Thanks for the effort on this video. The only criticism i would have about Tyr is him (or the game) not explaining how Odin captured this slick son of a UNIT like that. Did Thor and Odin both team up on him? Or maybe some devious job from Odin? Would've been cool to have this chat with him.
First off, congratulations on the OHKO run glad to have you here. And fact, they could’ve had that as a dialogue line while you’re progressing. But I can a million percent believe that Odin snuck him, or maybe that purple freeze spell that he used on Kratos and Atreus. But ain’t no way his old ass won that 1v1.
The fact that Týr wasn’t broken like many of Odin’s other victims speaks either volumes of Týr’s strength or Odin’s failure to prove he was better. Perhaps both.

I was worried, GOW is about many things, but let's be real, killing gods and beasts are the selling points of the franchise, everytime something new about other lands comes into the surface, we all get excited as we can get with the possibilities of meeting new gods and monsters, to fight them... but in GOW ragnarok Kratos being so sad and avoiding conflict at all costs made me worried about the future, like, what would be a good reason to make him fight again? how would SM justify another pantheon being wiped out by Kratos since he is so terrified of killing gods now? and by finding this balance within himself I think it's fair to say that if it's for the right reason, he might fight again, I'm ready for the new god of war, not the one who is going to fight out of rage, not the one will refuse to fight out of regret, but the one who will do what he can for the good of the people, let the hero saga begins... let's do some good, let's meet some people, and let's kill some gods with no burden on our backs...
This. THIS is EXACTLY what I mean. Him simply just going to another pantheon and fucking things up would’ve been redundant story wise without a different purpose. The classics were the villain arc, the modern were the middle ground, and the future shall be the hero arc. The Anticipation had been restored for me
@@TheNature904 I also think norse gods were the perfect set up for this as they aren't as inrinsinctly linked to the world as the Greek pantheon was so like it allows more personal conflicts and that when ome of the gods do die not everything is messed up beyond repair
@@TheNature904 I don't see the Greek saga as a villain arc at all. Zeus grew paranoid and mad which drove him to start killing people and he had to be taken down. That's not including how he also tormented Kratos' bloodline. Everyone who got in the way wasn't willing to exactly listen either. Kratos even gave Hercules and Hephaestus chances to live and they attacked him. Once Zeus was dead Kratos stopped his rampage and attempted to kill himself. The Greek saga is surprisingly polarizing I guess. It always seemed kind of apparent Kratos would be dragged into the next conflict. The thing that's a little strange about Ragnorok is technically Atreus, Freya, and Mimir instigated Kratos killing Odin for 2 whole games and I can't help but feel like there could be an extremely dark set up pending between The God of War and God of Mischief 🤔 either way, Loki plays a role in why Kratos returns in the next saga.
I honestly doubt we'll get another Kratos game. I agree, a big question was, what does Kratos do after Ragnarok? But i got a whole different vibe off the ending than you for Valhalla. Like his the God of War helping the lands rebuild. Its a good stopping point for his story, having come full circle to the first game. Plus we already have a plot set up for Atreus to take over since he is literally going to different lands to find the giants that are hiding.
Yeah but how many GoW fans want to play a game only with Atreus and without Kratos? God of War without Kratos is like Super Mario without Mario This would be a bad idea from business perspective. And since gaming is business, they will do what sells better: A game with Kratos The writers will find a reason for Kratos to go on
@@DannyGaendon So it's better to keep contriving reasons to make him kill? Like be honest, what would the next GoW game be if we are Kratos? He's in a land that is in peace times, helping to try and put everything back together and being a good leader to the people. You would rather we take all that away and make him go kill God's again? Dude we have like 8 or 9 games with Kratos, with Valhalla his story has gone full circle going back to the first GoW. It's time to let Kratos go and accept a new protagonist before they pull a Disney and ruin him cause they don't want to leave the comfort zone.

