It is SO NOT FAIR that Nathan is a better bass player than most bass players and he plays guitar. Those KING genes are unstoppable.
I'm no bass player but it's always good to watch Nathan because he's so damn good and enthusiastic.
14:43 The parallel LPF is a low pass filter that affects only the parallel channel. It would have affected the sound if the preamp blend knob had been set all the way to the left or blended between the parallel and preamp sounds and the 1/4" output was going to an amp. Also the benefit of having two effects loops is that you can run a compressor on your parallel channel and have a clean compressed signal that then blends with whatever effects you throw at your preamp fx loop (drive, fuzz, etc). You also have the ability to put the parallel LPF on so that you're only blending in a clean low end signal with everything above 500hz or 100hz rolled off so that it blends with drives and distortions better.
Yes, it’s a really cool feature and would probably convince more people to buy it!!!
Yeah, what he said! This comment is honestly more informative than the video. I love Nathan but he’s obviously just being paid to show up and do a plug and play demo more than an in depth review based on real world experience.
Phase issues with every OD and fuzz I tried prevented me from using it for that purpose live.
Thanks !
"If I had something on me that was tiny"; Pete chuckles uncontrollably!
"If I had something on me that was tiny in comparison, I'd show you...but I don't. Everything I got is enormous." 🤣🤣🤣
Great video!
I think I just found my new preamp. It has the perfect features for my use. The analog cabsim is amazing.
This pedal also has an incredible gain section that truly is a great recreation of vintage ampeg tones. I'm surprised Nathan didn't increase the gain to get some dirt going. The beauty is that you can go for high gain modern rock sounds or create really fat old school motown tube vibes by tweaking the gain, sculpting the eq, and adjusting the cab sim sections. It's a truly versatile pedal.
There are already demos of the simplifier producing chunky and aggressive tones. This demo has convinced me of its warmer capabilities.
Nice to know you can get some dirt on there. I was looking at the Darkglass Vintage Ultra because I wanted the option of both dirty and clean. But this is significantly cheaper and has more other features built in.
I've heard him say in other demos something like, "We can take the gain down to get something clean and actually useable"... so I'm guessing he's not a big 'dirt-on-bass' guy. Shame, because, as many of us know, in a mix, it can be glorious!
@@garystackhouse5787m
I agree... too many vids like this use muted or distorted sounds and we can't here the unit really sounds as in solid fundamentals and over tones.... @@nicbrownable
I always get a kick outta Nathan's playing. Loved it when he put on his glasses--he's human after all!
finally some real bass instead a distortion demo. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!
Took me 2 years to find this no distortion demo. I can finally rest.
Yep, saw one with distorted slap bass, why? Maybe they want to put them out of business🤷♂️.
Another great review Nathan! Always down to earth and to the point, and of course, great bass skills, vibe and groove as always!
Great Bass playing man, proper!!
Thanks for tuning in John!
Oh what a pretty bass line! Very slick indeed. Good to see the 1962 Jazz Bass with concentric knob layout.
Most unexpected and most awesome opening jam EVER! WELL DONE MATE!
Great demo Nathan !!,you are really getting the hang of this solo presentation thing !
Just playing on repeat that first minute, that was great!
Ain't No Stopping Us Now, disco era tune by McFadden and Whitehead. dig that kids.
Wow, that intro was fantastic. I was 20 all over again! Fantastic playing man.
Fantastic demo and cover of Ain't No Stopping Us Now-a classic !!!
LOL I'm more in love with that MIJ Jazz Bass than the box LOL...though I have to admit it does sound pretty good too. Good job again Nathan! - killer chops!!
Love the backing tracks Nathan picks. Funky soul groove man!
You had me at Ab. Seriously good playing and demo. Thanks guys!
Crazy playing! Sounds awesome.
Well played and demonstrated. Great to hear
Nathan, GREAT playing
Great playing! Amazing tone.
Fantastic opening groove, sir!
Isn't/wasn't disco a bass players dream? Super playing and demo 👍
Good playing in the intro!
Great video, great device. I'll look into getting it.
Grabbing the glasses.. I relate man.. I relate. Sweet tones....
