As the designer, I'll like to chime in... The reverb is digital, but it is side-chained to the main signal, so no ADC/DAC gets in the way... Also, Channel A has a different clipping character than channel B, with a "cold clipper" stage, this makes it more aggressive and makes pinch harmonics jump out very nicely.
Looks awesome mate - thanks - great to see creative companies producing such handy and high quality products. I can see one of these coming my way at some point, so don't stop!
This is incredible! I bought the original Simplifier on pre-order back in 2019 and it's been the centrepiece of my board since. You've added all of the functionality I thought was missing (and added manually myself): a second preamp to run in parallel and reverb, and you've also added an option I didn't think of: gain levels! Great work!
This thing, the original, and the bass station all sound INCREDIBLE. I don't need all the IRs, software, midi, screens, or any of that stuff - I just need a good fender or vox sound that FEELS good and has the knobs and switches to make adjustments. These things do literally everything that I need. I 100% agree on what they were talking about with the disconnect with digital modeling. I've been using a digital amp sim pedal for all of my live playing for the past 6 months or so, because I got really tired of the issues I was constantly having with tube amps(I will always love the feeling and punch of playing with a tube amp next to me - in my live settings the amps are in iso cabs back stage anyway so I don't even get to fully experience the feeling). Having power issues making amps flubb out all the time, mic issues, sound guys not knowing how to make them sound right, etc. Having a reliable and consistent tone from a digital simulator was a big upgrade for me and made setup so simple every week. BUT - while I can get some really great tone out of it there really is just *"something"* disconnecting me between my playing and my sound. It's definitely something to do with the feel, responsiveness, and texture. So hearing him talk about how this device feels so much better than the other simulators that are digital may just be what sold me on this pedal. Maybe it's the fact that it's analog, who knows, but it sounds amazing and they seem to really enjoy how it feels so I'm sold Edit: I did buy the basic simplifier shortly after writing this. 12 months later of home and stage playing with this on my board, it's been fantastic.
Pretty incredible... I didn’t think I’d seriously consider selling my standard Simplifier but the reverb + dual channel and foot switch alone are probably enough to get me to over the edge...
Well done team DSM Humboldt on some ingenious innovation & to Andertons on a great launch. This little product will make many owners very happy I'm sure! Look forward to learning more... 🤓
Just got one of these and it's awesome. The reverbs alone would cost what this unit is selling for. I nearly blew $1700 on a ox box or something but here is the answer to that. Plug it straight into your Daw for quiet/silent recording. Plug it straight into your amp for "wow, I've now got 3 expensive amps" or leave your heavy amp at home and gig with this on your pedal board. Stunning.
I love seeing more analog "amp modelers" like this and I'm happy some companies are out there to fill that void. As good as the digital stuff is with all the tweaking and tone shaping, sometimes all you need is a simple amp layout with a few useful controls. I think that simplicity really helps to just dial in good tones and bring out creativity. I like seeing two independent channels with multiple voicings and honestly, I wish more pedal-sized amps actually had switches and knobs for their power amp and speaker emulations. That ability to tweak your power amp and speaker emulation are powerful and honestly, if more pedal amps had that, it would be a game-changer since many pedals like this can fail at the good cab emulations. My only concern is if this thing can really handle the high gain for more modern metal tones which didn't get tested from what I could see. Could this thing hold up to high gain tones like a 5150 or a Rectifier or is this just another Heavy Metal/Dad Rock amp?
Holy cats, that thing sounds great. Was thinking about an Iridium, or maybe Torpedo CAB M+, but this will do everything. Well maybe not custom IR's. But a really cool unit, congrats guys. Love the fact that the reverb is side-chained, keeps the analog latency low.

One big thing I notice that they included in the MKII is the Speaker Color cab control knob which changes from Black, Blue, and Green. At the risk of sounding ignorant (I have never done the modeling/IR thing) this pedal does not have the ability to power a speaker cabinet, correct? It's essentially a preamp that still requires a power source for amplification...or am I wrong?
I'm not sure this would be classed as a "modeler" as it is analogue and it does not use IRs either. You are right, it is not an amplifier and so cannot power a speaker. Both this pedal and the amplifier needed to power a speaker would require a power source.

Now just need to design a bunch of servos to automatically twiddle all the knobs and switches into favourite positions otherwise I'll find a great sound and never remember how to get it back...
It kind of reminds me of Blackstar Silver line. Changing Valve response types, Cab Sims. But in a pedal. That is so cool. Can you connect it to monitor speakers?
You should trough an interface or through speakers with jack or xlr inputs, but with that last one you should be careful with the impedance
@@thekramer1097 Thanks for the info Oyarzun. Will look into the impedance 👍🏼
@@Mr-Safology I also remembered you can use the headphone out to conect to speakers lol. Thats's like the easiest way. I have the simplifier (the normal version) and I use it that way sometimes
Notice when they are in parallel mode the jacks on the right side aren't plugged in all the way!
This unit can be plugged into a FRFR speaker?
6:34 WUUAAAA!!!
QUICK! Someone get a "Gregory Kochery Jiggery Pokery" made!
Lee: "as you can see I've kinda done a bit of a smiley face EQ"
Pete: :D
Does this need to be run into an FRFR cab/speaker or can you run this into an amp like an AC30 no problems?
Huge fan, constructive criticism, please can you also demo things like the aux in and headphones 😊
okkkk....to my ears this sounds better than the original Simplifier? Interesting.
Upgraded in every sense!
I absolutely have the same feelings from all the demoes I heard and now I get really interested. Seems way more "fuller" sounding with more body.
I LOVE my Simplifier!
I plan on upgrading my Simplifier to the DLX but I do wish the footswitches were attached to the main unit.
Clean setting sound very good
The Greer Lightspeed is the greatest OD I have ever used (And I have a gold Klon) buy one, you'll thank me!
I really want one of these....BUT.... why not put a spring reverb sound in its reverb bank? If it's to be a replacement for an actual amp then i'd personally want that drippy reverb from a spring.
6:30 “For sale. Used. Dropped once.”
11:05 “dropped twice”
How well would/could either change handle a bass? I was considering getting both the Bass station and the regular Simplifier to run each side of a Chapman Stick through but it’s tempting to just get this
I think I'm in love. I want one.
Is it possible to switch off or bypass the cab sims but use everything eelse ?
Man, this thing sounds amazing!!! Wish you could safe presets (only the "saving proces" digital ...the sounds of course analouque)
Great review. Can you run a cab with it!? I mean, would this replace a head?
As it has two 0 Watt channels and already emulates cabs - why should you even consider it as a head replacement?
@@Fastvoice Size, weight, convenience, price, and flexibility would be a few good reasons. I was wondering exactly the same thing as Wolfgang Messer!
Sounds so good!!!
@@asw7696 so could I use it in front of a regular combo amp and just set the eq flat for instance?
@@south_of_nowhere Yes, or you could plug it into the effects return of the combo to bypass the tone controls (if it has an effects loop). I'm considering buying one myself to plug straight into PA system for gigs and for home practice plugged into studio monitors. I have a Line 6 HX Stomp which is a digital modeller and can do most, if not all this can do. But there's something about analogue gear and the immediacy of use that appeals to me. Also, it sounds great!
Great done - Greetings from Germany
