Mark hicks thank you! It was a big part of my childhood, too! I loved the show & the characters & the actors! It was a wonderful time for those of us who grew up with it! All the best to you, Mark hicks!
That kind of surprised me also. But both actors hated doing the show, and were in constant conflict with the producers. As a matter of fact, Rogers never signed a contract. He could have left at any time.
My two favorites were Klinger and Radar. My daughter served in the Army and was then hired by KBR and was stationed at the Bagram airbase in Afghanistan. Her job was in logistics and sent out anything our troops called in for. If she didn't have it she knew who did and bypassed the chain of command and went directly who had it and got it sent out ASAP. I had a soldier call me from Afghanistan and thanked me for raising a good daughter. I said "You mean Amber?" He said "Yes, but we call her Radar!" If we needed anything, she got it sent out really fast.
I met Gary Burghoff (Radar) not realizing we live close to one another and frequented the same pizzeria. It was exciting when him and his wife invited my friend and I to join them at their table. Very sweet guy.
@@JW...-oj5iw He's not gay he has been married twice to women. I can't remember how many kids he has but he left mash to spend more time with his family after a wild fire trapped his family and made it to his back door while he was away at work. I read this story not long ago can't remember where.
MASH, a show that will never age. LOVE the show and could sit down and watch any episode anytime. My favourite character is Col. Potter. Great actor. Favourite scene, when Radar comes into the OR to say Col. Blake is dead. Never fails to choke me up.
The casting of each character was spot on. Klinger hilarious, wonderful Capt. Flagg, sensitive and caring Radar, everyone made it their own. A wonderful series and wish I owned every full episode. Never tire of it. Tks for posting. What a legacy they have left for us.
*MASH* was undoubtedly the best TV show ever! My favorite character has to be Hawkeye Pierce. I actually met Gary Burghoff & his mother in a MacDonalds way back in 1981. He was very down to earth & one of the nicest people that I have ever met. Like millions of others, I hated to see that show end. Maybe it's because I served in the military but after the show ended, I found that I couldn't watch re-runs because it's just too nostalgic. It's like you've lost a best friend & know that you can't get them back. MASH will always be in my heart! Thanks for the memories.
Loved them all. The episode I would not watch again, is the last episode. Yes! I cried. Only other shows/movies I cried while watching was "Old Yeller" and "Field of Dreams." Made the mistake of watching it too soon after my own father passed away. Thank you for the update on M*A*S*H*.
wow, thanks, this is my absolute fav tv show ever, I have everything in a set on dvd, I've seen each one more than 50 times. My kids grew up on mash. it could not be done now though.t. I missed the last one and it was years before I was able to see it. I can't watch it on tv though because they cut stuff out to fit advertisements and they are only 22 min long in the first place. this was great,
Its hard to pick just one coz they all brought so much to the show. I was 10 years old when Mash started. Over the years I started watching coz of Radar. He was so cute. He was also my first actor crush lol. All in all, I grew up watching every episode and to this day, I still watch it. It's a timeless show. It had its moments that made you realize just how lucky you were to be somewhere safe and warm. If they ever tried to do a remake of Mash, I personally don't think it will have the same essence that the original has. Thank you for sharing this. I guess its time to pop some popcorn and make a jug of koolaid, sit back and watch Mash reruns this coming weekend.
mash was one of the few shows that could actually make you cry, then laugh again, it has its place beside archie bunker, and cheers, ??? taxi, it was the heavy hitter among the best comedy going I still love it to this day
You failed to mention that Harry Morgan's early TV role was in Dragnet. When I saw him in M*A*S*H as an adult, I remembered him from Dragnet in the 60s.
Agree with ToddF: Leaving out Wayne Rogers was a big omission. His interaction with Alan Alda was, I think, a big part of the show's early success. Also, Several of the recurring guest characters, could have or should have been mentioned: Alan Arbus who played Sidney, the army psychiatrist; Loudon Wainwright III, Alan Alda's father Robert, as well as the Asian actors who played Koreans such as Pat Morita & Soon-Tek O. Actually, enough of these guest stars played on MASH for there to be a whole separate video about them.
