Acknowledging that these are cadian ranks, the Sergeant Major of the Armies would be an honorific title similar to the Army Sergeant Major title, which is an honorific and the holder is actually an SO3/captain and not a warrant officer. I think your vision for the rank is closer to the British army, while the rest of your structure is more US based and that causes the oddity of a warrant officer being more senior than ASM. In the British army a sergeant major is a warrant officer, with Company SMs being WO2s and Regimentao SMS being WO1 (1 being more senior than 2)
I took a look and you can see them! I was trying to zoom in to see the exact details. I’m painting up my cadians in the standard fatigues. What colors would go well for their shoulder pad insignias and markings? In your research, did you happen to see what colors are used consistently? It feels like gold, white, and red are frequently used.
Hey quick follow up question, do your platoon colors vary between each other? I see the red stripe represented, but do you have other colors to represent the sequential platoons? Thanks!
Hi so yeh turns out RUclips unsubscribed me but hey🤷♂️ still loving the videos and is still enjoyable to see how a guard regiment usually functions since numbers or formations tend to get misused or misunderstood.
I love it James. Been hoping you'd make a video on this for a long time. I truly appreciate all the love and detailing you put into your IG. It really inspired me with my Eldar to do the same. I've done squad markings, pilot badges, and everything after doing tons of research into the proper heraldry. I love it man, keep up the great work!
A Castellan is the equivalent of brigadier General /General Major / Lieutenant General /General / Lord General / High Lord General / Lord Castellan is highest rank for the Cadian Faction. 😊

@@18thCadianArmyGroup I wasn't sure about the UK ranks at first I thought they were us Air Force but then I said that ain't right. I personally ew's USMC ranks for my Imperial Guard because those are the ones I'm familiar with. It was a wonderful video and I did like how the sleeves and insignias on the actual uniforms were done so I might use that as a Baseline for painting my own.
@@highmarshal528 UK ranks are more traditional to what most armies used historically. Which I think works better for the large scale of the Imperial guard. I think the USMC small unit organisation is a better fit actually. Either that or base it more on the Second World War.
Damn, all my guardsman are Generals...
Welcome back James! The Emperor is pleased!:)
StrikingScorpion82 I sense Heresy... lol! 😂😂😂
amazing video! Truly perplexes me that you're not more popular, you definitely deserve to be well past 100k
Thank you so much... I wish it was 100k but you never know. 😃lol!
It’s been a while dude, good to have you back
wolf squad many thanks, glad I’m back on RUclips. 👍

Great videos!! Quick question: did you actually paint your insignias on every single one of your guardsmen?
Many thanks 😊 Pretty much painted all the insignia for infantry and tanks if you look carefully 😊

So all Cadians put the spade on their right shoulder? I often see them modeled with a number on one of their shoulders.
I’ll be doing a future video about units that are numbered and hope to cover that particular subject. 😊

Loving it so much ❤️
Glad you love the content. 😀
The knowledge universities try to teach us vs the knowledge we need
Yep very true. 😎
i know this is an old video, but would a castellan of a world be a Lord General? or is it just the highest ranking person stationed on the planet?
A Castellan is the equivalent of brigadier General /General Major / Lieutenant General /General / Lord General / High Lord General / Lord Castellan is highest rank for the Cadian Faction. 😊
Reminds me of Starship Troopers outfits.
It kind of does I do admit... love the battle scenes in that movie. :-)
Is this based off canon sources? Either way a wonderful job. Subbed.
Marq 0 thanks for the sub, 👍 it’s not official GW canon, but I’ve done the organisation with as much accuracy to the 40k lore as possible. 🙂
@@18thCadianArmyGroup more pleeease i looove it

At what rank can they save Cadia?
Any! 😎
Somewhere in the galaxy, a Cadian just started crying for seemingly no reason.
For the emperor! Cadia stands!
😎😎😎
So its jest most of the army ranks with some flavor changes
High Marshal Stormy yeah it’s a mix of US & UK insignia with 40k Unit titles in respect to the lore. 🙂

Why did you base these on the american rank system when warhammer 40k ranks a military organization is based on the british army
I used to mix of British and American for the Cadian Army, Astra Militarum airforce American, Aeronautica Imperalis British & imperial Navy British. 😊
