    Installation tips:
    1. Get Flat-band hose clap pliers, and apply a smear of 3-In-1 oil inside the new hose tips with a Q-Tip.
    2. Be careful removing and installing bolts on the firewall. If a tool or bolt falls, you will have to lift the car, possibly remove the plastic underbody cover and retrieve what fell.
    3. Patience (take your time and do it properly)

    Help educate me on why an "Oil Catch Can" should be installed - ? Thanks. And does the same apply to the 1.5 turbo engine as well? Thanks again - :).

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  6 лет назад +2

      Hello Travel Guy. Here is a brief video explaining the benefits of adding a catch can to your vehicle. Turbo vehicles also benefit greatly with catch cans to help reduce blow-by under boost.

    What is the indicating factor in knowing when I would need a catch can? Oil pressure?
    Im running a 93 octane base map with PRL HVI, RV6 Cattless DP, and PRL IC. - on a 17 CTR.

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  3 года назад +1

      The catch can will prevent oil from re-entering the intake tract. If you are seeing oil build up, then the catch can is a good idea.

  • @allencortez4841

    @ mishimoto Just got the catch can. Do you recommend applying teflon tape on the inlet and outlet fittings?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  6 лет назад +2

      Hey Allen. This really is a matter of personal preference. I, myself would add a bit of Teflon tape for reassurance. However, I will caution you not to use too much. If any excess were to get in the can, this could cause serious problems.

    When installing the hose with the bend to the valve cover, I noticed the hose didn’t plug all the way to the end and I had some difficulty moving the metal clips all the way down on the hose. Is that normal or should I make a second attempt try shimming it down some more on the valve cover?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 лет назад +1

      We would recommend giving that another shot. As long as the clamp is on there securely, you shouldn't run into problems, but better safe than sorry!

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately this catch can was designed for the K20C1 used on the CTR, the PCV system is slightly different on the K20C2 found on your vehicle.

    I'm curious to why the shorter hose have a bend when you can just make it straight?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  6 лет назад +3

      This allows the hose to flex when the engine shifts during operation. A straight hose would increase chances of there being a leak or damage to the hose over time.

    • @riichiarr3987
      @riichiarr3987 5 лет назад +1

      Engine movement back and forth...if straight, it would rip the hose.

  • @mksteezy
    @mksteezy 2 года назад +1

    For the Check valve, is out facing towards the engine so the air doesnt come back to the catch can?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  2 года назад

      The main purpose of the PCV on the engine is to prevent the crankcase from being pressurized.

    with 2oz of the can size. how many miles to drain it before it is full? how could i know it is full? what happen if i keep driving the car after the can is full that i didnt drain it?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  6 лет назад +1

      Hello Bryan. When you first get one of our catch can kits installed, we recommend checking the level every 1000 miles to establish a baseline. Most vehicles can go a full oil change 3-4 thousand miles without draining. However, every vehicle does produce different results based on thousands of variables. If the can becomes full and the level reaches over the baffle, the oil would have nowhere else to go other than into your intake system.
