Both Nier and Nier Automata are more than worth investigating. Also I’ve enjoyed watching you describe some of my favorite tracks, it’s almost like rediscovering the hidden magic you get on your first listen.
Actually when you said "action sequence" it was right, this theme is originally played during an escape sequence ! Water flowing everywhere, it's an iconic moment
died there many times but man the hype that song gave... i have to escape, i must escape... somehow... as we go up and everything breaking down this ost... chills
@@ZorillaMyrid181 I think this is like ' restoring the light, facing the darkness' and 'escaping the ruins' mashed up together, they are basically the same track but a bit different style to fit the areas
There are some real good songs in the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps too, you can clearly see how Gareth Coker has grown as an artist as well as extra funding from the success of the first game. Not to mention the other good songs in the base game (Climbing the Ginso Tree, Up the Spirit Cavern Walls, etc.). The definitive edition of Ori and the Blind Forest also has SO many amazing songs in it too and I would love for you to break down more Ori songs (as well as Hollow Knight too). Great content! :)
The second game's songs have more weight to them, conveying malencholy and tragedy, which fits the events in Nibel, the past of Shriek, and foreshadows Ori's future all at once. Especially the tune Unblocking the Way, so much weight in that one you feel destiny on your shoulders. Don't know how I've never heard of Gareth Coker before but he's a genius.
The Ori soundtracks are basically the reason I even picked up being a musician and I'm so happy for that. Anyway, great video analysis! And yes, the games are amazing.
I still get goosebumps all over my body when I hear this music. As corny as it sounds to say, this music touches my soul in a way that few other pieces do. Also, the parts where you assumed an "action sequence" are absolutely on point! That part of the credits is absolutely the sequence used during action sequences! You got it right, sir!
I can be wrong, but if I remember well, "Light of Nibel" is a kind of medley of Ori soundtrack, thats why you got so much different emotions in the song. Both Ori's games are very good and have a very good soundtrack if you have time for it you should try them.
Even though Ori is a story told with a very few words, listening to it's soundtrack almost always makes me tear up - it's both a pure beauty of the tracks themselves and how they portray emotion and the sad, grey sided "no good or evil" story that makes my eyes watery - after playing the game you know very well that all that happens is just unfortunate sequence of events and rules of nature that create this story and I think it makes it more tragic - you can't really point a real villain after finishing it so you just feel sad for Kuro, Ori and the whole forest that things ended up how they ended up and honestly I don't know if I ever cried for any other "enemy" as hard as for Kuro - she did nothing wrong and yet payed highest price for the events that happened because of some really bad weather and unlucky events later. It's like watching one of those stories where someone had best personality and lifestyle and yet life was kicking them for nothing... exept in animal form and animal stories like this hit me even harder for some reason.
light of Nibel's beginning makes my eyes water. Ori games soundtrack are a gift to our ears. Theres something really special that makes them standout of alot of videogame soundtracks Ive listened in the last 20 years.
If you want to see more of Gareth Coker's stuff, especially how his growth is, I highly recommend the track "Ori Embraces the Light" from this games sequel. Even without context this song is a musical masterpiece the way it moves and evolves is so good and really gets to show Gareth and his talent in this field. The emotion that he is able to portray in a non lyrical setting is masterfully done and adds so much to the story. Truly a work of art.
Ori is one of my favorite game series of all time! I love Blind Forest's OST, but I have to say, Will of the Wisps has some of my favorite tracks between the games. Silent Woods in particular always brings me close to tears. It's just so devastating! It would be amazing if you checked out that track next, or heck, anything from the second game. They're just so good, and I wonder if it's just my tastes or if there is something special to them that makes them stand out more than the first game's songs (areas songs, in particular, the first game cinematics are something else imo)?
Ash and bone (silent woods main ost) is also my favorite areal ost from ori and the will of the wisps,it's just so beautiful, aside from its sense of sorrow and pain,it has that feeling of nothingness, death and stillness that the woods is known for, amazing track overall
My favourite might actually be "Meeting Kwolok". It's a short, simple track, but the buildup to the deep brass section is excellent, then a nice peaceful sendoff to end it.
To be fair, "Action Sequence" was spot on since that part is from "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark", which plays during an escape sequence and happens to be my favorite song from the game.
Absolutely! Thats what makes this song standout even more because it plays during one of the most difficult sections of Ori and the blind forest - the ginso tree escape sequence - so when you do manage to complete the sequence without being consumed by the flow of water (which takes many repeated attempts) it makes it even that much sweeter when you do finally complete that section. For me the most iconic part of the game!
