Sad to see it took 2 years for a comment to be posted again. I have always loved Ray Charles, and Glen Campbell. You can see the respect Glen has for him. And Ray being humble, and with a great sense of humor. I just loved every second of this.
I can't get over the perfection of this performance. I must have listened 10 times in a row! They just don't do it like this anymore, folks. True Greatness.
If you've never heard a voice that could "sing pain", you just heard it in this performance. Especially Ray's first verse. I love his adlibs when Glen is singing; it's like encouragement.
Mr Ray was a legendary performer. His take on great country songs was personal, soulful and, at the time, ground-breaking. To see him perform was a privilege I will always remember.
Genius,The Great Glen Campbell. By watching how he makes move to harmonize with him and caring…Every time I listen to him singing so impressed so much healing .. one of the greatest singers in history .
If you all get a chance to see Glen on his farewell tour, please do so. In spite of his disease, he is still giving a vibrant performance. You won't be disappointed.
I loved both of these men, their talent was our gift.I happened across this I’m so happy that I did. will share it and keep it. It caused my heart to go back to a kinder gentler time, for all of us.
Just lovely. Glenn Campbell held his own here with Ray Charles--and, man, that's saying something. And it's good to see Brother Ray's piano work featured.
I always knew Glen was a great musician, but didn't realize until a bit later that he was a very "hip cat", his "country boy" persona belied a sharp wit and a deep knowledge of the music and where it came from. He had great people on his show and his respect for Ray Charles speaks volumes. Such a great performance! Thanks for posting this.p.s. Glen used to sneak in some modern (jazz) guitar playing, check out his live duo with Jerry Reed on "Guitar Man".
Yes, I watched that video and it is awesome, but that is classical country guitar solo. Here in South every other country guitar player play in that way. Brad Paisley also play in that way.
During that solo he play's a couple of licks that a definitely NOT country.. one is based on a whole tone scale. That's mainly what i was referring to. Glen had big ears, he could play anything he wanted to. Look for Jerry Reed's live version of Georgia on you tube, the one with Chet Atkins sitting beside him. Cool stuff.
I'm a Pianist/singer and my main problem is the songs I want to play and sing the most are the ones that bring tears to my eyes like this one....so how can I ever perform it? It really pisses me off.
Imagine, this kind of thing used to be on free TV, all three channels. Now we have 50,000 channels, big cable bills and everything's forgettable. How'd that happen?
@ NORMAN BELL /// NO truer words in your post, friend. So bittersweet viewing this. I remember seeing this as a little boy. This type of talent and T.V.viewing will NEVER return.
Two legendary performers in their prime... a lot more locked in together than most variety show duets. Nice ivories on the break, wished they could've had another go 'round for Glen to show his considerable guitar skills.
My brothers and I made a tape for our parents for Christmas one year and I attempted to sing "Cryin Time". The tape was a huge success, and I love, love, love this song. Norman"Curley" Lewis, that's my Daddy, he jus passed on May 15th, I miss him sooo much, but, he will live on through the music that he played. And many other things as well, his genorosity, his smile, his everything, I can go on and on. Love you Daddy!!
I love how they traded harmony parts in the last verse!!! Glen could sing and play anything and so could Ray. Was fortunate to see them both. I even got to see Glen in a Cabaret show with legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb. Both genius in their own way, for SURE!!!
George Jones and Ray Charles, were the best at singing pain songs and make you feel like they truly lived what they were singing, and usually they both had been through similar situations, and Glen done an awesome job, i really liked him and i wish they would show the reruns of Glen Campbell's show.
Wow, their voices blend like Angels. What a shame they never cut an LP together. I've loved Ray's version since I heard it in 1965, but actually this duet I find better!!! Wonder if either one ever allowed it to be included on an LP? I have to confess though, I just listened to the author's original version , I had never heard it before!! God Bless you BUCK for writing it!!! DANG you should have had a hit with it back in 1964!!???
Was it that long ago ?? Wow. So many greats gone. It's God's way.

