I greatly preferred The Crew 2's map and custom content. Being able to just load up a cross country drive from New York to LA to enjoy the sights and vibe with some friends was just satisfying.

I love this type of content. I feel like most opinions on this game are erroneous because of Ubisoft making The Crew 1 inaccessible (which is a really shitty corpo move of them to make, but that doesn't define Motorfest's worth in any way, it's just Ubisoft being a bad publisher as usual), or simply because I feel like most other content creators in this domain may be biased. But in the first few minutes of watching the video I could absolutely relate to the issues you had with racing games. They just feel soulless at this point, and I was looking for something fun, that takes itself semi-seriously. Your video convinced me to pick it up because of how human and relatable the video felt, so keep going with this type of content my guy. Your content is engaging, it feels like you're watching a human explaining their experience and thoughts on something, not someone who's trying to pitch the game to you.

I owned TC2 but never dove deep into it, was only really a surface player, didn't get far. Ode to my gamer ADHD... But I plan to really check this one out.
Last EDIT: I'm the same as you; idk a ton bout cars and couldn't fix one, outside of changing a tire, windshield wiper fluid, and oil, but I definitely dig racing games ever since I was a kid. And of course I can appreciate a badass ride IRL when I see one.

I think this game is what fun would be. The core genetics of this franchise are focused on fun which I feel is missing even in most arcade games now. Though this has many issues of its own too the crew is really starting to grow on me as it just lets you do “fun stuff”. From the vanities to the online(when working) all seem to have fun and killing boredom in mind

one thing i dont see any reviewers talk about is how good the game is on ps5. The haptics, adaptive triggers, sound through the controller speakers are insane on the dualsense. It is one of the best games I have ever played that truly take full advantage of the controller.

foreal... This game is insane on a ps5, the haptic feedbacks makes me feel like I am really driving a BMW. how the gamepad vibrates when you turn on your engine... Insane

Great editing, audio levels, and essay. You make it seem like you been doing this forever or a professional. Subd. what are your thoughts on playing NFS heat with a wheel? Its actually pretty fun if you view it as an arcade than Sim.
You know honestly I really couldn't get on with the most recent NFS game, since Heat, I'm not sure what it is but the handling just really doesn't feel that great to me unfortunately

Stoked for this game bought it on sale for Black Friday for $40 and was sooo happy. Platinum’d the game in 47 hours…..and tried coming back for the hoonigan dlc beat that in under two hours. That’s it? Not what I expected. I thought this was going to be a horizon killer.

Is there much single player content? I'm considering getting this and am playing the trial but what's putting me off is that the only events I can use JDM cars against AI seems to be in the Japanese playlist. Are there anymore races that I can or is this game primarily multiplayer? I'm not interested in multiplayer stuff so I still don't know if this even for me.
there’s a pretty good amount of singleplayer content. off road playlists, jdm, lamborghini, porsche, drift, hoonigan, F1 cars, electric cars, bikes, planes, boat races, etc
the first car I got in Forza horizon 5 was a lambo... the very car I wanted and i lost all sense of progression on that game then since i had completed it (not really but you know).. this game seem to be a little bit more work and therefor i bought it. :) great review
I would like to see multi plane races. Allow us to turn off nitro boost for everyone in the race, and some helicopters to own and race.
Yeah after completing all the playlists I did notice a lack of plane races, although they definitely aren't my favourite - thanks so much for watching
@AngruPingu There are no plane races in the game. Just time attacks. I'm talking about several planes racing at the same time, able to crash into each other, through checkpoints, just like cars and boats.

Turning off the nitro does effect AI. They dont completely lose their nitro but it barely works for them when its off.
Thanks for the work you put into this review. I think it’s very good. However you didn’t mention what I consider maybe the one feature that sets this game apart from almost every racing game ever released. The replay feature! The versatility that allows you to edit your replays is very cool. Forza is just terrible in this area. Just a few bland, tied to the car cameras. Once I saw this in Fest I was sold. It’s amazing. The only downside is that I don’t see a way to save your replay in-game. Changing the camera types and the ballistics of pans and zooms is very impressive. The only game that I have played that allowed this type of creativity was GTA5. The quality of this feature alone is worth the price of admission.
My main issue with the game is I have had a few server disconnects apart from that I have been enjoying it

You hit every single topic i had in the top of my mind, i definitely turned off the voice dialog and sub tittles and every other talking AI that was making me lose my mind!! Also i got a nit pick with the word Customization! 😅😅 sorry had to do it..

