I don't even think that it is too unrealistic. Looks like a very short but fun ride which could be nice for beginners who are too afraid to ride an actual coaster. What I do think is unrealistic is that you can just build the same ride over and over again and nobody cares.
This coaster design has come through for me on so many scenarios, so much so that I have it pre saved in my track list under the name "Marcel". Only problem with that is that when I spam it in my park, I often don't bother changing the name and end up with a bunch of coasters named "Marcel" which then leads to the game eventually telling me "Marcel has broken down" and I don't know how you feel about that.
better yet... imagine banging your head trying to come up with ideas to fit 10+ coasters in your park.... and realizing that all you needed were just 4 tiles and a entrance
Marcel Vos, in his ceaseless pursuit of efficiency, creates a bleak dystopian theme park where thousands of guests are enthralled to pay five bucks for four seconds of hollow thrill, and then do it again on the exact same ride a short walk away, rejecting actual roller coasters to satisfy their craving for the single inversion.
Wait! Listen !! Why don't *we* build it!? I'm sure either one of us can cobble together 350 bucks. If not, we can start a croudfunder and we can all chip in a few loose coins for Marcel to build one. We just need to find a field or a car park to build it. Or, maybe even the beach...
I like to just place one as a junior ride. I've seen real 'rollercoasters' in the kids area of a park that look less entertaining than being launched into a half corkscrew.
This is because some scenarios don't leave you with much room for building. A great example of this would be the Micro Park scenario from the Loopy Landscapes expansion pack. You're given a park size of 15x15: that's it. No land buying is available for this scenario. As you can imagine, this design is an absolute must for that scenario.
OpenRCT2 could do something similar to what OpenTTD does where the title screen is an example of a working park (other than the default one) and have one of Marcel's parks be one of those parks

I don't really use it myself anymore either, except when I'm really trying to optimize. The great thing is though that you can learn from these tiny designs and create slightly larger designs that are more efficient than usual.
When saving the track design make sure inspections are set to 10 mins as a brake failure will always crash this, but its such a rare breakdown that you probably won't run into it within normal scenario play unless you have 10s of these or a very old park. thought i'd never use these in scenario play, till i ran into absurdly small/annoying scenarios like japanese coastal reclaim/micro park/urban park. also a good way to finish a scenario if i'm out of space but already near the goal.
I would like to point out, that the LIM coaster has three cars and the suspended coaster has 4 cars, which means they have a higher throughput then the corkscrew. This might make them more efficient then the corkscrew coaster. In the end all three coasteres have their pros and cons. Anyways, great viedeo as usual.

Over the years i have experienced this coaster going beyond the corkscrew and crashing. It is very rare so i think it only happens when the coaster is filled with heavy guests. Tough luck.
I just tested the ride with the heaviest train possible and it didn't crash, so at least in OpenRCT2 you don't have to worry about guests making it too heavy.

Thank you so much for this video. I actually ended up being curious whether or not this design works in RCT3 as well and it does! Several coaster types end up with decent stats with this design and will easily earn themselves back. They also bring in a lot of new guests when you're playing pay for entry scenarios like New Blood. I actually beat that one by building a long street with just these. I love having them all identical, but giving them fun names like "Haunted Cork" or "Vierbaan" (halve achtbaan). This design really improved my speed on scenarios! Thanks!
Great video Marcel! I was wondering if you could do a breakdown of something for me: If we were to raise the terrain under a guest from minimum to maximum height, what is the g-force that we would end up inflicted on them? How does this theoretical g-force compare to that which can be produced by rides?
I finally had an opportunity to use this design in a scenario, and I don't know if I've ever had that many guests so fast. I'm definitely going to keep using the design lol
I truly appreciate seeing your videos, you put so much effort into them with explaining every little detail. Thanks, Marcel...and I will as always catch your next livestream!
I actually placed several of these in a Halloween themed area of a park I did. I arranged them and colored them in such a way that they blended in with the Graveyard themed scenery area I had them placed in. It sort of made it so it was like the dead were reaching arms out of their graves, ready to rise again. At the center of the graveyard was the big centerpiece coaster, which was called "Necromancy". Lore friendly way to implement them in the park without it being extremely obvious cheese. XP
Although I like building more realistic roller coasters it’s pretty funny how it has such good ratings. Also your breakdowns of this game are amazing man, it’s fascinating just how much details and quirks this game contains knowing Chris sawyer made it 20 years ago.
This also works with the corkscrew coaster in RCT1, I tested it out to find a powered launch coaster that can do a half corkscrew and it worked surprisingly well and has roughly the same stats.
Chris Sawyer: Here is a video game for you to make massive coasters and great theme parks! Marcel: Hold my 300 unnecessary parts for a Corkscrew Roller Coaster.

