I love this Eddie guy and how he's come and taken you under his wing. I love seeing older men come to be mentors to young men. It's a beautiful thing.
Does Eddie know he has a horde of admiring people here on your channel?? 😂
I try to explain to him his fan club but I’m not quite sure he fully grasps.
God bless Eddie! The man! The mentor! ❤❤❤🎉
Everyone needs an Eddie!!!
😊 Are you kidding me? 😊 This is a huge project for someone who is experienced! You're learning all of this as you go, you're busy being a first time dad and supporting your wife as a new mom, and making videos as you go along? Yeah give yourself grace. Oh, and you just hosted Blimey Con I believe? As a mom, wife to a professional renovator, living in a permanent state of renovations myself, I admire what you're doing here! Love this series! Keep going!
I was joyfully cheering you on when you conquered mudding the ceiling so easily, when just a couple weeks ago you had no idea what you were doing! You’ve got a gem of a human for a neighbor! And an admirable resolve. Great work Jordan!
The true MVP of this series is Eddie, coming over and helping/teaching you all this new stuff! And giving good advice as well. It's nice that you felt at peace even though it didn't get done the day you wanted it to. I think life and learning prevented the deadline but I can't blame either for you not making it. And you still have Sara's respect!! I do kinda hope you get it done by the 14th so you can shock her though.
I think respect for you goes up when you take time to care for your family ESPECIALLY when you have a deadline looming. you didn’t make excuses and push the care off. Mad respect, Taylor.
I HOPE YOU KNOW sir how much catharsis these videos give me, I literally consistently look forward to Friday every week specifically because I'm waiting for Jordan's new basement renovation vid to drop. This is my first time commenting on this series (ironic) but I've very much been keeping up with each new update, and personally I think you're doing incredible work as someone who's currently writing this comment at 12:00 at night instead of working on a very necessary assignment for tomorrow's class. But seriously, this whole journey is so admirable and has been incredibly personable to watch, and I think I can speak for us all when I say we're proud of you and are so appreciative that we get to be here for AND with you through it. Also Eddie, if you're out there, I love you.
I do a lot of home remodeling projects. After estimating the time to do something, I then double it, which usually becomes reality. That way I don't feel frustrated I didn't do it fast enough
I have to triple estimated project times, and that’s usually close to realistic.
Dear Jordan, speaking on behalf of what is probably most of us, "Deadlines be hanged!" We're invested in the journey, not the speed. So, stopping to smell the roses is fine. We'd rather see you set at a happy, healthy pace, while enjoying the process of growing your skillset, and be brought along for the ride, than getting there faster with you stressed and us not "there" for it. Yes, even if it's just mudding. 16:13
That moment when you flip the switch is a game-changer, isn't it? Light makes all the difference.
This has been an awesome series with a very real ending! 😂
That said, you have to show us the end result! I have been here from the start and have to see it finished. I'm invested, Jordan!
Please keep us along for the journey. I wouldn't mind a whole video about mudding and a ten second tidy. You've accomplished a great feat! Your videos have helped me get motivated.
It looks so good! Your drive for learning new skills & improving on them has always been amazing. And what’s even more commendable imo is how you value being an involved dad/husband even in the middle of a big project. I know Sara appreciates and respects you for the person you are, beyond the skills & accomplishments! Anyway. Im excited to see the rest of the project unfold - you got this! And happy birthday!
I'm learning from your videos, so the delays work for me. 😂We're invested. It's going to happen, no matter how long it takes. You got this. 💪
My husband built a small room in our basement and the drywall mudding took the LONGEST time and that was his least favorite part overall, especially around the ducts and corners. So I applaud you, Jordan, in honor of all the work my own husband has done to improve our house. I was in Sara’s shoes as the encouraging wife who would come down every day and bring La Croixs to my husband. Well done and keep up the great work! It looks amazing already!!!
I wish I had an Eddie in my life.
My husband has been working on our house for years. The last few days he's been working on our kitchen drywall. My 8 yr old saw your video today and said, "We need Eddie to come do our drywall!"
😂
My husband does a fine job but he's busy and some things simply aren't a priority. ❤
In 2021 we had a house fire. Thankfully, it was just at the power box and we didn’t lose the house. However, since it was electrical the whole house had to be stripped to the studs and rewired. We ended up having contractor complications and he had to bail on completing the house. So my husband and I, with the help of some friends and family, had to finish the house ourselves. Our electrician friend did the electrical, but we had to do some of the drywall, all of the floors, the trim, and had to live there while it all happened. We installed flooring in the bedrooms right after electrical got installed and had to move in due to insurance running out of $ for hotel. We got the whole house (1,100 sq ft) floored in a week. With 4 kids running around! 😆 Then we put the “new” old 3 bedroom house on 2 acres up for sale and bought a 7 bedroom house on 12.5 acres. Best thing to ever happen because of a house fire. 😁
You got this, Jordan! You’re a great learner. We believe in you!! 👍💪
You’re killing it! Keep going, you’ll be so glad you did. If you stop now you’ll lose momentum and the “want to” just keep going!