for the wheel / controller part, this game "rewards" you for playing with a wheel, if you look into it they fudged up big time with the controller's (wheel are advantaged by a lot in this game that's what i mean)
Yeah you know what I think you're 100% right, I didn't even consider it, I play a lot of Sim racing games but I'm nowhere near as good there, on top of it being more arcadey it's no wonder it's so much easier, thanks for watching broski
@@AngruPingu On most Sim racing game people are here to become good therefore they are better and it's then harder to beat them where in tcm ... how to put it nicely... rare are the ones who actually try to drive ? if you play grand race you know exactly what i mean haha therefore when you have sim racing experience you are already much better than most in this game, if on top of that you play with a wheel, well good luck to your opponnents lol
For the controller thing basically there is a shity filter that we cannot remove unless we use something to make our game think we are using a wheel which is HIGHLY unfair to those who can't use it, i'd suggest you to watch the video from goliath and simgii if you want to know a little more about why it's so fcked up (especially goliath video)
This is the first racing game thats made me want to continue playing over and over since NFS Underground 2. I was trying to grind through NFS Unbound for a bit and was simply not having fun. The cars look cool but the racing itself is just not fun in that game. Especially when your playlist is so tiny so youre just doing the same 5 races over and over again only to have to pay $50k to enter the big race on Friday. That game was a chore to play. I have only felt good and had a blast while playing The Crew Motorfest. The graphics arent quite as good as Unbound but the driving and racing is exponentially better in every way. Car handling, car sound, race routes are 10 levels above Unbounds tracks, places of interest, not having a cop on every corner, planes, bikes, boats, off road vehicles, off road races, more car options…The list goes on and on.
That Haekos Baelz decal is beautiful.

Great video! Just let us enjoy some of those nice sounds (when you explain sound desgin) next time, without your talk, or atleast less of it. Couldnt't really hear anything. But like I said, otherwise it's a great video!
Btw, if you havent played this game w noise cancelling headphones on then you need to….Its the only way I will play it now. The sounds are unmatched….

It's a very good game! I enjoyed it, it's similar to Forza Horizon.
Who is it a dealbreaker for that in first person view, which hardly anyone uses that the fake driver turns there arms 3 full times which has zero effect on the gameplay and only used when stopped or pretend parking in the game? Nobody that's who.

Bought the best edition of forza horizon 5 for me and my brother as a Christmas gift last year and we only played for maybe 5 hours after the intro. It didn't feel challenging and it was extremely easy to get cars so it wasn't fun. I am thinking to get Motorfest for Christmas this year and was wondering if I should go for Forza 8. Mind you, we mostly drift and I feel like forza has really made drifting playable on the controller, but it seems that Motorfest is the better choice overall. Doesn't seem like there's police in Motorfest anymore which kind of sucks and in the original crew you had a car for every type of race just by pirchasing a single car which doesn't seem to be case in Motorfest. Looks like Motorfest and the crew 2 has lost it's identity which is a bit disappointing because I didn't like anything from forza after Horizon 2 and Motorfest seems like a direct competitor to horizon. The choice between forza 8 and motorfest is hard now 😂
In my opinion you should go for The Crew Motorfest. I tried the free trial and it was so fun.

@@CornBread1245 Yeah, that's what I got. It's on sale right now and by the looks of it, it's been made without purchase of the game itself in mind. Seems more like a Uplay subscription thing than anything. The give you ultimate edition with subscription which kind of makes buying the base game pointless, not only that, but it's also online only so that's another thing. Ohh, and I couldn't customise my character because of connection issues that made me restart the game and start the prologue all over again. They are also shutting down The Crew servers in January 2024. A bit of a bummer because I really enjoyed it. The crate police chases reminded me of Need For Speed World. Had a lot of fun and The Crew felt very balanced. Motorfest seems like a downgrade to it. Probably because they are trying to get in on monetisation, but whatever. The game is alright overall, but not good enough for me. I'll keep on playing Forza 7 even though it's boring after getting everything in the game and having 200million credits to buy the entire 700 cars a few times over...
yep, this game is a direct competitor of FH5 and although it may seem like a knock off of horizon, it’s more fun imo. The graphics, map, race variety, physics, and overall engagement level are all better than forza.
Ivory tower doesn't understand what gravity is tbh, mfers think cars are magnetic and attached to the ground.... crew 2 was BAAAAAD on that, motorfest is an improvement by farrrr
The visual mods are a huge let down in the Horizon games because they alter and typically raise the class of the car to a place where the car becomes irrelevant to use. I understand a wide body kit brings in way better handling but it should not automatically turn a b class car into an a class car without any engine or other performance upgrades
Excellent review video, have been playing console racing games since my introduction 19 years ago with the iconic NFSMW2005, easily the best racing game ever produced.
Replayed that title numerous times.
TCMF is the nearest current gen game to it, the graphics are excellent as is the beautifully created Hawaiian island 🏝️ & vehicles/wraps.
Gameplay is superb, vehicle selection is vast, have imported over a dozen vehicles from TC2 ( which I did not like ).
Only played for 2 weeks as purchased at PS end of 2023 year sale for £19.99.
Have already overcome many complaints of ppl asking whether you can race your own bought & upgraded cars/vehicles, by revisiting playlists just as the game invites you to do in order to complete challenges once the race PL is completed.
Loads of fun, great to challenge oneself with difficulty selection, decent prize money race rewards.
Modern vehicle selection such as 2023 Toyota Supra albeit only available in pre wrap Drift option.
Still an iconic remake, plus first gen Supra available on car roster.
Swap out engine/vehicle upgrades to vastly improve driving mechanics 🧰 as one drives each vehicle longer.
Overall superb game, & great gameplay review.

