Sagrada Familia
The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família,[a] otherwise known as Sagrada Família, is a church under construction in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world. Designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926), in 2005 his work on Sagrada Família was added to an existing (1984) UNESCO World Heritage Site, "Works of Antoni Gaudí". On 7 November 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the church and proclaimed it a minor basilica.

Finally some interiors! Looking at these buildings only from the outside it’s like having a nice treasure chest and never open it.
LOL 🙂
Fun fact: the Cathedral of Málaga, officially called "Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación", is a Renaissance church featuring Baroque influences. Construction started in the 16th century, but the cathedral remains incomplete. This is because the funds designated for the construction of the south tower were redirected to support the independence of the 13 colonies (the future United States) from Great Britain. As a result, it is popularly known as "La Manquita" (the one-armed lady).
WOW! Thanks! 🙂
about the star in the cathedral rossette, they are quite common in mediterranean churches, David's star comes later, this is a solomon's seal, we are not quite sure why they used it but we have theories, in the time period we know it was seen as a talisman of protection, so you know to protect the entrance of the temple of God etc., christians do believe in the old testament too so is not that crazy, but we know many of the artisans that made this rossettes were jewish people whom converted to christianism and had a lot of influence and money, so they just probably put it there as a show of power
I see. Thank you!
In Spain there was a civil war and several bombs fell on the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pilar in Zaragoza. the Virgin is credited with the miracle that they did not explode.
The Virgin was also very important in the war of independence against Napoleon and there is even a very famous song in Spain that says the verse “La virgen del Pilar says that she does not want to be French, she wants to be captain of the Aragonese troops.
Thank you for the information!
Thanks for commenting and checking out my videos!
U may also react to The Palacio's Real and El Escorial Monastery interiors, they are just amazing
Hola amigo, thanks for your reactions. Jesús was jew from the lineage of David thats why you can find David's Stars in Catholic churches
Thank you!
I think Madrid's cathedral is quite beautiful and elegant, but I wouldn't place it among the top seven in Spain. Of course, Zaragoza's El Pilar wouldn't make the list either. And surely the best one, Toledo, isn't on the list. By the way, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is not a cathedral.
I am from Madrid and I think the catedral of Madrid is the whorse of Spain. Good video.
Muy buen video. Un saludo desde Asturias
Howdy from America! Thanks!
Catedrales de Toledo, León, Burgos , impresionantes.
Very nice video, I told u, the Spanish Cathedrals' interiors are astonishing🇪🇦❤️
Thanks! More to come...
Thank you for letting us know!
In Spain, have 88 catedrals.
about the Burgos Cathedral:
hat part of the cathedral is dedicated to Mary, with her Jewish origins, represented in the stained glass by the Star of David.
Makes sense to me!
Hello, I recommend that you watch the movie THE WAY starring Martin Sheen, which talks about the Camino de Santiago and you will be able to see that imposing church through a walker like Martin Sheen, an excellent actor who you must surely know very well.
You can’t compares between different Art Styles, Romanic, Gothic, Neoclassical, Barrocco and finally Modernism. The formation in Art , USA is very deficient or not exist. We’re 2nd Human Patrimony, and know separate. Like a mathematical problem , never mixed pears with octopus. Since a city more than 2.000 years old, Heritage’s Patrimony, have a good weekend. NW Spain, Galicia , UE.
i love your videos
@roberbonastre3380 - Well thank you. Very kind.
I'm from Barcelona and nothing compares to the Sagrada Familia. The colums are trees, when the light enters into the windows all the church mix with a lot of different colors. Gaudi is a genius, you understand it when you enter in the sagrada familia. He has a lot of buildings in the city but this basilica is in another level. The colums you are talking about are 140...years old. It will be the highest church in the world.
@@rafaelacevedo5605 no has entrado.
If you are interested in interesting interiors of churches/cathedrals, it might be worth checking out the Sedlec Ossuary. Its in the Czech Republic, and the entire interior decoration was made using real human bones. Its somewhat on the morbid side, but it's worth checking out. I know you like the big impressive symmetric ones, but it's just something a little different. I'll try to think of some interesting buildings to check out that don't lie in the countries you intend to visit so you don't miss out on them completely. If you get back to checking out castles, I really really recommend looking at Romanian castles. Judging by your videos, I really think they have the kind of castles you would really like.
Oh my. Thanks!
In theory the Sagrada Familia will be finished in the next 2 to 3 years.
In theory...
Stendhal moment
'Spain's history dates all the way back to Roman times' It's really offputting when just the first sentence is plain wrong.
Americans watching endless videos of places in Europe is it like the fella who wants to buy a jacket and watches dozens of reviews before? 😁 Man, stop watching videos and take a plane, we're in 2024.
Uh? Not everybody has the money to travel to the other part of the world.
@neiss2 - LOL!
@Ilar-en7lg - or the time...
@@Average_Middle_Aged_American Well yes, or both.
