The sticks sold at tourist traps with the shamrocks painted on them are the things that do not resemble Irish fighting sticks. They were cut short so as to fit inside suitcases and carry on bags with no consideration to authenticity or practicality. Un fortunately this shows how removed the idea is from it's source. There was however no traditional methodology applied to Irish fighting sticks just as long as they worked and did not fail in a dire time.

@BuscoBeast They are our own combination of ideas taken from a few places. It's hard to describe.

do you have any training groups in Germany? also there is bhata rinse here it is pretty impressive. I like this style as well and Italian stickfighting but what separates the Shiner Method as being truly distinct? In my opinion it looks like the best of Bastone Siciliano and Bhata Rinse, but I am no expert at all on the matter. would like to know more please.

So you use your Irish lilt and charm, and while they're still charmed, you clock 'em in the head with the stick.

I really like your work but I wouldn't call it an art of criminals! Come on, criminals according to who? invading rapists ? They were defending their own with ancient know how. If it's rough around the edges that's just the product of real life poverty and persecution. It was a serious art for men not criminals, monks included. In fact the monks were probably the one's who developed it, alone in those thick green forests with nothing but sticks and wits.

well not all eastern martial arts are developed by monks. "all warfare is based on deception." a statement from an old chinese text called the (art of war) by sun tzu. who lived in a time before the unification of china and warring states exsisted. martial arts are developed by whoever faces conflict and the results are usually pratical in nature though they can be corrupted over time.
