-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.

Absolutely beautiful! I've started making a hat with this stitch. Thank you for another brilliant tutorial!!!💖💖
You’re very welcome 😊
How do you change it in the round?
@@rebeccagarland2589 i crocheted a rectangle and then seamed the sides together, and gathered the top to close. I also added 12 extra chains for the brim, and worked that in BLO SC for each row to create ribbing.
@@LoopySusieQ when, how and where exactly did you add the BLO SC to create the ribbing? Is it okay if you give some detail instructions on how to achieve that? Thanks!
@@LoopySusieQ and maybe a photo if you have one! So clever thank you!!!

teşekkür ederim :)
Fantastic tutorial. Have started on a blanket in it. Who knew counting to 4 could be so hard?
Thank you :)
Hi how are you doing?
شكرآ كثيرآ هل تعلمينا صناعة قبعه للرأس من نفس الغرزه رجأءآ❤
Great video. I’m a beginner so don’t have a clue about yarns. Do you have a video about different yarns? Which ones are best for which projects? And where to buy in uk? Most yarns that I’ve experience with don’t wash well and seem to Frey or bubble etc.
I’m trying to learn how to do the butterfly stitch
Lovely stitch, I would like to do a blanket but wondered if there is a tutorial on doing the almond stitch with straight edges so I can put my own decorative edging on ? Many thanks, ps after many years I have mastered the granny square through your videos, amazing thank you x
You're welcome, I'm happy to hear my videos have helped you 😊 If you want to add straight edges to the top and bottom, you need to work a round using stitches of different heights - if you work double crochet stitches (UK terms) on the top parts and then treble crochet stitches in the 'dips' this will straighten it out for you.
Thank you so much 😁
😍😍😍🔝🙏🏼
I want to crochet a baby blanket using your tutorial, is there a border for this lovely pattern?
Another lovely pattern of stitches 😍!
Again ? Baby sweater , hat?
The royal ridge stitch works up to give quite a thick, dense fabric so I recommend using it for things like dishcloths and potholders 😊
Hi how are you doing?
This stich is sooo beautiful ❤️❤️😀😀😀 I want to make a blanket with this stich, Sarah will a velvet yarn affect the stich?
I'm glad you like it 😊 You might find that velvet yarn gives less stitch definition, but the best way to find out is to crochet a swatch
For anyone with 5 stitches left at the end, once you get past the row where you skip a loop on the hook, your new stitch number will be one less. It's multiples of 8, plus 5, to account for that first skipped loop. Then, it is 8 plus 4, so that the number is divisible by 4, which is the number of stitches each hill and valley so to speak, uses. My starting chain was 109, and the number of stitches I count in each row as I go along when I check my work is 108. Hope this makes sense as to why some of us were winding up with 5 stitches at the end of the rows!
🙏👏🤙
Love this pattern, how would I do this with a straight edge please
To straighten the edges you can work a border using stitches of different heights; double crochets along the top and then treble crochets into the dips 😊
I can't locate the version for straight edges for this stitch. I imagine that is what would be needed for the patchwork blanket. Can someone help me. Thanks much. Bella Coco videos are the best to learn by. I recommend them to people all the time.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like them! You can straighten this off by working stitches of different heights when you work the border - for example, you can work double crochets (UK terms) and then treble crochets into the dips 😊
Can you please tell me how to change colours in between?
I love this stitch, very simple and looks great! I just have one question, in the video you say row 2 starts with 4 slip sts . However the written pattern on your blog says starts with 4 htr, which is correct? Thanks x
I would love to make a lap blanket with this stitch 💜 could you tell me how to work out how much yarn I would need? Thanks 😊 x
This would really depend on the type of yarn you are using, your hook size and your tension. I would suggest that you continue to chain until you reach the width that you need :)
@@bellacococrochet Sorry I meant how much yarn as in grams or metres? Thanks 😊
What kind of crochet hook are you using? It is beautiful and looks very easy to use. Also, how can I get it? Great video btw, thank you for taking the time to show us. I'm a visual learner a d your videos are very helpful. I will try this pattern to start, for a Dishcloth.
Totally agree. Beautiful hook
Hi how are you doing?
@@jameswoodgate6477 is this a question for the video?
This is a beautiful stitch. Love the video, the pace is great! I am also in love with your crochet hook! Where can I find these?
