I got emotional watching this episode. And by new allies I don't think Canute was referring to how he can come back to them and rely on them when he's in need of them, but simply the fact that they share the same goal as him just through different means.
Thorfinn and Canute dynamic is so perfect, Thorfinn inside his mind saying Canute is a great man for the whole idea of saving the vikings in the previous episode. And now in this episode we see Canute inside his mind saying how someone like this be born from viking kind is such a beautiful moment. Snake telling his name hits hard because he abandoned his name and it seems to be ashamed of it because of his tough past, Thorfinn not only influenced Canute and Olmar but he also did that to Snake. What a beautiful payoff for these characters
I don't know why, but I've never been so proud seeing a fictional character's journey as much as I'm proud of Thorfinn. We must all learn to have no enemies, because we truly have no enemies.

I'm glad to see Olmar most likely ended up with that girl he was sleeping with before, because she seemed to really genuinely care for him and wasn't just after his family's wealth like her parents were.
Crazy how Olmar grew and went down the Thorfinn path and became a better, fulfilled man who most likely found love as well as purpose, whilst Thorgil never strayed from violence and became condemned to wandering alone and without friends or family

The head haunting Canute was everything Canute didn’t want to do but thought was necessary. That’s why Canute no longer sees the head, cause he’s no longer doing the things he didn’t want to do as a necessity
Nah. This season, for those who stayed they deeply respect the passion put into this project. Thorfinn’s character only gets better from here. Baltic Sea arc gonna go stupid
@@benapeh854 I think the most spoiler free preview I can give is that the Baltic Sea Arc is all about testing Thorfinn's new found resolve and path, it basically challenges Thorfinn's new ideology and he has to deal with some of the consequences of his past actions
For those who are interested in reading along with the manga, this episode basically adapted all of chapters 98 and 99. Additionally this episode also adapted the promise Einar and Thorfinn made at Arnheid’s grave to build a land of peace in Vinland, which was originally depicted in chapter 93 (i.e. around the equivalent of the end of episode 20 of this season). Besides the standard shortening of dialogue, there weren’t any other major differences between this episode and the manga. Though in the manga Thorfinn’s face during his goodbye to Snake, Pater, Olmar, and old master Sverkel was depicted as far more puffy and swollen (adding a tone of levity that I am guessing the studio felt would be more jarring/clashing in the medium of anime). There was also some additional narration specifying what happened to Ketil’s farm. Basically Ketil retired from being head of the farm having “lost his bountiful appetite for work” (i.e. he became sad and depressed), and the manga makes it more clear he became blinded in his right eye due to the wound he suffered. Olmar stepped up to permanently become head of the farm, and paid sizable reparation to the families of every man who was wounded or killed in the battle. Said payments cost Ketil’s farm half of its land and wealth. There was also an additional joke of Sverkel telling Snake he had to learn to use a hoe before he could use the plow.
I hate how they keep removing scenes where the characters address their feelings about Ketil, this is the third times the anime did this. Einar said he doesn’t want to see Ketil and Thorfinn said he agrees with him he doesn’t want Ketil's thanks
We can't forget, if you're going to catch up to the manga, we've been on hiatus since what, Feb? So take your time, it's not a race, or like a lot of us f it up and read it in under a week like some dickheads lmfao.
@@momame8258 same. I still don't get why the anime decided to cut out him mumbling Arnheid's name. They just showed him crying. That was the main thing that irritated me
This felt like a finale for a season but the actual final episode will feel more lighthearted and hopeful for what's to come next season. We need it because this arc made me feel so many ways, and I already read this arc in the manga. I need a humble episode to cool down from this whole season.
That "Carve it" poem was the same one from the first episode of this season and it hit so much harder here. An amazing encapsulation of this masterpiece season.
The character journey and development for Canute and Thorfinn is insane considering where they were as people years prior. I spent most of this episode holding back tears.
It's ironic because Snake's subordinates told Olmar that killing someone would make him a "real man." His transformation into a better person really did seem to start after he stabbed that guy through the neck, just for a different reason than everyone thought. Not sure if they caught it, but the ending text about "carving" is the same as the opening narration in episode 1 of this season.
