The Crew Motorfest is an upcoming racing video game developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It will be the sequel to 2018's The Crew 2 and the third game in The Crew series, scheduled to release on September 14, 2023. As with its predecessors, the game is set in an open world environment; however, unlike the predecessors which were set in the Contiguous United States, Motorfest would be set in a scaled-down version of the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu. The Crew Motorfest will be set in a scaled-down version of the island of Oʻahu in Hawaii. It will be themed around a festival that will serve as the main area for accessing the various events in the game, which is similar to that of the Forza Horizon series of games. Its gameplay is similar to that of the previous games in the series, featuring online multiplayer features referred to in game as a "crew", as well as being able to control vehicles other than cars such as planes and boats.

Microtransactions are only for visual upgrades. Non essential imo. I played all crew and only sometimes bought the battlepass (motor pass its called in the crew). But i think when the game gets so much support from the develeper its fair to pay for extra's after you initialy bought the "as is" game.

As guy who rarely buys racing games unless it has vehicle combat, motorfest is very good, I still prefer a game like blur but motorfest gets a thumbs up from me.

Playing for last couple of days. It is absolutely gorgeous. Very colorful map and graphics look sublime on PS5. Customization is rich. Car handling is more weighty/substantial than prior Crew iterations. AI is stout. Cars themselves are highly detailed and the depth of engine sound is a huge improvement.
So far haven’t felt compelled to spend any actual money. I’m happy to grind within the in-game economy
did you play forza before? the game looks like cheap ripoff, EVERYTHING looks similar, but is in fact worse.

This is coming from a guy who has played fh5 for more than 300 hours and i can already tell you motorfest feels way better & more exciting + fun to play than FH5. FH5 started to feel boring after a certain point

So far I think the game is great, an 8.5 for me. It has beautiful graphics, its smooth on PS5. A beautiful and massive map, cars look and sound great. Lots of vehicles with more on the way. Only negative is like you motioned, prices and microtransactions are just a let down.

From my crew 2 save I get over 300 cosmetics imported into the crew motor fest for free not to mention 400+ cars.

Had a lot of test drive vibes from this map. The handling is very different and I’m not sure if I like it but it is a more realistic handling which is much better for the game

The problem with playing too many games over the years is I now feel like I'm chasing an experience from past games. The most fun racing experience I've had was actually the racing mode in Watch Dogs and I've bern trying to find a racing game that parallels that experience.
Has been the same with games like Left 4 Dead, Battlefield 3, and Rocket League.
Hope this game offers that competitive experience

Well I purchased again last night I've always been a crew fan and I really enjoyed it. It's not perfect. It's not 10 out of 10 but it's a really solid good fun game and the physics have improved significantly. The reason I purchase this game is I do like racing games but I was sick to death of Gran Turismo. My issue with that game is just simply they have not changed anything since the day. The game was launched. I've added three tracks in about 10 cars and that's it.... The graphics are insane. The sound is fantastic and the physics are significantly improved. I wouldn't say it's a simulation, but it's definitely more than just arcade and I really enjoyed it and it was fun. Edit the end of the day if a video game is fun that's all you're after isn't it that's why we play isn't it?
It's such a good game. It's an huge upgrade overall. Also there's no story, you didn't have to bring up the story in this case. It's all about racing & festival. The crew which actually had a story was The Crew 1

@@ictr3ma255 check your eyes. Graphics are improved a lot as compared to TC2. A smaller map doesn't mean it's a bad game. Motorfest has way smaller map but the density is way higher than TC2's USA. This map feels like it has 10 times more details than TC2 map
I would buy this game for $40 but I think $70 is too much for what you're getting. This feels like a 'premium arcade' game almost like the Xbox 360 era. Shouldn't be priced $10 above Baldur's Gate 3 in my opinion but maybe if you're a hardcore car culture person it's good for you. Putting this in the 'wait for a sale' boat and will get it down the line.

It is a severely casual review. Some of the stuff he talks about makes sense but the focus on Demolition Royale over Grand Race (he just glossed over a 28 player race like okay then), and the repeated emphasis on "I played all three games" as if he needed some elite validation... Dangerously close to becoming the modern "Gaming in The Clinton Years" in all honesty.

