George Strait is the real deal, in music and in life. Decades ago when I was young I worked on the grounds at the country club where he lived. He'd come out with a big coffee and watch and wave if I was working around his house, he'd stop to say hello to people like a regular person. Nothing fake like some egotist working the room, just a genuine decent person who'd say, "Sure is hot out, do you have some water?" to the peons like me back then. For all his fame and money, just a plain talking man in regular clothes with an ordinary truck taking a few seconds to be kind when he didn't have to. Treated security the same way he treated millionaires golfing. A good man.
My dad, George, Alan, and Toby were my childhood. Now my dad and Toby are newly gone, and I'm hanging onto George and Alan with all the strength my inner child has. Love 80s/90s country like nothing else.

In addition to the equally wonderful melody, the sound of Gene's violin is simply magnificent. My condolences to the entire team of the George Strait collective and such an irreparable loss.