I love the last few lines in the very ending when Kratos talks to his younger self. I don't remember them perfectly but it's basically: "You're cruel and selfish, but you're more than that, you've always been more than what others saw" Fits both to his character and as a reflection of the original series as a whole, sure it was violent, all about the gameplay and brutality with less focus on story, despite that, the story and its themes always been there, it always had meaning, I hear often how people say "the norse games matured the franchise", and while I understand what they are trying to say, Kratos story in greece has always been, to me at least, one of a very well written tragedy, the greek and norse games will forever complete what each other had to say. One shows a path of revenge leading to destruction and loneliness, ending with a self sacrifice, and the other is a path of redemption and rebuilding, with the payoff of the hope that came with said sacrifice. Like some others pointed out, this DLC doesn't change the greek games, it only explores them more in depth, shows what's already been there on more perspectives.
Absolutely. Always hate that some the developers for the Norse sage we're talking mad shit about the old gow games. Goes to show that those guy didn't understood them. They we're always deep with great gameplay. Glad this dlc reflected on the deeper messages and story classic gow was telling.
I see no lies here. It’s time to get rid of that false narrative once and for all. People don’t realize the New games only hit so hard BECAUSE of the old games BECAUSE of that initial build up. The God of War series as a whole is one of the best video game stories ever made.
Thank you, great video, i liked your thoughts and memes. Týr was definitely a big surprise in all of this. This little DLC has too much big surprises actually 😅
Tyr really did save the whole god of war series. At first, people saw him as a dissapointment. Always acting like a pacifist, revealing that he was odin all along and when the real him was found locked up, he had nothing to do other than meditate and waving his arms around since he missed the whole ragnarok thing. Alot of people would have preferred to see the real him participate in ragnarok. Some people may still do. But now? Now in valhalla he gets to show what he can do. He shows that he is everything the stories about him as the god of war. Not just as a fighter but also as a guide. He showed kratos a path for him. He saved the god of war series by living up to his reputation. And for that, i'd like to honor him by showing everyone here this song:ruclips.net/video/s8-kflR8WPc/видео.htmlsi=kmQeQkwJzWQXTF-P
We see tyr used different weapons in Dlc like Egyptian sword or katana, hopefully we see tyr adventure in those lands cause kratos have work in 9 realms but tyr is free, that can be fun
The other thing I think for the future of the God of War games is combat. I think what we got in Valhalla. I think they should combine the aspects of the old God of War games with the open world elements of the Norse games. We can have the straight up beat up looting to get upgrades for weapons and health. Also having the freedom to explore and find different places we can find loot and other places to explore while also there should bring back one of those finding arena challenges we had a neat Greek saga of the games.
As someone who has over one hundred hours of gow 2018, has it platinum, bought and read its novel, and hell even has it as my profile, gow Ragnarok was probably the most disappointing game I have ever played in my life and I genuinely did not want to touch any of the newer gow games for a long time but goddamn did this dlc revive my love for the franchise. It improved on everything that I had problems with Ragnarok like its combat, story, lore and TYR. This is the God of War Tyr (no wonder why Odin was so scared of him) and I am so glad we got to see the real him this time
Kratos was a monster. Dude decided that today was leg day, and wasn't gonna be doing any lifting. So when it came time to go under a gate, he decided to rescue a princess, just so he could use her body to gum up the gate mechanism and hold it open for him. He takes giving his muscles 24 hours of recovery very seriously.
This DLC not only for future gow player but old gow player as well. It ties all together, Kratos is now Wise man know when and when not to get hands dirty.
I will always say this. I never downplayed Tyr ever. The fact that Odin used Tyr to decieve us just shows the amount of respect all forms of life have for him. Odin locked Tyr up to prevent his demise but he wasn't expecting Kratos who filled Tyrs shoes as War. Tyr travelled everywhere and knows more and I can even say is way stronger then Kratos. He is just fighting to teach not to kill.
But that wasn't even the real Tyr throughout the main game. It was Odin disguising as Tyr. You don't meet the real Tyr through the main story till will wayy later in some snowy prison area if i remember correctly.
I havent been the biggest fan of the new series I admit, most of the time it feels like a game made by people who wanted to make a movie. However I do kind of appreciate what they tried to do here with the DLC having Kratos come to terms with what he did in Greece That said I think the best characterization of Kratos comes from the original series, more accurately the 2 PSP games and Ascension as those are the closest we come to seeing Kratos the human before Kratos the god. And how the attempts of the gods to make Kratos less human to better fit his role ended up turning him into the monster that brought about the destruction of the Greek pantheon
Damn you’re right. I believe Odin has the superior drip, Zeus was pretty typical and was carried by his imposing physique But I think Zeus was the worst father (even tho Odin is not far) considering Zeus has wayyy more kids and don’t even interact with them. Odin be bullying Thor but at least that man is present I guess 🤣.
I'm pretty sure that the first thing Kratos would have to deal with as the new god of war Is the bullshit the elves are always getting into with eachother. Like the 2018 game explicitly mentions that at this point, they just go to war because it's what they've always known. The only reason they cooperated in ragnarok Is because "get along or fucking die" isn't really a choice.
Kratos has Inhuman level's of strength. We see him regularly lift huge pillars so he can crawl under them. But a gate, a common gate in a palace... Kratos was like, "Nah, I'm gonna take this woman I just rescued from God's knows what, and stuff her body into the gear mechanism to hold the gate open for me. I ain't got time for any lifting, today is leg day." Kratos was a monster. He deserved bad things to happen to him. I am happy he's trying to atone though.

