i once had a quote on my profile on a hardware forum site "intel fanboy forever" but it seems that the "forever" part was a lie.. now i own a ryzen 5 3600x and im more than happy..
My first computer build in 06 was AMD, stayed AMD until about 2010 when it became obvious Intel was simply better. I switched to the first ryzen when it came out and was so glad to see AMD being relevant again. Competition forces innovation, Intel would have been happy releasing 4c/4t i5s with 5-10% performance boost for decades if Ryzen had not happened. They always claimed consumers did not need more than that and that it would be too expensive to release an i5 with more cores.
Funny, I'm an AMD fanboy on Intel. For the games I play Intel is still the best choice, AMD have closed the gap significantly but 11th gen is actually an incremental step forward and it's a shame that the mainstream channels have become so misleading. You can see a number of other channels highlighting OC vs OC performance and see a number of games where Intel beat AMD and it is like all these big channels are purposely overlooking the main reason to buiy a K CPU with a Z motherboard is to overclock, otherwise just buy a 11400 and spend more on your GPU. It's actually got into insane reasoning IMO. There is no competition from AMD for the 11400 and for the typical game that CPU makes the most sense because you will see no noticeable improvement in a typical game if you are not staring at your FPS number but it is a whole lot cheaper. And if you are a competitive gamer in a simulation or similar game where single core performance is essential then an overclocked top end Intel CPU is your best option. Unless productivity outside of games is an important factor then everthing inbetween a 11400 and a 11900K is a waste of money. If productivity is important then you should buy AMD because Intel have no competitve options. As a simracer who primarily plays iRacing in a Pimax Intel and Nvidia is my best option and as a AMD fanboy that makes me sad but I think it is more sad to watch all these BS videos and see the comments under them from the people who listen to these guys who all seem to have forgotten basic things.
@@StansTechStuff I think what you have written is incorrect. Yes the high end gaming CPU market is small, yes the number who overclock is small but I think you'll find the percentage of people who buy a 11900K and don't overclock it is smaller because those people are morons and most morons don't have enough money to buy a 11900k. If you buy a K CPU and don't OC it, you are giving up free performance. If you buy a K CPU and don't OC it you are paying extra for no good reason. The only reason to buy an Intel K CPU is because you are aware of the extra performance that comes with the OC and you specifically want that extra performance. And a key advantage of the 11th gen is the ability to OC by core and they have made it an easy thing to do. Why else would you hook up a 360mm rad? In the past all these guys got it and back then they said exactly what I'm writing here. Now they are teaching people to be dumb and throw away money. The correct advice has always been and still is, if you are looking for the best value performance save on your CPU and put it to your GPU, right now the 11400 might be the best option in that regard especially at higher resolutions unless you need performance for productivity apps. If you need the best possible gaming performance and already have the best GPU then get the best CPU for the main game/s you play and overclock it. And there is no one best so to find out which one is best for you, you need to see OC results for that game. What channels do you watch now for that information? Not these ones. But there are plenty of other channels now highlighting OC performance of AMD vs Intel with Intel winning in a lot of games.

derbauer did an pretty good day 1 analysis on why the chopped off 2 cores. TLDR, the new cores are ~24% bigger in terms of die size. Also the the new Xe GPU is a bigger portion of the overall die. So an 8-core Rocket Lake die is overall bigger that a 10-core Cofee Lake R die, despite having 2 less cores. It looks like that most of the gains of the new architecture were based on being made in 10nm, not 14nm. The new core arch is more complex (avx-512 is a bigger portion of the core). Its definately the last hoorah of the much refined 14nm. Probably the most succesfull process technology in history, but stayed a year too long...

@@theauthenticsteve The 11th gen is just a stopgap for intel so they can utilize the new PCIe 4 that AMD has BEEN using.
@@theauthenticsteve OCing also reduces the lifespan of the chip. I don't OC unless I really need it.

