having barely obtained grapple and all the collectables I've come across, yet I'm still missing a lot, so I don't really think it's fair to say it's an 8-hour game, but whatever. Still wondering wether I should craft the green or purple ruined I have schematics for first, after I get one more Corrupted Butterfly.
I really liked the addition of how you think other people might perceive things differently than you. This truly feels like you're going in the right direction for reviews in general! Keep up the good work
this isnt my type of game but. i just wanted to let you know i subbed about a year ago after watching you witcher 3 review, where i said when i can finally patron "you will be the first i will" just letting you know that has not changed. sorry RUclips has become so toxic to content creators but keep doing you!
I always respect a dev for trying new things, this will make them better in the long run, especially since it seems like they succeeded with this one. Thanks for the review Karak!
Best video game review channel on youtube hands down. Interesting and vivid as well as comical but believable most of all. I also appreciate the choice of games reviewed as it brings games I may never have seen to my attention. Whether its a game I'm considering purchasing or just to hear your take on "insert title" definitely never leave disappointed.
Great review as always. I played a bit of this before work and it seems like it's going to be pretty cool. I didn't know you could have upgrades and I ran into a thing that hints at maybe there's different skins you can choose for your character when you unlock them. Those are always nice features in games. Looking forward to playing it more when I get off!
Would love if you had a chance to review Darkwood, I know so many folks are tired of the survival horror genre but it really does a good job of changing it the slight bit to make it feel new and fresh, even more so since the horror is based around the theme, sound and story rather then jump scares.
Both Torchlight games are really good, especially the first one. Given Runic Games' success with the Torchlight franchise I have some pretty high expectations when it comes to Hob. The game looks pretty and is vibrant. The controls work really well which is always important in any video game. The camera is an issue as is the game's FPS. There really isn't much when it comes to enemy variety. Despite a few wrinkles, I'm definitely going to give this game a shot. Thanks Karak for another awesome review!
This game has been on my Steam wish list since the beginning. The reason why I hesitate to get this beautiful, original, and well crafted game by a very reputable company is that I don't think I can handle running around alone without fighting for so long (though in the RPGs I play there are other things to interact with). Not a complaint; just what I'm thinking. Great review by the way. Thanks a lot. Bring on Torchlight Frontiers!
Thank you for another great review. I never heard of this game before, but it looks awesome. For some reason, it gives me a bit of a Hyper Light Drifter vibe, and I loved that game, so I'll definitely consider buying this one.
man! I couldn't find a review so I said oh well Im gonna go for it and hope its good, so i bought it and after I downloaded it then! I see your review :( ... I almost didn't watch your review for fear , I thought ... what if it sucks? but then i thought oh well let me watch it and man! im so glad you liked it! great review as always! thank you for taking the time :D ps.. how about a review for "RUINER" ?? :) its also coming out tomorrow so????....
I would've NEVER heard about this game if it weren't for this review. This is why I'm glad I'm subbed. Definitely getting this. Titles like these are perfect for me. Thanks.
What a great review! Nice job! I downloaded HoB last night and booted it up for a few minutes to see what it looks like and how it controls and I was so bummed I had to go to sleep! I can't wait to sit down with it and give it the time attention it definitely seems to deserve. Also, it sounds like you would absolutely love Rime. If you haven't played it yet, you must!
It looks like a nice journey type of game. Also reminds me of Rime and the character looks like out of a Magicka game. Thanks for bringing this game to my attention, and good job on the review, as always!
OMG, I had a good laugh at the "where's TL3 bit" LOL. I said that same line the first time I saw the trailer for Hob, glad to see Runic making games but damn I really wish they would have further developed TL2 with an expansion of some sort or a reliable multiplayer experience since the end game was pretty bland forcing you to MOD for Synergies.
"So as you guys know I rate games on a buy, wait for sale, rent, never touch it rating scale" Finally I understand what you are saying 😂, you talk too fast
How do you always produce these high quality review? The writing is so good. I like how play with your words when describing a certain subject or detail.
*SNAPS* I got it! I finally know which game reviewer you remind me of after watching plus 20 of your reviews. You remind me of Adam Sessler...except with actually something to say about the games you review instead of saying a whole lot of nothing.