The lack of older cars, especially e46, e36, rs2 etc was a shock to me
One thing I cannot stand on this game is the way the cars will randomly and for no reason spin out. I was doing a pvp race in my P1 and I was first by a country mile, but I went to go around a corner that was the same as all the others, the exact same way I did all the others and executed those corners fine, but on this corner the car randomly and out of no where started powersliding and would not stop heading in that same direction until I basically stopped entirely. Why are the cars so unpredictable in this game.

hey dreamcast, great review, but you missed one thing about the upgrade parts. You can actually spend your money on them, but it's not the way you think. When you go to the part you equipped on any car, you can go to it's afix and re-calibrate it's powers/bonus with cash and scrap, it starts off cheap but gets very pricey if you keep changing it. Now it doesn't mean much to the average player but if you wan't to compete in the summits with ease then these afix on the parts are very important, especially if you wan't to do something faster then the rest of the competition. As someone who currently lives on Oahu I was hoping for a 1 to 1 recreation of the island. I understand when they can't recreate America 1 to 1 but Oahu isn't terribly big and was disappointed to see the island so scaled back.
lol its actually stupid to complain about micro transactions when it doesnt affect gameplay my guy. EVERY GAME HAS THEM. as long it isn't pay to win then it doesnt matter. at that point you buy them its your fault you wanted the cool version of a car. So tired of the complaints about micro transactions, PEOPLE THERE IS A DIFFRENCE. there are optional non-gameplay affecting micros and there are pay to win micros. NO ONE CARES ABOUT COSMETICS AND COOL VERSION OF CARS. WE CARE ABOUT PAY TO WIN. And for god sakes XP boosts arent pay to win in this game, players still need to purchase the cars mostly and upgrade them when they do.
On another note, most of the complaints here are due to the style of THE CREW and not racing games. the randomized parts are exactly what the crew is about and you think you would know that from reviewing the last 3 games. Also The biggest issue with this game is the loaned cars and why it is a cheap knock-off of forza horizon. Literally i have not been able to use any of my cars in any of the playlists.....its the dumbest thing about the game. here are 1000 cars you can buy and customize but then we just give you a loaner car anyway so kills the point.
Lol i was always saying the same, i found forza famboys using *microtransactions* as an argument to say that Motorfest was bad, when it barely has microtransactions, these being the 5 typical special currency packs as CC, and then the year pass that only gives u 2 exlcusive cars and 2 cars every month for free, these last ones being aviable as shop cars 1 week later and the other 2 being the only exlcusives

Love the game but pretty sad that their Crossplay doesn't mean full crossplay and just randomized players in Grand Race/Demolition.... I'm on PC and my friends got the game on PS5... Only way we can play together is if we search for a GR lobby at the same time which sucks.
Best crew game easily
My only issue is the horn on the left controller goes off all the time when you go around the corner I had to change it, but there is a button assigned to everything so it was difficult to find a button that wasn't assigned to something and it was confusing because I didn't want the bloody horn going off every time I did a hard left-hand turn because it is so easy to press L3 when you're doing hard tunes in a big heav Ford Mustang did anyone else have that issue? And is there any way of turning the bloody horn off?

Literally every AAA Ubisoft game has microtransactions. They just can’t help themselves and it’s embarrassing.
The original Crew was cool because it was just cars only with a huge ass map. I am not excited about racing boats, bikes or planes in one locale only. That being said, I could be tempted to pick it up on sale during boxing week.
I'm a forza fan and I have played the crew motofest and my opinion the crew motofest is way better then forza 5 the driving physics and graphics are amazing in this game its really awesome!!!
I wish the physics were simcade like Forza or GT but Motorfest feels vastly better than Crew 2 so huge improvement there.
Does the game allows you to walk around in third person in your aparment and show your car collection just like in The Crew 2 ? I really love to expose my cars around lol.

Don’t think you even have an apartment in this game sadly two of my favourite things in the crew 2 were the apartment with the sea view where you could display your vehicles and the massive us map. only time you get to walk around is in the car collection area but the cool thing is the photo mode works in there so you can take pics of the car designs you like the most - I guess if your car design becomes popular it could feature in the showroom for other players to rate and view
I'll stop you there since I played Motorfest too, and you don't need microtransactions, I am finished with a bunch of events including online even where I got platinum and rewards 99800 out of 100000 needed, but they have these event where you can get cars and underflow and whatever. Just playing the playlist gives yellow exp then there is green exp and red, each do different things, so microtransactions are for people to skip the cosmetic line and buy cars, but you have to play to upgrade cars, other than a few hard to find things like replay and menu stuff, the gameplay is way better than crew 2 and it's kinda like horizon 5 but better only less cars, but lots are being added.
Put about 300 hours into the crew 2 and can honestly say this one is crap and I’m disappointed .
They have been very clever with this , they have made it a lot more vibrant and uplifting but in reality it’s just a crew 2 dlc , you could put the races somewhere on the map in the crew 2 instead but they put them on a pretty small and lame island and charged people over 50 for the game .
The playlists suck , I don’t want to have to do a playlist in a rented car first to be able to do it again in my own cars which then has no real incentive to do again anyway .
The amount of playlists regardless doesn’t justify the games price tag either .
Then there is the frame rate in resolution mode which is unusable , it should be able to output that at a nice 60fps , it’s ps5 , Xbox can do it with forza .
The graphics for a 2023 racer are in actual fact awful .
The ai is broken and too inconsistent.
The way they race is un natural sometimes tanking ahead out of nowhere and staying way too far in front .