"Crying Time" (originally by Buck Owens) Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin' Oooh That it won't be long before it's cryin' time Now they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder (fonder) And that tears are only rain to make love grow Well my love for you could never grow no stronger (stronger) If I lived to be a hundred years old Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'. Yeah now That it won't be long before it's cryin' time Now you say you've found someone that you love better (better) That's the way it's happened every time before And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow ('morrow) Cryin' time will start when you walk out the door Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'. Alright now That it won't be long before it's cryin' time (That it won't be long before it's cryin' time)
This is one of my dad's favorite songs but for some reason it's not on everything. We only have one cd w/ it and I searched long and hard for it....it's a heart wrenching song. I LOVE it!!
No kidding, I've been looking for a Charles greatest Hits compilation, and this one is always missing. Or if it's on an LP or CD, the other's are missing;-)
Charles brought out the best in Glen's voice- I bet he did that to a lot of people. You can't exactly phone it in when you have to try to keep up with a voice like Ray Charles'.
Where blue eyed soul meets the great one . This is forever . God bless both souls.
You won’t see a perfect live performance like this today. How I miss the great singers musicians, and songs.
u wanna bet
Don't even know where to begin. That's the sound of AMERICAN greatness and talent right there!
I saw it when it first appeared on television. It was terrific then and is still.
Would that be in the late 60's?
Sad to see it took 2 years for a comment to be posted again. I have always loved Ray Charles, and Glen Campbell. You can see the respect Glen has for him. And Ray being humble, and with a great sense of humor. I just loved every second of this.
RIP to both Ray and Glen.
They are alive in the other world thank goodness.
Ray was the man.One of the best artist to ever come out of America.
And you don't mention Glen.
I can't get over the perfection of this performance. I must have listened 10 times in a row! They just don't do it like this anymore, folks. True Greatness.
If you notice, Glen holds back his singing to give Ray Charles the main focus-- that is pretty classy-- you wouldn't see that today.
probably a wise move tho
in my humble opinion, these are two of the best, most talented, and versatile entertainers. Period. And I have been fortunate to see and them both!
You and me both!:-)..I even got to see Glen when he performed with Jimmy Webb about 10 years before he passed.
If you've never heard a voice that could "sing pain", you just heard it in this performance. Especially Ray's first verse. I love his adlibs when Glen is singing; it's like encouragement.
This is what becomes of a top session musician. You can play anything in any style at any time. When you are Glenn Campbell, you can do it superbly.
On The Beach Boys "Fun, Fun, Fun," the opening guitar riff is by Glen Campbell.
Bein' good looking don't hurt either I guess.
Mr Ray was a legendary performer. His take on great country songs was personal, soulful and, at the time, ground-breaking. To see him perform was a privilege I will always remember.
Glenn's vocal solo is beautiful -- the great one is always that
Simply one of the finest performances I've ever witnessed in popular music...
Both emotionally.and melodically. The frequency of both. Blend together. Perfect
Genius,The Great Glen Campbell. By watching how he makes move to harmonize with him and caring…Every time I listen to him singing so impressed so much healing .. one of the greatest singers in history .
When Ray sings the first verse you can't help but be mesmerized. the scope of his talent is truly mind-boggling.
Two beautiful voices coming together as one.
If you all get a chance to see Glen on his farewell tour, please do so. In spite of his disease, he is still giving a vibrant performance. You won't be disappointed.
Beautifully done by two of my favorite male singers!!!! And Buck Owens , he wrote it.
A simply fantastic duet with two of the greatest entertainers of all time!!!! LOVED IT!!!!!!
Ray Charles died in 2004 and Glen Campbell died in 2017 so Glen was well before his dementia took him.
Ray Charles and Glen Campbell, fantastic musicians. Beautiful.
So sad but sung beautifully. Ray Charles and Glenn Cambell are two of my favorite singers.
Two of the Greastest Pioneers of music to ever play on this earth. Rip to Glenn and Ray! You 2 will never be forgotten.
Loved them both and miss hearing and witnessing their talent. And here they are together!
Just terrific, great blend of voices and terrific musicianship from both.
Excellent song with two great singers. Lost love inspires so many great songs.
Two legends here...fantastic artists /musicians! And thank you Buck Owens for writing and performing this classic yourself!
I always loved the Ray Charles treatment of Country and Western music.
Two departed legends.
Now, this duet is together again in heaven...RIP Mr Campbell
Beautiful just utterly beautiful. Unquestionably good and hearty charisma stage presence
this song suites Glen very well!
Two Musical Giants, Beautiful!!! I wish they made an album. Their voices blend perfectly.
TOTALLY AGREE!!!
Glen just can fit with any singer
Two great artists singing together. I love it. 🎶❤️ Thanks for sharing. 😊
Willie nelson said once singing with a great singer makes you step up your game, here is a great example Ray brings out the soul in Glen's voice
two of the greatest right there-GC is sooo underated-top top man
Two Legions! They're both are dearly missed!
I always knew Glen was a great musician, but didn't realize until a bit later that he was a very "hip cat", his "country boy" persona belied a sharp wit and a deep knowledge of the music and where it came from. Look, No Miming. actually singing and playing their instruments, masterfully.
Wow. Brings tears to my eyes.
***** me too
I'm a Pianist/singer and my main problem is the songs I want to play and sing the most are the ones that bring tears to my eyes like this one....so how can I ever perform it? It really pisses me off.