Awesome review, as always! The game looks like something I would adore. How is the frame rate on PS4 Pro? Rewatched the review but didn't hear you mentioning it.
I know, right? I really hope Runic will go back to T3, imagine what they can pull off for this gen considering the jump up in scale and quality from T1 to T2!
I live right across the street from their studio and about a month ago I saw Joseph at a coffee shop and asked them if Torchlight 3 was a thing. He looked right at me and smiled and said "well, for now, let's just say it's not not a thing." True story.
After the debacle that is Torchlight mobile I can see them wanting to eventually bring a little respect back to their maligned IP. I think they just needed a break from arpg's.
I dont know but something about this game's art style seriously pisses me off. I have no idea what it is and have never really felt this way about a game's artstyle or the way one looks. I dont know if it is the camera angle or the shadows or the geometry of the environment or something else, but something seems incredibly off to me, hell my head was aching after just watching the review.
Oh man, I forgot this was coming out. I never played Journey or Abzu, but they do look beautiful. I'm definitely going to pick this game up though, simply because I have complete faith in the devs and want to support them. If I end up falling in love with this sort of atmospheric puzzler genre, so be it.
Steam and PSN are showing $19.99 for me, not $17.99. I'll get it though. Love these type of games :) Also I know it came out a few weeks ago, but are you going to review Rock of Ages 2? I'd love to hear your opinion on it. :)
PLEASE make a Hob / torchlight sort of game where we have the combat and movement of hob with controller support in a modified torchlight world with the loot system, mobs, bosses etc.
This has piqued my interest, £13.49 for a bonnie looking 3D puzzle platformer, I can't see anything wrong with that. You've convinced me, I'm buying it when I wake up in the morning. Cheers.
would you recommend this game for me; I'm really looking for something like Legend of Zelda BOTW and is this similar? I'm not into RPGs or MOBAs and at first I thought Hob was one of those but I'm not sure whether to get it or not...
Why do I have a feeling this game is just an elaborate test of all the tools and mechanics that they will eventually use in Torchlight 3. Cos this game is priced quite reasonably for what you 'experience' and I am left with the feeling that there is a LOT more potential with what they can do with it.
Karak's To-Do List: Eat, Sleep, Review Games
Karak: "I guess 1 out of 3 is good enough."

ACG Love the review Karak, but were you first, or was I first?
ACG do fm7
Great review. Just pre ordered waiting to play it :) thanks!
seriously ignore 2K and people some reason defend 2K terrible practices this shit needs to stop when we are paying for full price game
I have a question for you. What's your take on the HUD? I ask because I spoke with the devs on discord and RUclips and I told them I didn't like it as it doesn't fit the aesthetics of the game world and looks very bland. Do you have an opinion of this?
Not even considering buying this game but still watch this cause u know an acg video is going to be quality
thanks
ACG it's all good bro keep bringing out the best reviews on RUclips and I'll keep watching
Isaac Rushworth you're crazy. This game is going to be awesome.
Looks okay but nothing special. I find myself saying that about a lot of games these days.
When he reviews the sounds of the game, I would like to hear them.
HOW do you produce so many quality reviews so frequently, you beautiful bearded gaming god?!
Seth D Robertson Karak has a clone army
You had me at "painting happy clouds for god." Subscribed.
Thanks man
One of the best of all time for me. Reminded me of the first time I picked up NES Zelda. No hints and tips, just off to explore.
I don't really see the Abzu / Journey comparisons from gameplay yet, but I've been keeping an eye on this game for a while now and can't wait to try it out tomorrow and find out more, thanks for the great video!

My goodness. ACG must be a workaholic. Man you spit out reviews. You do finish all your games? I trust ACG reviews and rarely disagree with his views.
I am that yes lol
ACG I know this is your full time job but you can spit out 2 or 3 games in a few days.
You should have taken some time off during the summer but I guess the summer has passed.

Very detailed and fleshed out as always. Pretty bummed ACG never reviewed the recent Dishonored standalone.
Just finished this game and I love it. There are some bugs, not to mention lag, but they weren't enough to hinder my enjoyment.
I would love a Torchlight 3, but I also love Journey. Thanks for the pre-release review! Enough time to take advantage of the 20% discount
Thank you for everything that you do. All the work that you put into these videos definitely shows and I just wanted to let you know.