Simple answer if you have a shitty ps5 the crew its a good game for you if you have a pc the crew motorfest feels like a 2016 game with very bad graphics compared to horizon 5 also it has a 60 fps lock and no mirrors the graphics are horrible forza horizon 5 4k all graphics maxed looks almost like real life and runs at 120 fps with MIRRORS AND GOOD GRAPHICS also has good force feedback unlike this shitty crew game smh i want my money back

Needs PSVR2 support. This would be great in VR with Logitech Pro and Playseat Trophy (for the four wheel land-based vehicle parts anyway).
Bought it today one of the best car games ive played the handling is just enough fun without being to arcadey and the map is crazy beautiful. There are something that annoy me though like mirrors not working and micro transactions

Not all the way through the video, so maybe it's mentioned, but please tell me you can remap the controls again on xbox. I skipped 2 altogether due to the bizarre control layout and even more bizarre fact that it couldn't be changed.
They need to get rid of all the other vehicles. I want cars and bikes. Could care less about planes and boats.

Yeah okay micro transactions are there but most you can buy with ingame money so that is great i know there are many to come but I don’t think it is a problem i have 27 hours now and i think this is there best game so far the handeling is a improvement and also the sounds and cars details for sure its also a smaller map but it has more details so i like it great video btw!

I think it would be more positive to call these episodes "Is It Good?". Both are leading questions sure but its always more uplifting to hope that it's good. But if its not, well it's not.
I'm currently having problems with the Crew Credit award claiming on the Challenges. Previously, I had some problems with the livery editor.

I'm 4 hours into the game on XSX.
Car handling around corners is not good. The steering action doesn't feel right. Rather than a smooth turning progression around bends, it works by impulse (all or nothing), which makes the car go from "turn" to "go straight" and back to "turn" again, with no in-between, creating a small zigzag effect. In tight corners, because of this, cars have a tendency to snap into oversteer without warning as you turn more and move towards the apex. You need to correct this behaviour a bit too often. So, the interaction with a standard controller kind of sucks. Maybe it's better on a wheel. This reminds me of the poor steering mechanics in the old racing games.
To me this really detracts from a fun and inmersive racing experience. Handling is everything. Didn't stop me from easily winning all the races from 3 playlists and somewhat enjoying some of the Doughnut races, but it certainly hindered the feel of a nice racing experience. Compared with Forza Horizon 5, it's day and night in that respect, where car handling is top notch with a smooth and progressive conicity.
The island feels kind of small, but not a deal breaker per se.
Other things that irritate me a little bit: music tracks can't be skipped during a race (some tunes are really bad); the AI wont stop talking; had to turn both volumes down to 0 in the menu, which means I miss out on the few good tracks.
Graphics are decent on XSX in performance mode, although colour palette is too saturated in general for my taste and too orange at dusk. I get tearing at times, which is distracting and kind of disappointing in this gen of consoles.
All in all, Motorfest is average, not terrible but far from great. Car handling needs further improvement to be really fun to drive, AFAIC. I applaud Ubisoft's attempt to offer an alternative to Forza to the community but they need to raise their game in the handling department.
So far it's a 6/10 for me.
The playlists are ridiculously dumb. Stop forcing me to drive a VW bus in a race that I don’t want to do. At least the crew 2 just gave you a bunch of races and you could use whatever car you wanted. What’s the point of all of these different cars if you’re forced to use a specific one on every race?
I would have gotten this game if this game was offline only single player but I'm a single player guy and I don't like things to be online only

I recently bought it 50% off. It's awful to play....the cars feel like on ice. Graphics are cool but I hate forced to play with ships, planes and offroad. Its zero fun. I've got over 600hrs in NfS Unbound and achieved everything there, it's my fav arcade racer ever made, also with a VERY good progression system.