Think about how refreshing it is for Canute that when someone pulls up on him for peace negotiations they’re actually trying to be peaceful with no ulterior motive like he’s probably used to For the first time in a while he could actually trust someone
I always said it takes a true king and a true warrior to achieve their goals we was just waiting on thorfinn to become the true warrior canute and his victims had to suffer for 15 years waiting for thorfinn🤣
Pretty dope moment was when Canute asked Thorfinn ”Who did you take after” because he reminded him of Askeladd the way he talked, plus Thorfinn crossed his arms in exact the same way Askeladd used to do it
WTF I cried so much 😭 The goodbye scene reminded me of Frodo saying goodbye to his Friends when going to the Undying Lands.😭 The scene where Olmar thanked Thorfinn and said "I want to become a Strong & kind man like you" really hit me and was the trigger. The Staging and the music definitely played a great part in it. What a beautiful Episode.
This episode completely changed everything I thought about what this anime gonna be like, when thorfin decided to go meet the king I was like finally we done with that farm arc and this anime is really about to start and get some action in for the main man, I finish episodes 22/23 and I regret ever wanting thorfin to fight, show really caught me off guard and I never thought that it would be million times better than I thought. I could honestly accept this episode and finale to the whole story and be a happy person. it immediately became one of the best things I ever watched and will always recommend to people. what a brilliant show, the music and directing is just magnificent too
I was hoping to see Thorfinn's swollen up face from the manga because of how funny it was, but this was such a sweet ending to the Farm Arc that I've got no regrets from this. Vinland Saga is the GOAT of character development and story.
I saw one person said that one fo the reasons that this penultimate episode was so impactful was because almost everyone in this episode had their faith in humanity restored because of Thorfinn and Einar and it's so true.
Idk if you noticed it but the quotes at the end of the ep are the same from the beginning of ep 1 of this season but in different light, it's really beautiful
Only 2 words I can use to describe this series as a whole is "beautiful" and "breathtaking". Never seen a better series in terms of character development.
what sheera said was something I never thought about, when canute started to become this version of himself, his words where "you are the creature farthest from love" and "this soul cannot be saved by your trials" when talking about bjorn, at that point, he probably lost all hope for vikings to become true warriors, but then he see's torfin, someone who was as much if not more gone than bjorn, and if could become a beautifull men, then there's truly redemption for everyone, what an amazing detail. this story is goated and my favourite manga ever
Another detail is that in episode 1 of this season, the “carve it” poem is spoken in Icelandic using the word for “cut” but written and translated with the kanji for CARVE, as in carving flesh. In episode 23, it is still read as “cut it into your flesh, cut it into the land” but they use the kanji for ENGRAVE to symbolize Thorfinns growth from a carver, a force of destruction, a “warrior”, to an engraver, someone trying to add something beautiful to the world… as his father Thors would say, a “true warrior.”
Sadest part for me is we are living the life they are been dreaming off, but its still hard to apriciate all the hard work all of our ancestors did to make our lives easier. But we still know problems doesnt end there we still have to carve it every day, Hoping we can make a better future for everyone.
I’m so glad so many people enjoyed this arc. I’m pretty sure a good amount of people dropped it because there wasn’t epic action moments like S1, but those who stuck around got experience some of the best work ever put out in manga/anime. If any of y’all action sluts made it through this season then you’ll definitively love S3 if they animate it 😈
Same Snake telling his real name was my favourite moment too. Like it just hit different! Hope we will get to see more of snake in future! He was a solid character, i want to see him and thorfin fight together they would be such a dynamic duo!
We would have gotten an episode of his backstory written by the mangaka himself but the director didn't know where to put it so hopefully we get an ova or a movie that would be 🔥
this episode was so deserved on so many levels, it's refreshing for a mature, oftentimes brutal, story like this to end an arc on a hopeful note. it would be so easy to continue lingering on all the sadness, hopelessness, violence, etc... but this story is different. it shows that hope is real, kindness can make a positive change in the world, and anyone can grow to be a better human being... it's honestly so beautiful
Imagine bro, someone's trying fight you and you don't hit him back and just run away. That's so powerful bro. When everyone would fight back, you run away to not hurt the man in front of you. That's honorable. When everyone's drinking whiskey and bourbon, you sit there and drink water. When everyone gets tired of carrying the boats and give into their emotions . You carry the boat alone. You are tired too. But you wouldn't let yourself be controlled by your feelings.