Happy Birthday Jordan!!! You are doing a great job with the basement, I have so much respect for you for doing this mostly single handed!!!
Watching Eddie help you is good for my soul. Humans are irreplaceable.
😂😂 Jordan and Sara at the end is exactly my husband and I. He gives a very unrealistic time frame for a project, and my timeframe is way to high, luckily things generally fall into the middle somewhere, but we're just about to start painting our house, so we'll see who's closer this time!!
Everyone needs an Eddy in their lives. Also, you are doing great and learning so many valuable skills that most people never get to learn! Carry on!
You didn’t finish by the deadline, but thats okay! You learned a lot and your wife doesn’t hate! And I’d say those are way more important than finishing by the deadline.
Hey Jordan - a little encouragement for you. Just keep loving your wife as the Bible instructs you to. That is the gift you give her every day. The respect she gives to you as the Bible instructs is her gift to you every day. Don’t get hung up on the worldly view that respect is earned or lost.
You haven't lost your wife's respect, dude. 😂 You haven't lost our respect either! (Also, I hope your family is safe after Helene, I don't know if any of y'all live in the affected areas or not.)
What a blessing Eddie is! You’re doing a great job, Jordan. Keep plugging away and finish well!
It's genuinely looking so great. I've never watched a house renovation video like this before, but I do a lot of crafting type activities and I'm getting the same kind of satisfaction from each consecutive video as I do when I progress in a creative project.
Good job Jordan for getting this far keep it up! Even though you didn't make your deadline you have came a long way and are learning some really good skills. And also, Happy Birthday! 😁
This is what I have learned about painting new drywall. The primer is key because you get all the tiny fibers of the drywall coated and laying down nicely. So it must be rolled with a roller to get them all laid down. But you can use a paint sprayer to paint after that if you want and it will look good as long as you rolled the drywall with the primer first.
This is wondeful, Jordan! Look how far you've come and you're learning so many skills on top of being a new parent. Kudos to you & Eddie.
I think you're doing a fantastic job! I'm enjoying watching the transformation in your basement 😊
Also, happy birthday 🎉
Every one of these videos I watch, I am so impressed! I had no idea finishing a basement had so many steps and the fact that you’re learning to do it all your self is both crazy and awesome! You motivate me to complete projects of my own!
Next vid: I have -6 days to get this done or my wife will eat me!
😂😂
This was a huge job! You got so far and it's coming along really well!
Probably lesson learned about timelines and doing unfamiliar jobs. That's cool that Sara is so gracious about it :) Looking forward to seeing it all finished ! Remember, I like watching before and AFTERS soooo keep going, you can do it! :)
See, the world didn't stop Jordan. As long as you are trying, that's all that matters. My Dad always made empty promises about renovations that he never did. So feel good that you actually attempted to do it. I still respect you for the attempt.
I will watch a video of you mudding! Post one next Friday, no matter how much you've got done! You can do it Jordan! You're so close!!!
Wow! It's looking great! I can't imagine having to work around all those beams 😵💫😅
Happy Birthday to us! I look forward to the finished room and I’m totally here for that. You have done an amazing job. Keep it up!
Great work dude! I am proud of you for not giving up on your deadline. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
I’m glad you have a healthy outlook on your deadline miss. You tried your hardest and you are going to finish it (maybe by the 14th) before you start another project, since you brought us all in to hold you accountable! That was smart. You’re so close! And you’re there for your family, which is more important than proving something to yourself or to anyone.
Of COURSE Eddie knows how to mud drywall. Is there anything that man can’t do?! 😂
Jordan once the basement is done. I would love a video about the entirety of the list. your timeline for finishing those projects and what have you learned from your one year challenge and the list?
Find a girl that looks at you the way Sara looks at Jordan 15:20
We all need an awesome neighbor like Eddie! Good work, Jordan!
It's looking great Jordan!! I felt that moment when you were at peace with it, that feeling when you know you know how to move forwards. It's a gooood feeling! 🎉
Also, though I hear it said all the time, it looks wrong when 'you know you know' is written down! 😂
idk why but this is my favorite video in, like, a long time. Good job
Seriously, means a lot.
It is looking SO good, Jordan!!! Bravo!! Keep going, dude. You've got this!! 😊
Yes please keep updating us on the progress!!! I love flipping spaces and I've already learned so much from these videos
I'll keep updating!
My parents had me finish my own room in the basement and I will say it’s the Sanding of the wall mud that is the most soul sucking so be prepared for that
It's a sad thing, but I have to second your statement. Regardless I'm cheering Jordan on, he can do this!
