Always love it when Bjorn reviews German cars! The German accent and words is hilarious!
Norwegian
Yeah his German is getting better 😂, but he has to extend his knowledge of German swear words.
If this was about Africans then it would be racist and cultural appropriation! I don’t mind but the woke snowflakes might.
I thought he is Chinese
His denglish is great
"What is das?! Scheiße!" 🙈😂👏🏻
Not Denglisch but his eGerman (English German) is very gut ;)

Engerman
Actually Norwenglish with Asian twist😁
@@band1tt it's Norwegian Engerman with an Asian twist xD
When a Norwegian speaks English it’s not uncommon with a sprinkle of different languages and Norwegian phrases translated into English loosing its meaning😁 we come from a culture where nothing on tv is dubbed, subtitles are standard, we pick up some words here and there and incorporate that into the English mix😄
Awesome test result for the ID3! I like the ambient lighting at night, even on the most basic model. Bjørn's reporting style is great as usual, and I love his enthusiasm!
I was waiting for this video for some time. Looking forward to the Plus and Max ID3 range tests. Good job Bjorn
Thanks for doing these types of videos and making a real world apples to apples comparison.
Thumbs up!
The locks I guess is the same as many other cars, you can set it up with unlock only drivers door with 1 click, all doors with 2 clicks or all doors with just 1 click..
Yeah VAG stuff can be set to do that. 1 click driver, double click all, click and hold doors unlock and all the windows come down. Not all do that, but you can program it if you have VAGCOM.
Customisable in the car setup in my e-tron also.
And for those who wonder why, its to lower the chance of a car jacking, when someone uninvited jumps in to the passenger seat.
As a german I like your german :-)
BN thank you for your time and effort that you put into your videos! Very Much appreciated. Gr8 content and information sharing. Thank you!!
I would really love to see a test of the best trim. Especially the travel assist, it works great, especially on the Autobahn.
Amazing range test. Good Job! I want this car!!!
Ive been waiting for this, thanks... but after watching Bjorn. now I need to wait for the larger battery review and range test.
Same here
I can't believe I wasn't subscribed yet. That's taken care of now. The ID3 is adorable so of course we won't get it in the U.S. Sigh.
Maybe with some extra tax ;)
Dammit, why don't we ever get anything good?!
But you will get the ID.4 in the US, and that is a very good car (according to Nextmove) with better interior quality, more space, higher SUV like seating position and not that much more expensive .. So don't worry 😊
@@nakfan Correct; it's really the ID Buzz that I want. I need something before the Buzz comes out and that might be the ID4. It's not as cute as the ID3, though, IMO.
Chevy Bolt EV is selling new for $22K in SoCal. Check out quality chevy in escondido.
I love the Design of the ID.3 ! Nice Car. Thanks for testing, Björn.
just drove my brand new ID 3 home from vw
couldnt be happier!
greetings from sweden!
Great looking car. Very big interior!! Go VW!! Best of luck
Great test, finally the first are in! This changes my opinion on the ID3 considerably, not ground-breaking but still impressive results indeed. Good job VW👍
.....and Bjørn ofcourse, our benchmark in EV testing😀
I'm very mucho looking forward to the coming barrage of ID3 vids
Im waiting for my ID.3 delivery. Im excited!
Me too
ditto!
Good work Bjorn.
Love the video because it’s so neat and clean
Impressed on how efficient ID.3 can be! Can’t wait to test the 82 (77nett) kwh battery! It must be very close to Model 3 Long Range version!
Thanks for the video, Bjørn! 👌
You’re absolutely at it with the videos lately. Thanks
Tack Björn, vi har också väntat på denna recensionen!
Björn, your german is awesome! I love it!!!
Great news for the car we have all been waiting for, I hope they can ramp up production and it will make it down under soon-ish
Great Video. Thank you Björn.
Thank you Bjorn !
great to see all these incremental improvements across and between manufacturers. As expected the ramp up is rapid in the early phase and will presumably plateau sometime in the future, though a long way to go yet....ICE had a 100 years of improvement and still going..
Hi Bjørn, the problem you had with the key is not the child lock. The key is configured to only open the drivers door when you press the key once. When you press twice, all doors will open. I think you can configure this, but I’m not sure.
SO why is the rear passenger door behind the driver door open then?
Nice but it would have to be much cheaper than a Tesla model 3 to consider it. No autopilot is a killer.
It is for security reasons, that (i believe the word is carjacking?) when you get in the car, that from the other side no one can steal bags or something else. Yes you should be able to configure it how to behave on first unlock
Excellent stuff - thank you!
So far so good 👍
Amazing!
How is your one so far?