I really liked the addition of how you think other people might perceive things differently than you. This truly feels like you're going in the right direction for reviews in general! Keep up the good work

The way you say, "Sound, music and voice" is so iconic!
I always respect a dev for trying new things, this will make them better in the long run, especially since it seems like they succeeded with this one. Thanks for the review Karak!
Was expecting a review. Can't wait to play later this week! This game is right up my alley.
Best video game review channel on youtube hands down. Interesting and vivid as well as comical but believable most of all. This game is amazing! Super creative and enjoyed it last night. Can't wait to keep playing.
Been looking forward to this game.. Let’s see what you have to say. Hoping it’s as good as it has been looking. The Torchlight games were awesome
"hat so cool it's got 2 price tags" lol made my day 😂😂
Great review as always. I played a bit of this before work and it seems like it's going to be pretty cool. I didn't know you could have upgrades and I ran into a thing that hints at maybe there's different skins you can choose for your character when you unlock them. 3d hyper light drifter? Okay :D

camera and fps drops does hurt the game, I'm probably going wait on this game and see if they patch up the issues, if not I'll wait on price cut
This game has been on my Steam wish list since the beginning. The reason why I hesitate to get this beautiful, original, and well crafted game by a very reputable company is that I don't think I can handle running around alone without fighting for so long (though in the RPGs I play there are other things to interact with). Best reviewer in the industry right here! Great job. I love your videos.
Do we know if HOB has any PS4 Pro enhancements? HDR? FPS? Thanks
Now on huge sale on GoG - 75% off. Great review!
Thank you for another great review.
I never heard of this game before, but it looks awesome. For some reason, it gives me a bit of a Hyper Light Drifter vibe, and I loved that game, so I'll definitely consider buying this one.
Picked it up in the Steam sale, it's really great so far. I didn't expect the game to be this good.
I torrented the GOG version, just to try it out. I played about 20 minutes and I love it!! I bought it straight away.
Thanks for this review! Super fun and useful as always!
Wizards. Great reference... I'm also getting a strong Hellboy vibe with a smidgen of Hyper Light Drifter.
Great video and "happy clouds for God" was funny
It's gorgeous.. I just wish there was more combat like a Zelda title. Just my personal preference. I like a good balance between puzzles and combat.
I would've NEVER heard about this game if it weren't for this review. This is why I'm glad I'm subbed. Definitely getting this. Titles like these are perfect for me. Thanks.
I was almost certainly gonna get this game but wanted to wait for your review to be sure. Glad you liked it and I'll be picking it up tomorrow.
Great review man. This is my first time hearing about this game, looks like a buy for me too. Stay up homie.
ACG, you make the best reviews. Please make us one for Steamworld Dig 2 🙏😁
You are hands down my favourite person I seek for all reviews. Keep up the good work! :)
It looks like a nice journey type of game. Also reminds me of Rime and the character looks like out of a Magicka game. Thanks for bringing this game to my attention, and good job on the review, as always!

Do you think you’ll amend this review or do a quick look at Hob for Switch?
I did preorder but I love your reviews. 😀
But seriously, where's torchlight 3?
I know, right? I really hope Runic will go back to T3, imagine what they can pull off for this gen considering the jump up in scale and quality from T1 to T2!
I live right across the street from their studio and about a month ago I saw Joseph at a coffee shop and asked them if Torchlight 3 was a thing. He looked right at me and smiled and said "well, for now, let's just say it's not not a thing." True story.
After the debacle that is Torchlight mobile I can see them wanting to eventually bring a little respect back to their maligned IP. I think they just needed a break from arpg's.
Torchlight 1 and 2 are some of the most boring and mind numbing action RPGs I've ever played. Hopefully they leave that whole series behind.
Fucking loved TL1 & 2.
I dont know but something about this game's art style seriously pisses me off. I have no idea what it is and have never really felt this way about a game's artstyle or the way one looks. Ruiner and Caphead this week! Hopefully you'll do one of them bro~Anyway, super duper nice video, I'm buying this game now
I didn't know this game existed but I definitely plan on buying this down the road. That's why I love your reviews man, well done
Just got back to tl2. Loving it still. Might get this down the line.
