    Mr. Schwartz and the DSM / Humboldt teams are doing incredible work, but this video is really special... and I bet most people don't even totally see why. Imagine not only being able to explain, in highly technical detail, everything about your, frankly, unmatched and inventive technology... but doing so in more than one language, while also being able to demo the product like a pro. Now imagine being able to do so with humility and poise. All while being willing to improve on something that already sounded like an absolute monster.
    Props on the much-desired addition of what sounds like a really warm and complimentary reverb, by the way.

    Great stuff! DSM & Humboldt are blazing a trail into uncharted territory to produce authentically tube-like tones using solid-state analog electronics. Sounds great, and to have it in such a tiny package is nothing short of magic.

    OK so after researching this and watching multiple demos I acquired this a few days ago. I have to say that I am beyond impressed! I'm a tube amp snob thru and thru but this little box has given me a great option for home playing, practice and recording. I've tried it with both headphones and with my powered studio monitors and it sounds and feels incredible. Has all the feel of an actual tube amp which is so important to me. Gets great clean and over-driven tones and easily cleans up with my guitar's volume knob. About the only knock I found is that it is very noisy even with 'buckers if everything is maxed but I would seldom if ever even do that. I have yet to try it with pedals but I am confident it will work just fine with my stable of boxes. I'm also sure it would be a realistic option for live performance. All I can say is KUDOS DSM/HUMBOLDT!

    Congratulations for getting all the important stuff included. The power amp drive and responsiveness/dynamics and the interaction between preamp and power amp are so important and it looks like you’ve really done it and the name still holds true because you have simplified the controls for these types of amps. This is so important and the reason why so many people went to full tube heads coupled with attenuators and reamping capabilities - so they crank it up to capture the power amp magic but still control volume. You’ve done it without all the need for the full head and attenuator/reamp combination. I’ve just been using some preamps with a new analog pedal power amp emulator that also includes all controls for power amp function and features like negative feedback, bias, PI Gain, Master Output, Rectifier type, tube type, power (headroom response) simulation from 5watt to 100watt. Analog 9v pedal. You’ve done all that but with simplified controls. Really nice job! This is so much smaller than my tube JMP preamp plus PAE-1 power amp emulator plus Torpedo CAB M+, which is infinitely smaller than my previous 50 watt hand wired Plexi plus Fryette PS2 plus Torpedo CAB M+ setup. All dwindled down in size to a single pedal with three pretty iconic amps in it. One question - is there going to be a Simplifier DLX MKII? If so, how long until that is released?

    Fantastic work on this device! I play a Silver Sky into the Simplifier mk2. I fully crank the power amp and preamp and it gives me the entire volume knob on the Silver Sky. Pushed clean at 3, full on rock at 5, searing and roaring at 10. I can feel the love that went into this little box.

    This comany is aweosme, and created THE GREATEST PRODUCT EVER the Simplifer DLX. HOWEVER, quality control issues are the problem. So all this company has to do is make the DLX with PERFECT quality, hell make it an inch bigger on all sides if you need to so you have more space to pack the internal components. It is the perfect pedal. the DLX options and layout... just make it bigger to help your QC of it. I had to return mine sadly over a switch arriving stuck on one amp. Unfortunatley not everyone has the time to play music go round with quality control. Also unfotunately, it was an incredible prodcut which was perfect beside this.

    This pedal is one of the best thought-out product I've seen, it's been designed to give the most possible features in the smalles form factor and it covers a lot of possible I/O configurations. But I have a little suggestions for the next revision: make the cab bypass switch work for both output jacks instead of just for the R one. This way we could have a stereo DI out to FOH via XLR and a stereo out for power amps + cabs via TS cables.

    I have a Simplifier DLX on the way. I use 2 channel tube amps with pedals when I can, but I'm running into more situations where I have to run direct. I'm sick of fiddling with modelers, IRs, etc. I'm hoping this will work with my pedalboard and switcher to give me a decent approximation of having the amp in there with no menus and crap to dial in. Just knobs I can see. The stereo option is a nice touch, as I have occasion to run stereo. It seems like a very well thought out, practical tool for the gigging guitarist.

Does that mean that only this output is affected by the change ? Or both ? For instance, when I want to bypass the cab sim, can I still run the signal in stereo by sending Out L and Out R to different amps, or is only the Right Output affected by the switch and cabsim-less ?

    Ok, so here goes. Don't hate me.
    I purchased the Mk.1. After around 3 weeks of trying my best with endless combinations of effects, outboard gear like EQ and compression, different guitars and pickups BUT I sold it because
    1) The loop clipped SO early. Not *good* or desirable clipping, either.
    2) It couldn't handle my drives, distortions, and Fuzz. Well, most of them
    3) It was so *DI*- so direct. A DI Box trying to be an amp & Cab Sim
    Have any of these issues been addressed in the Mk.2? Sure does seem to sound better.

    Good afternoon, I would be very grateful if you could answer a technical question for me. In your device there is a simulation of the output stage of a power amplifier. What kind of circuitry are you simulating, single ended or push-pull? What kind of distortion does the output signal have, meander or step distortion?

    • @dsmnoisemaker101
      @dsmnoisemaker101 2 месяца назад +1

      Hi !! The output power circuit has a push pull topology with a phase inverter and output stage. The transformer and speaker impedance curve is added and fed back to the phase inverter. While changing amp type it changes the feedback amount and the inverter balance.