Favorite episode is death takes a holiday. The episode where Winchester has their tradition about giving away the chocolate bars and BJ Margaret and Hawkeye prevent the guy dying on Christmas
Nurse Kellye, Major Winchester the III, and Colonel Potter are my favorites; Nurse Kellye was such a positive and strong female role. The episode where she gives Hawkeye an education on his behavior is stellar. The episodes where Major Winchester receives the fall leaf from the school child and the one where he works with the patient who had to reclaim his ability to play the piano bring on the good crying every time. And Colonel Potter getting choked up over those in his command is a genuine show of care and concern. M*A*S*H makes me laugh a lot, but the human connection so aptly portrayed by the actors is what has me watching the show over and over. I own every single episode.
My favorite is Jamie Farr. Love that guy. The end of mash was funny because he stayed after wards because he fell in love with a woman there. Just love him.
When MASH was on the air, I was a young man. I’m 50 now. I remember visiting my grandparents for special occasions, whether it was Thanksgiving, the 4th of July, or whatever event brought us there. All of the family would come- my aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws and friends. It didn’t matter how special the occasion or who the visitors were, we were told to shut the fuck up while my grandparents watched MASH. They loved that goddam show more that us.
I grew up watching this show with my papaw, and I still watch it whenever I need a good laugh and a little comfort.... I'll always love Hawkeye and Radar
Harry Morgan,my grandfather on my mom's side of the family went to school with him.He was a Muskegon,Mi native going to Muskegon High School graduating in 1933.Mike Farrell did commercials before he was on MASH,one was a 1969 Plymouth Fury commercial
It is so difficult to have a favorite episode because there are so many wonderful and great episodes. Favorite moments include Radar's reaction to having his bugle shot out of his mouth by a cannon, COL Potter shooting his crushed Jeep after it was run over a tank driven by MAJ Burns, and Hawkeye pranking MAJ Burns' paranoia with air raids by filling his air raid trenches with water, then shouting "Air raid!" God I loved that show growing up.
No mention of Trapper or Col. Blake? Apart from the series finale the scene of Radar announcing the death of Henry Blake must be top 3 from the show on any list.
still watch this in 2020, love this show. never watched the last episode or the 2 hour movie to this day. great show. i loved McLean Stevenson as Henry Blake and Wayne Rogers as "Trapper" John. but both were replaced by others and were equally as beloved in time cause all created a 11 year run must see great tv. but try as i may to come up with my favorite episode, almost impossible. when there is a show with 256 episodes over 11 years,

M*A*S*H* was one of the all-time great TV series and in the UK, it was shown on BBC 2 with no commercials or laughter track, perfection. I really liked Alan Arbus as Sidney Freeman, he was great in the part.
Favourite scene, not necessarily episode was Hawkeye and Margaret in the storeroom taking inventory with Hawkeye asking where's the sulfa and Margaret responds in the living room (or something like that)...which was followed with Digitalas and Hawkeye said he was keeping it a secret.

Gary Burghoff lives in Paradise, Northern California and rarely leaves his ranch. Maybe 12 years ago or so he did a TV commercial for a local mattress store, and made a point to say he didn't do commercials for products he didn't believe in and use himself.
I found out about M.A.S.H. when I was flipping threw random channels and found metv and I got hooked on it every year metv shows the grand finale with the remaining cast and just comes to show my generation of early 2000 can find this series funny
Gary Burghoff also was spokesman for BP when they bought Gulf Oil in the 90s. A ham radio friend of mine in Atlanta worked with Gary during that time. Gary would not fly anywhere so BP had to furnish him a motorhome to go places. Radar always used ground transportation in M*A*S*H.

i had an opertunity to live just 2 camper spaces down from Mr. Gary Burgoff aka radar , such a kool person to meet, he shared some off set stories on mash around a camp fire setting , with other neighbors of the camper community he lives in, i was just a passing by for a month then i was gone..
I loved Father Mulcahy. He was such a treasure. Also loved Sydney Freedman and Max Klinger. But, really, all of them! I was sad when Ginger Bayliss was cut from the team.
