Man we didn’t realize how good we had it with the racing back in the day
I miss those days. Im glad we can go back and watch these races on RUclips
@bigpigslapper Oink I’ll have to agree with that
@@stevensmall9398 agreed
@bigpigslapper Oink what hap in 01. I would watch racing in early 00s. Did many rules have changed?
@@partycrashers22 The Intimedator died that day
I bet Earnhardt enjoyed every second of that battle against Gordon.
I bet he did. No one intimidated Earnhardt as much as Gordon did and that’s saying something from Earnhardt cus most people didn’t want to mess with him. If they ever got side by side or next to each other you know it was gonna be a hell of a battle.
I don’t think so. He was frustrated the new kid was beating him and taking his glory awsy
Bumpdrafting no restrictor plates racer with the most points at the end of the season wins that is the way it was meant to be
Enjoyed? More like Frustrated.
@@davidallenroth thats false Earnhardt and Gordon were CLOSE FRIENDS
This is why Dale did it. I've heard him utter the word 'racin' far more than I've heard him utter 'win'. I truly believe he lived for these battles.
From Richard Petty and David Pearson, Earnhardt and Gordon were the 90's of Nascar. Loved those times.
Darrell waltrip in the 80s*
These two men are the reason why my brother and I watched Nascar on Sunday afternoon rather then take naps like our parents wanted us to. They put Nascar in its prime, and when Jr stepped up he kept it there.
Earnhardt is a legend, and Gordan and Jr helped keep the competition alive and exciting!
Now that they "good boys" are going into retirement, it really is disheartening to see what Nascar has become, it's nothing more then a shell of what it once was.
There will never be any other drivers like these two...
Nothing more iconic than that black 3 car and that rainbow warrior 24
I’m a Jeff Gordon fan and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. There won’t be another Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordon. Two amazing legends in their own right!.. Dale enjoyed racing and it showed. There won’t be another Earnhardt
Facts !!!!
These new kids use blinkers and hand signals to pass, this sport is dead, this video is what racing used to be.
That's like being a Cubs and Cards fan. Oil and water don't mix.
I miss Winston Cup.
You’re not alone.
👍
And the Busch Series.
I'm suddenly feeling much older. I rarely missed watching a race back then...and now I rarely watch one.
2 years late but the same here!
i have no idea who any of the drivers are anymore. definitely not good ol' boys.....
The best 7 minutes of racing during the 2020 season
you got that right
My good lord this makes me feel old...and I'm only 25!
Man I miss the old NASCAR.
Me too bro!!! 😭😭😭
Me too man. I’m 26 and I remember slightly the gordon vs Earnhardt battles as a young one. Any time you saw those two next to each other you know you were up for one if the best treats nascar had to offer between drivers. Imo I think Gordon was a little better than Dale. What he accomplished in such that amount of time compared to Earnhardt takes a really good driver to accomplish
@@matthewaldrich6455 for a few years in the mid to late 90’s Dale struggled and raced one season with a splintered vertebrae in his neck so Gordon got the better of him a couple years. However you only being 26, Dale dominated 85-95 also having success in the early 80’s and did have his moments in the late 90’s. Dale was better then Gordon; not taking anything away from Jeff it’s just facts
Two of the greatest battling it out back in the day.
Awesome - any time these two were on the track and racing one another, there was never anything dirty that I can recall. Just good, hard, clean racing.
There's some kind of "24 vs. 3 - The Rivalry" show coming to Fox, and I have no idea what they're going to show, other than fans bickering back and forth... because in reality, the only rivalry these two guys had was between their fans. haha
I think there was a time where Earnhardt put a bump-n-run on Gordon for the win on a short track, and Gordon retaliated after the checkered flag, but I can't remember off-hand when/where that was.
@Ethan Weeter That's an interesting way to view it. I guess you could say their relationship was like a non-blood sibling rivalry, but I always thought he saw Jeff as another son alongside Jr. and Kerry.
@Ethan Weeter no your exactly right.
I miss this kind of NASCAR.
Something about seeing those two polar opposite cars battle it out. Two generational talents going at it. Last lap of the 99 Daytona 500 gets me every time.
