Thank you so much, Ben. I watched your video the other night recommending me to your viewers. I can't thank you enough. I am still a massive fan of yours and watch all your videos religiously. I will repay your kindness. I hope you and your lovely wife have a fantastic Christmas and even better new year. - Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 🤶
Was at Blea Tarn yesterday (Xmas eve). Went because I don’t know the Lakes that well so wanted somewhere easy to get to without too much of a walk. When driving up I noticed a cloud inversion over Windermere that would have looked really good *if* I had known where to go. Even on Xmas Eve there were at least 4 other photographers there before me, but it is good to chat to people who share a similar passion. Weather was clear with a light frost, and a mirror reflection in the tarn. A lovely place to be for sunrise. Wish I had known about Tewet Tarn, as there appeared to be cloud inversions everywhere. Stopped at Elter Water; some great reflections but couldn’t find a good place to capture the mist hanging over the water. Thanks for all your posts over the year; very inspiring. Here’s to a good 2019
Just Brill Gary, bit of an abrupt ending, enjoyed it though. A merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and all your family, look forward to more vlogs in the new year🍺👍
Gary, the black and white images are stunning! Because most of us live in a world of color, sometimes b&w makes you see things so differently you are almost stunned by the simplicity. Great stuff!
Just catching up with YT videos today so hope Santa brought you a 10 stopper! Have a good new year and looking forward to more of your great vlogs in 2019
Great video and pics, fantastic reflection at tewet tarn. Like you think I'd miss my ten stop filter, but I think you were missing your gloves just as much 😀😀. Happy new year to you, looking forward to seeing more videos from over the coming year. Many thanks John
Yet another good one Gary! Every time I've visited Blea Tarn the weather has been cold wet and miserable so I've renamed it Bleak Tarn. The one thing that I wouldn't have been able to manage without on my last few trips has been a collection of cleaning cloths. Hope you and your good lady have a great Christmas and I'm now intrigued as to what might be new in 2019, whatever it is count me in!!😊
Another superb video, Gary. I wish I had a 10-stopper, but I need to save for a good filter system. On Saturday afternoon, I went to photograph a landscape overlooking the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge from a height in northern Manhattan, but then discovered I had left my polarising filter at home. The glare from the river was too much. I had planned to take maybe 10 frames and stack and blend them to create a long-exposure effect on the water, which I have done quite successfully before as a substitute for using an ND filter and doing it properly. The golden hour light, clouds and sky were wonderful and would have got even better in blue hour. I couldn’t stay for that, unfortunately. But I just couldn’t do anything about the glare, so I really missed that polarising filter. Instead, I turned my attention to the wildlife and photographed a red-bellied woodpecker and a grey squirrel gathering nuts for Christmas. Somebody had left a pile of peanuts in their shells on the wall to attract the squirrels and birds and I took three and placed them on the wall about 8 feet in front of my camera and set my exposure and focus and didn’t have to wait long before one came along - so the squirrel was slightly staged, but at least I didn’t come away empty-handed. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Another excellent video, Gary. The item I'd most miss - my polariser. Most filters you can do a work-around, but the polariser is, I think, the key thing for landscapes.
Thanks for the entertaining vlogs this year Gary. Have a great christmas and I hope Santa brings you a new 10 stop filter. Look forward to what you have instore for 2019.
Another great vlog Gary. I would definitely miss my 17-40L and also my L bracket. Great locations and I have never been to either - now on the list! Keep up the good work - and have a great Christmas!
Another great video Gary. Love the images. I think I would miss my remote shutter release. Like to thank you for all your videos this year. They have been an inspiration, and as I’ve mentioned before your St Monans Pier video, got me off my backside, and lead me to go out travelling further afield and I would say definitely improved my photography. Have a great Christmas and New Year and looking forward to more great videos.
...Always a pleasure Gary. The b&w later into the video really caught my eye personally. In answer to your question on what would I miss the most in my bag would go something like this. The Nisi Filter system which has never been in my bag! ( You can blame Paul G. for this! ) I plan to slowly build this filter system up as money allows. The 100% optical glass is what has me sold on it. Like you, I will start with a 10 stop & 0.9 grad to begin with, along with a polarizer that I know you don't use & to great effect too. Shortly thereafter, I will add a 6 & 3 stop, for those small mountain streams with waterfalls I so love shooting. Wishing you & your loved ones a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year Gary... Bill... :-)
Great video Gary as always. Perhaps Santa will be nice and bring you a new shiny 10 stop LOL!! Loved the images and looking forward to 2019. Have a great Xmas!!
Lovely images again Gary! Merry Christmas to you and your family - enjoy! Thanks for all the very entertaining and informative vlogs in 2018 - I would miss my L bracket the most - it makes camera operation so much easier. Cheers

Another great video Gary. Have a great holiday season. I would miss first my cable release even though many use the 2 sec timer and my polariser second. (hot cup of coffee would be third)

Only visited Blea once and the light was rubbish but what a great location it is. The accessory I think I would most miss is my Peak Design Capture V3 clip. I know it's a matter of personal preference, but why turn a beautiful scene with lots of gorgeous color into a black & white photo? Makes no sense to me.
You missed a shot! With that rock out in the water you should have run out, climbed on the rock and had the picture taken. With your red coat you would have been perfect!
@@GaryGough I have a several photos of with and without people in in the far distance fishing on creeks and large ponds. @@GaryGough Turn out to be a great evening, I was lucky arrived at the right time but have to set up fast though, lol. Last light hitting the top mountain in the background. If you don't mind me posting my IG link here... instagram.com/p/BpYlG93nlWW/
No worries at all. It's a great shot 👍
I don't really have accessories ... I've wished I had a tripod with me from time to time or the other lens.
A tripod definitely - Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 🤶
@@GaryGough A Very Merry Christmas to you as well. :)
It is delicious.
Thank you - Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 🤶
I'd miss my gimbal head. I can't hand hold my big lens. Maybe I should just work out a bit more
lol I know the feeling :) Cheers Peter. All the best for 2019 to you and yours. Thank you for your continued support xx
I'd miss me Camera lol
Indeed so Alan - Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 🤶
Guess who went too Blea Tarn last night lol 😂
I know it's a matter of personal preference, but why turn a beautiful scene with lots of gorgeous color into a black & white photo?
Makes no sense to me.
I hear you, John. I created a colour and B&W version so you could choose. - Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 🤶
You missed a shot! With that rock out in the water you should have run out, climbed on the rock and had the picture taken. With your red coat you would have been perfect!
Ted Nelson - lol I’m getting a reputation with the red coat 😁
@@GaryGough I have a several photos of with and without people in in the far distance fishing on creeks and large ponds. The slight figures in red make the photos just leap out in quality so I am serious. Not the running on water part but the colored figure in the far distance. I really like this video.
Spare batteries!!
- Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 🤶
Hip flask.