Another intro track banger!!! Cheers from Bristol 🍻🏴
Great playing! Caught the Level 42 show in Los Angeles in 2010, Nathan
was awesome! His playing definitely runs in the family...get it, Running in the family. OK, I'll stop.
I love this guy's playing. Try pickin' that pocket. Nice!
Nathan is a riot... He should be doing all product review vids. Cherrs.
That intro jam tho!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
enjoyed it thoroughly
"If I had something on me that was tiny, in comparison, I'd show you, but I don't." Stop bragging...😁
Love watching him fiddle with things. Always entertaining!
Brilliant review 👌🏿I'm getting one of these fingers crossed 🤞🏿
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
Dude that intro grooves super hard. I can’t get to the rest of the video because i keep hitting the back button
oh no not the Andertons Effect, I'm just about to buy this! hahaha.
Nathan could sell an empty ABY box with his playing!!
Seriously, we should have monthly jam sessions with the ANDERTONES. The captain, Pete, Nathan and ( I don't know who specializes in drums at Andertons) each highlighting a piece of gear and just jamming. Show us how each instrument is able to work and sit in a live mix.
YES!
Crisht on a Bike that was some groovy disco at the begining. Amazing sound as well.
There's always time for a bit of Disco on Friday's All About The Bass!
What was the name of that song?? It’s irritatingly familiar
@@justie1220, Ain't no stopping us now
@@karinvunderink7373 I have always loved that bassline!
It also has 2 fx loops I see,... HERE I COME POVERTY, HERE I COME!
This is what I need. All analog cabsim and preamp that nails the ampeg tone with no digital coldness. I have a NUX MLD preamp and while it's amazing for the money, the drive section is a bit flat sounding, a touch sterile. Analog is superior for drive, whether it be tubes or solid state.
I have that pre amp and I think that drive is fantastic. When you're talking sound it's so subjective
That unit is making you sound very much like Weather Report.
Ok now I know the price of this simplifier, now how much for your bass skills man!??? Really smooth intro, great groove!!! 👍👍👍👍
I came here thinking this was the Guitar version of that pedal, but stayed for the great intro jam
should have tried the 8x10 with full resonance...great to demolish walls..maybe they did not for safety reasons...
The creator just says to
Came here to watch the demo, kept replaying the intro jam!
This Preamp is very tempting!! 👌🏿
Not a bass player but your good ,keep hitting it
Compare to sansamp 21 i have ..This a great pedal with better options or let s say different soundding.
"...enormous."
Nice unit. So, it has a pre and cab sim... What about power amp sim?
Wow I got a Darkglass MXU for no reason when I can just get have gotten this, put my rat into the loop and would have been better than what I’m doing now
nice but how do you get the sound ? direct to speaker, mixer, interface ?
Heard a lot about these but are they any better than the SansAmps?
Does the 1/4" amp out affect the amp tone? Or is it just a parallel dry signal?
Can I use this as a pre amp and plug it into my amp?
twist the buttons and press the knobs. You know, like Lee does...
LOLZ!!!!!!!
Anyone know how this compares to a Tech 21 Sansamp VT Bass DI? Seems like very similar functions
With all the goodness in that little package I'm bummed with the cabinet choices. Should also have a 2x15 ported, 4x12 stack & a 118FH for my needs. Surely they could have fit that into just a wee bit bigger box.
He is Nathan King, brother of Mark King! 🤗
He sure is!
And a very nice chap he is too!
Actually, I reckon he’s the lost child of Nathan East and Mark King. Clues in the name, dead giveaway...
How does this compare with the ashdown ant?
Does anybody know if the thru/output is affected by cab sim? Or just the DI out
It's almost as if they have made it too small. But i guess it probably fine as a set and forget box.
You need a small rig thing to offset that colossal pp energy
4 strings - big PP LOL
Good Greif...we are Bassists. This thing is WAY too small, I'm going for the ebs micro bass - because this is too small for me to read or get my (big double bass) fingers in. I have enough issues with my phone.
I love Nathan and his playing but wish he would read the instruction manual and become more familiar with the product before filming. ;)
What happened to Lee the bass guy?