Loki’s search for the remaining Giants has a higher chance of putting him at odds with other pantheons, while Kratos is staying to help the realms rebuild. I think we will see Sigrun make a cameo in a future title given the events of Valhalla, Kratos without a doubt will return to Greece and that is where we will possibly get the father-and-son reunion
I think that the green rift Odin was obsessed with will be the catalyst for future games. Atreus will come across more leads on it in his search for the giants (probably in his own spinoff game) and find out they are more important than he realized and ask Kratos for help in solving it all.

Tyr was cooking up the perfect therapy session and heard you talking shit so he had to clear his name with those boss fights
Tyr came through in this dlc
Hell yeah, it was everything we needed
Tyr - Kratos therapist with Keanu Reeves vibes.
Tyr is quite literally the Avatar of Norse Mythology 😂
Týr, god of therapy
The god of Týrapy
8:48 maybe they could make it so when you have the Huldra Project #9 relic with Helios' head it plays an alt animation using the blindness move from GoW 3. It would be pretty nice
I hope I am not the only one that believes that tyr and freya are preparing him for something, we just do not know what.
They need a new god of war and believe he's the best choice, that's what him going to Valhalla was all about
They're preparing him to take on his rightful role, the god of war, nothing more nothing less, everything's explained in game . You're just reading too much into it😂
@@finger3306tyr is the God of war. the Norse don't need kratos.
@@LuckyAJC bruh did you play the dlc😂tyr has no interest in holding the title as he's been gone for so long that he's more he's viewed as more myth and legend than actually existing, he says that the realms need someone new to take the role and considering kratos won ragnarok it makes sense he'd take the spot
You didn't play the dlc@@LuckyAJC
This whole thing is basically the Viking verion of "Kratos meets Jesus"
I wasn’t expecting A god of war MADTERPIECE to trick me into a 6 hour therapy session
Imagine the Atreus sections in future games replaced with Tyr sections
“all the, ATREUS” dawg i felt this to my soul at a certain point I was just like, BOY, DO NOT LIE TO ME AGAIN BOY.
The amount of character that this dlc had, the expanded depth of the characters, I love it. The devs gave more respect to the past games than the reviewers. Thank you santa monica for giving us such a wonderful gift 🙏
This dlc acts like the bloody palace in devil may cry. Aka an injection of fun a challenge whenever I want
One more thing. The reason the geneva convention / rules of war exist is so that, when there IS war, there can still be some chance of peace in the end so that neither side completely destroys the other with no remorse. Maybe kratos needs to be that.
Also because a lot of the methods used during WW2 were absolutely out of pocket. For example, you can thank the Canadians for several of them being very specific, like using grenades to check for life in a building.
@@BrokensoulRider goddamn I didn't even know that part. I only knew the surface level stuff like the germans' response to shotgun and flamethrowers. Thanks for the info
You're welcome. :) You can look up a lot of WW2 stuff around Canadians. They're fucking psychos. We love our little crazy hocky-loving hat.@@ImDaRealBoi
I acually felt that this was like a conclussion for Kratos's development, like this is a comfortable resting point for his story
I could actually see that as well
I honestly doubt we'll get another Kratos game.
God of War without Kratos is like Super Mario without Mario
This would be a bad idea from business perspective. And since gaming is business, they will do what sells better: A game with Kratos
The writers will find a reason for Kratos to go on
@@DannyGaendon So it's better to keep contriving reasons to make him kill? Like be honest, what would the next GoW game be if we are Kratos? He's in a land that is in peace times, helping to try and put everything back together and being a good leader to the people.
You would rather we take all that away and make him go kill God's again? Dude we have like 8 or 9 games with Kratos, with Valhalla his story has gone full circle going back to the first GoW. It's time to let Kratos go and accept a new protagonist before they pull a Disney and ruin him cause they don't want to leave the comfort zone.
I love so much the fact that the 4 weapons Tyr uses are literal representation of the mural we saw in GoW 2018 in helheim in Odin’s office back when we were searching for the unity stone. We saw the Greek pantheon and we know of it already we saw the Japanese the Egyptian and lastly the Celtic (you can even notice how it’s design is very similar to kotal khan’s blade from mortal kombat) I love these details so much
The God of War series never needed saving until Trashnarock's release.
Also mimir says it best, a god of war is needed so rules of conflict can be set.
Yup, my boy back with a banger. Good to see you Nature Boy!
I love the last few lines in the very ending when Kratos talks to his younger self. I don't remember them perfectly but it's basically:
"You're cruel and selfish, but you're more than that, you've always been more than what others saw"
Fits both to his character and as a reflection of the original series as a whole, sure it was violent, all about the gameplay and brutality with less focus on story, despite that, the story and its themes always been there, it always had meaning, I hear often how people say "the norse games matured the franchise", and while I understand what they are trying to say, Kratos story in greece has always been, to me at least, one of a very well written tragedy, the greek and norse games will forever complete what each other had to say.
“A fraud, then turned into a yoga 🧘🏿♂️ instructor” 🤣 😂😂😂
the story from tyr and odin is so crazy
Having tyr and kratos as friends is so badass. I still think they wasted Tyr in the main story but it’s still great to see him in the DLC
love that video, not even finished watching. This is simply amazing
Banger 🔥
The DLC was pretty great, if not kinda better than the last half of Ragnarok
I knew that haveing 2 god of wars would of been an amazing idea and it turned out better then I imagined.
I never imagined Tyr would be this cool.
Bro absolutely COOKED with this one
It ties all together, Kratos is now Wise man know when and when not to get hands dirty.
the god of war franchise was never on the verge of death
When I saw tyr here the only thing I could think about is your reaction to this
Watched the whole thing twice, this is great.
You don't meet the real Tyr through the main story till will wayy later in some snowy prison area if i remember correctly.
but even after we find tyr he does yoga poses nothing else, until valhalla where he shows his true self and became from a fraud to a chad
Bro the weapon upgrade combos too. Makes a weapon the strongest slaughtering machine

