- Made my way down the coast to LA county to explore the tide pools. We found many things alike but so many differences as well! Watch and enjoy!

Thanks for coming down our way chef. I know l lots of people are requesting location here and I think I recognize the spot, but I assume you're not disclosing the actual location out of respect which is understandable. I think you would agree (and if you don't I apologize for the assumption) that exact locations either here or up your way isn't required for a successful day harvesting. More important is knowing when to go, which species to target, the catch and season regulations and how to respect the environment so others can enjoy it as well. As long as people find some rocky areas that get good exposure at low tide they should have a great day out regardless. Thanks for the content and mahalo for the ono grinds.
Exactly. I think everybody needs to read this!
@@joeyn3590 I would like to fish here, I live in Los Angeles. Is it near Malibu?
The problen is there is no information online for those of us in SoCal who would like to participate
If you can point me to a resource, let me know
@@joeyn3590 I think I know where he's at too and I too, have also fished at the place I think he was at.
@@joeyn3590 nice! I haven't been there since February or so. Been surf fishing lol but you could also find sheepshead there

Amazing finds! Love the music you use, super chill vibes. Wish you could've shown us how you prepared your forage finds, what you whipped up. I'm sure it was delicious, though.
Thank you for the wonderful upload and thank you to the lovely camera lady for the AWESOME shots!!!
your videos are so wholesome. thank you
Every episode you share us so entertaining and appetizing
Awesome video as always!!! Love the underwater footage!!
I love your videos! They're always so beautiful and peaceful, I'm on the East Coast in NY and we don't have any rocky coasts near us. I wish we could do some foraging like this!
I love your love of nature. Very awesome videos man!
I love the beats you have in the background of your videos
Love searching for octopus. Great video. So much fun it looks like. I am here in Canada waiting for winter to be over.
fun vid! always learn something new with your crew👍
Well done Taku, I really enjoyed this video with great filming and presentation. It's great that you can travel to differing environments/species in the same state. We have sea hare's here in Wales UK but only a third of the size of the one shown ( when distressed our sea hare secrete a purple dye/ink for protection ),keep up the good work, kind regards Craig
Thank you Craig! Yeah I was really surprised at how many different species there were. There's even black sea hare there that can grow to be over a foot long! Unfortunately I didn't come across any of those.
i got tingly and butterflies when taku said "my camerawoman and also my girlfriend" :'3
What a beautiful day! Nice vid Taku!!
Another awesome one Taku!!
Yay, finally! Wish it was a longer video!

Beautiful shots!
Your best vid yet! That octopus tho
Love your videos. Wish I could do what you are doing but not many tide pools in WY LOL
Knife is life
These videos are getting me really hype for my first foraging attempt!.. I’ll probably reach out to someone with more experience to tag along with so I don’t end up poisoning myself though haha
Awesome video, octopus is one of my favorite sea foods! Too bad you didn't have a chance to cook it and add it to your sushi videos but I respect leaving them to reproduce. Keep up the videos!
Nice video as usual, but was hoping for some cooking action lol, just me being greedy lol !!!
SoCal catch and cook next episode!
This is so AWESOME!!!!
really enjoy this
Would have like to seen a catch and cook on the octopus but I’m not sure on the laws. Great video chef!.
Been following you for a while and love the videos. This summer I'll be finding my way to Cali and was hoping you could point me in the right direction for things to look for by the water (Monterey area). Can almost guarantee I'll be out as much as possible!
Hopefully you make a cooking vid of those whelks. I catch a ton of them as my crabbing bycatch and I’ve got no clue on how long to cook them. They always go back in the ocean and they’re huge so I’m always wondering...
Your videos are amazing, I watch them often. I live in Southern California and after watching your video I realized that there is so much fun and delicious food in Southern California. Thank you so much for the new experience you brought us. Can you tell me the address of this video? I want to try it too, thanks.
Konbanwa Taku and to your gf!! ( Bhona Manacsa ) from Toyama Japan..I find your video relaxing 😌.. thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure
Great video and background music.

Do you return the well shells to the area? If not you need to do that.
Outdoor chef I hate seafood but watching your video and a fisherman’s life video makes me want to give it another chance. In Joshua tree. Are you gonna be out in la for a while. Would love to do come foraging and try it out with ya man
Great video, thank a lot
Are you gonna try poke poling in SoCal? Looks like there's some good spots where you were.
I just subscibed to watch you fillet the belt fish in Okinawa.
I live in SoCal and think it's awesome there is even anything alive down there!
I didn't know foraging was possible or there were "seasons." Mostly I'd rather not touch the nasty runoff water!
i love this kind of observe
i have a suggest, if only you could go out of california tides
somewhere farther..
Any places around Santa Barbara that you recommend foraging?
So awesome Your footage is killer
Nice, lot's of creatures I have never seen before.
Hello from New York City,
Love the channel. How did you get so knowledgeable about sea creatures?
Pretty close to where I live. You should check out the tide pools at White Point in San Pedro as well!
:0 can you share where this is
Nice... whats the regulations on harvesting Octopus in CA? That would be a cool catch and cook
Bro that was legit. Lmk when you come back and I'll take you spearfishing and we can make ceviche and yellowtail sashimi
Dude I’m hungry. Was hoping you were going to cook!!
Nice video. If you decide to try kayak fishing in So Cal, let me know.
That's dope Bro
I love Jocelyn!! She seems so kind.. and I know her tummy loves you as much as she does! 🍣🍤🍥🍜🥟🍺🔪
Please tell me which beach this was!!!?!? I am turning 19 in December and I really really want to go to a beach where I can find shells for my collection!!! I’m from California! This beach looks incredible!!! Please let me know!
Hello! Could I ask where is this coast? I'm going to check it out next month
What made you decide about becoming a chef? Or What inspired you.
I was too poor to eat out. So I had to learn how to make good food myself. lol
Have u ever been to England? Brighton? Marina? I really recognise u from England!
I lives at Southern CA, but never knew this place. Where is the place located?
Anyone know where this tide pool is located?
I see a lot of Kellet's Whelks while diving. Some much larger than that one -- now I'm curious how they taste. Also, sometimes I see a lot of Keyhole Limpets. Do you know if those are edible?
Keyhole Limpets are edible.
Reckon there would be any great whites in that area?
My guy... I stumbled across your channel by accident but I wish I had long ago I absolutely love this type of content goddamn. Brilliant. Subbed.

@@OutdoorChefLife hell yeah opal eye...only place I know is know is new port jetty
Come to San Diego and show me some spots to forage.
Just watched a couple more of your videos and subscribed. Could you please mention any precautions needed before eating foraged food, especially raw? Should we be concerned about the quality of the sea water in certain areas, or the time of year, etc.? I love the concept of eating uni fresh and raw, as you do, but could you address any risks? I would be inclined to cook it just to be safe, but I understand that gives it a different consistency and tase. How would you recommend cooking it, (simply.)? Thanks. Great series!
As long as the water you're harvesting them from isn't crazy contaminated, uni will most likely be ok to eat raw. They're only diet is kelp so there's no parasites to ever worry about. As long as the water isn't too dirty.
a lot more life in central cal, though smaller for some creatures, larger for others.. some good fishing down here in SD right now.. nice work though..
That time of year
can you walk us through your Vlogging set up?
Those were some perrrty Bimacs 🐙 🐙
Cool vid my dude! Never saw an octopus in the tide pools in NorCal yet!
What’s this beach called
That water is so clear