Canute understood that for the ideal world to be created, there had to be a place that was the total oposite of what he was creating. He understood that Thorfin's world would be complementary to his plan, and they both suceeding, was the ideal scenario.
What Canute meant about "new allies" is that he understood that with Thorfinn they have same goal but in different ways. That's all. But the meaning of this one is so good that make their relationship more important in a way.
Some details the anime left out at the end: So like they showed Olmar offered money to Thorfinn but he rejected it because he thinks the farm needs it more for all the rebuilding they have to do. Olmar took over the farm from Ketil who got depressed and retired, that's why we saw him working like his dad used to. He also paid a lot of money to the families of the men who got wounded and killed and that cost him half of his land and wealth. The guests were working because Snake decided that they needed to earn their daily meals instead of lazing off everyday. The old master was the one who forced Snake to do the same. Thorgil left the farm but didn't go back to Canute apparently he was never heard from again. Everything I said is what the narrator said in the chapter that covered those last scenes.
I feel like Canute also saw Throfinn was trying to save him the same way He was trying to Save the Vikings which gave him an answer for how to rule in the way he wanted to. With Compassion.
I CANNOT say enough…. VINLAND IS PEAKLAND. This is one of the rare jewels in anime that has the ability to make many cry JUST from dialogue through many episodes. Thorfinn is doing it!!! From him saying, “what is it that I want to do?” TO “I know what I need to do.” 😩 I’m so freaking proud of our man Thorfinn. Arnheid’s character was VITAL in this season. So for people saying she was too focused on… sit down. She is (in some ways unfortunately) the CATALYST to what Thorfinn & Einar are about to do. Canute doing what he did gave me MAD respect for that man. So freaking good. Masterpiece. Next episode, Home, is about to be emotional… 🥹 the beginning “carve it” makes sense now, coming full circle 🔥
I cant wait for the baltic sea war arc to get animated (hopefully it does), because it has some of my favorite moments and my favorite manga panel of thorfinn in the entire series.
The feels I got from this episode were just amazing. Seeing just how much of a positive impact Thorfinn made on everyone he met on the farm from Olmar, Snake, Old Master, Pater and even on Canute, it's no wonder they all think of him as a one of a kind incredible man. The scene of Thorfinn and Einar by Arnheid's grave is one of the best scenes I've ever witnessed in any show given the deep context behind it. Also that special poem at the end of the episode was just beautiful. Perfect way to wrap up the farmland arc for every single character we saw in S2.
The whole reason Snake, Badger, Fox etc used these nicknames was because they apparently committed a crime and was punished by literally forbidding them from using their real names. This is effectively being stripped of all your worldly possessions and rights because your name was really the only thing you had that could identify you back then.
It's like Thorfinn appealed to what little humanity Canute still held inside and made him embrace that part of himself. He's still a king and will do what kings in this time period did, but he'll be listening to Thorfinn's voice now and not his father's
While Olmar has a reputation based on lie like his father, he would actually take to heart what he has seen Thorfinn has said and done; and so will be a better man for it and stronger too.
I love the distinction Thorfinn makes clear. He does not want to fight and will choose any other option so long as even one other choice is available. However, if he is forced to fight as the final drastic measure, he will fight to protect himself and others if even running away is no longer a choice. He will keep running and running to wherever peace can lie until he can no longer. That is what makes him a true warrior. He has all the skills and power necessary to defeat even the strongest men, but he chooses peace above all else until peace itself is no longer possible. Then he will fight for peace like he did against Snake.
Besides everything beautiful that has been said about this episode, I just realized that the "Carve it" sequence appeared back at the beginning of the season, when it was narrated in Norse language!