Thought Bjorn would do better on the smaller rims Chris. Must be down to the cooler temp up there.
@@user-in1gn6fw2eab Likes Dislike video coming up tonight ;)
@@BatteryLife nice
Thank for making all of these videos.. Now I even know thst lighter wheels are pointless.. Its the rubber or rolling resistance and aerodynamics of the car!
Good shit. Hope you get the chance of testing the "new" e-Niro and see if there's any improvement over the e-soul. Cheers.
Only issue with this video is it’s to short... ;) Love watching the range test, Gelio, 1000km challenge and other “road trip” videos. Great content. Thanks for doing it!
I agree as I like the longer videos, since I find Bjorn to be both informative and entertaining.
I do think he does a superb job of catering to a wider audience with the shorter segmented videos and the longer video and endurance live streams.
You can re-watch his full live range video and 1000km challenge on Tesla Bjorn live.
Great video my friend !
I drove a VW ID3 1st yesterday for a short trip, and I was very impressed with the driving experience.
I actually prefer it over my Tesla Model 3.
I have to ask: Why would you prefer this over the Model 3?
@@f36443 I am curious too. Hazarding a guess here: ride quality - feels softer? Something else?
Sold my Model 3 Performance to get a ID. 3. Max 1st.
Reason: Need the rear hatch, and paint quality just isn't there on the Model 3. Also, VW allows undercoating without risking warranty. Did I mention the seats in the Model 3 are very soft and that the interior is very sombre and dark at night? Gotten used to the warm fuzzy feeling of the i3, so it will be nice to get something that can match that.
@@torbenbrenden Lack of a tailgate was a deal breaker for the Model 3 for me too - So disappointed. Model Y will come too late; Enyaq is the front-runner for me at the moment.
Gary Allsopp Enyaq looks like it has the makings of a runaway success. Strong looks, and great practicality.
My skoda is the same with the locking/ unlocking. Maddening!
I'd love to buy this car! But I can't afford to buy new. Maybe in a few years when they're on the second hand market.
In second hand half price... Wait 5 years. I have buyed a ZOE with 4.
Amazing! I think it will win against tesla in Europe at least by number in sales. Best of luck!
@doogieAfro I think it's unlikely for a non-European brand to dominate in Europe once companies like VW release mass-market EV's
Well, if it had the same charging infrastructure, definitely! But I'm not sure as per now.
doogieAfro and price. You can get one for around 30k Euro after incentives but including 16% VAT. Of course they can easily hit 40k+ but so can a Golf.
@doogieAfro roads in europe are smaller, parking house with small parklot is much easyer with a ID.3. Winter you will have less problems with a id.3 because the rear breaks wont get rusty. You have everywhere a garage and contact to the sales/service.
Great review. Can you review the newer i3 please? I believe they have tweeked the new 2020 model fir improved efficiency, jut like the new mini. I am obtaining 128Wh/km from my new std i3 after 2400km
Björn did it again now with ID3 a good comparison. TQ
This car will be everywhere soon. At work they have allready been popping up.
Why don’t they use e-ink displays for those charge posts.
The developers and ceos never use their products.
Illegible displays are so annoying
I totally agree, it is not like they need fast refresh rates or even color for that matter. I wonder how much money they would save due to not needing a back light during the day.
Or transflective displays.
Or a shroud
E ink display fade quite early and easily. So it's better to just use led dot displays
This car is much better then I have expected.
There was many promotion in all the heads. VW wins the Promotion factor 😉
Looks good
Dang, with incentives this is gonna be a hit in Europe... Compact, efficient, long range (I mean, 410+ km of real world range on the 58kWh battery? That's goood)... I can see them phasing out the golf for this and then slashing the price.
over 400km if you drive 90km/h. real world autobahn would be like in the high speed test 250-270km range ;-)
I wish they had the golf body
@@christoph6225 Even that is good if you compare with other cars. It charges also quite fast so it's a very good allround car for normal commute and a weekend trip and even holiday.
@@christoph6225 Nobody drives 100% on highway only, so getting about 400km of real world range with a mix of city and highway is pretty reasonable. And even if you drive 130 on a trip, that's still 2 full hours of driving on a single charge... taking a 15 minutes break every 90 minutes of driving is a good habit anyway, so if you plug it in 15 minutes at a fast charger every 90 of driving, you're probably looking at about 500 km of combined (driving + short break) range before a real charge stop (30+ minutes) is needed.
And this is on the medium battery... with the 77 kWh we can probably expect about 510-520 km of mixed range and about 360-380 km at 130 (probably 400+ at 110), at a price below 40k with incentives, which is fantastic!
realy nice car!! And the high is 1,56m almost as high as the Model Y!!!
