Fabulous job. Super helpful for diy patio that I am currently working on. FYI for fire pit charcoal and wood pellets are great alternatives to wood. I cruise the discount/clearance for any.
Y’all did a wonderful job! 👏 Please move the fire pit AWAY from your house. Back of property is better. Lost a friend and her family a couple years ago due to sparks that reignited and blew onto the house overnight. They died from smoke inhalation, of course and firefighters said the fire got big and hot in a matter of minutes and they probably never knew. 😢 Better to be safe than sorry.
I live in North Carolina fire pits have to be 10 feet from your house be safe love what you did. I have the planters I need to clear the area and add the gravel.
I'm deeply sorry for your painful loss! My Dad used to be a volunteer firefighter when he was young. I learned at a very young age the importance of fire safety. So many ways a fire can start, spread quickly or be reignited. I had friends that thought I was always overly cautious. As an adult I worked on a house that had severe fire damage after someone left something on the stove unattended. The first floor had to be completely gutted. The damage was so scary to see. About 10 yrs ago I had to call the fire department after I noticed that a neighbor's previous outdoor fire, they had at night, near their house, it had reignited during a dry & windy day. The fire department stayed about an hour to make sure it was completely out, that the ground was completely saturated with water. Then they waved at me, yelled over to thank me for calling them. I like to keep water on hand when using the BBQ or fire pit that's kept a good distance away from our house. I cover it with water when I'm finished using it.
Beautiful!!! You mentioned the fire pit placement. Code in our city is 15 feet from any building. In our previous home, we put in a nice patio with around an area for a fire pit. Our contractor said it really wouldn’t matter where the fire pit was. I pointed out the house two doors down that The Four Seasons porch looked over our backyard. I said the fire chief lives there. Our neighbor, Jim, the fire chief, said he would never come over with a tape measure.
I learned a couple years ago that if I put cardboard over the darn plastic or lawn fabric everyone tells us to use, I just don’t need to worry about it again. The cardboard is virtually impossible for grass or weeds to grow up through.
What a project! Fantastic job! You completely transformed that area into a relaxing, functional area that can be enjoyed by your family and friends. Also Happy Birthday Oliver!
Soooo beautiful and tranquil. I wish! Just bought my first home at age 50 but by myself, I can't do things like this. It'll take me years to create a peaceful place in my backyard. But this is absolutely inspiring. ❤
Way to go!!! I am the same when it comes to taking a bit to get things done. I've never been able to buy a house and I just turned 56 8 days ago. :/ One day I will! :) If I wasn't in the middle of nowhere Nebraska, I'd come help do what you'd want done in your yard. I can't work anymore (originally cause of a severe work injury as a prison guard then MS decided to try and win...but I'm doing my best not to let it), but I LOVE helping folks, pretty good with a hammer & saw (self taught, thank you RUclipsrs!!), SUPER good at finding material needed, etc. But the house I rent is owned by a super duper nice guy, and I can do whatever I want except bad stuff (obviously). The past renters destroyed it (in my eyes) so I have my work cut out, but I LOVE it. :) Again, congrats on your house!!!!!! :)
@@MissJenni5309 I'm sorry to hear about your work injury! I actually had back surgery and about 4 dozen injections so i'm limited to what I can do too, but I make it work. I am doing a little at a time. Its coming along nicely so far. I can't wait to schedule like a week vacation to really try to get more done than I'd usually get done over the weekend. :) You're such a sweetheart for offering to help! Thank you. I found a coworker that does landscaping! Who knew? He's going to help me get alot done this summer so I am really looking forward to those accomplishments! Good luck to you! Thanks again!
This is truly a budget patio and I LOVE IT!!! I feel like putting a garden bed at the edge would help to separate it from the lawn and make it feel more cozy❤️
Looks really great and is definitely budget friendly. I have noticed a lot of people using pea gravel with mulch glue you spray on with a 2-gallon yard sprayer. This coats the gravel to keep it from moving and you can spray it off with a hose or blow it with a leaf blower to keep it clean.
This is beautiful thank you for sharing and your creativity I am moving soon and would love to do this! This is do-able without crazy garage tools that people pre have in their home that normal people do not have
Your patio expansion turned out really cute. Best thing it really didn’t cost that much. It will be nice to have with Oliver’s birthday around the corner.
Looks awesome! Careful with the firepit being that close to the siding. Had a friend that used his gas grill under the overhang because it started raining. The heat melted his siding.
Love this! Very pretty! We have a sitting area that I hope to have professionally covered in flagstone someday. After seeing your diy, I am thinking pea gravel would be great in the interim. Thanks for sharing! What a sweet little family. Good job Momma! Takes me back to doing diys when my kiddos were little. All successful, hardworking adults now. Our children benefit so much from being involved in hard work.
First of all. Love it! Question: would you consider putting up a sail shade? If so where would you look to buy one and would the posts hold it up tight?
Landscaping or weed block fabric. Don't knock Ace Hardware! You can get a lot of things there that you can't get at the big box stores. And all Ace Hardware stores are locally owned stores. Nice little makeover. You don’t have to go extravagant to have a nice space. One thing you could add to make it easier are pavers. And i highly suggest moving that fire pit farther away from your house. Just in case you have sparks coming off that wood & catching the house on fire. Good job!
This looks so nice! We just tore down our old deck and screened in porch because the deck side was rotting. We are rebuilding one big screened in porch. We are doing it ourselves because the contractor wanted way too much money. I can’t wait until it is done.
What a great budget friendly idea! 👌 We are wanting to add a fireplace area in our backyard, but concrete is SO EXPENSIVE. I'm going to mention this to my husband. ☺️🤗
Please don’t show your baby online in his diaper, you have no idea who is saving these images and where they end up on the dark web. Maybe watch youtuberheadlines video she posted today talking about where these videos end up and it’s gross.
Honestly I like that you don't know the names of some of the stuff you do for the project and the RUclips video. Makes you more relatable. I appreciate it.
Aw Lauren, it looks sooo good!! Creating outdoor areas like this adds value to your home and is just so enjoyable! Excited for Oliver’s birthday coming up!! I’ve been here since you were pregnant with him, and he is just so darn cute!!💙🐮💙🐮💙
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope y'all are having a great week! :-)
Thanks.
Great job.
I love my out door space too. ❤
🎉