Thank you very much, the hook is from one of the monthly subscription boxes :)
Hi how are you doing?
Hi hope u read this, im making your patchwork blanket and watching vid for this pattern but on the written pattern its r1 ss4 htr 4 then row 2 4 blohtr 4 bloss but vid says r1 4ss 4htr r2 same as r1 sorry just confusing me la bit lol really love your videos so easy to follow ❤
The videos are only assisted videos, they don't follow the actual patterns as they had to be adjusted for the blanket pattern :)
I would love to do a square with this stitch how to I get it straight on the bottom and top thank you
You need to work stitches of different heights along the top and bottom to fill in the gaps, so you could work double crochets (UK terms) along the flat parts and then treble crochets along the dips. 😊
Thank you for your advice 😁
Hello! This stich looks so pretty!!! But i wanted to ask a question... How can i make a straight border for the stitch? 💖
I'm glad you like it 😊 To straighten off the top you can work a row using stitches of different heights, for example double crochet stitches on the peaks and treble crochets on the peaks.
❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏🥳😍🌹🍀🇵🇹
Love this but I’m having difficulty getting the crochet hook into the back loops even though I’m trying not to make the stitches too tight. Any ideas?
It can be fiddly working into the back loops only until you get the hang of it; I would have a look at the hook you are using as some hooks are pointier at the tip whereas some are more flat and rounded. If you are using the flat and rounded type this can make it harder to get into the loops 😊
@@bellacococrochet Ah thanks so much :)
For a scarf made with this stitch , do we need to make a different stitch perimetrical when we finish the work ? Or not ?
For a scarf made using this you can just keep adding rows until you reach the length you want; there's no need to work another stitch to straighten off the beginning and end as I think this will make the scarf look really beautiful 😊
@@bellacococrochet thank you so much 😊 You think it doesn’t need any extra stitch on the sides either ?
Hi. Is it possible to start with normal almond ridges but end it with the flat end?
To straighten the top of the stitches you can work a row using stitches of different heights; double crochets (UK terms) along the high parts and then treble crochets into the low parts 😊
@@bellacococrochet ok thank you very much. I just started crocheting and I’m a big fan of this channel❤️
Can I ask what hook you are using in this tutorial as they look super comfy to hold. Xx
It’s a Furls crochet hook! They are comfy and beautiful! A little more expensive but very worth it xx
Thank you so much I will have a look for some. Xxx
@@carolrankin8186 I’m glad you asked! I was thinking the same thing. I just ordered the furls hook!
Hi how are you doing?
@@carolrankin8186 hi
I love this pattern! I'm going to get started straight away. Do you think it would work with a varigated yarn? Thanks for this super easy tutorial!❤❤
I'm glad you like it 😊 I think it could look really nice with a variegated yarn; you could also alternate the variegated yarn with a plain one to create a lovely striped effect.
Hi how are you doing?
Where would i change color yarn? Thank you
I would change colour every two rows, so either at the end of row three or row five 😊
I AM FIRST
Thanks for liking 🥰

Can you tell me what you’re hook is please. Is it a furls
Yes it is :)
@@bellacococrochet would u recommend them thinking of getting a few
I ended up with 1 too few foundation ⛓️ after working the first row
I would go back over your row and recount your stitches, and make sure you have the correct number of half trebles and slip stitches 😊 Remember you should be working your first slip stitch into the second chain from the hook. The written instructions are available over on my website here: bellacococrochet.com/almond-ridges/
I must be doing something wrong in the beginning-with multiples of 8 and 5 for turning, i am only able to finish row one with 3 slip stitches, not 4. Help!!
Have you made sure you're starting in the correct chain? You should start off by making a slip stitch into the second chain from the hook. You can also use stitch markers to mark every ten stitches or so, to make sure you're not missing any along the way 😊
This time I ended up with 2 few in the foundation chain, what the heck. I counted 29 as well
I would go back over the row and double check that you’ve made the correct number of each stitch. Remember you should be making your first stitch into the second chain from the hook. The written instructions are over on my website here too: bellacococrochet.com/almond-ridges/ 😊
Where is the written pattern
The written pattern can be found on my blog at bellacococrochet.com, however for your convenience here is the link :- bellacococrochet.com/almond-ridges/ :)