Hearing this stuff just hits different when you realize all of the violence irl (not anime). I really hope things change for the better of our world. I hope this anime can reach some people and start a change
That part where is said “Such a beautiful man” even though Thorfinn loooed like a walking dead 😂💔. The heart conveys more than our outward appearance. Look beyond race, color or religion, we are humans.
It's crazy how Thorfinn character change and people said S2 of this show was not worth watching after episode 12. Like come on man, this show is top tier even without the fights. Thorfinn finally understand what his dad was saying all those years and became somewhat like him. Definitely, a good anime for sure🔥💯

@@momame8258maybe mappa was so pissed with Ketil also and didn't make much scenes with him also lmao😅
@@momame8258 same. I still don't get why the anime decided to cut out him mumbling Arnheid's name. They just showed him crying. That was the main thing that irritated me
lmao the ketil's wife teleportation 🤣
Canute finally got his most-needed laugh and liberation from his father's cursed head😆
Nothing is coming close to Vinland S2 in term of adaptation AND story, this is just so beautiful
It took Olmar only 2 weeks when it took Thorfinn 15 years because it's a lot easier to give up fighting when you suck at it lmao
Didn’t want to win anyways lol
LMAOOOOO 💀
Technically it took Olmar 3 years.
Nah you right, but olmar now has that farmers strength from hoeing the ground 😂
"Sometimes Cowards Survives"

Such a goated series. Can't wait for the future of the series and to see Thorfinns future development.
Did not expect to hear Snake's real name in here, I will never forget you Roald, son of Grim
No way, I was not expecting y’all to drop the Vinland reaction 😭😭, you’ll probably really enjoyed this episode and had to drop it ASAP. We’re blessed
Think about how refreshing it is for Canute that when someone pulls up on him for peace negotiations they’re actually trying to be peaceful with no ulterior motive like he’s probably used to
For the first time in a while he could actually trust someone
Props to everyone and special props to the person playing the piano, was popping off almost every episode😂
Give the guy with the piano a raise, he killed it this season😂😂
I love that Thorfinn and Canute came to a common ground, both kings in their own ways
I always said it takes a true king and a true warrior to achieve their goals we was just waiting on thorfinn to become the true warrior canute and his victims had to suffer for 15 years waiting for thorfinn🤣
I teared the f up in the episode. It was very beautiful. Ive never teared up for this reason before. AOTY.
Canute: what will you do?
Thorfinn: I'll run...
Canute: well... You got me there, I guess I'll leave the farm alone
That flash step that Ketil's wife did at 12:07 was pretty slick😆. The editor is really goated.
Pretty dope moment was when Canute asked Thorfinn ”Who did you take after” because he reminded him of Askeladd the way he talked, plus Thorfinn crossed his arms in exact the same way Askeladd used to do it
You know a show is special when it hits your feelings with honest pure happiness.
"This the arc the Ja Morant need."
Naw that's violation bro...💀
I literally have the most joyfull cry watching this season, just peak storytelling
WTF I cried so much 😭
The goodbye scene reminded me of Frodo saying goodbye to his Friends when going to the Undying Lands.😭
The scene where Olmar thanked Thorfinn and said "I want to become a Strong & kind man like you" really hit me and was the trigger. The Staging and the music definitely played a great part in it.
What a beautiful Episode.
There has never been an anime I can so wholeheartedly recommend than this. What a story, character development, story - just everything is amazing.
I could honestly accept this episode and finale to the whole story and be a happy person.
it immediately became one of the best things I ever watched and will always recommend to people.
what a brilliant show, the music and directing is just magnificent too
Not many shows on TV (not just anime, but in general) with a message like this one 😢
this is why i like watching you guys! I knew im not the only one finding this season frickin beautiful!
I was hoping to see Thorfinn's swollen up face from the manga because of how funny it was, but this was such a sweet ending to the Farm Arc that I've got no regrets from this. Vinland Saga is the GOAT of character development and story.
I almost cried watching this episode, but I don't think I'll be able to resist next episode...
next episode will make men cry...