Almost as high as the BMW i3 as well 👌
chinese battery!
I've been waiting for Bjorn's review of this car.
Since I don't speak German.
I have already been in one multiple times.
Just a great car.
A worthy successor to the Golf.
The top spec is really great. Especially electric seat adjusting in every Dimension and heated steerinf wheel. Very nice.
Yep. Just a good car like the golf. Doesn't do anything spectacular or shouty. Just quietly gets on with being a good A-B car. That is what a lot of reviewers seem to be missing. They've driven Tesla's and Porsches and they are WoW! But the golf was never about wow, it's a bit plain, but that is why it works so well.
@@0tispunkm3y3r exactly
@@0tispunkm3y3r Yeah, and you only pay 50k eur lmao...

Would love to see a topographical overlay of your test routes - showing elevation gain & descent. In BC, we have a lot of mountain passes and consumption can be pretty surprising - even alarming - at times. You're tests are great research for those of us deciding on our next EV (thank you), but knowing the elevations would be a nice addition for comparison.
Then you need to look at Geilo test.
Bjørn Nyland Will do! Thank you.
This is such an important car for the VW group. I hope the long wait has been worth it. I think the interior looks a bit cheap, I don't like gloss back plastics in cars, but that's just my taste. Exterior looks good. I run a BMW i3, good car, but not perfect - main criticism is the excessively hard ride, the VW looks to be much better in this respect. However the i3 interior is a lovely place to be.
Please test the new etron S and etron sportback S ♥️
I hope VW brings the ID3 TO The US. Excellent review.
No, it won't. But it will bring its brother to the US, the ID.4.
Id.4 are getting 3 years free charge with electrify america: media.electrifyamerica.com/en-us/releases/112
nice vid :)
I love your German!!!
This guy is cool!
never been so fast
Your wife wouldn‘t be proud.
I was waiting for this video for a very long time, please make more videos from ID.3 and compare it with Tesla model 3
Where is the stylish Vw interior? It looks like lupo :-D
Best part about VAG cars are that you can use tools to unlock hidden features etc :)
And you won't get an "Incompatible modification of the vehicle detected” message when you do.
I’m looking forward to know the real range of the 45kw id3 and a review of it!!!
I got a feeling that vag made the mistake of making the new skoda nicer than this vw - so I look forward to hear you compare the 2 when you get to test the skoda
Hi Björn. We also made a 1000 km Challenge in Germany. We had the ID 3 Max with 20 inch wheels. We needed 11 h 15 minutes. 40 % of the Autobahn where under Road construction, also we had a very cold night with 5 degrees. We had to drive 1015 km for 1000 km on Odometer. 23,1 kwh/100 km average consumption were displayed. Also we are fighting against closed backdoors ;-) But one thing we're not happy about the drumbrakes: at one point we had to made a heavy brake from 160 to 70 km/h und the drumbrakes are vibrated very hard! And we thought, the car will never stops. The whole car was vibrating a lot! This is s...this situation we have on our Livestream.
@@abraxastulammo9940 ok. Maybe only a problem for german Autobahn. But this was not funny for us!
@don storm you are not living in Germany? Very normal on German Autobahn. My Ioniq and my Kona don't have this behavior. Sorry man. But don't fell in love with a car, where the brakes a like in a 40 years old VW Käfer. So we are very disappointed from the drumbrakes in the ID3
"yo what's up" = instant like lol
Thanx I saw this car in the showroom, the metalsheets behind c-block are thin and also too much light when you sit in the car, everythings starts, 2 screens and so on. Also you sit much up in the back. But its a nice car anyway.
Road trip video please 😆
Never clicked so fast
Cantwait for the next models to come out, so these can get cheaper second hand
It prevents children to get in to the car! Nice feature! 😄
Nice 👍
If this is the base model, its impressive
what are your impressions about its driving dinamycs?
The range seems to be twice as much compared to the e-Golf 2020 which im driving daily now!
I drive 100km per hour and the e-Golf usually goes maximum of 130km of range. On a normal\cold weather with some wind. Typical weather for West\Nord Europe.
All the infotainment system is very tricky. Not so user friendly...and it should show the battery %. Hope VW will fix it soon, because i like it very much
You see the range left. Why you need percentage?
I like the Bjorn new ABBA song: Super Trooper, I'm a-gonna ban you, if you can't be true; like I always do, or I'll always screw you too"
It looks like the new Leaf Plus!
Hi Bjørn thanks for your videos.