derbauer did an pretty good day 1 analysis on why the chopped off 2 cores. Mandalorian: This is the way... Jay: this is the way... 🤣 Nice to see this point of AMD reborn
I was in a micro Center today and they had at least five 5800X available not to mention the 5600X they had. All at MSRP.
I didn’t understand much in here, other than I’m glad I went with Ryzen 5 for my first build.
that's exactly was my thought
Man ive been telling my friends since ryzen came out intel is going to lose the ground its gained. The model of tye chips and how the mobo future proofing for builds idk just makes sense in the long run and one if tye first time ive actually seen this level of foresight from a corp at that level.
Well if Intel can get it's next chips on TSMC nodes...even if they have to licence them, then Intel could storm ahead. But yeah right now outside of the bargain bucket 10400 chips, Intel has big problems.... Luckily for them AMD cannot fill orders and Intel will still sell all it can make to it's business clients.
@@brokeandtired yeah that is the way of things. Really makes you think where things would stand without covid hitting.
My bet is Intel is going on a long-term plan. They can't compete at the moment with AMD but they have the advantage of building their own and they just invested 20 billion into opening 2 new places to build the CPUs. Intel has a few rough years ahead and I think they know it. I'd put money on that they are laying the groundwork for sorting themselves out and getting ahead again in 3-5 years.
@@Jack29245 for sure im not saying in any way that amd has won out right. I deff see a comeback for intel. A tug of war is healthy. Promotes innovations
@@brokeandtired I doubt they'll get much out of TSMC given they're publicly saying they're only using them as a stop gap while telling everyone they're going to make chips for others on their own fabs. It's almost like they don't actually want to use them but doing it in a way that it doesn't look like they're the ones saying no.
Thanks for the heads up! I was able to score a 5800x from BB. Their queue system works well as they release stock gradually. Now, to get a GPU... 🤨
I'd really love to know where, and by whose hand, the root of all this scalping is actually happening..
The company's themselves along with the usual grime. Dont forget scalping is what amazon and the like do everyday as the domestic customer cant get to manufacturers etc. MSI were literally caught red handed scalping their own stuff!
It wont stop untill the mining becomes unprofitable. Miners are willing to pay a lot more for a card than your average gamer
That music during the benchmarks goes dummy hard!!
If you're going to disable iGPU use, wouldn't the KF version be the fairer comparison (for price and maybe power consumption)?
Lol just 2 mins and sooo many people here... Seee people love u
3.28 million subscribers so i think people love him lol
@@pauleckman8852 xD lmao Idk why I put up this comment probably was still had a hangover
5800X on amazon uk £425 with free delivery
11900k on ebuyer uk £429.99 but there is a delivery charge
I would still pick the AMD due to being in stock, cheaper and a much better cpu all round.
But that is just my thoughts and pick which ever fits your build and have fun.
I think you were looking at the wrong chip on Ebuyer, the i9-11900k is £529.98
@@b0bst3r yeah just checked, still picking AMD due to not wanting to buy a new mobo plus have to flush out all the amd software, good catch as didn't want to give bad intel.
Yes I did mean the plan on words too lol
@@gamingwithsmokeydan Yah AMD all the way for me too, currently on a 3600 and pondering if I need to upgrade.
@@b0bst3r sitting on a 3600x which I plan to upgrade to a 5600x and gift my dad my cpu for gaming, though with the price difference not much from a 5600x to a 5800x I may go with the 5800x depending on funds, stock and if a 3070 gpu is not in stock for a decent price.
@@gamingwithsmokeydan The 5800X makes more sense as an upgrade. Not that the 5600X is bad, it's not, just you're getting a more obvious uplift given it's a generation AND a tier above the 3600X.
Inspired by your last build video I swapped from Intel to a 5800X (with the Asus Tuf Gaming X570 motherboard) yesterday. My system is now very much GPU limited.
I saw this coming miles away, that's why I pick 5800X at the time when many reviewers shitting on it.
Payed off for ya too as it being the "Red Headed Step Child" of the generation, it's alot of times is the easiest to pickup.
Yeah didn't quite understand the hate for the 5800x, couldn't be happier with mine and got it at MSRP
At the time the software for the 5800x was horrible, that's why people didn't like it. With the new updated drivers and BIOS tweeks it has gotten a lot better.
@@bond1_mjblosser smart people understood the fact that the 5800x has gimped ccx
thats why no one smart wanted one, and they saved for a 5950x or just got a 10850k or 10900kf
3400g here could not be happier.
Love the content bro👌
Great review as always. Glad to see this era of Intel end with a Thud.
this video aged well
Amd with the 16 core 32 thread 5950x right now 😎
@C a l a m i t y
Probably more than that actually xD. I mean, depending on what your doing even basic ass tasks today like browsing and video streaming can be done by a Core 2 duo from 2010's, only if the system had an SSD it'd work fast
Eyy Jay, cant you do a video about Ryzen Master? Like a half little tuning / advanced tuning? :D
Iv more or less looked at it and found an auto mode...not sure it relly does much on auto though.
Coffin Lake: Intel Inside (R)
Intel literally just hired Pat Gelsinger who is regarded as one of he best CEO's of the modern era...and he is also pretty much the reason the x86 architecture was invented. Based on this alone I know Intel will be back in a big way in 3-5yrs. Remember this comment
Somr youtubers ignore reality
Sure, but what matters now is reality, they've been left behind with the dust, future matters when it becomes the present
In my country things are looking good like 5000 series cpus are selling bellow msrp and are in stock, also rtx 2060 gpus are slowly coming back in stock and there some 3090s but they are scalped at lowest 2.700€
About less cores, I thought it was because rocket lake arch is built for 10nm, but it was backported to 14nm, thus no space for more than 8 cores.
Can't wait for the reviews of the other Intel Bulldozers.
Hey there... When i upgraded my pc from a AMD FX-8150 with 16 gb ram, i did check a lot of info about Intel and AMD cpu... I went with a AMD Ryzen 9 3900X with 64 gb ram, thats what i could get that was in stock. Ryzen 9 5900X and 5950X are still not in stock yet... Glad i did it, the noise from my system, is great. Reading a CD/DVD/BluRay makes more noise than the rest of my pc... BTW water cooled with a standard corsair H115i Platinum...
When Intel finally masters the 7 nanometer process, AMD may already be on the 5 or 3 nanometer process.
Unless Intel skips and goes directly to the 3 nanometer process.
I just checked Newegg, and the 11900k are all sold out at $900 to $1100 so people got them. LOL
for once I actually hope scalper bots bought all of them.
Half a year after this video: "Intel beats AMD!"
I swear Intel naming just gone nuts. All those number can easily confuse customers
lol.. The size of that Intel box is hilarious... Nice to see AMD killing it now!
They needed to justify the price somehow... at least now when you buy intel you get a free dog house for your chihuahua.
Why isn't Sony Vegas or After Effects ever used for rendering video benchmarks?? or is it? I'm not really sure if there'd be a difference from premier pro or not.
i remember hearing that a guy before you said same words during pentium era between 3 and 4..that means...INTEL GONNA RELEASE A MONSTER CPU BASE ON GOLDEN COVE ARCHITECTURE..
14nm shameful
