You have seen what we have invested in but now it is time to find out if the 2 x 5AH batteries that normally comes with the cordless mower will give enough performance. Наука
Got exactly same mower sitting boxed waiting to be used. Great little video
If you push your batteries past the point of them shutting off youre going to ruin the batterries, if they cut out and at 1 bar take off to charge, look after your batteries for much longer life
Looking into getting one of these, can you put Flexvolt’s in it? (Never mind, I’ve got further through your video now 😅)
Ive today ordered one . I have 4 x 5ah batteries . My grass area is twice that in the video but its all flat . Tired of my smelly old petrol mower . It badly needs servicing but its going on Ebay as is .
I think the 54v batteries run at 18v in 18v equipment.
P=V x I, so the current draw will be higher at a lower voltage for the same load.
Does the mower still run ok? I’ve seen mixed reviews on it but was thinking of getting one.
So we have now gone back to petrol for a few reasons. Mainly the fact that it broke down and we had to wait for repair.
Is that the dewalt cordless strimmer you reviewed previously in the background? How is it performing now?
It sure is and I have to do a follow up on it. But apart from a few little issues we are really happy with it. The bump wind head is pretty poor build quality as we are on our second replacement. We don't even use the bump wind on the head it is just from it brushing the ground and the plastic wears thin. Battery time is fine if you have a couple. You get a good 25 to 30 mins on high and about 45 on low and it is so lightweight. I wouldn't go back to petrol stimmers unless we are using a brush cutting blade. Hope this answer the question for you and I will get a video up about it soon.
You timed this vid well Dan. I've been toying with the idea of getting this mower when my current petrol mower dies. I already own two 9ah flexvolt batteries; it will be interesting to see how you get on with it. Regards, Fred
Are you a commercial user or just for home? We now have 4 9ah batteries for a days mowing
@@danreviewsitall Just a home user but my garden usually takes me about 45 minutes to cut.
@@Fred16721 great product for you then. Nice and clean and you already have the batteries 👍

Great video. Looking to buy this mower for my garden based on the spec advertised at 750m2. Garden is 33m x 20m so 650m2 ish. Already got two of the 6ah flex volt 18v / 54v from a previous dewalt product. Concern about the actual achievable m2 / performance of the mower with these batteries. Comments and thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
I have done a follow up video which basically is saying that they area fantastic for your own garden but not for commercial use. I think you might just make it with 6ah but it won't make it if you leave the grass to grow too long as you would be adding a higher load on the batteries. If you keep it regular then you should be fine.
@@danreviewsitall which the follow video?
@@carlrobson3694 sorry its not up yet.
@@danreviewsitall unsure why / they are allowed to advertise as 700m2 mower. So in your opinion x2 flex volt 54v 6ah should do 650m2 ? Seen so many mixed reviews on this product
@@carlrobson3694 yes it not right to advertise that. My guess itls the have tested it on grass that didn't really need cutting and therefor it had no load. As soon as you start cutting thick grass and the betteties heat up it reduces to half. I think if you are doing a normal grass cut 6ah will struggle to make it.
High dave thinking of getting one of these would you recommend. Are they a good cut
Yes if this they are for home use but I wouldnt recamended it for commercial use.
Been thinking about getting one. Is it selfprepelled
No it's push. There is a self prepelled model but I don't think it is very popular.
Can you use the 54v battery in the 18v one?
Yes you can me old mate.

Thanks for uploading.
your musings on flexvolt batteries around the 5 minute mark are wrong. the flexvolt system gives 54v at 3ah to tools that require it, and 18v at 9ah to tools that require it. The battery connector on the 18v and 54v tools are slightly different, the 54v tools have a different pin configuration that causes the battery to deliver the required voltage.
your observation that the 9ah flexvolt batteries give 50% more runtime instead of the expected 80% more runtime could be due to a non-controlled experiment, poor timing measurements and an experiment with a sample size of 1.
5ah= 30min.
Capacity-wise, remember, that mower is running at 36v... Its using your 2 flex volt batteries at 18v. Doubling the voltage halves the capacity. So 2 x 18v / 9AH batteries become 36v / 4.5Ah.
My Bosch electric mower, almost 10 years old now, came with 2, 36v, 2.5ah batteries (They're huge too) and each battery does about the same amount as this DeWalt mower on 1 charged set of batteries, so runtime wise, it looks like its about the same, only 2 x 5Ah batteries are half the cost of 1 Bosch 36v, and can be used on loads of other tools.
A Bosch 36v 2.5Ah battery is £215 and cant be used on anything else! This mower looks like a huge win mate... Very flexible battery system. Does the handle fold down?
Regarding being able to use it after 10 minutes when its flat, this is a simple chemistry issue with Lithium. The chemical reaction created when its running at full whack can cause it to suck the living daylights out of a battery due to the higher voltage/current, so when you let it settle and cool off, it balances out and re-stabilises, hence it can go again for a little bit.
Commercial gardeners really wouldnt be using these electric lawn mowers at all. There not suitable for anything beyond "DIY Enthusiast" and this is what these mowers are aimed at, the DIY enthusiasts who want good quality tools to use at home, and are sick of the garbage that Ryobi and the like keep churning out.
Handy for tradesmen to also use at home as they likely have the batteries from their work kt too.
Your maths is off mate.
You are adding 2 batteries together.
Not converting one battery into a higher voltage battery.
1 18v/9ah flexvolt has a total of 162Watt hours.
2 18v/9ah flexvolt batteries have a *combined* voltage of 324 watt hours. You don't magically loose total capacity if you add in another seperate battery.
Maths time:
🔋18v 9ah 162wh🔋18v 9ah 162wh
Add the wh together and you'll reach 324wh
Not like
🔋18v 9ah 162wh🔋18v 9ah 162wh
≠ 162wh
Two flex volt 9ah battery running at 36volts mode gives 9Ah at 36 volts. 9ah at 18v is 9ah at 54v it’s 3 ah.