Best wishes from across the pond!
Brent
It looked bigger in the pictures - I call that the Big Mac effect. That also looks much bigger in the pictures.
Anyone know what song or track this is?
Nice and informative video as always! I'd be interested about your opinion on the Electro Harmonix Battalion preamp/DI. Should be interesting to see a pedal from a different price point.
Keep up the good work, greetings from Hungary!
Can you run out of this into a powered speaker ? I want to skip the color of a bass amp.
Yes or run through your amp's effects loop to bypass the preamp on the amp.
fully parametric would have a Q setting.
1:27 That's what she said!!!
What is the name of the song?
Plays funk/disco. Plays Frost*.
Nathan rules.
I mean, that's not strictly what a fully-parametric eq is... :P
300 quid? That's a bit fancy.
Anyone know the bass??
is this thing also a DI or just a preamp?
Di
What is the bass model fender ? Jazz ? Made in ?
Japan
@@MrClassicmetal Thanks a lot
Your Playing is the best I heard in my all life fro this song, I love it from many years, You played it better that the original, God Bless & stay safe
@@amrsalahmahmoud3034 Yeah, I've watched the intro of this clip many times myself.😁
@@MrClassicmetal you are the MAN
🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🏽🔥
Im no fanboy, but just get a tc electronic spectradrive, half the price, a sixteenth of the faff. The user interface for that much diversity on this level of preamp is too small. Nathan alluded to that i think. That said, it does a lot, but again, too much stuffed into a matchbox?
I generally like small equipment. But this looks too small to accommodate these controls.
It is really pushing it as far as what is stuffed into such a small box, but it comfortably fits into the storage compartment of my bass case with power adapter, unlike sansamp sized boxes.
Testing a mic position and cab simulator through a real mic and cab. Great...
He informed the viewers that the amp beside of him is off and the Simplifier is going direct into the daw.
Where’s the other guy. Did he get fired
Ain't no stoppin' me now. Except $300, or so.
Good bass player and very enthusiastic, but reading the manual before hosting a product review goes a long way toward avoid mistakes, fumbling around or sharing blatantly wrong info.
Mas quem lê manual hoje em dia?!
@@lbass7474 Even more important it is then for someone showcasing a product to read the manual before shooting the video.
Limited edition MIJ Jazz bass is far more interesting.
If it only was stereo...
first
Ya know... if you guys heart reacted and commented on "negative" comments it might actually be seen a trustworthy and a reason to buy from you 🤷♂️
lol
"Simplifier" is a great word for marketing purposes, but it has 0 basis in "reality". I'm not knocking the product, it sounds nice, however there is no simplification here for most "if" anyone. Believe this folks, when it comes to great bass tone, less is more.
It's always the same. They are trying to sell you stuff.
They are a music store. That's is literally their job.
Why don't they say at the beginning of their videos, "We think it is our duty to tell you up front, we are primarily interested in getting you to buy these items from Andertons, and otherwise we would not be using the time, money, and energy to make these videos."? Ha! What you guys are saying is that since Andertons is a business that sells things, it is Lee Anderton's duty to deceive people by gushing over the various products he promotes, when in actual fact, he primarily wants to sell them. If in each video he admitted the truth, he wouldn't seem like such a good guy, right? Ha! You have been brainwashed since birth by society, to think it is good for salespeople to use any and every tactic, to propagandize potential customers. No matter what, fundamentally, these videos are intended to deceive. This is all obvious. Ha! Tell me when Lee has a video about something that Andertons doesn't sell. Ha! (Of course, as in this video, it is not only Lee who does the promoting, his employees and collaborators do it too.)
brother, in which world do you live, you seem confused lol
@@fellazuab Is your IQ over 90? Let's test, Fella Azua. Tell me the 5th root of 243. Take your time. Ha!
@@danbaron2561 come on how old are you? 13 maybe 14 or maybe doing Maths GCSE? Asking questions like that on a video about bass equipment - just don't be a knob trying to prove how clever you are, when it does not dawn on you that a music instrument retailer which has been established for many years uses social media to advertise their latest products. Oh by the way the answer you are looking for is 3.
I like that dude. He jams.