False micro transaction not required all can be bought in game a bit time consuming around 15 minutes to 30 minutes but, possible. Upgrades aren't buyable they are the loot drop gotten after finishing races it's rng but, lucky perk gives lot's of quality grade loot so again not, mtx. From green to gold and to get gold you have to play on ai difficulty 4 or 5 4 is recommended. Have a decent lucky score around 90 and run few time any races on custom mode chancer are you will be getting gold parts per 7 runs.
It’s a great game and a massive upgrade but it’s sad they missed such basic stuff like working mirrors and license plates

I loved playing Forza horizon 2,3,4 in the day online. I have a feeling the online element of this is gonna be screwed if it relys on crappy upgrades which I assume will benefit those who shell out money or play loads. I could jump on Forza and get a competitive car easily for each category and tailor it to my driving with attainable upgrades/customisation. If I don't have the upgrades in this I feel I will just be on the back foot unless I get my wallet out. I already know the customisation/vehicle balance modification will be non existent or even worse. I hope I'm wrong, because as a PS user now for this gen, I need my forza fix.
That is the crux of it. There is no Horizon parallel in Playstation, and I don't know why Sony is not capitalising on that. A GT Open world would fly off the shelves. This can hold me for the mean time.
The only advantage you get from parts is the legendary ones and you have to grind for the prefix boost you want you can’t buy it with real money. They don’t work in PvP, all PvP cars have the same performance and same prefix part boost. The only thing that’s different is the tune and customization. So you are worried about literally nothing if people researched a little bit about the game they’d know.
This is not "the crew". No Police, no story, no exploration, no "the crew" customization. This is horizon clone... that's it.
I love the boat and plane aspects of the game. I was bummed out when the 2nd one didn't have those races in it. I'm actually super excited for all vehicle types.

So there is nothing to do with your own cars. Has no story. Which is a big thing. The purpose of the entire game is to earn money in playlists (With rented vehicles) and eventually buy a sought after car that serves no purpose. You unlock cars and then what? The game is based on fomo and you cant even do the full summit most of the time. Requires millions of dollars on cars that are required and i dont care to have.

9:20 Sorry to burst your bubble, but those cars are ghosts, not real players. It does give off the illusion that the map is bustling with players, but chase after them and they will disappear into thin air. The more you play this game the more annoying this becomes, especially if you're doing no contact challenges. Cheap heart attacks galore!
This game is currently on sale for $30 on the Playstation Store. I was considering buying the game. After watching this video, it's clear that this game should be avoided . . . even if it was free, I'm not interested. This video review was very informative. Thanks.

My biggest problem with this game is it looks like a forza horizon ripoff with boats and planes. I honestly thought for the first few minutes of your video the game was forza horizon, it has exactly same map in the bottom and text in same places with same colours. But on top of that as somebody who has played the crew 1 and 2 I just cant get behind it you talk about how poor the boat handling and plane handling is (I totally agree) but I feel the car handling isn't that great. In fact I have never liked handling of vehicles in any ubisoft game including tom clancy and far cry games. They feel off and don't react how I expect playing the same cars on other games. I will be skipping this title even though forza horizon is my fave driving series so my interest was peaked. Shame this looks just as bad as other games.

Would’ve been an amazing Game Pass/PS Plus Day 1 Game, but I can’t justify it with all the games out ATM. Sucks about the micro transactions Ubi has been blowing it for too long.

@@coreys6072 Tears of the Kingdom (150 hours in), but I have still yet to play Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Final Fantasy 16, Armored Core 6, and Baulders Gate 3 (plus more if I had time), so there’s no way in hell I’m paying for this game. Plus, I got two years of PS Plus Premium so one or two of these games is bound to show up.

$70 dlc for the crew 2. Kind of a let down. The crew really only had the big map going for it vs the other competition. Now it’s one small island. Yeah nah I’ll pass
I tried the 5 hour free trial and i have never experienced worse racing ever. The handling is a joke. Its unpredictable and basically out of control. Do not buy this if u want to actually race/drive with realistic physics
Dont buy it if you ps4 pro users, only looks good on ps5

Considering you can play forza on gamepass it would be the opposite 😂 but yes forza mechanics are top notch. Best cruising game ever. Actually playing the game and progressing, not so much.
@ActNasty5 Forza 4 and 5 and its extras are always and always have been on game pass have they? I bought them to keep. Also have the crew 1 and 2. Forza is far superior.

