The whole learning, concentrating on what you're doing and taking time to delve into all the things with all the community interactions is pretty much a solid mental health minute, especially if you can experience it in VR. Basically My Little DCS: Flying is Magic XD
My God that was so well said, as a 72 year old using DCs I find it totally inspiring that I and other people can still learn something worthwhile and reach our dreams and have fun.

Inspiring stuff. I want to join Shadowlands and embark on that journey. I know it will benefit me. At 50, my life seems upside down; I'm in the second year of a degree and have recently assumed a management role in my career for the first time. I work a 10-hour day, come home, and study for another 2 or 3 hours. I'm a father to two amazing children, one of whom is a math genius. My wife is also pursuing a degree and holds a responsible role within a local council. As a former military man whose father served in the RAF for 25 years, I simply don't have the time to commit to Shadowlands right now. However, I want you to know that you resonate with people like me and deeply touch my soul. I completely understand the message, and I hope to join you all when my schedule becomes more accommodating.
Over the past 8 months of playing DCS I have also given up smoking weed (2 months ago), cut back on adult materials, I have spent 10 intentional months without phone service, I have won 3 awards with my school Newspaper Journalism, and I finished my first year of the Commercial Photography Program toward my first degree. I am 39 years old and have been doing everything I can to stay focused and healthy and embrace the inner child inside of myself. I can attest to the fact that DCS is not only a fun way to kill some time, but it has really helped me in so many other facets of my life. I am now looking into finding mentorship towards becoming an aviation photographer, and someday I hope to acquire a pilot license so that I can fly in real life and also combine it with my passion for photography. I am still not very skilled in DCS, I have only shot down two enemy players, but I try and play and practice every day.

What a great video. I have P3D, DCS and MSFS and DCS is my place to go when I want to escape. I get in an F16 and just disappear into the sky. No other simulator has captured the immersion of DCS yet. I remember climbing through an inversion and it was so immersive, I could feel the cold air fill my nostrels as I broke the layer. My brain created something that wasn't there and sometimes that's exactly what you need your brain to do.
Yes, out of all the flight sims out there, DCS is what replicates a real flying experience for me. Yesterday, I took an F-18 from Kolkhi all the way out to a Carrier on the server that was 200 miles away and just looking at the sea and the never-ending horizon as they merged was an amazing experience especially in VR. I even dialed up another pilot who was 50 nm to the north and had a chat on voice chat, brilliant.

Like Tim my father was a police officer and I felt like this was the difference between my dads home voice and when I’d see him doing a tv interview
I ride a high powered heavy motorcycle for the "you have to focus on this stuff" - recently, the Mrs turned to me with a "I've always poked fun at you for flight sim games, but, maybe that might help with my anxiety about flying" - so for that, I use MS Flight Sim.
It's not the game, it's how you use it.

Great update! I do wish Eagle Dynamics would release the update for the F-5E - a beloved DCS aircraft, but it is really showing its age, and Wags confirmed there is an update in the works. Fingers crossed soon!

I'm loving the performance increase in VR 😍 You're tweet Tim about being in a tank, have you tried put Combined Arms ? It's not as good as ARMA 3 but I'm currently addicted to it after visiting the Bovington tank museum 3 times in the past 6 months..

DCS need to get the Tornado out there.....
They tried, but most of its systems are still classified. Germany has it in service still

The IDS model (roughly equivalent to GR.1) is currently in development by AvioDev.

For me, physical exercise and fresh air, preferably in a 'green' environment have proved far more beneficial for my mental heath than anything screen-based.
