TheDooo blessed one of these Sterling's with his insanely fast and talented hands.
Yea and John Petrucci created it
And torso with lack of head
daddy dooo
- Sees under £1000.
- Checks website.
- £999
- hmm well played
Don't care, it's not 399!
That's Marketing 101 and not even a lie.
Add tax and it’s a lie
UK displays prices with tax already added
Tomas Bata will be proud :D
Those opening and closing leads by Lee were some of the tastiest solo's I've hear from him in a while.
i really hate to say this, but i feel like i need to get this out... I love lee, but his playing always seem generic. He is getting a lot better, but everytime I see people saying how rob's playing is lame and lee's playing is so much more enjoyable and tastier, i cringe...
Owen Hu dude I feel the exact same, it feels half the guys here watching these videos either don't play the guitar or else there total newbies on it, his playing is decent I'm not denying that but the way half these guys make him out is he's the world's gift to the guitar. It might come a shock to alot of guys but robs playing is actually very tasteful it just amazes me he gets no credit for his amazing talent, and I am saying this as a blues guy
Oh I agree, I was simply saying that his playing in this vid was better than usual. But I personally don't like to phrase things in a negative way. So what if someone isn't necessarily as "good" as someone else, or if one person is better than another. That isn't what music is about. Music isn't a meritocracy!
krulty I was thinking the same thing!
Also, what's wrong with encouraging folk? I love Lee's playing for its feels. Is it Vai-ish? No, but few people are.
If the dooo has it I must have it
Bandwagoners lmao
Trouba jets rob is secretly the dooo
I need to correct you there: if god himself has it I need to have it.
(God applies to thedooo and to petrucci)
Bruh in the beginning, rob sounded exactly like thedooo
I KNOW RIGHT!
lee just keeps getting better. proof practice eventually makes perfect sense =)
I was also impressed with his playing in this video. good stuff.
I think this is turning more into the dooo’s signature model than petrucci’s
Yeah, that’s why I’m here
I’m here cuz i wanted to compare the sterling to my ernie ball i got a couple of months ago
Ripit. There really is no comparing them. The EB is better in literally every way except price. That being said the Sterlings are nice price point guitars and the fact that they inspect them all in the US before sending them out makes you feel better for sure
Your joke and your dp 😂👌
First, I agree with Rob's assessment of Lee's playing. He has progressed greatly the past year, imo. Also, videos like this one are the reason why I'm always excited to see a 1 next the Andertons channel in my subscriptions. The gear, the playing, and the comedy relief are just what I need each day. Thanks!
Lee's soloing was absolutely on point today. So much feeling. He's amazing.
I'm a little sad they ditched the Majesty logo 1st fret inlay on the Sterling version, but I'm still mega-interested in this guitar!
Travis Lausch As someone who isn't a big fan of that artist/style of music and aesthetic choice, but otherwise likes the guitars, I'm very happy it's gone.
I'm glad. It's a great guitar on it's own. I have no interest in advertising anything involving James labrie
Damn, Cap. Your playing gets better with every week. Smooth as all get out! 👌
That riff that Rob did at 8:16 was so cool.
For $950 these should have real Dimarzios.
Adam - Syeah, any good brand pickups (apart from the more "boutique" ones). - I have an Indonesian Ibanez that was under that price and it came with DiMarzios. - I don't like the sound of the particular ones, but they weren't some "B versions". - Then again, sometimes the "proprietary" pickups are great as well. - Such as I have an Epiphone SG that comes with pickups designed by Epiphone or Gibson, and while they look like basic brandless pickups, they're absolutely not in need of replacement soundwise.
What's the most affordable JP signature guitar that has Dimarzios?
Ok ty :)
@@leandroblensalinasgarcia2085 the jp100d. It's a sterling model, not an american model but is does have dimarzios

5:00 one of the reasons Rabea deserves a rise for editing the videos
That legit was ripped right out of Wii sports...a man of class, I see
Rabea edits them?
Bought one of these 5 months ago, and has become my go to guitar above my 2005 Les Paul Classic now. Unbelieveable guitar for the money!
That purple color on the high-end model is just sick!!! The Indo model is still pretty pricey. Certainly appreciate MM’s quality control efforts, but I’d rather purchase it for less and get it set up by a local shop or do it myself, which I think most folks would do anyway right?
Agreed. Can usually get a made in S.Korea premium guitar for that, and still have enough money left over for an effects pedal etc.
it seems thomann have a blue/purple/metallic one
Craig Fussell they have the Sterling majesty in arctic dream as well now! It's been released at NAMM 2018, looks great
It's not even close to the purple monarchy though...
