Its 2 in the morning, but sleep must be sacrificed for reptiles.
wildnightmare1881 lol ya
yep its almost 3 for me haha
I think the hardest thing with snakes is that other people (not yourself, but the people around you, be it friends, family, or others) tend to have an aversion to them, so convincing your friend to come over to the house or convincing your mom that it will be totally harmless might be difficult (even though a snake wouldn't do anything to them...its just a noodle). Sometimes it can be really hard to educate them and help them overcome that fear.
But anyways, great video overall! Personally, I don't think I could choose one over the other, they both have their unique differences and also similarities!
The Turtle Girl Yeah, I have a beardy and was trying to get a ball python but my parents wouldn't allow it so instead I will be getting a blue tongue skink soon.
Exactly my bearded dragon literally ate mouse and a baby bird but when I brought a baby garter snake inside they said they don't want that he'll creature inside
The Turtle Girl my friends and family are fine with lizards and snakes unless it’s something like a Burmese python lol it’s a totally different matter when it comes to my pet tarantulas they freak them out
I really agree with you i always got complains from my parents saying that my snake is hungry when hes just basking) and hes venomous (i have a ball python)
MonsterLord Games I can’t choose between a bearded dragon or a snake that’s my problem. But it will probably be a bearded dragon because my parents think snakes are monsters.
The worst thing about owning a snake is the fact that many people are uneducated about them
Most people don’t fuck w snakes
For example: “ Hey I just got a royal python (ball python) :D.” “ HEcK Waht wiLL yoO dU wEn it Gets 30 fEEt lOng?”
"...bro this python only grows 4-5ft long depending on the sex." "ArEn't yUu ScAreD if iT gOn eaT Yu tHO"
@@keawie my parents Say this exactly
As a person who knows and cares for snakes it makes me cringe every time I fukin hear “it will eat you”
Most snakes have easier care, while lizards are more personable.
Problably true but I’ve had one lizard and it was a bitch fast as hell an scared of everything my snakes on the other hand very calm and a couple seem very personable but most lizards seem a lot more reasonable then mine was
@@nathanhill6042 maybe you were just a horrible owner 😊
@@JollyPlayzor maybe it was just a skittish lizard
The worst part of having snakes.......... is when your friend doesn't like snakes, and you only see them like once a week, and then they become obsessed with snakes and they get their own then come to your house every single day to play with your snake.
*come to your house every single day to play with your snake.*
lol sounds very personal but hillarious good luck :) :) .
I resemble that
my mom is finally letting me get a reptile and I couldn’t decide if I wanted a snake or lizard so bless this video for showing up :0
kol beb
What did you end up getting??
keely what did you get?
I can't decide :--:
I like lizards they seem to have easier care and seek to actually bond
Very interesting and informative video. My 14 year old grandson wants a lizard but as he and I have researched this, he now is thinking he might prefer a snake. I will forward this on to him because he is in the process of educating himself on all it takes to give a lizard or a snake a quality life. He will have total responsibility for the lizard or snake including expenses which his allowance will have to cover. The only expense his parents will help with is the unexpected like a trip to the vet and I will buy him the lizard or snake and everything he will need for the set up to home his pet. He and I have had fun studying all he needs to know to be a good lizard or snake owner. Thanks Alex for another fine video.
I told myself no more new pets for the rest of 2017......I just put a deposit on a caulker cay dwarf boa and I hate myself
maddiemainer .....I'm in the same boat.
maddiemainer lol I can relate. Last year I told myself I wouldn't get any pets that would be too time consuming or expensive. Well, I have a kitten and now I'm getting a corn snake.
MoPro Uploads me too! I got a Butter Motley and I named it noodle.
The Deamon aww!! I'm planning on getting a Miami phase and naming it Corinne
Same here with a bluey on the way 😜
I feel like Franklin is super personable, like he always wants to say hello! So freaking cute

Also, snakes can pick up vibrations so they basically "feel" sound like some of you metioned, instead of hearing it since they're ear-less
GoHerping if you wanted to buy a snake online what are the best but CHEAPEST sites or programs
Generally generally generally
More like neck and no neck
Arizona Vivariums *neck and only necl
Eyelid and no eyelid
Legs and no legs
Also, another factor to consider, is that if you rent, there's a bigger stigma against snakes than lizards. People be afraid of snakes, even if they're not dangerous. A lot of places I've checked out don't say anything when I say I have a lizard, but when I say "reptile" the most often response I get is, "Is it a snake? Because we don't allow snakes" and sometimes they mention tarantulas as well even though they're not reptiles.
Both are so perfect! I adore both 💕
I prefer frogs, but snakes and lizards are cool to! Love your channel btw :D
All these people like "my mom won't let me have a snake", meanwhile, I'm 22, an adult ass person, but my roommate won't let me have a snake so I still relate to all these kids
I personally like lizards over snakes, I think it’s a personal preference, each to their own.
