    Your analysis was spot on. I too like the fact that the DeWalt batteries are the best for recharging over and over again in multi tool applications. One more thing that you did not mention but is important is that the batteries should be stored and charged at room temperature during the cold winter months for extra life.

    Update time: I have mowed 3 times now and absolutely love this mower. It is light weight, quiet, great battery life compared to some other electric mowers, compact for storage. It has been very dependable. I have a small yard and have been able to get 2 mows on one charge. After 2nd mow I charge the batteries and it is ready to go for 2 more cuts. This is my first electric mower and I am very impressed with it. For me the biggest Pro is the battery life. Since these batteries take a long time to charge it is nice to be able to get 2 cuts in before I have to charge again. I have one Con and that is they skimped on the paint job on the undercarriage. To fix this I just bought some clear coat spray paint and gave it 2 coats of paint. Now that should protect it from rust better. I looked at other electric mowers and am glad I went with this one. 👍👍👍

    I have a bunch of 4 ah batteries I bought in 2014. I have them stored inside always and always holding a full charge. I have had them on many job sites used all day long. Haven't had a single issue with any of them. I was always scared they wouldn't last long but they lasted very well. I bought them in set of 2 for 99$ Canadian in 2014. Same 2 batteries cost 179+ now. Glad I bought so many back then.
    Just ordered the mower with the two 12 ah flexvolt batteries. I think I'm more excited about the batteries than the mower 😂

    Great video ! I have an EGO 21 in. Self propelled mower (got on sale for $499) and mow about an 8,000 sq ft lawn. It has a 7.5 amp hour Battery (about $400 American) quite expensive . It has a plastic deck and I can only mow about 75% of the lawn before the battery runs out. It has only on lever to adjust mowing height, which is very nice. The handle is adjustable and I'm short at 5"2", so I like the ergonomics. It doesn't pick up off the lawn either and it's because they try to get the most battery life by using a blade that is basically flat, they do offer better lift cut blades, but it sucks the battery power to run it. I love this thing, it's light, it mows well and I would highly recommend it if it weren't a power hog. I intend to buy another battery. probably a smaller 5 or 6 Amp hour battery that's cheaper to help me finish the lawn. Now, I take a break for an hour, it charges quickly and finish it up, which isn't a problem for me, I'm 72 yrs old and I need a break in the hot summer anyhow, lol! Not recommended for commercial applications - IMO. Like Dewalt, EGO batteries work in all their power application tools which does make it nice. It was recommended as the best battery power mower by Consumer reports.

    I just got this mower last month and have already gotten about 12 uses out of it, and although its ease of use is fantastic, the mower is not strong enough to generate enough suction to really lift the grass and get a clean cut. I find that it misses a lot of spots or just pushes tall grass down altogether.

    We have had this gen 2 mower for 3 years. We mow 1/4 acre of lawn (bermuda) in the scorching Texas heat 1-2 times per week. The mower has been flawless and has performed very well for our family. We have mowed through very high grass for neighbors you just have to set it high, go a little slower and then mow again with a proper height.

    I live in central Wisconsin & I purchased mine in March during a cold spell, from the local Fleet Farm, and I couldn't try it out until the end of April. I bought it "On sale" of course for $500! What a disaster! The longest it has run is 25 minutes between charges. I mow .5 acres and don't use the self propelled drive, & the run time appears to be steadily declining. Just because the charger says it's charged means nothing. I need to remove the batteries and put them back on the chargers several times over a couple of hours to get them charged. And then they only last maybe 20 minutes. And the actual mowing is atrocious! It's as though the blade is dull, even when I first took it out of the box. I've mowed my lawn 6 times so far and I've always had to finish with my old old old gas mower with bad rings! I got absolutely screwed!

    I looked at one today , your right the ergonomics are based on everyone in the world being over 5’9 , it needs an adjustable push bar big time , even if they added some extra holes to mount the handle lower, it was a no go even before I looked at the rest of it. The steel deck is a excellent addition but I’ve got a big lawn with lots of extra debris, it’s one hit with my Honda, so frustrating as I already have so many dewalt batteries.

Basically the DeWalt products are the only ones having 2 or 3 out of 5 stars when looking at the DeWalt or THD website. So I’ve had them for three summers now and a couple of things. I think the other companies out there have surpassed the waltz quality for the cordless mowers. They’re an awesome machine they’re well-built, but they just don’t have the power you think they should for the price of them, they work great for me when we were mowing residential lawns every week but a lot of people tend to leave the grass just a little too long sometimes and people who do that are going to have a rough time with the Dewalt? I’ve also heard of some people having some quality control issues with them whether it’s the control board burning up or things like that but my experience with them has been great.

    I've had mine for a couple months. Mine is a 2022 model that came with 2x 10ah batteries. My only complaint is the suction as you mentioned in your video. On one hand it's good that it doesn't pick up rocks. It really is poor at sucking up leaves etc on the ground if they are remotely "stuck" The old gas mower had no problem. I do love the mower however and it is not a deal breaker. I wonder if installing flex volt batteries would give it a little more oomph, have you tried that? The only other thing i miss from my gas model, it had the hose port on the top of the base that i could quick connect a hose to it for a quick clean after use.

      So two full summers ago I bought two of these so they each came with 210 amp hour batteries and we would mow. Let’s say six average residential lawns per day and I would go through both sets of batteries on one mower so we would swap them out for some flex volt batteries afterwards and make it through the day but I really love the run time I get somewhere between 45 and 60 minutes of constant run time and that’s a lot more mowing than most people think.

    When you were discussing how the machine doesn't seem to pick up things, my first thought was, why don't you get a high lift blade? Then you mentioned how you can only get blades @ Dewalt. I wonder what's different about these that you couldn't jury rig a more standard blade.
    Most people don't realize that not all mower blades are the same. You can get high or low lift, mulching, etc. It could be that the mower comes with a crappy blade and that's the issue rather than the mower itself.

    • @TOOLMANTIMSWORKSHOP
      @TOOLMANTIMSWORKSHOP  Год назад

      So I looked into that a little bit more since I did this last video and I believe what I have found out number one is that the Dewalt uses its own blade but it’s quite a bit lighter weight and I believe the reason for that is is battery tends to be more high speed as opposed to high torque so it doesn’t have the power to spin a really heavy blade now the mower still running two years later I may experiment with it at some point, but the blades that come with it, and you need to replace it with our a very light weight

    I side discharge almost 100 percent of the time and what I do is throw that plastic insert aside and use a stick or small piece of wood a little bit thicker than one of your fingers to keep the spring loaded door on the side of my gas mower open and the mower hardly ever gets plugged up. Throws the grass out further. Sometimes I've experienced small debris flying out such as sand that hits my face but only when I run it over my sand and gravel mix driveway to get to the next patch of grass to cut. Cut through 6 inches plus grass easily and yes it's thick grass on most of my quarter acre lawn.

    I have had better luck using my flexvolt batteries, I never had any of the not wanting to kick into high speed issues that you said you have had, and I found with my Flexvolt 9ah batteries have a longer runtime then the 10ah 20volt max batteries it came with and for some reason it even seems to have more power too. That and the Flexvolt batteries don't get near as hot as the 10ah 20volt batteries do, so I think the Flexvolts will have a longer life, also you can charge them right way and don't have to wait for ages (like you do with the 20volt batteries) to cool down before you can charge them.
