Where do you get that paper stuff that you're putting over your paint? Also, I saw that you were getting things from AliExpress? Do they have a website or are they on Etsy?
My all time favorite of all the videos I've watched. These colors are gorgeous. I usually try to be so conservative with my colors but I LOVE the bright ones. Reminds me of the colors that were popular in the 70's and were on black-light posters. 😂
Greatest instructional video yet ! Although many are helpful and I learn a little something from all of you who share your valuable information and your time ! God bless everyone who makes us better !
Hi Susan, you sure do beautiful work! I watch Demi’s channel and yours! I’ve learned so much and have only started dot art three weeks ago! I ordered the deco art americana paint but what you are using is just really spectacular looking….i may get some and just thin it like u…worth the effort for sure!
Oh Susan.... YES!!! I think I might be infatuated with your rainbow art. I swear I can look at a mandala and know it's yours before I'm told! I just wanted to swing by your channel and hit that like button and wish you the Happiest Holidays and a Rockin' New Year! You have been so sweet to me and your awesome personality shows through all you do. Thank you so much for restoring a bit more of my faith in others. I seriously wish that 2024 will be your bestest year ever and that you get everything you desire. Rock on.... rock on!
Love these colors!!… your art is beautiful and I really enjoy your channel!!… your voice is very calming also🙂 Being new to dotting myself, I have been practicing . Is there a “feel” of what pattern comes next on the mandala?… I get “stuck” on what my next pattern should be while having it look nice to the eye at the same time🤪… Any tips are appreciated!!.. Have a great day and looking forward to MORE of your videos!!! Great job!!
Thank you and welcome to the dotting addiction 🥰 I have been at it since 2017 and all I can say is in time you will get the feel of pattern making. It didn’t have to be complicated and you can always repeat your previous rows with a change in colours. If you look at this one I did the pattern just repeats with different colours. I use colours that compliment or ads interest like top dots…purple over red adds drama to the piece. So just play with your colour wheel and relax and enjoy playing .
So great to see you here, Susan! Can’t wait to try this beautiful mandala. Thank you for all the little details you throw in as you do your tutorials. So helpful!
Wonderful, wonderful work 👏👏 Your creativity is fantastic and your techniques are superb. You are a true artist. Thank you so much for sharing your talent 👏👏👏😃🌈
The colors evoke joy!!!! I love this mandala so much. Thrilled you decided to do the tutorial. I’m new to dotting and couldn’t figure out how you made the petal shape change from round to pointy on your walked dots. In all the videos I have watched this is the first time I have seen how to accomplish this shape. Thanks so very much. ❤
I’m glad I helped with the petal shape. I remember wondering how others did that too…simple that it’s just spacing 😜 Have fun and welcome to the addiction of dotting .
Thanks for a comprehensive start to finish tutorial. This is beautiful! One thing you might try if the wood disk is rough, base coat as you did, then do a light coat of urethane then draw grid and dot on top of urethane. Dots are easy to clean off of the smooth urethane coat, and you won't have the rough texture making outer edge of the dots a bit jagged. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Thank you for the comment. I have often put a coat over my base. But I find it hard to see the grid lines. And for tutorials people love to see them clearly. I also love to dot on a resin surface …so smooth ❤️❤️❤️
You definitely inspire me to do this. It will be a while as I’m in the process of searching for a house so I’ve started packing things up. I will definitely be doing this when I get settled in.
I’m learning on how to create these beautiful mandalas💜. I’m watching so many tutorials and have yet to buy the tools and paints. I just subscribed to your channel and must say I love your mandalas and color choices 🌸I’m learning so much💕
Thank you Angi! When you are feeling ready I start dotting I highly recommend the Happy Dotting tools I used for this video. I have many different sets and these are my fav, second fav is the DIY Mandala stone tools. I would check out the Otauna RUclips channel as Ginger has great videos for beginners. I’m hear for you anytime you have a question ❤️

I'm recently new to the "dots," and I am wondering about the cheaper quality of wood I've seen on Amazon. Could Gesso be used on the board first to avoid blemishes in the wood?
If you want to paint on wood you can lightly sand it and then use gesso . I have done that with no prob. You can also get packs of inexpensive stretched canvases in lower quality if you’re just starting out. Michael’s in Canada have different “grades” of canvases.
I use Liquitex pouring medium. This will make nice full dots. I also use Liquitex flow aid, this acts more like water so good for thinning when I do swooshes
If I want the paint to be thinner…especially if I do swooshes . I usually use pouring medium as it also gives nice body while it thins the paint. Sorry I use both. Flow aid is more like water but it doesn’t break down the paint.
I am dying to know whether normal acrylic paint used for painting can be used for dotting art by adding the thickening medium. Would really appreciate it if you could reply, thank you very much 🙏
@@SusanNelsonCreationsyes, thin it, not thicken it 😂. Thank you very much for your time to reply to me. I am gonna buy and watch more of your videos. I hv ordered the tools and gone for trial lessons (they used Americana). Can't wait to start on my own.

Hi, thank you for the tutorial. May I know which black did you use for the base color?
I just use the black gesso by Liquitex .
Hi Susan .
Great work .
I had a question ;
What liquid do you add to the paints at the beginning ?
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
I use Liquitex pouring medium. This will make nice full dots. I also use Liquitex flow aid, this acts more like water so good for thinning when I do swooshes
Un bonjour de Belgique, petit pays au nord de la France.
Hello, thank you for stopping in to say hi ❤
Love this! Question… at 11:40 you mentioned the two mediums you use for thinning. When do you use the flow aid instead of pouring medium?
If I want the paint to be thinner…especially if I do swooshes . I usually use pouring medium as it also gives nice body while it thins the paint. Sorry I use both. Flow aid is more like water but it doesn’t break down the paint.
I am dying to know whether normal acrylic paint used for painting can be used for dotting art by adding the thickening medium. Would really appreciate it if you could reply, thank you very much 🙏
Yes you can. Just need to thin it down with what you prefer.
Pouring medium , flow aid for example .