Dark-Stormy- Sky I agree. Me, I'm more of a snake person 😛
I been watching this guy videos for about an 1 year and like 8 months he always provides the right information
Who's this General Lee you keep talking about?
To be honest, snakes don't really seem to show love but certainly they can't be selfish to think about comfort and warmth only. Snakes can grow a real bond with their owners but can't really show love back with the way their body structure and face is made. It's probably more opinion but I'm certain that the only thing running through their brain isn't just comfort, warmth and food.
You know, that snakes aren't deaf right?
Their ears are just covered, kinda like when you put your hands on your ears, but they still can hear you, maybe not so good, but still
Yeah I believe older Alex knows that already. But yeah. They can indeed hear
me explaining to my mom that ball pythons are noodles that move:
my mom: "i DoNT WaNt ThaT tHinG To biTe Me
Relatable. My dad hate snakes because he thinks they're dangerous and will kill you. Lol he thinks that anyone who owns them is irresponsible and stupid. It's so hard to even try and educate those people who think snakes are super harmful
In my experience I agree snakes are way more easier to care for in general. Even handling and taming them is simple, both my ball pythons were tame from the get go really. Lizards require a lot more time, especially bigger species like beardies or BTS. My beardie has been a pain in the ass for the past 2 months to tame, biting me and running away but she's getting there and she's a sweetheart now, she just likes to jump from one hand to another like a crested gecko lmao. My leopard gecko was pretty simple to tame as well, she was just a little fast and ran a lot so needed to adjust to handling. She tamed down surprisingly quickly.
I also love both and have both, but for me, what makes snakes a bit higher on the list is diet. Keeping bugs alive is basically another pet and prepping salads can also add up quickly depending on the lizard. And bugs. While they don't bother me when I have to handle them, I do constantly worry about them getting loose in my house. Frozen rodents every few weeks will always be better in my eyes.
Even if my BP couldn't care less about me, I love her regardless, and I can tell she enjoys handling time
So my mom was right, snakes have no hearts... I have one tho, wait, snakes are DEAF??!! And I was always quiet for her ☹️
They may not have ears, but can pick vibrations up very well, so being loud is definitely noticeable, and can disturb em. Although I don't believe they can feel love or hate, they can feel content and satisfied. i.e. a nice warm spot in your lap could keep them feeling safe
GoHerping thanks! I love your channel and I even started my own! I have a enchi female ball python and she just finished shedding and she looks AWESOME . Love your videos
@@GoHerping Snakes do have ears, they are just on the inside of their head covered by skin, so they can hear just not well.
its everyday bro with the lizard feeding flow...
Alex Po lizards metabolisms are designed for them to eat and process food everyday mine gets fed 3 times a week and it’s doing great
thats nice

Your videos are really helpful and unbiased to anyone who needs information before adopting a reptile. I have both a Beardie and a Kingsnake and I love their differences. My 8 year old Beardie Jasper has a very hard time when we go on vacation even though he gets great care it's obvious to everyone he prefers me to care for him. He generally mopes and doesn't eat much till I get home. My Kingsnake Nessie on the other hand is a breeze even though he enjoys his time out everyday free roaming on my desk and I believe we have a bond to the point that he chooses my lap over his heat pad when out of his enclosure he's super chill when we're away. His care at least for me is way cheaper as well. For me I really enjoy having both. I would suggest a snake for a younger person.
Bro your my new favourite youtuber now and you just got a new sub
Blue tounge skinks are the best reptile IN MY OPINION
That gecko 2:46 :)
Hi again
It has been 2 weeks since I got my boa constrictor Mr.Bean he has eaten and he’s just the tamest snake I have ever seen but now he’s slower in movements, I can take him out sometimes and all he does is look around and then just go to sleep on my hands, what does it mean?
proster bessari he is probably going through burmaton
They just get slower and stuff it's not bad all reptiles and I think amphibians go through it toi
Did he just eat? Almost all snakes are just slow moving then they bounce back after 1-3 days. My snake just stays in his hide for 2 days straight then right the next day hes back to exploring
Frogs are obviously the best pets ;)
It's getting colder I own a crested gecko should I use a heat lamp or a heat pad?
jia jia summer I also have a crested gecko. I use a ceramic heat lamp connected to a thermostat. Set the thermostat to 23°C at day and 20°C at night do not use a heat mat as crested geckos don't like being on the ground anyway. Hope this helped
:)
Wtf it's 2 am
Hugo's Reptile Dream it’s 4:18 head in Tokyo Japan!
My goal was to get this up by midnight, but nope
GoHerping are you thinking of breeding your ball python with another ones like Ethans or anyone elses?