Been so many years since i played this game, however as soon as i saw naru and ori i just started shedding tears. This game is a gem, a lasting impression.
These games have one of the most beautiful soundtracks i’ve ever listened to and the games are amazing and tell a story that is just as beautiful as the music. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for something to play.
You should review "Mora the spider", from Will of the Wisp. I think this track has one of the best transition from 1st boss phase to 2nd. For me, its one of the best track this amazing game has. Edit: you will recognize very easy how this song is played through the boss fight.
If you want to keep looking into the leitmotif of the Ori soundtrack, " Mora the Spider" from the sequel game "The Will of the Wisps" is absolutely fantastic.
Wow, this was really beautiful and magical. The repeating melody was giving me Nightwish vibes for some reason! I like how the melody evolves throughout, like the characters on a journey. Very nice! Thanks Davi!
I really need to play the Ori games again, I might prefer Hollow Knight as a Metroidvania but the platforming and movement in Ori is truly fantastic, the art is some of the best I've seen in any game, and the soundtrack helps it feel like a movie. All of it is truly fantastic, two of the most emotional games I've ever played. It's a shame that Moon Studios apparently isn't the greatest place to work, because the Ori games are up there with Hollow Knight as some of the best Metroidvanias I've ever played.
Great video as always! A couple of years ago, I listened to Ori OST first, before playing the game. It was already so amazing, but how wonderfully and magically every pieces sound and come to life in the world-building of the game and my playthrough! I like beautiful and poignant melodies of this piece which give me a feeling of transience of life, on the other hand, it also has powerful vibes of hope and rebirth. It feels like the cycle of the seasons. Absolutely stunning. Thank you, Davi!
In my opinion, Garett Coker goes next level with Ori and the Will of the Wisps (the sequel game). The whole score is, in my opinion, mind blowingly good, but in particular “Into the Storm”, “Now Use the Light, We Want to See!” And basically all three tracks that play in the desert really stand out to me.
definitely react to literally anything from ori and the will of the wisps. I highly recommend either "escape with the memory of the forest" or "shriek and ori"
doesnt matter how many times i listen to this ost, i always start crying. Really really emotional soundtrack in general, you should check out their second game Will of the Wisps too :)
I had the same feeling as you about the melody. I haven't played Ori in a long time but I immediately recognized that core melody! I think it's played in multiple tracks during the game's many climactic moments .
I my god, you really are hearing music from some of my favorite games, I really love how you are able to guess stuff of the games just from the music, your videos inspire me
Hey man, I love seeing your thoughts on moving pieces like this! If you like Ori’s OST, and you haven’t reacted to it before, I would highly suggest giving the Journey soundtrack by Austin Wintory a listen, especially Apotheosis. No video game soundtrack has ever impacted me as strongly as that one. Years later it still gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes, along with the game itself being a work of art. It’s so underappreciated I think, I’d love to see your thoughts/reaction!
Ori is such a chill, somber game about grief, and sorrow, and the music is all about that, even the tense songs, and battle music arn't realy as agressive as you'd expect. its such a beautiful game, story and music.
I can't impeach myself to imagine the actions of the characters in my mind and connect them to the chords you describe. I don't know if it's the same in your mind or if you focus in the recognition of the chords only... Or maybe both :p ! This song deserved to be analysed by you! Amazing job!
Ori has some brilliant tracks perfectly accompanying the other pieces of art that together combine into one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had with a video game. 😊
I never noticed the contradicting chord progression before! Thank you for deconstructing this piece. ^.^ If you want a track that tells a story & really shows Coker’s evolution with Ori, I recommend Mora the Spider from the sequel’s OST.
From other Ori tracks, I can recommend "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark", "The Waters Cleansed", "Riding the Wind" and "Completing the Circle" from the first game, as well as "Ku's First Flight", "Use the Light, We want to See", and "Escaping a Foul Presence" from the second
Both games from Moon Studios have gorgeous songs, specially the ones related to certain places, and the display of music during the final arc of Ori and The Will of the Wisp set's a perfect ending for this story. P.S: it would be great if you analice the theme Shriek and Ori from Ori and The Will of the Wisp.
I remember a cover you did of an Advanced Wars song from a while ago. I just saw your Hollow Knight and Ori videos recommended, two of some of my favorite games. It was cool to hear you try to decipher what part of the game it might be from just by how it sounds.