True!! And campfires or pits in cabin areas can ignite those big trees because their roots run all over the place.
I promise the best part of the video is the sweet baby crawling without a carry in the world. So innocent and beautiful💕
Beautiful!!!

I'm here for the crawling baby any day!
Just seeing your little chunky cutie pie crawl around while you were working made my day. The video was all about him n his cuteness for me❤
What a project! Fantastic job! You completely transformed that area into a relaxing, functional area that can be enjoyed by your family and friends. Also Happy Birthday Oliver!
The baby crawling on the grass was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👸🏾👸🏾👸🏾 so
Soooo beautiful and tranquil. I wish!

Your first house?! That’s amazing!! Buying a house is such a big accomplishment!! So proud of you!!

Lauren and Will - you had a vision, had a budget and made it happened!! Looks amazing!! You did a great job!!
Turned out very nice! What I love most is that you took this on together.
The baby, the puppy, y'all had all kinds of help ! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
You did an awesome job!! So fun to see you and your husband working together. Your little one is so cute.
I needed this. We bought a new house, but can't afford to do the yard yet so I needed some inexpensive makeover ideas. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing you just gave me great idea on area I had no idea how to fix
Cute. I have a brick patio extension. But grass is growing in it. I’m planning on redoing it and maybe extending the walk way
This is truly a budget patio and I LOVE IT!!! I feel like putting a garden bed at the edge would help to separate it from the lawn and make it feel more cozy❤️
The transformation was amazing!!! You looked like a resort retreat. Great job!!
Wow !!! What a nice job! Good work, Will and Lauren! Looks so cozy !!!

Well done! It's beautiful. Great place for morning coffee and devotions.
Thank you! Yes! ❤️❤️❤️
Omg, Oliver crawling through the grass made the whole video. 😆
I love that your baby is out in the grass. That's so wholesome and awesome for their sensory input and antibody development.
Lauren amazing job!! Just perfect!
Thick heavy-gauge black plastic sheeting would probably hold up better than the lawn fabric which shreds over time. Nice job though.
It has really transformed that area! Looks fabulous...
I love pea gravel. Easy to walk on and it always looks good.
So cute and cozy! I hope you enjoy so many cozy evenings out there.
Awe! Oliver looks exactly like Will! Backyard looks beautiful.
I am doing some of the same in my yard. Pea gravel is the way to go. Your yard looks wonderful. Also love your gray furniture. Enjoy
I love your project! I had a question with the whiskey barrels and cement. Do you know about how many bags you needed for each barrel?
Nice video yet I chose concrete pavers and mulch to do mine. Now to add your idea of the string lights and flower pots 🌺 😍
This is beautiful thank you for sharing and your creativity I am moving soon and would love to do this! This is do-able without crazy garage tools that people pre have in their home that normal people do not have

