  • It's back to work on the D16 Vitara budget build. In this video the cylinder head gets installed with an OEM Honda gasket, the ARP head studs get torqued to 60 ft/lbs, and the rest of the long block gets assembled and timed. It's ready to go back in the car now!

    Don't rev past 7200 unless have upgraded valve springs imo. Very clean build and hope it all works out great.

      Thanks! I haven’t changed the rpm limit. It’s great so far and has about 1200 miles on it now.

      This engine could easily handle more than 7200rpm, the stock rpm limited is 200 higher than that. As for the ARP bolts, D series have a hard time holding their HGs tight so many people opt to tighten the head bolts to as high as 90 ft⋅lb. I have several d series setups. I also have a red EK but after a few years beating on the D16Y8 I noticed a rod bearing was starting to wear thin and luckily it didn't chew the crank yet. I ended up swapping a D16Z6 out of a boomer's wrecked sunday-driven Del Sol. I also have another Del sol in tact with a unmolested D16Z6 in it. It sucks I can only play with these cars a few months out of the year living in Mich U. P. but when you can there are a lot of roads to do pulls on. lol. I'm subbing this channel and coming to check out other videos because I am also in the process of basically copying what you have, a pole barn with a Natgas heater. I'd like to pick your brain

      Haha, you are the first one to catch that. Thanks, the car is running great @ 16-18 psi with about 3000 miles on the build.

    Doing a similar build you mind putting info on the manual you used for the build ?

    • @ShawnFerret
      @ShawnFerret  3 года назад

      It’s the factory Honda service manual for the 1996-2000 Civic. You can find a PDF copy to download from Google.