While Radar and Mulcahy are my favs, I always connected with Winchester because of traits I had like his pride and passion in the work he did, his singleness, being that guy that never really buddy buddies with anyone but eventually comes to be friends with a few people. And finally, his love of music. The final episode where he smashes his record of Mozart after the band he tried to teach was killed makes me sob like a child every time I see it.
Yo what a great series n film, I was hooked, loved it, n miss it, there was never a dull moment, boy they don’t make them like they did back then. I was watching the reruns in 2019 wow wow wow they helped me through a lot, I was finally looking after Mum after Dad had passed n I laughed n cried, just what the doctor ordered har heaven, I will make a point of watching the reruns again n hoping the cast wouldn’t pass away in real life, because I would miss them, even not knowing who they were out of character. Bless you all. XX 🤠😃😄🤣😆😢✊🙏
I really liked Mclean Stevenson and Wayne Rogers as Col. Henry Blake and Trapper John. I was really sorry when they left the show as those two characters were part of the MASH novel. Richard Hooker who wrote the book MASH, was based on his experience as a surgeon in a MASH unit 8055 during the Korean conflict.
Its a toss up.... I was called 'Radar' from the 7th grade until well into adulthood, first because my ears were big... and after that it was because I had an uncanny feeling about where the cops would be and saved us pot smokers many times... but... I always liked Alan Alda... loved him in the movie about Caryl Chessman... and his portrayal of Hawkeye was always stellar..
@@JW...-oj5iw it does sound familiar and I never could find it by the name of the book it was based on.. Cell 2354 I think it was... thANKS.. iT MUST BE HERE ON RUclips.
Favorite episodes: "Dreams", "Margaret's Marriage" (a very fitting last show for Major Burns), "Change of Command", "Abyssinia, Henry", and "Movie Tonight".
Nice catch up on what happened to the beloved series stars. My favorite character would have to be Col. Potter. His dry situational wit (To Hot Lips: "Major, you have to stop getting drunk and beating up the troops!"), his calm demeanor, his respect and affection for the men and women under his command, and his terrific leadership style. Whoever wrote the character really understood Adm. Grace Hopper's advice, "You lead people; you manage resources."
David Ogden Stiers was also in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. There’s an awesome Easter egg in TNG. One of the computer displays read “Sensor display 4077.” It was very brief as the camera moved past.
I never heard of the show called ‘Walter!’ Must’ve been in college or something. Also never knew Farr was in Cannonball Run II with Doug McClure! I think he was also on ‘F Troop’ yrs ago, as an Indian. Cool that William Christoper was on so many shows I had seen when really young pre M*A*S*H! All fun facts! ♥️💕
Why do leave out characters that are clearly main characters that are in the clips you use? I'm really not understanding how you didn't include Trapper and Henry at all. We would like to see them too.
@@Summer_Reigns I do think Larry left at just the right time. Once Margaret got engaged Frank was no longer needed! I understand, however, Charles was wonderful! And a breath of pompous fresh air!!
Kristen S the actors Wayne Rogers and McLean Stevenson left on their own as were fed up with being on the show as felt like were second fiddle to Alan Alda and were not getting proper character development as the show went. Rogers also had a dispute with his contract in which later found out he had actually never signed his contract and felt his character Trapper was getting the short end of things as his character was the chief surgeon in the film Mash and in the book where in show Hawkeye was the lead character and chief surgeon along with the fact that Alda’s popularity on ships and resume prior to mash and outshown Rogers. Alda’ s Hawkeye was getting the better lines and screen time after the first season where Trapper and Hawkeye started out as equals. McLean Stevenson left to as felt second fiddle and Alda and chose to leave as felt he could be successful in other shows and never quite had the success again on tv when left Mash same with Wayne Rogers although he became a largely successful businessman and money investor when got out of acting by the 80s and Larry Linville and Gary Burghoff’s acting careers were never the same when left Mash.
@@Summer_Reigns I agree with you about Frank Burns. No disrespect to Larry Linville, but Frank wore out his usefulness several years earlier. He just wore out his welcome. His character became quite cartoonish after a while.
He was not a gender bender he was trying to get out on a section 8 by going crazy to get out of the army and ironically in series finale he stays in Korea when married to Soon Li
The dude that made this video is an idiot and clearly didn't watch the show. Any episode with Klinger in it he says why he cross dresses and its not to be a gender bender or any of that horse hockey. Its to prove he's crazy and get out of the army with a section 8 discharge.