I hadn't even heard of this game, but this is why I love ACG. This'll be the next game I pick up. It looks right up my alley. Thanks!
I'm excited to finally play this on Switch
Definitely a buy for me.
I don't know if you plan on reviewing it or not but FYI: RUINER is a fantastic twin stick shooter!
Thanks for the early review! You're the best, ACG!
Anyone know if this is 60fps on PS4?
Damn!! Already!!?? GZ!! Greetings from Croatia (it's 1:02 am here :D )
thanks for the support
Susjed Pozdrav i tebi iz Zagreba ;)
Thanks Karak, appreciate all the work!
Been watching you for a long time, love the content. Do you have any plans for reviewing divinity: Original Sin II?
Dope review as per bro I got this game on pre-order and hope it's as much fun as it looks. Great review
Steam and PSN are showing $19.99 for me, not $17.99. I'll get it though. Love these type of games :)
Also I know it came out a few weeks ago, but are you going to review Rock of Ages 2? I'd love to hear your opinion on it. :)
Totally getting a Hyper Light Drifter vibe.
"Where the hell is Torch Light 3?"
Bmax studio was shut down so it won’t be anytime soon.
Runic games is closed so torchlight 3 wont happen
I loved journey, and this game really looks interesting.I am glad that you cover hob.
Bob Ross tribute
Love this kind of game.
Matt Uelmen made the music ofc it's great! He made the Diablo 1 and 2 music :D
Knew nothing about this game. Now I want to get it. Thank you for the great review.
Thanks for all the content man!
PLEASE make a Hob / torchlight sort of game where we have the combat and movement of hob with controller support in a modified torchlight world with the loot system, mobs, bosses etc.
6 to 8 hours!? That's a let down..
Rest In Peace Bob Ross you magical human being.
Glad you didn't have to live to see our species devolve so far.
"I wish I could be judged on 20 minutes of footage" - Stewart Lee
Such a beautiful looking game...Keep up the good work,Karak,I've been a long time fan and will continue watching your reviews whenever u put them up!
Off topic question. Are you going to review Divinity Original Sin 2?
ACG, are you going to do a review of Steamworld Dig 2?
Does this game ng+ once you beat the game or unlock any extra difficulties??? how is the game in terms of replayability?
What up bro and hope you're well
you to man
This has piqued my interest, £13.49 for a bonnie looking 3D puzzle platformer, I can't see anything wrong with that.
You've convinced me, I'm buying it when I wake up in the morning. Cheers.
Hey ACG will you be doing Divinity Original Sin 2 review ?
Yeah I was wondering the same, would love to hear what he thinks about it!
How's the story? I loved Journey and abzu mostly because it left you with a lasting memory of a great story
New subscriber, for now on I will follow your reviews. No more IGN and GameSpot reviews.
would you recommend this game for me; I'm really looking for something like Legend of Zelda BOTW and is this similar?
I'm not into RPGs or MOBAs and at first I thought Hob was one of those but I'm not sure whether to get it or not...
+5 for Wizard cartoon reference 2:03.
Are you not doing a Divinity Original Sin 2 Review ? I'm on the fence with that one, specifically because i have not played much turn based rpg's.
I'm about 90 mins in and I love it.
My sort of game
Why do I have a feeling this game is just an elaborate test of all the tools and mechanics that they will eventually use in Torchlight 3. Cos this game is priced quite reasonably for what you 'experience' and I am left with the feeling that there is a LOT more potential with what they can do with it.
*Excellent review!!!*
Surprised you didn't mention "Rime". I pretty much saw this game's trailer after beating Rime and thought they seemed similar.
Well I already pre ordered This and Battle Chasers.
Ludens i just preordered battle chasers myself
For 20$ no 4K and HDR? I'll wait until we get it for free on PS+. Looks like the perfect game for the Switch on the go and I'd pay 7.99$ for it.
This looks like a game I would love if I was any good at puzzles
This new Doomfist skin looks cool
uh! I was waiting for this. You're a machine!
One of my most anticipated games of 2017 :)
ACG is the patrician's reviewer
Hope they can make new torchlight game with this kind of level design.
"If everyone wondered "where the hell is torchlight 3" 😂 my thoughts when i found out this was from runic games.
Acg r u going to review dishonered death of the outsider.? Excellent reviews as usual