I enjoyed this video. Generally speaking.
What kind of snake is Goldie?
Jenin. A four legged ground boa.
Jenin. What
Leopard gecko
Gaming.Gecko /r/whooosh
Leopard gecko
I don't have a lighting system for my ball python but she is positioned near a window so that she gets some nice natural light
I've owned 2 lizards anole and leopard gecko I gave them both a good amount of attention and they were both healthy but honestly overall I kind of think that lizards are sorted better because crickets don't really cost that much neither do mealworms
Snakes are hard to convince ur
mom or dad to get one so are lizards but lizards are a bit easier though
Snakes are NOT actually deaf! They don't have visible ears nor the ear drums but they can hear with their jaws O.o Here is a link to a study about Royal Pythons hearing capabilities: jeb.biologists.org/content/215/2/ii
I have a leopard gecko and a Sinaloan milk snake I’d recommend both to anyone that wants a reptile they’re both super chill and super pretty and easy to care for if you’re not a bum, in that case don’t get any animals just take care of yourself
Saw you over on Roberto Blake's channel, you've got an awesome channel yourself! Keep grinding!
Noodles for life!
I prefer snakes tho
If you get a bearded dragon, they usually won’t poop in the enclosure. Some do poop inside the enclosure, but many of them only poops when they are taken out.
*I want ALL OF THEM*
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a video about your turtle. Maybe a res care vid? or a turtle supplies? i need somethingggggg
I own a crested gecko and it's starting to get cold out. Should I get a heat mat?
Josue Razo i don’t recommend it because created geckos are usually off of the ground anyway. you can purchase a very small cheap heater for your room. i got mine at walmart :)
crested gecko*
Thanks
Josue Razo I also have a crested gecko. I use a ceramic heat lamp connected to a thermostat. Set the thermostat to 23°C at day and 20°C at night do not use a heat mat as crested geckos don't like being on the ground anyway. Hope this helped

Your a really good youtuber
thank you :D
If I would keep a ball python in my closet (don't worry, it's big), would I like leave the light on during the day? The windows are on the opposite side of the room so there isn't much sunlight..... should I just put like a desk-lamp type thing in the closet with it?
If you ask me, ball pythons should have light of some sort, whether it's ambient or whatever, so they know when it's daytime. As long as heating is correct the type of lighting doesn't matter. But they do appear to benefit from UVB!
I loved the video! But one thing I would of mentioned is that lizards N O R M A L L Y are easier to feed then snakes, because some people may not like feed rodents, yes there is some snakes that can eat fish and worms but most eat rodents. Another thing is that some snakes are picky, and only want live or pre-kill, maybe some need to feed inside there enclosure, maybe some need to be feed outside there enclosure, Also snakes get stressed very easily (for example the ball python), if you handle a ball python too much, it might get stressed and go on a food strike, not only is this stressful for the snake, it also stressful for the owners. But overall I still agree that snakes are easier then lizards, but that is just my opinion.
I really want a ball python, and I am totally okay with feeding frozen. I’ve done it before. I’m just terrified that it’s going to want live all of a sudden lol
Love your leopard gecko!
Would you ever make a snake tub vs snake terrarium video?
My lizard doesnt move, he just kinda sits under his heat lamp, but then again, he's an old beardie
Question- I have a corn snake who is a few months old, and I feed him one pinkie mouse about every 6 days, should I be feeding him more? Thank you
Donna Doddridge there are some good charts out there on the internet going based on weight and age of corn snakes, if you watch the SnakeBytes episode called “corn snake eats a baby pig” it’s actually just a care video that will t lol you where to find the charts. Kind of long video but very informative
I have 3 leopard geckos and one albino king snake
I mean a snake might not have the best sense of hearing but they can still hear also they can judge the way you smell with their tongues
I should be studying for my history test tomorrow but here I am learning about ball pythons so I can buy one
I need a danger noodle. I already have my pancake 💙
Awww
Hi, I was wandering if there are any legal places in Brazil where I could get a ball python or corn snake because all the places I found were illegal.
I love the snake on the right
I love both ❤
Ok but my kids are 5 and 7. Will the snake bite them?? Serious question!
2am upload wow Alex that’s a new low even for you
Snakes aren’t completely deaf, but, they can’t hear most human voices because of the frequency. Lizards can hear and recognize human voices.
Alex can a adult blue tonged skink go in 35 gallon tank I know he best is a 40 but can you go in a 35 gallon tank. Will they die.
Did you ever think about getting a crestie?
If not please considerate they make awsome pets.