The bravest man is he who knows he can win a fight but chooses not to fight back ❤. Such a strong character development. Goosebumps all over
This season isn’t even over yet and I already miss it
I got chills and teary eyes in this episode not because it was sad but because how beautiful it is. This series is easily my favorite show of all time
Only 2 words I can use to describe this series as a whole is "beautiful" and "breathtaking".
Never seen a better series in terms of character development.
MAPPA to the animators: Some of you may die, but thats a sacrifice i'm willing to make
what sheera said was something I never thought about, when canute started to become this version of himself, his words where "you are the creature farthest from love" and "this soul cannot be saved by your trials" when talking about bjorn, at that point, he probably lost all hope for vikings to become true warriors, but then he see's torfin, someone who was as much if not more gone than bjorn, and if could become a beautifull men, then there's truly redemption for everyone, what an amazing detail. this story is goated and my favourite manga ever
If any of y’all action sluts made it through this season then you’ll definitively love S3 if they animate it 😈
First night of peaceful sleep for Thorfin.
This is by far my favorite anime. It's come so far from when I first discovered it as an Amazon prime original anime. Man BEAUTIFUL!
This episode got me to shed a tear ngl 😭😭
Canute understood that for the ideal world to be created, there had to be a place that was the total oposite of what he was creating. He understood that Thorfin's world would be complementary to his plan, and they both suceeding, was the ideal scenario.
What Canute meant about "new allies" is that he understood that with Thorfinn they have same goal but in different ways. That's all. But the meaning of this one is so good that make their relationship more important in a way.
*”And that, is how Florida was founded”*
*Their has to be a RUclips reaction award to give to these people*
Some details the anime left out at the end:
So like they showed Olmar offered money to Thorfinn but he rejected it because he thinks the farm needs it more for all the rebuilding they have to do.
The ja line made me walk out my room….I was laughing so hard at this shit 😂
I feel like Canute also saw Throfinn was trying to save him the same way He was trying to Save the Vikings which gave him an answer for how to rule in the way he wanted to. With Compassion.
Roald,Son of Grim made us cry saying his real name
An amazing episode man, this is the first time that I actually teared up seeing someone's development. 11/10 series
THAT JA MORANT JOKE GOT ME😂😭😭
12:06 Bro I CHOKED, editor just added that for no reason and it was the funniest thing I've seen all week 💀
Standing ovation for Peakland Saga. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 10/10
Ketil's wife using instant transmission caught me so off guard lmaooo 12:06
I cant wait for the baltic sea war arc to get animated (hopefully it does), because it has some of my favorite moments and my favorite manga panel of thorfinn in the entire series.
Throfinn going all Mr. Miyagi with the "no be there" lol.
7:49 As long as you're alive, you can....run
There are so many Profound moments that it just blows me away every time, Vinland has given me so much wisdom it changed my views on life lol nutty.
Thorfinn out here destroying toxic masculinity
Carve this show into my soul.
Ja Wick gotta watch this one show and he'll be the next NBA star fr
While Olmar has a reputation based on lie like his father, he would actually take to heart what he has seen Thorfinn has said and done; and so will be a better man for it and stronger too.
And tbf he was heading to Canute, and he was willing to stand up to his psycho murderlord brother in the name of peace so he gets props for that alone
The episode is just so captivating.
That village girls parents my be overjoyed she managed to entrap Olmar from the earlier episodes
Man you guys are so on point with the show's philosophy it's crazy❤
Besides everything beautiful that has been said about this episode, I just realized that the "Carve it" sequence appeared back at the beginning of the season, when it was narrated in Norse language!
Hearing this stuff just hits different when you realize all of the violence irl (not anime). I really hope things change for the better of our world. I hope this anime can reach some people and start a change
That part where is said “Such a beautiful man” even though Thorfinn loooed like a walking dead 😂💔. The heart conveys more than our outward appearance. Look beyond race, color or religion, we are humans.
"I'm tired, Boss." mannn Lupasan kills me 😂😂
It's crazy how Thorfinn character change and people said S2 of this show was not worth watching after episode 12. Like come on man, this show is top tier even without the fights. Thorfinn finally understand what his dad was saying all those years and became somewhat like him. Definitely, a good anime for sure🔥💯