I purchased this game using the Ubisoft monthly subscription and I went in with 0 expectations. But I am really impressed with the game. Its really fun to play and competitive. I would say its better than Forza and NFS.
Best part is the grand race where so many people are racing. Its really fun to play
I dont like it compared to the other ones that had better progression that gave you a reason to grind to make your vehicle better or to save up for the next one but this one forces you to use their vehicles most of the time taking away the reason to upgrade and improve your vehicles and to make it worse you can tranfer your vehicle catalogue from crew 2 which when i saw i thought it would be a few vehicles to get you going not the whole lot so i have more than half the vehicles in game from that which makes the game unplayable for me
I kind of like that tho cuz I get to keep the cars from Crew 2, w/out wasting money on cars I've already used a bunch in Crew 2/other games. The downside for me is the liveries don't carry over, at least on a lot of them. But this way I can focus on continuing my car collection from where I left off. But there's not much new to do in Crew 2, so it does kind of take away Crew 2's replayability factor. But one thing I don't like is that certain cars are unavailable to buy, or even test drive that were exclusive vehicles unless you already won them. Which was already a pain cause lots of people probably weren't able to attain them. I found it quite difficult to get the car gifts, cuz oftentimes they were the top prize, and I don't think I ever got top prize. It is very hard to do, especially in that timeframe. And I'm sure lots of people feel the same way. and the tiered rewards, I also didn't get rewards on time, and I rarely pay for in-game items. so some were locked behind paywalls. I wish some of those would have been opened up for purchase in motorfest, or at least winnable.

For the price tag, personally I think it's worth it but it's also on Ubisoft+ and most likely will make its way to Gamepass as well if it follows the normal trajectory of Ubi games. I've been playing at least 8-10 hours a day since early access and not once have I felt the need to even look at the shop or purchase anything - I have been getting enough credits to buy stuff just with normal play. If you want to pad out your car collection to get everything, maybe you will eventually feel the need if you don't want to grind a lot.
Agreed on the boats feeling lackluster, but I feel the planes are fine enough (they're in there, but would be nice to have more interesting races). It's cool that they added wind that can move you around during a race. You can definitely tell they put a TON of effort into the map which is the best map I've ever seen in a video game, but not as much for the activity ui.
I don't think the cr are enough, but I also haven't played a lot yet. It does seem to me grinding will be necessary. But 15k races mostly. Car prices are very high, 400k for a Taycan is ridiculous even for an arcade racer. But look at the playlists, some of them require a vehicle be bought before you can start. half of them costs 200k, the other 400k. So they're forcing you to spend 200k, or 400k to start a group of events, at 15k a pop. 6-8 races, means you won't even make that 200k back so you're losing cr just to play events.
Racing equivalent to what Lies of P and mortal shell are to Dark souls/BB.

The Crew 1 and 2 I pre-ordered, this is the first Crew game that I'm not buying... The original Crew was my favorite, loved the fresh innovation, the story line and police chases, but the Crew Motor Fest was boring. I had the closed beta and wasn't impressed. I'll sit out on this one. I hate that the game is only in one place, I loved traveling to different terrains.

Man, i dont know what to say.
1. What game doesn t have microtransactions, except a few? They are here to stay.
2. To me, it looks like another flavour of Forza Horizon.... No inovation, no nothing. Same shit, over and over, with some ocasional clever new ideas..... I am not talking about this game, but about the industry in general.
3. If the game is not that good, why are people buying it? It is because they are famished? Or just because they buy any iteration of golden shit that appears on the market? I was looking on crew 1 review, and the game had a ~6. There were peoplecomplaining that the world was empty, when actually you had collectibles, achievements and races all over the USA! Now, 10 years later, a game with no structure, no story, just a festival sandbox similar to FH and with an improved handling model than crew 2, which was a meh game, suddendly it s praised. You see the discrepancy? A brand new IP with an original idea had a meh score, and now, a decemt game with a similar idea as everything else in the last 10 years is a 8-9. I don t understand people.
3. About the money rewards, it s a sandbox, i think it s supposed to work that way, the problem is it loses structure, immersion and motivation that way. And it applies to Horizon as well. They are not bad games, but i don t count them as good either. I m having as much fun playing the original, don t ask me why. I miss the times where you had do be good in TDU1 and Pro Street, otherwise you weren t able to finish the game......
