I used to work at Ralli-Art MMSP when Mitsubishi was in the WRC, the last drivers if you will, Rovanpera/Panizzi/Galli and until you have seen what goes into building a competing car from scratch you have no idea. Same I saw Subie drop the STi as a way of them throwing in the towel. They went from making some of the best STi's to come out of Subaru in a while and then just stopped the program in a way. But seeing some of the newer WRX mods and performance brands on board still supporting it and even some doing more it's given me hope that they can still put out a decent AWD turbo car.

    You want to make a point and regain credit, beat the opposition in WRC! Unfortunately for Subaru the WRX has put on so much weight to suit a certain market the current gen would get smoked by the latest WRC cars.
    I love my VA STI but still wish it was more of a beast and more nimble to drive from factory.

      WRC is a micro car championship now. My bet is that they can use Impreza RS and make it work against Fiestas, Polo, I20s etc.

      @@SuzukiKid400 Granted, I've already bought my car and it was the styling of the VB that made me not get it over a GR86, but it would be nice if the DCCD transmission was offered in it. To me, when you get an STi, it's the transmission that makes the biggest difference. Suspension is easier to upgrade than it is to swap a transmission. That, and the VB already has enough power with much more on the table.

      @SuzukiKid400 Год назад +4

      Agreed the tranny could be upgraded. But in stock form, the VB is a great car. I have no interest in modifying the suspension as OEM suspension is just so good these days.

    Step 1, take delivery of 2023 WRX, Step 2, take everything from the 2023 WRX and throw it in the trash. "we race what Subaru sells" Yep, the doors, trunk, and glass.

      I think the suspension pickup points have to be within a tight window of the factory points.
      The engine is based on the production engine as well, you just don't see that in this video because it's off in the shop getting improved bits added on.

      Welcome to racing (especially rally), I guess. At least be glad that ARA still requires a no-shit road car chassis instead of going full stupid tube frame bucket of parts like Rally1.