Who was your favorite character? 🤔
Colonel Potter
My favorite was Wayne Rogers. He laughed at some of the joke lines sometimes. Made it a little more real.
Henry Blake

i had an opertunity to live just 2 camper spaces down from Mr. Gary Burgoff aka radar , such a kool person to meet, he shared some off set stories on mash around a camp fire setting , with other neighbors of the camper community he lives in, i was just a passing by for a month then i was gone..
Thanks for sharing that WONDERFUL story!
I liked them all. It was a great show!💞
I loved Father Mulcahy. He was such a treasure. Also loved Sydney Freedman and Max Klinger. But, really, all of them! I was sad when Ginger Bayliss was cut from the team.
Brilliant, thank you!
Thank you!
My favorite was Col Flagg..
"I am the wind..."
"I was never here..."
"Don't look now. But the 'wind' just broke his leg." That was a quote from Hawkeye, but I may have actually misquoted him.
@@raoularmagnac2037 lol...I remember the episode! Thanks for the memories. 😅

Amazing people I will allways remember and LOVE !!!
I could watch that series on and on and on and on..... 😉😊🥰🥰
Favorite character was potter episode was old soldier's
I loved Alan Alda in Same time next year...he was so good
Amazing movie. One of my favorites! Be sure to have a box of tissues handy.
I loved MASH!
One of my favourite show's ❤️
Its a toss up.... I was called 'Radar' from the 7th grade until well into adulthood, first because my ears were big... and after that it was because I had an uncanny feeling about where the cops would be and saved us pot smokers many times... but... I always liked Alan Alda... loved him in the movie about Caryl Chessman... and his portrayal of Hawkeye was always stellar..
Kill Me If You Can. Am I right?
@@JW...-oj5iw was that the title?
@@drmorqWarrenProject ... I believe it is. I didn't look it up, but that's what struck me when you mentioned the name.

Brilliant, magnificent, irreplaceable Alan ❤️
I loved them all, really! 🥰
And my favorite Epidode was: 5 o'clock Charlie! 😂
Brilliant report
Thanks 🤗
Harry Morgan who played colonel Potter and McLean Stevenson were in a movie together, called the cat from outer space.
The only time me and the old man weren't arguing. While watching mash.
Favorite episode is when Frank Burns leaves mash and the guys toast goodbye farewell to ferret face
Loved that show! 🤩
I liked the entire cast.
I think it only had a pilot
My friends used to make fun of me cause I watched mash, they thought it was boring. This was one of the funniest shows I’ve ever watched and still do.
He was one of my favorite actors from the 70's
Why do leave out characters that are clearly main characters that are in the clips you use? I'm really not understanding how you didn't include Trapper and Henry at all. We would like to see them too.
I agree! They were awesome. They should have stuck around longer. And Charles should have replaced Frank a lot sooner.
It seems so obvious - right!
My most favourite series watch reruns every night before going to bed
One of my favorite episodes is the one where Hawkeye has a nightmare and ends up sleepwalking to the basketball hoop to shoot some hoops.
REMEMBER WHEN HAWK EYE BUSTED RADAR MAILING HOME A JEEP PIECE BY PIECE
Yes, I remember! I cracked up in laughter right now just thinking about it! 🤣
I liked all of them
Me too.
Frank burns!!! He was just hilarious!
😂
klinger was a "gender bender"? i thought he dressed up, so theyd think he was mad, and would be sent away from the war
Same
He was not a gender bender he was trying to get out on a section 8 by going crazy to get out of the army and ironically in series finale he stays in Korea when married to Soon Li
The dude that made this video is an idiot and clearly didn't watch the show. Any episode with Klinger in it he says why he cross dresses and its not to be a gender bender or any of that horse hockey. Its to prove he's crazy and get out of the army with a section 8 discharge.
My favorite ones were with Cornell Flagg! What an imagination to think of that dimwit. Hats off to the inspiration for Flagg.
Colonel Flagg should have been a regular on mash. He was so funny.