The Wv ID.3 is a very good car in the 62kwh configuration. I would be happy if you did a range test with Model 3 Long Range RWD. Thank you
ruclips.net/video/6xSnWoYzEUo/видео.html
@@bjornnyland I saw thanks, but the car you tested didn't have the original aero rims and it had winter tires. With original rims, summer tires, higher temperatures the result would be very different. I live in Italy and have a Long Range RWD which currently has 72.5 kWh available. At 110 / 115km with summer tires and a temperature of around 25 ° I managed to travel 458km with 91% battery.
I love the form factor of ID3, normally a tesla fan boy. Please bring it to USA :)
As of last year they said they had no plans to bring it to market in North America.
@@TheEvilmooseofdoom Spamming VW Twitter with ID.3 request might do the job
@@muhammadirfanataulawal7630 Can't hurt to try!
It will have a hard time competing against Tesla model 3 and Y in the US. First the car will be more expensive in the US due to tariffs (while in Europe tariffs have to be paid for a Tesla). Second the car is tailored to the European market in size and style.
Perfect
rarely clicked so fast
Regarding consumption: please be reminded that on a plain vanilla highway drive there is not much recuperation so yo should see values similar to an e-Golf for example. The picture is different on a up-and-down the hills drive or stop-and-go: there you have lot of recuperation. Because the ID. 3 has the motor in the back and is back powered the recuperation is less efficient than with a front wheel driven car like the e-Golf or Kona. So you should see a higher consumption for the ID. 3 versus e-Golf or Kona by principle. Wind resistance and tire dimensions may add to the difference.
Regarding SW bugs and usability improovements: I wouldn't expect much! VW has missed the chance to involve experienced e-Golf drivers to develop the ID. 3 UI (both SW and HW) up to now and the current state of the SW and touch usability is miserable, as well as the speech interface is awkwardly slow with an obviously underpowered processing unit.
Why should rear wheel drive matter to the regen efficiency?
I hope this car sells well. I’d love one but probably still slightly too expensive.
POPCORN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For this is a VW you have to check the consumption reported by the car against the values from the cargingpoint.
I did and it was correct.
Nice.. That what we want to see from manufactures.. Just electric drive train, bare car.. No power suckink electronics - perfect.. Even manual seats
Totally agree. I don't have an EV, but i don't need all the fancy stuff. Just something basic with some range.
Theye „power sucking“ electronics make no difference at all. You could change your seat electrically the whole year 24/7 before running out of power
Test Test k think he is missing the point of why they left out many of these things
Test Test he kinda implies that VW left these things out to get more range, but it simply to reduce cost.
The small electronic gimmicks in modern cars have basically no impact on range at all
@@reinerw.1158 The main reason why I'm so excited is the cost but if you say that all of those fancy electronics won't impact battery life then that something to think about.. I looked at the price and still price.. Not far from model 3 price wise
I don't like the look all black, especially from the front :D It's a bit weird, because the design doesn't change just because of the color haha :D but looks bit weird.
Gotta agree on the polestar comment too, the center console is basically a red flag to everyone who needs some space for his legs like me xD
Any idea when the 77kWh version will be released for you to test? Also, I’m completely
SHOCKED that a backup camera isn’t A. Mandatory equipment in the EU, B. Not standard on a car that costs this much and is so “tech” centered... I’m really looking forward to VW’s ID.4 USA reveal today! I hope it’s got impressive specs, a low price and decent availability!
How does the efficiency compare to Model 3 Long range?
I'm impressed. Yes, it has flawslike every car, but for me this seems like a winner. And a possible replacement for my e-Golf in 4 years. Unless i'm rich then, i'll get something nicer

I was looking for this video! Right on time. I drove an ID.3 Plus today and what I noticed is that it is full of software bugs. For example the interior lights did not work (there was a beep sound when tried to turn them on). Another example is that initially I did not fully close the driver car and it refused to go in Drive mode and it displayed a warning message, so I opened-closed the door again, now it went in Drive mode and after driving about 500m I was wondering why I hear so much noise from the outside and I tried to close the window just to find out that the window was closed, but the driver door was not. No warnings. Haha. Even my 10 years old Citroen automatically locks the doors or displays a warning when a door is not closed. However, I like the car. I hope that it has OTA updates like Tesla so they can fix all the bugs. If the price is really 37000 euro and now I see that the range is 400km, I definitely consider to buy it. Can't wait to see more videos from you about this car. Thank Bjørn!
OTA will come after ID.4 delivery started AFAIK, it's one big finished update
Fundamentally is a good car, software can be fixed easily and in just a few months. Yes it should be right first time, but can be fixed.
So this is the mid size battery option, right? There will be a version with a bigger battery?
Nice video! Yesterday (Wednesday) I paid VW $100 to reserve my id.4 in the USA: the reservations sold out by the end of the day!