Lee said it all "Licensed copies"...
Could you make a video where you show us your favorite amps in different prize-classes, and what pedals you would pair them up with? Would be great for beginners and those slightly advanced players looking to upgrade thier gear!
Guys. If the guitar comes with whammy bar system. Please use it for the purpose is the demo as it can answer the question does it stay in tune? Thanks
Tavares Project if it doesnt have a locking nut at the headstock then no it doesnt. U can use it a little but too much will make it go out of tune. Thats basic knowledge
If you have a good nut you won’t *need* a locking nut, but one is always recommended for trems.
Is it similar to a Floyd rose bridge meaning it could also go higher in pitch?
@@aarongalindo898 yes it comes set up floating, from my personal experience it stays in tune pretty well from abuse
ASIANLYIRONIC but are u able to change different tunings good?
One of the main features of the full MusicMan model that I really want is the Piezo with a single output jack on the guitar. The sterling is the same body shape but spec wise it's just another guitar. Gotta keep saving for the Majesty Artisan!
There is a small detail about the Sterling Majesty that I prefer over the full fat Music Man one. On the Music Man the routing for the humbuckers is very sculpted to uncovered humbuckers, meaning you can't fit covered ones unless you modify it. On the Sterling however you can just drop any covered humbuckers straight in.
And the MM has triangle shaped cuts outs for the pickup legs, meaning 9 times out of 10 you have to cut the corners off of the pickup legs (which is a pain to do cleanly) to fit the pickups in, or use dimarzio pickups... Hate it when they do that it's such a pain and offers nothing better visually.
Good info
Great point dude
they assume that if you buy a $3000 guitar you wont want to change the pickups
So you think the Fishman Fluence pickups would fit fine in the Sterling?
The "Dream Theater" is actually a movie theater in California and was concocted by drummer Mike Portnoy's father, Howard. For legal reasons Dream Theater had to change their name from Majesty in 1987.
Leo Fender started Music Man.
And after MM was bought, he started G&L
I used Music Man amps for a couple years back then. 1976-77. I had one the first MM guitars with the preamp in it.
I had a Music Man HD130 and 210 cab. It was quite an amazing blues amp. I wish that I still had that one! It was designed after the Bassman by Leo Fender.
I used that head with the 2x12 bass reflex bottom. I put 2 electro voice 12Ls in it. That head would get so hot the speaker jacks would melt the cables.
“Hey ho, back to the guitar!” Is the most British thing I’ve heard Lee say
"This purple monster in my hands here...."
Christopher Burnett And they're playing with a pair of Balls.
And don't forget 9-inch Pete.
Loosen your grip
Frankie Holt and Rob likes Sterlings rub
Hey Rob the song Tears of Sahara is off Tony Macalpine's 2nd album Maximum Security great instrumental album
George Lynch played on that song with Tony.
5:09 No Rob, the general guitar playing public, in fact, does care about that.
Way to go Capt, you nailed that ending solo. Beautiful!
Lee is a great guitar player with a lot of feel and he has definitely gotten better over the years!! 🤘
All right, Capt. Lee, your playing has gotten so good, and soulful I fully expect to hear a five song ep. from you soon.🤔
Enjoying the fact you dads still make time to hang out together, despite the recent sproggery!
I honestly don't think I've ever heard Lee play better then he did at the very end, truly amazing solo
Please do another 'rig' battle vid, they're so good to watch 🤘 - the under $500 rig vid is my favorite!
All of the Music Man models of are quality. I have a JP100 Koa and it is amazing. Music Man is hard to beat.
I think the people don't give Rob enough credit for his change in playing!
He doesn't shred anymore or when he does it doesn't take too much time and it fits.
Not just Lee is getting better, Rob as well!
I'm sure I'm the hundredth person to say this, but I think Lee is getting much better at guitar. I was just listening and not watching, and I thought it was still Rob soloing. Good job mate.
So Rob, how is the Sterling Majesty in comparison to the full blown American Majesty?
And can you please do a comparison where maybe you leave the extra features of the EBMM version (like the Piezo) out?
That's sorta what I was hoping to get from this video :D
Bought this guitar a few days ago, super excited for it to arrive
8:16, that was out of this world...
ikr, sick riff
Lee's playing has improved so much since this channel started, he must really be putting in some good practice hours.
Tony McAlpine is amazing! Killer pianist as well!
