Spent 2022 learning how to walk again after an accident, was looking like I was to spend my life with a walking stick, I was shattered heart and soul, so I bought a true stick, I bought a Shillelagh, crippled but with a proud weapon and a gentleman's walking stick, a companion to help me on my walks through beach and forest then mother nature corrected my leg, it got better and better, will never be the same but I met this fine addition to my life...The Irish Shillelagh!
The skills are from actual close combat fighting in battle with swords. Life and death stuff. The Irish fought as mercenaries when not in self defence , but when forbidden lethal weapons, were able to transfer their sword battle skills to blackthorn. The Irish actually enjoyed faction fighting, just for the craic. Super useful self defence skills to learn. Great video 👍

Awesome to see some sparring footage in the Irish style. Most of the bata videos on RUclips are just footage of classes being taught. Seeing the Doyle movements being applied in an actual unchoreographed fight makes learning the tactics and usage of them alot easier. Spasiba bolshoe from the United States.

Are those hardwood sticks and is that preferred to those hard plastic shillelaghs? Were can those sticks be bought?