I managed to eke out +0.63 excitement with scenery, synchronization, putting the queue under the inversion, and putting the stations underground. Costs more but you could probably get away with charging an extra $1-2 for the first 5 months if that's a concern.
2:52, is it something that is only possible on updated versions of the game? I remember my RCT1 reliably crashing when 2 different coaster tracks directly connected to each other.
I ran the scenario today where you were limited by tree height, I used this first design about 10+ times in my park and the guests LOVED it. Not only that but I kept receiving the Award for "Best Roller Coasters" and it was the only design I had. This was better than 99% of stock tracks. I think this has broken rct2 for me.
is that one tile in the 'middle' of the curve completely empty? not that there's anything useful to put there in a 1x1 square but could you technically build something 1x1 that needs vertical clearance?
I cant believe 16 year old me hit on this when I was playing it back then, even thought I built it with a screw on both sides and set it to launch several times to give the guests a bit more meaty experience.
Teacher, I have a question! Do you need to use two station platform tiles, or could you get away with one and then place the entrance and exit on opposite sides? I feel like when it comes to efficiency, having two station platforms lets you build them closer together, but I guess I want to know if this is the smallest functional coaster, or if we can go even further.

Does putting it in sync mode (e.g. at 3:20) affect the stats/profit significantly?
Love your short to the point content!
This tip and the 20euro umbrella tip makes allmost every scenario so easy
absolutelt outstanding dude😃
I cant believe 16 year old me hit on this when I was playing it back then, even thought I built it with a screw on both sides and set it to launch several times to give the guests a bit more meaty experience.
What wooden coaster is that at 1:19 ?
Teacher, I have a question!
Do you need to use two station platform tiles, or could you get away with one and then place the entrance and exit on opposite sides?
I feel like when it comes to efficiency, having two station platforms lets you build them closer together, but I guess I want to know if this is the smallest functional coaster, or if we can go even further.
With one station tile the coaster sadly won't work; it's to short for the train.
Such a great salesman for this coaster!
I made this in RCT1 and painted it all orange and called it the mini cheese 😂
When you start with this coaster design in your base opening rides whenever you start a new park, This coaster mirrored so you can get the excitment bonus aswell will earn you somuch cash in the early game it makes anny park you play so easy.
This has the same energy as the Ouroboros card in Inscryption, it lets you win everything but also feels like you're not really _doing_ anything for your victories.
Where do you get this game with the RMC coasters? Or is that something you need to download?
Marcel, how about making the two stations synchronized to boost excitement when you build the mirrored set of rides :)
What kind of "Wooden"? coaster is this at 1:19 ?
I believe thats from the RMC conversion mod made by one of the devs
That's the RMC Hybrid Coaster. Though I only got the cars from that one on my Open RCT2, I personally would also like to know how to change the track tiles like that.
@@PinkP0nyPr0ducti0n5 To use the track you have to enable "Allow arbitrary ride type changes" cheat and change a coaster type to the Hybrid Coaster

There you go
The RMC Hybrid Coaster, which is both Wooden and Twister coaster at the same time. It's been in OpenRCT for a year now or so.
2:17 That's a lotta guests. :o
Imagine going to an irl park and it's just dozens and dozens of these little corkscrew roller coasters haha.
1:33 These parks filled with the same ride over and over again look so creepy
Thanks for the tip! Gonna use it
I can’t get this one to work for me in OpenRCT2…it always crashes!
I have this coaster layout saved as ‘The Marcel Special’
That’s such a neat design, you should use it as your profile picture or something!
I know I'm late with this, but what was that Iron Horse coaster in the middle of the video? 👀
playing since RCT1, never noticed this, thanks for the tips LoL
If you also synchronise the adjecent stations in the 4 coaster version, you can get even better results
Shove a second half cork in there squeezes a little more excitement.
Also why no synchronization?
well tbh if I can see corkscrew coaster this short IRL, I would try it too and pay sum money for "short-and-weird" experience :D
People in the last row of seats, after paying 7€ for one launch into a quarter of a corkscrew: "Is this a joke?"
About a year ago I made this design in NoLimits 2😝
Wasn't a video about this design up already?
I love this design every time you feature it in your videos. I try not to use easily spammable coasters, personally, (I don't even like repeating flat/thrill rides too closely together) but then again I'm not very good at the game lol