Forest White and Tom Walker formed Music Man with Leo Fender as a silent partner at first as Mr Fender had signed a 10 year non-compete agreement with Fender. I only know this as Mark Agnesi from Norm's rare guitars covered it the other day.
I bought mine just last week in Arctic Dream! Best guitar I’ve ever owned!
Holy Shit Lee! That was badass around 18:01 - 18:10ish, F'n Glorious!!
Wow Lee! That was some fantastic playing. I too, enjoyed that very much.
Lee’s closing lead melt my heart
They have them sent to Orange, CA to avoid the kind of QC and setup problems showing up in the Indonesian Chapmans from GC that get shipped direct to customers. Ask Phil McKnight about his Chapman/GC experience.
Dang Lee! That little jam you were doing starting at 17:20....WOW! Hit me right in the feels bro! Somebody has been woodshedding. Nice playing. As a player of a Sterling guitar, (albeit not a Petrucci model) I can tell you you absolutely cannot beat the amount of guitar you get for the money. And that is understating it because they surpass, in my opinion, many guitars that cost much more.
The major draw by eye for these seems to be the extreme high cut away for high fret access. One of the reasons I love playing PRS guitars. Can you guys comment on the playability of the Majesty compared to the other JP models?
The reason why Ernie Ball receives the guitars from their Indonesia is so they can correct any errors they have done and inspect them through their quality control sign include inspecting sheet.
Do Chapman guitars do this?
I love all guitars both brands and I bet these are built right next to the Chapman banjos.
I see you switching it up Lee. Great jam guys. Watching y'all is motivation.
Some exquisite playing from Captain Lee at the start of this video. Some tasty licks for sure!
Wow! Nice to see you guys getting inspired by these guitars. Great playing Lee, very tasty!
Does Chappers know the truth... did he spill it at 7:15? Well at any rate, its clear they have both seen at least some videos on the subject.
BTW incredible playing on this video Rob!
You did not test it with the Miku pedal!
8:18 what song is that it’s really good
I tried one of these today (unplugged) and fell completely in love with the feel and playability, so did a reality check and went on YT and am hearing that the low-end PUPS pretty much are annoying. Will have to let this dream die, $3k for a proper version is outside my comfort level. Thanks for the reviews, guys, always entertaining and helpful
Well I did watch the video. Don't know why but it left me with the distinct impression of Gary Moore, and 'empty rooms'!
Please, please, please make this video: who's budget range comes closest to their main range? Squire/fender; epi/Gibson; tribute/g&l; sterling/music man; ltd/esp; SE/PRS etc
These guitars have the Ernie Ball springy strings too for instant feedback sonically. Very easy guitar to play, especially for shredders.
That’s the best playing I think I’ve heard from the captain yet
That black n purple guitar looks majestic!
17:20 Captain got some emosh improv. Was beautiful
2018 and people still complains about where the guitar is made, and judging the price of the guitar.
Let me remind you that some USA guitars for 1000, 1500 and even 2000 are garbage compared to some Japanese (ESP) , Korean ( high range LTD's ) and even some Indonesian made guitars ( high range Jacksons ).
No one beats Navigator quality.
Are you talking about gibbo 😂 :)
I think they talk about price because those guitars that you mentioned have way more for the money: proper aftermarket pickups, more features like maybe an Evertune bridge, shit like that. The Sterling Majesty is like 700 euro for looks and 300 for actual guitar imo
I dont care where a guitar is made... but where it is made should absolutely reflect the price. If labor costs are $4/hour a guitar should never cost $1000.
And £1,000 = $1400 American
That last jam has got to be some of the best lead i've ever seen from Lee!
BRILLIANT playing Lee, Rob was right. Keep doing it.
That intro jam was great, a lick reminded me of Nick Johnston
Fantastic playing by Lee there! Very nice!
The boost seemed to push it over the edge of feedback when Rob was playing and it relaxed a bit when Lee disengaged it
The Music Man story began in 1971 when Forrest White and Tom Walker formed a company they would call Tri-Sonix, Inc (often incorrectly referred to as "Tri-Sonic"). Tom Walker approached Leo Fender about financial help in forming Tri-Sonix. White had worked with Leo in the very early days of Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company as the plant manager and stayed on after the company was sold to the CBS Corporation, but had grown unhappy with their management. Tom Walker worked as a sales rep at Fender. Because of a 10-year non-compete clause in the 1965 contract that sold the Fender companies to CBS, Leo Fender was a silent partner.