After 100hrs I'm sick of the handling. Something like gt7 is realistic enough just driving around is fun, drifting is challenging enough to be rewarding, tuning actually matters, performance variety between the cars, everyone just uses the OP cars in every class, the traffic ai/pathing is awful, cars drive off road, across lanes, good luck trying to follow the laws. Hoping solar crown is the game I'm personally wanting.
Yeah I am really excited for solar crown, If it's good I think It will beat Motorfest for me too. And yeah the ai is pretty ass
Story is just sad. There is 2 drag races in story. Whoever was thinking racing drift vs normal is fun should quit making games. This game have so much potential that is unused it makes me angry . Give me back money for last 3 the crew games
It's a pretty nice game but almost worse at everything from the Crew 2 imo.

@@AngruPingu I can make a two hour video about this. xD I will tell my biggest complains for Motorfest though. First after a while they stopped caring for some reason and didn't give you a reason to finish first or at least third in playlists, they became just trips not races and you get the same amount of money for them. Most of the races in playlists don't let you use your own car for your first time and online free roam doesn't let you touch other players' cars like in The Crew 2. Again there are way more staff to talk about, like that the map is wayyyy smaller than Crew 2 and Crew 2' map was as detailed as this one but with more variety. Crew 2 had more special vehicles and more races for them like hovercrafts, more places to shop from and a better place to customize them, your own house.
@@AngruPingu Also I really liked that I can transfer my old cars from Crew 2 to Motorfest but don't like that they present many of them as new content.

That sounds sick, I do love the idea of having such a fucking huge map like in crew 2, I had just heard it was a lot of open empty space but I've also heard it was detailed, I'm just a sucker for open world cities too, all the extras are nice as well like having a house, something that's sorely missing from motorfest.
I didn't find the races were too bad in motorfest, I thought a lot of them were fun races and most of them you need to come at least in a podium finish, but yeah there are a few like the scenic tour where you only need to finish the race, it's so damn boring
Maybe after a few years they'll add the stuff they had in the crew 2, but either way imma go play the trial for crew 2 now 😂

@@AngruPingu After many hours (Most of them in ps4 so I dont know how many) sometimes I just join crew 2 to explore the map and I still haven't seen everything. I don't actively try to explore everything though.

I will agree Crew's Map is significantly and exponentially better than Horizon 5.
One thing no youtuber talks about is Car Progression - how easy it is to obtain new cars.
In Forza throws cars at you, Crew is worse than a drip feed.
Crew feels like 1 step forward, 2 steps back. They still can turn it around easily. Question will always be would they want to.
What does the rarity of a part have to do with upgrades being meaningful?
Are you seriously suggesting that a legendary part for example isn't meaningful or something? Because that's just not true is it mate lmao
And yeah there's a bit of a difference between being rewarded with parts for the class of car you're driving, VS being gifted the best super car in the entire game from a random roll given to you after every single mission
The way Forza just gives you cars is horrible, you're just given new cars for doing pretty much nothing at all, no sense of achievement in Forza to be found. (Which I did actually discuss in the video btw)
@@AngruPingu I am saying it isn't meaningful, because its only linear upgrades. With Forza you have actual meaningful upgrades. Where sometimes you don't want top shelf parts, each part has a purpose and simply putting the most power isn't useful.
In Crew? Just pick the highest color and perks you want.

I played 3hrs of it on my high end 4090 PC and it still looked like garbage graphically
Too bad The Crew gave up their unique identity to become a Forza clone(smh)and i hate being forced to drive certain cars,this game try too hard to be Forza,and I'm over the Forza formula,Crew 2 better

This game is dead! Dominated by cross platform cheaters. Worst thing to ever happen in gaming was allowing loosers who don't see outside Downloading victories into gaming pcs. Enjoyed the game until it became download macros to win!!!
Why is Nobody talking about the fact that you cant barely use your own cars and are forced to play with the Shitty cars the Game decides thats such a bad feature for me cause i just want to go out my Tuned cars and when i cant do that why have them then 🥹
