Thirded...? idk if that's a word, but it is now. Shriek and Ori isn't just an amazing boss theme, it's an amazing boss theme which should pair well with this channel's musical sensibilities. I want to hear that combination.
You don't post covers that are a bit less intense like this often, and there's only one thing I can say when you do post one. Please do more covers like this because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
Let me be honest here. Ori is one of the greatest game franchises I've ever come into contact with. To say it's a masterpiece is an understatement, and a REALLY huge one at that. I played the games pretty late, but I still loved them nonetheless. Seeing you make covers for them when you've been a favourite artist of mine for a few years now really brings joy to my heart. Jonny, I don't knos if you'll read this, but I just want to say I appreciate you making this song. The next area of this comment will contain spoilers for the second game, so please be mindful. If you could, I would reccomend doing Ori, Embracing the Light from Will of the Wisps. It's such a lovely and dramatic ending theme, and... well, it just really made me feel more at the end of it. I would highly reccomend these games to anyone looking for something to play that has story and replayability. Sure, it's the same thing every time you play it, but I feel like the Ori series is just one of those games I'll never get tired of. It may have come along recently, but it already holds a special place in my heart. Thank you again, Jonny, for making such a wonderful cover for such a wonderful piece from such a wonderful game.
I heard this and Northeast Frost Street described as metal ballads in Patreon chat a couple times, and if that's the genre they fall under then I think I need more metal ballads. This year's off to a crazy strong start, can't wait to see where it goes from here!
I have always wanted to hear music from this game taken in a more metal direction, and who better to fulfill this wish? HELL YEAH. Johnny Atma, you are a certified legend.
I never finished Ori and the Blind Forest, but this arrangement is making me imagine him donning knight armor and holding his sharp and shiny blade to the sky as he prepares to slay the monsters plaguing the land. Epic as usual, Jonny. :)
It probably makes more sense to refer to Ori as genderless, considering they are the offspring of a tree. Good imagery, regardless. No need to answer, but out of curiosity, are you female? I've noticed a tendancy for people to instinctively call Ori male if they're female, and males in turn tend to call Ori female on instinct. (edit: to be clear, first paragraph's point is just to mention a thing I find interesting, not to say "Ori should be referred to with exclusively they/them" with the standard connotations of such phrasing. The same logic I used could be taken, arguably more correctly, to say that any pronoun fits, and the games themselves use... she? he? I cannot remember - _maybe both?_ - to refer to them)
@@noahjohnston9958 I see. I wouldn't be surprised if that observation was made out of a lack of sufficient data anyways - not like I did a study on it, after all.
I've personally not played either Ori game, but this remix makes me want to play it! Edit: oh my goodness are we finally getting Iris's Champion Theme?
@@stevepogue1124 oooooh, the PWT finals are even better. believe it or not, but that's actually one of my favorite Pokemon battle themes of all time XD
Ori! Such a gorgeous duo of games, with fun gameplay elements to boot. The soundtrack is a beauty as well, and as is to be expected - masterfully recreated in this cover!
I'm SO HAPPY so see Ori getting some love. The Ori series is extremely underrated in my opinion. What a fantastic piece! Didn't thought a metal arrangement would pair so well it Light of Nibel.
Man Ori has such great music. Even the credits music is amazing. Wonder if we’ll ever get more remixes from this series. Also can’t wait to see what Pokémon song is next. My guess is the PWT Finals theme is finally getting remxied. Here are my requests: 1. Shooting Star (Megaman Starforce 1-3) 2. The Collision of Thunderstorms (Azure Striker Gunvolt) 3. Bellum Phase 1-3 (The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass) 4. Hexazeon (Puzzle and Dragons) 5. Battle! Frontier Brain (Pokemon Emerald/Platinum) 6. Infinite's Theme (Sonic Forces) 7. Knock You Down!! (Deltarune Chapter 2) 8. Burning Throb/Battle Theme (Trails of Cold Steel IV) 9. Trunks Theme (Dragon Ball FighterZ) 10. Sherman Theme (Fairy Fencer F)
I literally just finished both of these games and they quickly became my favorite games of all time. My jaw actually dropped when I saw this in my subscriber feed. This is such an incredible cover and I'd love to see more of Ori in the future!
Love how you cover the credits theme after doing "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark", and you did a stunning job. Love the Ori games, they are beautiful stories with bittersweet endings, very well worth experiencing from start to finish.
I will never forget THAT moment I died and died one after another, and the song never stopped encouraging me to keep trying, you brought such a good memory back :')
Never played any of the Ori games, though I heard nothing but amazing things about them. Maybe I’ll get around to them eventually. Totally unexpected cover, though, yet like always, it turned out amazing! Love how it transitioned to acoustic for the outro!
They are excellent metroidvanias and I highly recommend them. Definitely among the most beautiful I've played and they always feel great gameplay wise.
I have both Ori games, they are amazing. Truly an emotional tour de force that will leave you a hot mess, especially when you beat Ori and the Will O' the Wisps.
imo the first one is meh, but the story is good; while the second one is a disgustingly fun metroidvania but the story is meh. i'd only recommend the second one, even if i find kinda pretentious and style over substance, just because the movements mechanics and level design are phenomenal
Wow can’t believe a theme that is instrumental hits so hard and sounds so good on metal I can already imagine Ori rocking out to this while saving Nibel!
This game was very special. A friend of mine recommended it, with him BEGGING ME TO BUY IT NON-STOP, and it was the most beautiful game I have ever played.
I needed this type of cover right now after having put my dog down today. I hate cancer so much. Fantastic work as always, I also recently played will of the wisps for the first time and I loved every moment of the sequel. This game was still amazing even if I played it with bad controller set up.
I honestly wasn't expecting anything from this. I haven't played either of the Ori games and I haven't really listened to its soundtrack. At most, I know a couple of song names, but that's it. As such, I had no expectations, and wow, this blew me away. The chanting in the background, the guitars sounding amazing as usual, the fantastic transition from the song to the ending, this was just fantastic in all regards. Now, for requests: 1. Awe of She (Guilty Gear X) 2. Balrog's Theme (Street Fighter II) 3. Airship Fortress (Mario Kart DS) 4. Barok van Zieks ~ Grim Reaper of the Old Bailey (The Great Ace Attorney Adventures) 5. Morpho Knight (Kirby Star Allies/Kirby and the Forgotten Land) 6. Smart Race (Deltarune Chapter 2) 7. The Almighty (Persona 4) 8. Pure Furies ~ Whereabouts of the Heart (Touhou 15: Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom) 9. Rage Awakened (Kingdom Hearts II) 10. Soul Ablaze (Mega Man ZX)
So it was Ori, personally I never played as I never had a reason to; though I'm a sucker for good music scores. Maybe that can be my reason? Last video was good but evidently my comment wasn't saved; thanks for being this consistent. You've been pumping out songs since 2016 when I first found this channel; if you ever need a break, feel free to take one, you of all people deserve it. Wasn’t a huge fan of Blind Forest when I played it, but I will admit it’s soundtrack was 100% GaMetal worthy. Great Job! Torn Stitch and/or As it All Crumbles Down (Underhero) plz
This sounds like it would play as Ori has an epic awakening moment, and he's all that stands between a force of evil and everything he loves, then has a fight with a final boss. Not necessarily Kuro or Shriek but like, a new story.
After all this time that I've been following you John, I never expected an Ori soundtrack being GaMetalized, and my god it was a pleasant surprise, you effing nailed it!
