@@sillysausage4549listen I’m probably in the same boat of never wanting to spend the money on their upper end stuff but, an absurd price is really an individual kind of thing. To some people this is pocket change and to others a month of rent or something similar. I would never buy one of these but, epiphone hasn’t stopped their lower end products, so there are always those options and not just expensive Epiphones now..
These new Epiphone prices really make Reverend guitars look even better. The Reverend’s were always a huge bang for the buck. Comparing their lineup to Epiphone’s new higher prices makes the Reverend a steal.
A lot of guitar makes are now looking more attractive than epiphone. I don't understand what epiphone are doing with their pricing lately, I know a lot of guitars that I would buy for £1.250 than that.
I have a Reverend that’s 5 or 6 years old now. Back then I thought they were a good deal even though they don’t even give you a gig bag like similar priced Fender, PRS and Epiphone does. Heck you can spend $1700 on a new signature Reverend and still not even get a case. In my opinion from an owners standpoint, I don’t think the new Reverends are worth it. I have an Inspired By Gibson 59 Epiphone Les Paul and that guitar is absolutely great. The neck and frets were perfect out of the case. I get compliments on the sound of that guitar at every gig. I guess each to their own, that’s why there are so many brands out there. The higher end Epiphone’s have come a long way.
I agree that Epiphones have come a long way, but they are not nearly as good as Reverends for the same price. I bought a brand new Warhawk DAW two months ago for $1,100. It's very well made, has locking tuners, and came with a hardshell case. Each to their own, but I'll take a Reverend over an Epiphone any day.
@@CycloneJackI remember when I bought one of the first Reverend imports (a Warhawk no less) to the UK for £330. Perhaps I shouldn’t of let it go.. seems they are worth a little bit more now!
Reverends are a better value for sure. So are Yamahas. You can get a Pacifica 612 for $450 less than this Epiphone. And it's made better and is more versatile.
Agreed. I honestly don't get why Epiphone is so stubborn in sticking to Indian Laurel, even on their "premium" series guitars. Why can PRS SE, Eastman, Ibanez, Yamaha et al do it but Epiphone can't?
I saw them for "free" at Expo 98 in Lisbon. The Expo was meh but I felt my $30ish bucks was well spent to spend the day there because of the show. Dave was hilarious. The only Portuguese word he seemed to know was obrigado (thank you) and they busted out My Sharona with obrigado as the lyrics to start the show.
Dunno man… £1300 and you’ve still got an Epiphone? I wish Gibson would stop using Epiphone as their budget brand and let just have a “Gibson made in china” range.
I was never an Epiphone fan. These last few years I’ve found myself falling in love with quite a few of the IBG line guitars. Bought a few. Worth every penny. What you get with these is GIBSON USA pickups, CTS pots and A HARD CASE. I think it’s a good value.
The 339 is a very different sounding guitar. It has a much smaller body than the Grohl Guitar does . The Grohl guitar has a 335 size body .. You won't get 335 tones or Trini Lopez tones from a 339 and the 339 has crap pickups.
I like the look but I dont see the value. Epi 335's can be found new for sub £500, which already includes a profit margin, and there's nothing on this one that adds to the build hours. So artist premium + pickups + case is £750 more. 🤔 Value doesnt compute, for me. Eastman/Sire/D'angelico or even Epi dot every time. Its priced as memorabilia to gouge superfans. Foo's and their money are easily parted.
I'm kinda suprised that these are cheaper than the new Firebirds/other Signatures. Nice guitar, but paying more than a grand on a Epiphone is just crazy.
Johnny Million @itsjohnnymillion It doesn't make sense if you alter what they said, naturally. They said they don't think they will buy one but NOT because of the price tag and brand. Depends. I think the Dave Grohl is priced high but fairly when you consider it comes with a hard case and Gibson pickups. But most of the other premium Epi’s seem overpriced.
I mean idk if I’d ever spend this kind of money on any Epiphone regardless of the special/limited edition monikers. I mean they still sell guitars at a very affordable price point so I’ll just stick to that stuff..
It's the same shape oh both sides. Why can't you just turn it upside down. Turn the nut the other way. Sure, the knobs and cable will be on the wrong side but surely that is a small price to pay.

Dave’s been playing guitar since a kid. He talks down his guitar and music knowledge massively. Clearly he knows what he’s doing. So many pretend they don’t know what they are playing. Is this to look cool?
I think so haha. I think it’s mainly to placate personalities tbh. If you know musicians then you know a lot of them mythologize the idea of playing by feel. Still waiting for an ANGUS YOUNG EPIPHONE! I just don't understand it. He is one the most iconic Gibson players for decades, in the biggest Rock band of all time and it seems like, Gibson/Epi isn't giving a sh*** 🤬
The comments about price seems fair considering a standard Epi 335 is Les than half the price, meaning diamond shaped f-holes, and a signature is worth a quite a lot, considering the rest of the specs don’t differ that much, and the price of a burstbucker, and Grover minis, are not enough of a price difference, even at retail prices, to make up the 60% premium.
The AC30 is probably bang on for what was used in the studio on a bunch of recordings. His main rig is an original Fender Tonemaster head, along with a Custom Audio head, and he now uses Friedman cabinets. In the studio, it can be a variety of anything. Dave and Chris stopped using Boogies live around 2010/2011, and switched to different amps around Wasting Light.
I doubt this new business model of charging $1200+ for Chinese made guitars will work for Epiphone. Not when brands like Schecter, LTD and PRS SE exist.