The name of this partnership was changed to Musitek, Inc. by 1973 and in January 1974 the final name, Music Man, appeared. Leo Fender did not like the name Tri-Sonix, so the name evolved under Leo Fender's suggestion to call the new company Music Man. In 1974, the company started producing its first product, an amplifier designed by Leo Fender and Tom Walker called the "Sixty Five". It was a hybrid of tube and solid state technology. The preamps used the then burgeoning solid state "op-amp" integrated circuits embodying traditional Fender preamp time constants and architecture, while the power amps typically featured a Cathode Driven Tube power amp stage, much as were used in the radio broadcast industry in AM Transmitters. There were a few models with a tube phase splitter in them, but for the most part Music Man amplifiers used the faster responding common Grid, Cathode Coupled drive from a solid state front end that players characterized as "loud as hell". The number of designs rapidly increased. 15 of the 28 pages from 1976 catalogue were dedicated to amplification. In 1975, Fender's legal restriction had expired and after a vote of the board he was named the president of Music Man.
That mesa boogie steals the show .
Rob: Tears of Sahara by TONY MACALPINE feat. GEORGE LYNCH from the album MAXIMUM SECURITY (1987) and Lee: Good luck with that one...😂
Don't know why but I enjoy hanging out with these guys haha
Lee!!!! That little shred run at 1 minute was like...dude!!! You go man!! Shreddin freak ya are!!!
So basically the only thing I learned is the pickup switch slightly moves left and right like a gear stick. Awesome.
Love it. Going to have to check out one of these and an ML3 and A-B them for my next instrument.
Just picked up a MJP100 used, and it is really very nice. Mine was made in Korea. I wonder if that is better or worse. Lol. Nice playing guys.
I love it, you're supposed to review one guitar yet end up playing a totally different one for a good part of the video
First awesome video! Lee was on 🔥! Now can I make a request. Could you guys start a series called something along the lines of abnormal guitar, or outside the lines, or wrong address. The series would have shred guitars played in a R&B, POP, Jazz, way just to see how sometimes the package doesn’t have to be used the way one might think. I think these guitars are ultra cool, but I love to play more jazz, pop, R&B type things. I still use the whammy. I still like to kick some runs into high gear, so driving a sports car guitar could be really fun. What do ya say?
For a price of £999 I was hoping they’d at least put a pair of dimarzio’s in. I expect they’ll come out with a revised version next year with those pickups and an ebony board. Those are the only changes I’d make to this budget version.
I've decided, the next guitar purchase is gonna be that red Majesty. Even though I'm totally shit at guitar, a beginner level. But gotta treat myself some time!
Thats it... After watching this vids till the end.... You guys convinced me to buy........ A sunburst Stratocaster with maple fretboard.
Great stuff guys! Whats jam roly poly? Very inspiring Lee, Rob is right. That solo was great.
Remember trying the Music Man version at a GC a few years back..it has a overall synthetic vibe that I never really jibed with. Cool looking though
Cap! About your insistence on segregating savory from sweet.
I recommend two things: 1.) Dark chocolate with chipotle chilies - a truly wonderful combination - and, 2.) Chocolate covered bacon, which is a better idea in practice than it sounds like it should be.
A little goes a long way on that chocolate covered bacon, though.
Played one at guitar center and its really nice, but the black decal was chipping off around the pickup screws. The finish looks cool from afar though
I have picked up many Sterlings, never came across a 'bad' one. The extra QC is worth it IMO.
Ooh! What's that song/lick at 8:16 from? Rob's played it in a few videos and it sounds badass and I want to learn it.
Leo Fender called the company Musicman 👌
Chappers really liked the Majesty by the looks in his face!
Yes, Lee, that was some really nice soloing! Sweet!
Obviously, YOU now have to spend 4000 pounds on a Majesty! 😁👍
They sound amazing.
19:00 Tony MacAlpine!
I’ve got one. It’s beautiful and the best guitar I’ve owned.
Great vid guys - love the riffage and humour
Hello!! Great review!! I need some help here. I’m new to the majesty. I have a Roland JC22 it’s a stereo solid state amp, how do I run the stereo feature of the guitar in to the amp? Thanks!!
The boost is massive
I'm astonished that theres not a sterling version of the Steve Morse models since he's been a musicman endorsee since 1988 iirc. I'm further astonished that Andertons dont stock any of his models or the Engl amps that he uses. Engl amps are very popular with rockers like Steve.
I have 7 string Majesty and it's too precious to pull out *every day* . So I may end up getting one of these after it's paid off
10:32 I do that everytime when someone's talking 😅
that Rob riff at 8:17 and Lee solo at the end thooooo.
Lee is getting SO. DAMN. GOOD.
