Being analog doesn’t hurt, but the real selling point for me was always that the Simplifier had amp sim, DI, and headphone all in one SMALL box. As well as a loop to insert effects between the amp sim and the DI. With other solutions, I might have to have two or three devices for all of that or one bigger device. It truly is a simplifier.

Here's the analog thing again, but very cool I love pedals! And people on the constant notion that tube amps and everything "non- digital" is going extinct very soon..., may hold true. Yet more and more players use digital gear, sims, fx processors etc. etc. to get the sound of non-digital gear. This is all very 80's Lazer Disc to me all over again.-30 years later vinyl comes back with a vengeance. Head, cabs, stomp box pedal boards, don't get rid of them people, cuz they'll all be back! Andertons has consistently had the best demos of all the DSM & Humboldt Electronics products. The new Simplifier sounds fantastic, and I will definitely be upgrading from my original Simplifier. If the MKII didn't exist, I wouldn't have thought anything was missing from the original, other than not being able to defeat the cabsim on the 1/4" outputs (I don't need built-in reverb, even if it's a decent one), but now that I've watched the Andertons and maker's demos, it's clear to me that the MKII will likely serve my purposes a little better, even though I do actually prefer the lower gain range on all amps.

I was very interested in hearing the different speaker simulations and how they effected the overall sound, but every time you changed the speaker selection you also changed everything else, so how am I supposed to hear what affect it's having? In future could you flick through the speaker options without changing anything else so we can actually hear the difference?

As a user of the v1 I can say that the placement of the headphone out is way better on v2 (and also the Simplifier DLX). I had it at the end of a pedaltrain nano+ with the DI outputs facing out, but that meant that the headphone out had a pedal next to it, so I had to pick it off the board and angle it to get a headphone cable in for silent practise.

Danish Pete ripped, as usual. Nice job! I never heard of DSM and Humboldt until today. That was an outstanding tone! You can get outstanding tone from any button on the box or your guitar. It would be great in a PA, a line for your computer, or an amp. Tone is king, it will always be. Digital boxes are getting great tones, too. The digital things that I don't like, or buy and don't play anymore, are having to change 20 parameters to get the tone you like, and the tone changes with different things like DI, amp types, etc. The Simplifier is old school with a little tweak on the box. I'm an aging guitar player and would advise young players to get this Simplifier Mark II.

LOL I'm so happy that it's called a Simplifier. That makes is all easy!

These are really nifty for people that already have one decent tube amp. And maybe have a pair of active monitors in their studio. You can turn it into a wet/dry/wet rig without having to buy three big amps. With the tube amp in the centre for the dry tone. you can split off a tap after the comp/wah/boost/drive from a switcher pedal like the Lehle, Palmer or those handmade in UK splittters with the phase switch and isolated out. Run the fx send of the DSM out to your stereo effects, then back and you have a good WDW rig and with balanced outs to the active monitors for a nice clean noise free stereo wet sound. And without the latency headaches you'd get from a modelling pedal, or two modelling amps. But still with the flexibility to match your wet tone to your dry amp (if a classic Fender/Marshall/Vox style). Or, to use different styles for the stereo wet pair. Vox type tones sound particularly nice with stereo digital delays and reverbs. For people that don't have spare active monitors, the Thermion Zero is a great option. Would just need to buy/build two small cheap cabs, 8 or 10" would probably be fine. But you get a lovely three option stereo reverb into the bargain. For cheaper, wet-dry, the Hughes and Kettner Stompman is a good option. Though I think the DSM and Thermion sound a bit better, though only based on online demos.

13:50 woah! Nice! I recall the black one had inputs for stereo effects; that seems to me to be where these pedals tend to full short. If they bring out a version that can take stereo effects may I humbly suggest you demo it with the ventilator rotary pedal, should sound amazing!

In the comparison section, the onscreen arrows don’t always match and they change at the wrong times.

Good to hear about the feel of this Simplifier. That’s that part I have trouble with most digital amp sims. That all sound great but the feel is a bit removed.

I've owned the OG Simplifier and the DLX and they're great. I'd love to see a dedicated metal or high gain only version of the mk2.

Yeah, the demos didn't really impress me and pretty much all the cool features on the Simplifier and the DLX are absent.

To me, with tube amps, there is a certain sound you can actually feel going into a tube amp driving a speaker cab. You can sense the air being pushed and smell the tubes heating up. To me, you can naver get that regardless of how much dsp a unit has...but as far as sounding good or similar, amp modelers and irs sound just as great, if not better if you really sit with it and dial it in. Also, at some point today, the signal is gonna be digitally processed at some point unless you're strictly a bedroom player