When NASCAR was real racing , Damn I miss this Stuff
I actually enjoy not having to worry about losing a superstar at every race. NASCAR is waaay safer now
me 2
@iron head lol are u living under a rock bro
@iron head Lmfao so you see no difference in racing from today or racing from 30 years ago ???????
As we say "Back in the good ol' days". I miss 80's & 90's racing so much. Great memories!!
And not just 80s & 90s NASCAR. There was a LOT of great racing all around the world in all different series back then. It was so much fun to watch (when you could watch it).
I miss 60's and 70's NASCAR. That was real racing back then...not like this crap they put on today.
@@OverlandOne yep, seeing only the leader on the lead lap in the 60s and 70s was so exciting. 😆😆🤣.
@@racegrubb2152 I guess you did not watch races back then? I watched Richard Petty lead David Pearson into the last lap at Pocono in the early 70's, Petty backed off and Pearson shot past him. Petty tucked in behind him and Pearson knew he was in trouble but there was nothing he could do. Petty got the draft and passed him by just before the finish line. I was there for that race and the crowd was on their feet. Most of the field was in the lead lap so I have no idea what you are talking about? Many of the races I went to or watched were just about as exciting as that one. Those big block engines sounded a lot better then too.
This is type of racing movies try to replicate.
Back when racing was actually racing. NASCAR today sux.
When did they introduce stages into NASCAR. I stopped following for a while and started to watch again recently
@@Deathloan I think stages was their attempt to try to make racing like this again that way the leader doesn’t get too ahead, I feel like in today’s cup series the skill level is just too variant between drivers that there’s really no competition or rivalries. The stages was a nice attempt though (to keep em together)
Yup
Racing today is just who's the fastest rich kid
I would watch racing in early 00s. But what rules have changed? I know my fam men's say nascar is changing and they weren't happy about it
Love how they were going at it that early in the race
They had to be having so much fun.. there’s nothing better than racing hard with friends
THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES JEFF.
Coming from a longggg time Earnhardt fan, I never did see Gordon obviously intimidated. The kids got guts.
Sr never intimidated Gordon !!
@@genemaverick5705 REALLY? Why did "Wonder Boy" get very nervous when the black #3 was in his review mirror? Gordon even admitted that on a Dale Jr podcast?
@@sergeantmasson3669 🤣🤣
@@genemaverick5705 Oh gee, I'm sorry but not my problem that you can't comprehend truth/facts.
@@sergeantmasson3669 lmao 🤣
The one driver who could break Sr' record of 7 championships was Jeff. But after SR died, Nascar went to the chase system which foiled any chance Gordon had at winning 7 or 8 championships.
I think that and the crash that really hurt his back did kinda did him in but it sure was fun to watch him go after it!
What's the chase system?
Completely agree.
@@heroscapewarrior4217 A contrived "playoff" concocted by NASCAR to make racing more exciting. NASCAR used to be straight points. Most points at the end wins a championship. The Chase is the fake playoffs that start at race 27 of the season. 16 cars make it and the potential champions are reduced to 4 cars for the final race that will be eligible for the championship. Who ever heard of a playoff where the losers get to be on the field? Its the stupidest playoff in all of racing and any other sport for that matter.
The jet black vs the bright rainbow color schemes really completes their duel.
Everyone dont forget about Tim Richmond that guy was a legend. He would say whatever was on his mind and talk like crazy to announcers while diving like a mad man.
Stand’s jammed packed
No technology. No constants time clocks flowing the cars around the track. Miss this old school racing.
2 kings putting on a show.
It was Earnhardt's world back in the early 90's until Gordon came along!!
Damn I miss these days it was great being a fan of Jeff Gordon from the very beginning
The good ole days of racing
That was a cool camera angle when they come of the turn side by side towards the finish line.
It's nice to see true racing when it was racing
Back when racing WAS racing!! 😢
Plot twist: It still is.