      @@dsmnoisemaker101 Thank you very much for your quick and knowledgeable reply! For a long time I noticed the characteristic distortion and compression of the push-pull output stage. I wish the reverb had a shorter tail, more of a room/small space sound to compensate for the lack of mic distance settings. No one's gonna use a longer reverb which they can't switch on and off with remote control. Everything else looks and sounds gorgeous. What a shame about the reverb, though... Please fix that in the DLX mkII version and I'll buy it!
    I wonder... If the reverb side of the device is digital, maybe there will be a way to tweak reverb settings via firmware update? what AD and DA converters are you using for this device? Isn't it all-analog anymore?

    • @dsmhumboldt
      @dsmhumboldt  Год назад +1

      We set up the reverb tail the way it adds ambience yet not invade your tone. DLX has three different types of reverb (ROOM/PLATE/ETHER) and they’re switcheable using the remote control included. Reverb is side chained so it is not “into” the analog signal, no need conversion.

    I appreciate the complex analogue cab sim included, and if I purchase the Simplifier MK2, I'll probably use it most of the time. However, the main reason why I never got the first one, is that there was no option to bypass the cab at all. No matter how good your analogue solution is (and I trust that it is good, it sounds good in the demos), the ability to use impulse responses after the simplifier would make it a lot more flexible in a recording situation.
    Is it possible to bypass the cab on the MK2?

      I think you can bypass the cab sim section in the first version by using the effects loop out, and expect the mkii to do the same

    • @dsmhumboldt
      @dsmhumboldt  Год назад +5

      You can go to iRs from the SEND output and not returning to Stereo CabSims on the SIMPLIFIER (same as is in the Classic version).
      Nevertheless this version includes a CABSIM BYPASS on the RIGHT TRS OUTPUT (that is switcheable).

      @@dsmhumboldt Does doing this bypass both the Power Amp and the Cabsim like the Classic version though? I think what they, and I, would like is an option to output the Preamp+PowerAmp to an IR cabsim. The Power Amp sounds so awesome on this BTW.

    pardon my ignorance. but do I necessarily need to use the outputs in stereo? because in all the videos I watch from the pedal, they always use it like this, via xlr.

    • @dsmhumboldt
      @dsmhumboldt  Год назад +1

      Not necessarily, you can use it mono and the sound quality is same. The good thing about the SIMPLIFIER is that you can run an entire mono signal chain and use it in stereo (if you want to).

      keep all the settings the same: just have a boost or adjust for the preamp gain (I'd hate to have to replace that overdrive with another pedal) then back to clean

      Dependerá de la forma en que lo usas. Hay cosas que el DLX hace que no puedes hacer en el Classic ni en MK-II, por ejemplo el hecho de usar dos amps en paralelo.

    What DSM need to do in MK3 is stick a couple of microtubes or nutubes in the pre and poweramp. Itd be bigger and maybe a little more expensive but itd sound crazy good.

    I bought it. It can get you through a gig in an emergency but isn't as good as some of the new modellers on low gain or, my preferred, just an amp. Let's face it, if the drummer has a regular kit, there's no reason to not play an amp, unless your amp sucks. Anyone who thinks this sounds like an amp needs a better one.

      Daniel was showing the power amp drive distorting at maximum level (mostly of people won’t be using this way tho). It is actually exactly as an actual tube amp clips from the power amp distortion. Many guitarists are not familiar with power amp distortion at all (that requires tons of volume) since many have never played on a real tube amp cranked.
      Nevertheless you can clean it up very well, and use the power amp drive to add that sense of breakup and compression only a tube amp can achieve, but If you don’t like it that way, you can roll down power amp drive and keep it more linear as mostly of amp simulator does nowadays.
      This In-Depth tour doesn’t focus on the typical sounds you can get out of these kind of units since it’s not a demo, it’s more like an explanation of how the interactions works.
      Stay tuned for the sound bites we’ll be posting within this NAMM week.
      Thanks for stopping by and leave a comment!

      @@dsmhumboldt Many thanks for the detailed response, and that extra information. Much appreciated. I mostly play with clean tones with a bit of 'hair' provided by a Klon clone, my favourite tone being Peter Green's on 'Need You Love So Bad', so I'll look out for the future videos!

      I’m curious about this... I think I know what you mean (he does make some mention about being “too shrill”) I guess time, more demos, will tell, plus it’s hard to judge without guitar being in a mix... I’ve heard many demos through tube amps that sound harsh.
      For my part, there’s a demo of a Origin Effects compressor by gearmandude “Origin Effects SLIDE RIG Compact compressor pedal” he’s using telecaster and slide and it sounds great... it would be interesting how close he could get to that going through the Simplifier.
      Also, there’s the classic rock staples such as Felder’s Les Paul on Hotel California, Page’s tele lead on Stairway, and his Les Paul on Since I’ve Been Loving You (the solo). Angus Young’s SG on Thunderstruck, Knopfler’s strat on Sultans of Swing and So Far Away... and, for something a little more obscure, Doyle Bramhall’s strat on Dogs, from Roger Waters’ In The Flesh sounds amazing (I’m sure he has Univibe on certain parts)
      I think these are good tones to emulate and I suspect the MK II could get pretty close.

    Good dynamics, good dynamic frequency response, good compressive technology, good monitoring technology, nice pick up, nice power clipping, good resonance controls, but you gotta attach sensors to it, for much more smoother and effective control, for much more better dynamics. ✌️🫶🤘👍