I know you're a professional in music because everything you said, which was purely based on the analysis of the music itself, was right. I played the whole game and it was an unforgetable journey. Thanks for your sharing.
I’m playing this game through for the first time and IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL! I’m smitten. I know this song plays for the end credits, but I keep listening to it because it gives me hope to complete the game. I have to admit, it was so difficult at times that I had to take some breaks, haha. That’s coming from someone who thinks From Software games are relaxing too. Ori is a tough one. Nevertheless, I still adore it and its music. The art direction of the game is so gorgeous too. This song just perfectly captures the essence of the atmosphere and story. Great reaction!
I love Ori music! All of it is so good. And Same with Ori and the Will of the wisp! I highly recommend checking out the "Shriek & Ori" song. Would be nice to know the light motif as well for it but awesome none the less!
Oh boi, now he's listening to Ori. This was the one that got me started on this journey of indie platformer/metroidvania stuff. This Ori and the sequel, then Hollow Knight, now I have been doing some Blasphemous.
Damn I love this music. This melody is the main theme (leitmotif?) of the game. It plays in diffrent ways in diffrent parts of the game like here. I always adore choir or some vocals in music. Now pardon me I think I got something in my eye.
Ngl the first chord in the sort of sneak peek section just reminded me of giorno's theme from jojo haha. All seriousness though, this is a great analysis of a beautiful track and I'm really loving your uploads!

@@austinwilson7373 Not entirely sure on that one. General narrative and music is better in the Blind Forest but the gameplay of Will of the Wisps is an improvement.
The game is about sadness. The forest is dying and almost all of those who depended on it died as well. The game tells the tragic stories of those creatures. And that all happened because of the tragic story of Kuro, the final boss. The game ends happier than when it started, which is comforting. But the tragedies still happened, and they can't be undone. The ending is more like an hopeful ending than happy. The second game though, that's sad. I just didn't cry because I had played a sadder game before (Spiritfarer), which made me more resistant to it.
The music for these games ori one and two and absolutely astounding. I wonder what you’d think of the Shriek theme from ori two, one of my favorite pieces of Gareth Coker is when he takes the dark suspenseful themes from the final boss and builds it up as it’s power, then as you start winning against the boss the main theme comes in and combines with the boss theme. The song Shriek and Ori does this amazingly well, it is in the title name after all. Give it a listen!
I remember listening to this track for the first time, having beaten the final boss in one shot during COVID. It calmed me down after “OH MY GOD! JUST DID THAT!” Maybe the most healing experience for me during that very dark period.
Burrowing, Shriek and Ori and Approching the ruins are my fav ost from Ori and the will of the wisps. You should react to bonnebottom from Silksong too it's amazing
Ori and the Blind Forest and its sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps are a true experience that is worth to feel. Every scene, every landscape, the backgrounds, the characters, the story and the music create such an emotional cocktail of feels and as a game is also so good that it is just perfect. Only the music brings me tears and goosebumps, so imagine the whole thing combined Edit: and yeah, that is the credits theme but the more active part repeats in a very action scene
Total Annihilation react next please. This was composed by at the time a relatively unknown Jeremy Soule, who you might recognise from some other smaller games he composed for later in life such as Baldurs Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic, Guild Wars, DOTA2, Skyrim etc etc. I'm certain that Total Annihilation was his first live orchestra soundtrack, and I'm also certain that a blind react video is what the people want to see.
Hey, thank you for making this video. I am currently helping a friend who's lover suicide. It is very heavy over here and it is the first day in a week where I got to take care of myself and it was planned for days that I wanted to watch this specicific video as a reward when the time was right. It was beautiful. Continue your good stuff! Sorry if my english is bad, I hope you understand me haha.
Dude, you have to do "Kwolok's Malaise" and "Shriek and Ori" from Ori and the Will of the Wisps. They'll blow your socks off. And squeeze your heart like a grape.
Even if you're not a gamer you must try and sit down to play both of the Ori games. They are very approachable and the way the music works with the amazing story is excellent.
3:52 Maybe it’s only me, but I just _cannot_ unhear the chorus from Linkin Park’s "Breaking the Habit" during this part… 3:44 Well, you’re actually half right. That part first plays during one of the escape sequences (the first, I _think)_ and is reprised for the credits.

I know you're a professional in music because everything you said, which was purely based on the analysis of the music itself, was right. I played the whole game and it was an unforgetable journey. Thanks for your sharing.