Earnheart was intimidated by
the young gun...his best competition. Alot of balls busted, but gordon could handle it . He was proud of that!
man i wish i alive to see this rivalry my dad would always say "there's was no middle you either liked earnhardt or gordon"
And that's not an exaggeration either 😅
Sr never could rattle Jeff !!
two of the best ever
I had a huge smile on my face watching this. Awesome stuff.
Back when NASCAR was so much better, it was competitive there were 36 races that counted not just the last 10 and not the overly complicated points system. Jeff Gordon drove totally fearless and was winning so much as well as having high finishes. Rusty and Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, and of course Earnhardt Sr. NASCAR was so much better then
When NASCAR was fun, miss these days and these drivers, all of them.
DALE SR AND JEFF ARE MY BOYS I LOVE THEM WITH ALL MY HEART AND ALWAYS WILL
"If you see Jeff Gordon, Put the son of the bitch in the wall. **chuckle**" - Dale Sr
When NASCAR mattered to me.....Jeff my forever #24.
Look at all those fans in the stands. 😳
im a 80s baby Earnhardt all the way
Back when NASCAR was just racing without gimmicky stage racing and Chase bullshit.
Jeff Gordon the GOAT !!
Now THIS was RACING!!
Dick is ahead of himself saying "he has no wins in '94", well it's still '93!
Love Jeff's helmut. Has breather slots above the wind screen. I never noticed that.
Yep. He confused the heck out of me saying 94 instead of 93. I know Jeff's stats and being that this is at Charlotte and the 600 was his first win, I didn't know what was going on. I got worried there for a second that somehow the universe has switched something up on me. Haha
I still remember all those classic cars and drivers of the 90s. Born 90 being a kid the 90s nascar has a magic to it.
He sure did intimate him during the 1998 Daytona 500
Dale is the best and always will be the greatest race car driver ever to drive a stock car.
Earnhart was like a race god rip
Dale Earnhardt Sr had God given talent.
♥ YOU
Back before Randy Travis went nuts and walked around naked lol
Back when real MEN raced in Nascar
@Jeremy Marsh I wasn’t necessarily referring to Gordon in particular, but most of the rest of the field was for sure
Define real.
Legendary
I don’t think the racing was better back then. But the feel of the racing was much better. The paint schemes were amazing.
Good battle!
Legends
Yall call this race? I call it magic. Cmon look at Sr and Gordon go side by side for a whole turn
Pure unadulterated focus and precision
NASCAR just isn't the same
I agree. I miss these days of racing. Two of the best ever racing against each other. I was one of the few that liked them both and I loved seeing them compete like this. Dale made Gordon better and Jeff made Dale work even harder to stay on top. They had a great rivalry and they respected each other but they always wanted to be better than the other.
To be fair, neither is anything else.
Another great underrated rivalry was Ernie Irvan vs Jeff Gordon
These were the best sounding cars next in line were early 2000 restrictor plate cars
Best rivalry ever
Imma stop you right there chief. Jeff Gordon vs Rusty Wallace is a bigger rivalry than Dale Sr vs Jeff Gordon. Change my mind
@@jeffgordonfan2462 Jeff and Rusty never battled neck and neck for a championship
@@jeffgordonedits1258 i guess yeah but didn't Jeff & Dale only have one season where they were fighting for the Championship 1-2. I think 1995 was the only year
@@jeffgordonfan2462 At least Dale and Jeff had that down to the wire championship battle though, even if just once. Rusty was never a match for Gordon after 1995.
@@jeffgordonedits1258 Gordon vs Wallace at short tracks were pretty good
1997 at Bristol: Gordon bumped Wallace out of the way for the win
1998 at Richmond: Wallace spun out Gordon & took Gordon out of the race
2002 at Bristol: Gordon yet again put the bumper to Wallace to win
I assumed the “28” next to his window net at the beginning of the video was a tribute to Earnie. Then he started right next to him on the outside of the pole. Can someone clarify?
It's for Davey Allison.
Oh how I miss the Winston Cup Nascar Racing in the 80s and 90s....Go 28 (Allison) Go 24 (Gordon). I stopped watching in '15 when Gordon retired...
🌈 WARRIOR
👌 👌 👌
Ernie Irvan smoked em that day. One of the biggest ass kickings in modern Nascar.