GoHerping, I don't know if you will actually see this comment, but I have a question that I have been unable to get answered. You see, where I live (Sweden) it is basically a no-no, a taboo, to handle reptiles at all, but I frequently see people handling the animals without any problem. I want a reptile that is kind of calm and can be handled since I am planning on having it as an emotional support animal for my disorders, one of them being "mild" autism.
What could you recommend, and how much can you actually handle a reptile?
I'd recommend a beardie if you want constant handling. Though it depends on the individual, my juvenile loves being handled sometimes i handle her for 5 hours maybe 10 and shes always out on some days and others shes basking and getting plenty of good uvb. In general you can handle a reptile a lot depending on the individual. I have a blue tongue skink that doesn't like handling but is okay with it, and then i have a female adult beardie that rather be left alone.
Britney-Lee Dreydel let me help you. A ball python is great they are calm and when you get it just let it settle in for a couple of days and then you could hold it for however long you want. I'm sure
A RUclipsr called Clint's reptiles has made a video on starter reptiles and all of them can be handled
I’m team lizard, I just prefer them
Had to resub
How many pets do you have now? P.S love your videos even though I only have a leopard gecko
14 herps of my own, 7 temporary herps and 3 cats lol
My brother had 3 leopard geckos when he was little and we had a tank filled with crickets in the house so like we’d find them all over the house
I am getting my very first leopard gecko, can I just use calcium mixed with vitamin D3 for the supplements and nothing else. Please tell me yes because I don't want to have to do all this stuff because this is my very first time
Edit-pkease answer
Very simple, no it's been proven lizards can not live off only supplements
If You Don't Want To Do It, Then Don't Get The Animal
From what I have gathered snakes are cats without legs and lizards are scaly dogs
YOUR WRONG SNAKES DO CARE lol my gardner litterally hates my mom wants me 100% kisses me on the nose and wraps around my face lol keep up the good work man!!
The fact that you don’t know how to spell garder snakes makes me think twice about u but I mean garder snakes do lick my nose and seem very curious around me, but it might just be because I and calm around them and my mom freaks out
disclaimer!: Snakes are not deaf!!! It may seem like they are, because on the outside they dont have any earholes, but I can promise you snakes ears are hidden behind the scales, so maybe their hearing isn't as good as a lizards, but they still can hear!
Ive gof a problem some of my crickets escaped now are breeding around my hous but idk where😭
Snek- probs harder too loose cuz long butt/neck, eats scary mice, can't loose butt, no need luv but can tame, snek can boop, slither slither slowly
Lizard- Smol butt easier to loose, eats scary worms and bugs but also sum eats yummy fruits, depending on species can loose tail (even smoller butt), more attached to owner and need luv, can boop, gotta go fast
And to be honest, I don’t know which one to get for my 13th birthday. Maybe a snake because I have a 200 litre reptile tank and I have a cat, mouse and a fish,I think if I get a lizard, it’ll run around and my cat might attack it but if I get a snake, I would be able to keep holding it like a thick spaghetti
I’m about get a blue tongue lizard should I name it potato or snake
My ballpython hasn’t pooped in 2-3weeks. Is it normal?
Clearly a legless lizard is the perfect mix
I love how you dont take put bloopers
I prefer snakes. However, OTHER people do not prefer snakes and if you live with other people that is the hardest part about having a snake is dealing with peoples reactions to your snake. Ugh.
generally
Wohoo very handy vid!
Update on the Savannah monitor
Lizards cause snakes try to open the top of their cage. And pythons and boas grow bigger as you feed them. However lizards are harder to feed. You would need to know what a lizard likes to eat. Mostly insects. The snakes will mostly eat mice.
i have a leopard gecko and thinking about getting a snake too
I own a beardie named everest and so I choose lizards over snakes but there both cool I just like lizards better
Yeh I’m try8ng to figure out, ball python or leo
Addison Baroni Same😂
I love both but I love lizards I have 1 crested gecko and 1 Kenya sand boa
Snakes are cuter and cooler but lizards have more friendly attitudes and fun,but they need a lot of food and poop a lot but snakes are the opposite. Which one should I get????
Is it okay to use reptile carpet for my ball python
Chris Games id 100 percent say get an actual substrate it can work for them fine but actual substrate is much better for them
spencer okay
Forrest floor by exoterra helps keep it humid for them by retaining moisture, also aspen chips are good.
Is repti bark good?
Zoo med Eco Earth, and forest floor substrates make a great substrate for ball pythons when mixed together.
Try putting your hands together
I still don't know if I want a snake or lizard as my first reptile. 😭
I wanted a ball pythonbut my dad said no :( I got a baby beardie instead though!
Yayyy!! I love your videos!
My bearded dragon has a huge cage, and sits in a corner for days, then moves eventually, and only runs when I let him out, I feel like he is a snake. .-.
TBH if i was a lizard, my bedroom is smaller than anything the lizards/snakes have