Great job, everything looks beautiful, thanks for sharing.
I love this! Definitely liking this idea for our backyard.
I love it! It looks so cozy without being overdone and fussy.
First of all. Love it! Question: would you consider putting up a sail shade? If so where would you look to buy one and would the posts hold it up tight?
This is so cute. Thanks for all the good ideas

Beauty + Budget= my favorite things!!
Really beautiful, your backyard patio turned out. 🎃
Thank you for this idea! Our budget is like yours and this is going to be fabulous!
Great job. Love this idea. Thank you for sharing.
Flat marshmallows; I've never heard of those, but great idea for s'mores!
This looks so nice! We just tore down our old deck and screened in porch because the deck side was rotting. We are rebuilding one big screened in porch. We are doing it ourselves because the contractor wanted way too much money. I can’t wait until it is done.
Very sweet and cozy. Great video.
It looks beautiful!!!!! You and Will did an awesome job!!! I know you will make many memories out there!!!
Your hard work turned into an amazing new outdoor area! Thanks for sharing.
Aw you guys are the cutest little family. I love what you did with your outdoor space Lauren!! You and Will make a great team!!
So nice. Y'all did a great job. Love doing home projects with my husband.
Oh Lauren how sweet this space is! 🔥
I love all you have done, it looks so cozy and relaxing.
I would recommend using river rock instead of pea gravel because pea gravel gets stuck in your shoes and tires if you put it in your driveway.
Y'all did a GREAT job!!
It looks great! You guys did an awesome job!!
Very nice job. So sweet.
Maybe ablation table and umbrella for an eating area? Looks great!!
Baby Oliver is the cutest and sweetest!!😭💛 I love seeing him in your videos and posts!!✨
Your backyard is gorgeous and so cozy. Thank you for sharing your DIY.
What a great budget friendly idea! 👌 We are wanting to add a fireplace area in our backyard, but concrete is SO EXPENSIVE. I'm going to mention this to my husband. ☺️🤗
Love the idea! Thanks for sharing!
I just had to giggle at your baby bear-crawling on the grass. Mine does the same thing 😂
Looks so cozy!
I actually would love to do this in our back yard the kids would love it
I’ll have to show my hubby !
TFS !😊
Please don’t show your baby online in his diaper, you have no idea who is saving these images and where they end up on the dark web. Maybe watch youtuberheadlines video she posted today talking about where these videos end up and it’s gross.

Amazing!! Super cute and on budget ❤
Great job 👌! It looks so amazing! Oliver steals the show! He is so adorable!😇
Made such a difference, looks so beautiful and cozy! ☺️
That looks really nice and easy to do! Thanks for the tips!
It looks amazing, you both did a wonderful job!!! Such a cozy spot to hang out and relax!👍🧡
❤Beautiful and cozy. Great job and Happy Birthday🎉. Looks amazing.
You should wrap the bottom of the posts with waterproof lining before potting up so it does rot the post over time
I believe that grass is called lemon grass. It’s also supposed to keep mosquitos away if you have enough of it. Geraniums also keep mosquitos away.
Your makeover came out awesome thanks for sharing!
I know this is going to look so good💛 wow that’s crazy pea gravel is a good gravel that can help extend stuff we use pea gravel outside 💛
This turned out so good! Love all the pretty colors! The pea gravel is such a good idea!! ❤
Super cute backyard makeover. I've got to take a few days and do something to our yard areas too. Thank you for the inspiration. ❤️❤️
Love it!! Glad i found your video. Great ideas. Subscribed
Great job. I'm heading to Lowes in the AM
YOU GUYS DID SUCH A BEAUTIFUL JOB!!! YOU'VE INSPIRED ME!!!!❤
I’m most definitely doing this. Thank you for the inspiration! I loved the way it turned out. !!
Hi, wow your project came out great! Question, when the gravel gets wet does it make a mess, like does it become muddy?
Not at all!
great job how did the rain gutter workout directly on gravel?
Thank you! It hasn’t been an issue!
Oliver is sooo cutie ☺️ loved the makeover
So when you plant make sure to break the roots if not they will get root rot
Aw Lauren, it looks sooo good!! Creating outdoor areas like this adds value to your home and is just so enjoyable! Excited for Oliver’s birthday coming up!! I’ve been here since you were pregnant with him, and he is just so darn cute!!💙🐮💙🐮💙
Looks really nice! Great job! God bless!
Really pretty, is the pit to close to the house?
This looks so good!!! You guys did a great job! I love how it turned out! Very cute