Just like kratos.
Just got my sub lil bro 😎 keep up the good work.
Can't wait to start the DLC. I just bought the game and I want to finish the story at the very least
That dlc is what kratos needed a therapy session
Tyr is basically similar to the avatar from the last airbender.
i like Tyr but in ragnarok story he was out and not invout at all
but they fix him here and I really love it
ngl i still think i want a atreus game or portions in the next game
Honestly I’d be down to see some Atreus updates. Give him some more tools to play with
Yow the avatar music bangs
I havent been the biggest fan of the new series I admit, most of the time it feels like a game made by people who wanted to make a movie.
However I do kind of appreciate what they tried to do here with the DLC having Kratos come to terms with what he did in Greece
That said I think the best characterization of Kratos comes from the original series, more accurately the 2 PSP games and Ascension as those are the closest we come to seeing Kratos the human before Kratos the god. And how the attempts of the gods to make Kratos less human to better fit his role ended up turning him into the monster that brought about the destruction of the Greek pantheon
I have not gotten more pissed in my entire effin life then when it was to fight tyr, this mf dont miss, dayummm
Bro I gotta admit I sent my controller flying… He gets even harder after you finish the dlc too

Please don’t lump Kratos in with that awful poorly written Loki show
you forgot to add 2 more things in your odin vs zeus video. Who the worst father was and who had the better drip
Damn you’re right.
I believe Odin has the superior drip, Zeus was pretty typical and was carried by his imposing physique
But I think Zeus was the worst father (even tho Odin is not far) considering Zeus has wayyy more kids and don’t even interact with them. Odin be bullying Thor but at least that man is present I guess 🤣.
Zeus at least called his sons "his sons". Odin treated his sons like expandable soldiers
@@DanielRodriguez-mc4bp Actually you might be right…
I was wondering how draupnir will give kratos the "6th sense" that brok talked about in order to kill vali
@@DanielRodriguez-mc4bp Yeah it’ll be explained for sure
I ain't got time for any lifting, today is leg day."
Kratos was a monster. He deserved bad things to happen to him.
I am happy he's trying to atone though.
You all still are bringing that up, Kratos was in the right there bruh.
@@broderickblack No. It's never right to use an innocent person to prop open a gate with their corpse. Dude can punch out a minator or cyclops but can't lift a gate? Ridiculous

Ik you are hard at work with your god of war ragnarok rewrites and we are grateful, but tbh I wouldn’t mind if you made a next god of war game prewrite that’d be so dope.
Imagine Kratos taking a vacation to Greece to fix his mistakes.
Rouge likes are always great
Can't wait for this game to hit PC
Tyr was playing chess while you were playing checkers.
Fact, can’t believe I was getting played this whole time
If he is staying in Norse and this is the last Norse game. Does that mean the next pantheon we will play as atreus? I don't mind, but I hope for at least a cameo.
You can actually find the real Tyr in a side quest in base Ragnarok
Would be cool tò see Vidar in the next game, as the God of vengeance After Ragnarok
I loved all the Atreous gameplay moments in GOWR tbh
All of them? I mainly loved his Asgard Missions and his first one with Freya.
@@TheNature904 yes, i thought his gameplay was a nice change to keep things fresh. And I was interested in his character as well, would be happy to get an Atreous spin off game
@@allandm I somewhat agree. I just feel like you can notice the slowness of his level designs on multiple play throughs. I am a fan of his story and character though.