After this race he only was behind 670 points to Earnhardt.
@@rolltide9547 that's alot
I'm just curious what the black flag at the beginning was about
Now that's racin'!
It was getting too easy for Earnhardt (that is how good he was). Gordon was the man who took down the Intimidator
Gordo will never amount to a wart on Dales butt.
I forgot how much I loved NASCAR. They ruined it and its unwatchable now.
Gordon won that battle
Jeff Gordon was the beginning of the childen racers. Not even white collar but the son of white collar rich guys.
Now the sport doesn't have blue collar heroes anymore. They're all sons of white collar guys.
*white collar just means business men for anyone thinking i'm race baiting
What was bodine’s black flag for?
What was the rule change that they were talking about?
They reduced downforce on the cars by shortening the spoiler and they raised the nose off the ground from 3 to 5 inches so more air could get under the chassis.
Jeff Gordon Edits well that definitely seemed like it helped the racing telling by this clip. Thanks for uploading this hope you upload more battles between them from 93.
@@jeffgordonedits1258 Lol, they just did the opposite.
Is that Richard Petty commentating?
what yall don't understand is Earnhardt taught Gordon alot when he got in the cup cars and what you saw was a teaching moment....
I doubt that
@@davidallenroth I don't, even Gordon himself said Earnhardt took him to school alot on the track....face it Earnhardt is still a legend. No one will ever top the things that he could do in a racecar.
@@mattattac1 nah man. Gordon surpassed earndthart. In wins and in skill. Not as many championships but they ran in racing for the same exact amount of time and gordon surpassed him. So did Johnson. Dale Earnhardt was amazing but gordon was the better driver in the end
@@dominicg3316 I guess you don't remember the crash kart they had for Gordon in his rookie year cause he wrecked so much. After Earnhardt started teaching him he got better and better....even Gordon has said every chance he got he would talk to Earnhardt and learn everything he could and even shadow him on the track....but still could get taken to school by Earnhardt anytime he thought he was gettin better then the teacher. Gordon is a good driver and won alot of races but Earnhardt will always be better....the only one on his level is the king Richard Petty.
@@mattattac1 i guess u don't remember Bristol or daytona or talladega where gordon beat him multiple times and even swiped a championship from him. Yeah Earnhardt even admitted if anyone was to surpass him it was gordon. And he did. Gordon is above dale now
Dale Sr gave Gordon the "Wonder Boy" nickname and it wasn't a compliment.
Without Ray Evernham, Jeff Gordon would've been a nobody. When Jeff was first hired, Ray Evernham had to be part of the package or no go.
Wait? Am I missing something? Didn’t he win the Coke 600 and Brickyard before this race?
This was 1993, not '94, Gordon went winless in '93 sadly.
The year of this race is 1994 not 1993
Racing is not the same since these guys aren’t there and they changed the rules
Ok. Ray. How. Bout. Dattt. Air. Pressure
They were both happiest when they were racing each other and NO they didn't hate each other, people😀 Fierce competitors yes but also friends. Jeff lost his mojo after that season. His last Championship although he will always and forever be my Champ❤️❤️ It was never the same after Dale left us. For Jeff or ANY of us old fans😥. We miss you Dale.
The chase/playoffs screwed Gordon outta championships that should've been his. Under the Winston Cup format, Gordon would be the 2004, 2007 and 2014 champion putting him at 7 championships and Johnson would only have 3
#3 was a dirty driver.
The good old days. This sport is dead to me now.
I don't care how many total wins Kyle Busch has...he couldn't compete with these 2 guys during this era...
i dunno about all that.
We were never. 4. Restrictor plates
And neither was dale earnhardt
This was 94
WATTTT
3×8=24×2=48..think about those numbers.
If Gordon was gay for driving the rainbow car , I guess he was the top cuz he gave everyone the Dich
But Earnhardt did wrecked Jeff Gordon at Phoenix.
Moved him.
Corporations, Washington DC and billionaires have ruined everything good about America.
FALSE. Ray Evernham often told Jeff Gordon to stay away from the #3 car.
