Ragnar was more intelligent or at the least more deeply thoughtful and inquisitive than most around him which is what pushed him to explore rumors of the west, to explore Christianity, break the rules of his culture. He didnt live for war or glory and this led to great conflict within him as he grew older and unsure of himself, and his heading. You can see this curiosity, thoughtfulness and longing for me to a degree in Ubbe unlike the others who are all very clear of vision and wrapped up in simply being viking. The actor also best mimicked ragnars manurisms with a bit less of the crazy showboating which Ivar best embodied and bit more of the calmness (which could be seen as products of their very different starts in life) You see it from the first moment they meet as adults where the others look angry (including ubbe at first) Ragnar then does his showboating to the people, his grand manipulation and you can see all his brothers get confused and scared, unsure of what they're doing except him who remains level headed, sees through all of it and just looks hurt until Ragnar realises this and that Ubbe will actually fight him if he goes any further with the sharade so he walks up to him and hugs him and they both break down. In the end the writers decide who Is making the most intelligent decisions episode by episode but in terms of demeanor and how the actor portrayed himself, Ubbe came off as the most deeply thoughtful. They tried to show his fathers likeness to a degree as well with his friendship with loki, obviously his style, and focus on exploration, farming and dabbling in Christianity. But it was always evident who he was without any of that as you say. This show really dissapointed me because it has such fantastic actors and some really solid writing but so much of the later seasons because such fantasy cliched drivel. The subtlety of stuff like this was lost. Any grip on reality even in a sense of reality within a fictional take on history was gone. Armies of angry (makeup covered) women, an elite warrior invalid. Constant visits by the gods. A long speech explains that a charachter was cool every time one dies. Everything became so on the nose and contrived. The days of never truly being able to pin the convictions and plans of Ragnar and Eggbert were like night to day when next to where the writing whent.
Ubbe had the calm, composed and compassionate part of Ragnar, but he also had his Iq too. It’s why Ubbe is the only one in this video that lived a full life.
In real life ubbe/ubba one of the best leading warlords in England in his own way he was a king in a land he never fully conquered but conquered much of it along with many of its Kings and Lords, while Ivar took over Ireland, Ubbe was taking over England

Ubbe embodied the explorer in Ragnar, he may not have been the best fighter, or had the most raw power, or been the best king, but he embodied the things that made Ragnar so fun to watch, and went on to do the things Ragnar would’ve wanted to in his earlier years.
I feel bad for Ivar.He was portrayed evil.But deep down he wanted to be loved.Greed n power brainwashed him.But the end scene with Hitsverk was epic.He was so scared n regretted for everything he did.