Loved this video! Ori brings back to many memories, it was a very emotional game and the music just amplifies that 1000x
I love blind forest but will of the wisps was a crazy transcendent experience thanks to the music. this composer does Halo now which is really cool
Yeah, I heard a bout Gareth Coker moving on to Halo! Very cool indeed.
Halo Infinite’s soundtrack was quite good too.
I played this game because of this song.
I heard it and said: ok I have to play that game.
Never played this game, but so far nice soundtrack. 👌
Hey MightyMyna, thanks for showing up to the stream last week and for watching this video too :D
@@DaviVasc though school has been alot lately, you are a nice break fom the stress 😁
Like a old sith lord would say : "Dewit"
>No it's credits.
No, this theme is used in action at least once - it's obstacle course when water is chasing you.
Ori will forever have the best gaming soundtracks
I love Ori music! All of it is so good. And Same with Ori and the Will of the wisp! I highly recommend checking out the "Shriek & Ori" song. Would be nice to know the light motif as well for it but awesome none the less!
Ayyy he wasnt kidding when he said “Ori music coming soon”!
:D
All seriousness though, this is a great analysis of a beautiful track and I'm really loving your uploads!
lol Thank, glad you're enjoying them!
Love ori would to see the dashing and bashing theme on this channel
Been a while since I watched your stuff.
I had to take a break from yt and videogame.
Congrats on 30k dude you definitely deserve it.
hey davi thnx for ur awesome videos .
i really enjoy games music and i think one of the games that u haven't made a video about is the witcher 3 musics
the witcher 3 has one of the most unique musics i have ever heard . if possible plz make a video about witcher 3 musics too
From what I'm getting it's a adventure game, kind of tribal in a way, very mysterious and mystical. This is just from the music and an assumption.
It’s a metroidvania, you play as a light spirit traversing a wild untamed forest and other equally well made environments
And some of the best soundtracks ever made
@@austinwilson7373 And the sequel has you playing as that same character but more grown up and capable.
@@Techhunter_Talon very true, rare case of a sequel that’s potentially better than the first
@@austinwilson7373 Not entirely sure on that one.
Davi, I love your channel! I don't always leave comments, but I'm so glad to see you succeeding and your channel growing! Keep up the great work!
Burrowing, Shriek and Ori and Approching the ruins are my fav ost from Ori and the will of the wisps. You should react to bonnebottom from Silksong too it's amazing
Dude i frikin love all you videos
Ori and the Blind Forest and its sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps are a true experience that is worth to feel. Every scene, every landscape, the backgrounds, the characters, the story and the music create such an emotional cocktail of feels and as a game is also so good that it is just perfect. Only the music brings me tears and goosebumps, so imagine the whole thing combined
Edit: and yeah, that is the credits theme but the more active part repeats in a very action scene
Ori ost just hits you right in the feels
Ladies and gentleman, he finaly did it! amazing job!
Do Frostpunk next!!
PLEASE check out Kwolok's Malaise from Ori and the Will of the Wisps, it's my favorite track off that OST.
Highly recommend Kwolok’s Malaise and Mora the Spider from Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Both are some fantastic boss music themes
Beautiful piece of music :)
holy cow how I love this game is indescribable
Gareth Coker was born to very specifically write this game's music. if they do a 3rd game they better make sure he's got the job once again.
Hey, thank you for making this video. I am currently helping a friend who's lover suicide. It is very heavy over here and it is the first day in a week where I got to take care of myself and it was planned for days that I wanted to watch this specicific video as a reward when the time was right. Watching your video made me cry. I love this song and I love how you look like a good man. A beautiful soft man, close to his emotions. Seeing you lost in music land was therapeutic for me. It was beautiful. Continue your good stuff! Sorry if my english is bad, I hope you understand me haha.
This track hits different when youre climbing the tree
Does this play during gameplay somewhere?
@@DaviVasc This exact song is played in the ending credits, but a different version is played during some epic points of the game
@@DaviVasc ruclips.net/video/oX_3KQIsiR0/видео.html , heres an example
@@only312 like the chase sequences
FFXIV has some amazing music especially the main themes songs for each of the trailers. Their are some epic boss music that I know you'd love.
ORI!!!!! I LOVE ORI!! Absolutely amazing
3:52 Maybe it’s only me, but I just _cannot_ unhear the chorus from Linkin Park’s "Breaking the Habit" during this part…
3:44 Well, you’re actually half right. That part first plays during one of the escape sequences (the first, I _think)_ and is reprised for the credits.
this game music are absurdly good.
Light of Nibel is one of my favorite tracks ever! Instant click