+Norman Ball I agree with you, and the answer is GREED. Also, the amount of commercial time has become outrageous.
It's all about the money Norman.
yeah all the music is crap- God help us
@ NORMAN BELL /// NO truer words in your post, friend. So bittersweet viewing this. I remember seeing this as a little boy. This type of talent and T.V.viewing will NEVER return.
Norman you have an excellent point.
Glens two part harmony is great with Rays voice.
still love to hear Ray sing and Glen
What a blend...beautiful!! Thank you for this!
Best version on RUclips in my opinion.
Two AWESOME guys from way back...

Two gifted talents who always gave their very best.
Two legends
Beautiful Duet! Two of the Very Best!
Absolutely wonderful classic memories ⭐️⭐️❤️ I’m now 59 and remember when ✊
Two legendary performers in their prime... a lot more locked in together than most variety show duets. Nice ivories on the break, wished they could've had another go 'round for Glen to show his considerable guitar skills.
Have always loved Ray's little 'blues' licks he spices into the music;-)
I saw Ray Charles seven times in concert and Glen Campbell once.
2 Genius. Thanks
Stuff like this came on tv every week when I was a kid, we were lucky.....
A terrific couple of voices performing an evergreen country song. Song wrote by another giant of the country music, Buck Owens.
I never knew Glen & Ray had a duet. Beautiful
They're both great in their own ways. A great song.
I love them both! I know that they both are in heaven!
Glen played and knew everyone in the music and entertainment business! Wow he had a heck of a life !
studio musician!
I love how they traded harmony parts in the last verse!!! Glen could sing and play anything and so could Ray. Was fortunate to see them both. I even got to see Glen in a Cabaret show with legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb. Both genius in their own way, for SURE!!!
The combination of two legends
They are from different genres
Great combination
George Jones and Ray Charles, were the best at singing pain songs and make you feel like they truly lived what they were singing, and usually they both had been through similar situations, and Glen done an awesome job, i really liked him and i wish they would show the reruns of Glen Campbell's show.
Glen nailed it, Ray was one of the greatest badasses ever.
But so did Ray on the final verse, they switched harmony parts loved it!!!
When legends meet :)
Priceless!
Wow, their voices blend like Angels. What a shame they never cut an LP together. I've loved Ray's version since I heard it in 1965, but actually this duet I find better!!! Beautiful.. absolutely stunning.

Absolutely incredible.

glen, a superb singer/player had to up his vocals game a little to hang with ray. and he killed it! wish he'd gotten a little guitar solo though.