Love watching you learn how to do all these things. You are creating a beautiful home.
You’re doing great Jordan!! You’ve made so much progress! Keep going!
Love you guys! If you want to make a promise make it more like I will work on this really hard till it is done. I am hoping to be done by _______. It is important to keep your word. Make it keepable!
It's a busy but blessed life that you have. The basement is looking beautiful every time you work on it
Great job! You made a ton of progress. Be proud of yourself 😊
It looks fantastic, Jordan! Keep up the great work! You got this!
Thank you!
You can do it!
Keep going!!! Doing great!
Simply make a time machine, you'll be done in no time.
But in all honesty you should be proud. Can't wait to see it done.
Looking good! Keep going!
Honestly well done, real proud of you
Very proud of your hard work Jordan. You are a wonderful husband and Father!
That means a lot. Thank you.
Nice work! It’s looking really good and it’s super cool you’re learning the skills and doing it mostly on your own!
So proud of you. You're doing great. Also, so grateful for Eddie. :)
It’s looking so good! For not being a pro at this you have gone so far! Keep it up 🎉
It looks fantastic Jordan! I'm so glad that you are pursuing this project and learning new skills! Great job! It inspires me to learn this stuff so I can do it one day.
Ayy that ceiling is looking really nice!
Keep going! It’s so cool to see how much you have learned through this process.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I think Sara will be right about the flooring. lol. But the basement is looking good and can’t wait to see it finished!
Mudding always takes forever!!! Plus you have so many edges in that aria. Its coming along nicely. Keep it up!!
I am guessing you should be done in the second week of November. Mainly due to how much trim and unique cuts for the floor.
Good job. 👍 I did my remodeling when I bought my house and it took much longer than I thought. So you fit right in. And I did it myself that was the hardest. Because if I had someone help I felt like I don't have to do that much work. Because I know how much is left, so if no one is helping that's all my work to do. But if I got help then "it's not all that work". Funny mental games I played to keep me motivated. Keep it up.
I'm still here, Jordan! You can do it! We believe in you!
Good Job Jordan
Can't wait to follow you finish thos project
That moment when you flip the switch is a game-changer, isn't it? Light makes all the difference.
Well, it is looking closer and closer every time!! That's a good thing. I don't think that it will be done in two weeks either. . .maybe by the middle of November.
Floor takes 2 days tops, sideboarding might take a little longer. But floors go fast if you know the right way of doing it. You probably figure it out real quick.
It’s really coming together! I can’t imagine working on something for so many hours straight, amazing efforts Jordan. 👏🏼
I didn't finish my cardigan either. I am one front panel in about a quarter of the back panel complete. But, it's impressive that you completed all that you did while having a newborn. I just had myself to take care of. 😅
You can do it!
Great job Jordan!
Eddie is the goat. Talk about a heart like Christ. 👀
You got this!!!
Awesome job, Jordan! I've loved watching your progress and am feeling super motivated to begin work on my basement.
Sara is right, but what matters is you are for sure going to get it done 🙂
We aren’t going to abandon you now! EVERY WIFE has been through this. Husbands just see future time through a different lens. 🤣
You got this bro!
Talking about you can’t learn this from me RUclips video. Reminded me of Jordan’s video talking about the power of RUclips and how he learned how to skateboard on RUclips.
Yess!! The big reveal! Can’t wait to see it😍
I’ll still be here for the next videos!!! My guess is done in 4 weeks if you keep the same pace as you have been.
You and Sara are thinking about the same timeline then
13;51 😂😂😂 LOL
You're doing great 🎉
Mudding is fun! POST!!!
Can’t wait to see who wins the bet! My bet is October 21
Our floors and baseboards took an experienced friend 2 weeks because our walls weren't square.
Question Jordan, would you ever review self help books on your channel? Or apply different methods or techniques to get Project down around your house? Just curious… sorry for bad grammar.
No need to apologize. That’s actually a really interesting idea. Read a self help book and apply what it said as an experiment onto a project I’m doing.
FYI, your lights must have adjustable color temperature, and a couple of them are a different color than the others. I had the same thing when I put mine in and it took me a while to notice, but on camera I can see it much easier, for instance at 8:26 or 10:17
Also I wish I lived near you, I totally would have come help with the drywall and mudding. I've done a ton of it and actually really enjoy it. Still don't like doing ceilings though ;)
Yeah I forgot to set a few of them to the right color when I put them in. I have to take them back down anyway to paint, so I’ll just adjust them then.
2 more weeks!
Hey Jordan! The basement looks so good! Do you have any good neighbors you could lend my family?
15:15 are the lights different colour temperatures or is that just the camera doing that?
I have them on different temperatures on accident. I’ll fix it.
We put lights like that in the bedroom addition that was built this spring before our 5th baby.
