I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it before but what makes Kevin's tutorials even better is the fact that there's no distracting or irritating background music! Thanks Kevin!
Even professional movies have irritating droning music, they have no idea how frustrating it is. Most times I just switch off. If I use music it is only seconds , dancing excluded.
There is so much fluff on RUclips help videos its an absolute pleasure to find someone who not only knows the answers to many vexing questions - but you also explain it wonderfully. Thank you.
Kevin, at the risk of sounding corny, I have learned more from your videos since "discovering" you here in RUclips, than I did in high school when computers were still devices the aliens left behind. This imcludes the current "intro to computer applications" course I am taking now since returning to college after 35-years. Keep up the amazing tutorials my friend!! Thank you.
I didn't know about this method. It's really good. What I did 5 years ago was scan my signature on a white paper, took it to Photoshop and extracted it as a PNG file. I'm always using it now
Im soon 50 years old, worked with officepack all life and have had , still have several courses with datalearning. Got damn I have reach a new higher level in coursing, thanx to U!! this really helps me! who knew i can just get my electronic signature from onenote only! all that struggle to edit previously using online website etc geez.. im thankful i got a tab bc handwritten signature is much easier for me. i should really explore more about onenote.. who knows it could help me for my studies and exams. thank you sm Kevin!
using Google Keep will do it a LOT better, faster and quicker than Microsoft OneNote. no need for Sections > Pages > bla-bla-bla detour. as for Kevin, you remain MY NUMBER ONE tutor on RUclips, your content and explanations are SECOND to NONE, outstanding !! 👌👌
I watched this video as part of my paralegal studies program. Excellent video on presentation and explaining the various methods of electronic signature. I knew the PDF method didn't know the Microsoft office method. Thank!!!!
Hi Kevin, very nice video indeed. Well done! Here's another trick you may add to your toolbox when scanning hand written signatures. We used it years back on an multi-function-device in the office with a rather low scanning resolution. Instead of writing on the back of a business card, we used a regular printer page and a rather thick pen. This way you basically scan in more pixels for enhanced optical resolution. And when shrinking the scanned image to the regular signature size, you'll get a lot more pixels per inch, while the thick pen just appears as a thin line. Thus, much better resolution on the monitor or the printer. Note: The effect is obviously less when 'scanning' on the cell phone, as the photo taken is of a fixed size/resolution. However, you still benefit from taken the scan/photo at a 'convenient' (optical) distance and don't rely on the 'macro' features of your cell phone camera when getting to close to the object.
Such an amazing and informative youtube video, I can't thank you enough. It's still a struggle for me but has gotten me a lot closer to sign a document for a job application that I need to do.. Thank you so much!!!
That's ok. I prefer to edit the signature in a photo editor, create transparency and remove the background then save as PNG. This way the signature looks realistic without that white box around it. Takes a little more time but allows you more flexibility to sign even on different color paper, over text or images without affecting the original document.
I always wanted to learn how to make a digital or an electronic signature. That tutorial was great. Best of all, it came from no better person than a Microsoft expert. Since I have no smartphone with a camera, I wrote my signature on paper and scanned it to my computer. I saved it as a picture file. I hope to make the off-white background white.
This video has helped to easily understand how I use Electronic signature. I had this problems for signing a file and then scanning it but from today it will be easier for me to use these easy and helpful methods you have taught us in this video. I am so grateful to you Mr. Kevin for the easy way you make us understand your beneficial videos and I am always stay connected with you channel and surely it deserves to be stay connected with your channel. I watch and like to every video you upload. Thank for helping me understand your tutorials. I appreciate the work you are doing for us!!!
@@KevinStratvert Hey Kevin, i am currently trying to change the color of my signaure in one note, on my desktop, however, when i click the black pen, it just gives me a pointer to start drawing over the signature i brought over from my iphone, but it does change the color. there is no drop down either, and yes i have the signature selected. Any help here? i am using the newest onenote update..!

Kevin Stratvert is a RUclips God. Amazing video A few days ago I was searching how to sign a document for my school assignment. Thanks RUclips god (Kevin)
Kevin, I know you did note the difference between digital and electronic signatures. It’s important to note that this electronic signature is nothing but an image, which means the recipient can easily extract it and use it too. And no one can tell the difference between their copy and your original.
This has been a feature on Macs for over 10 years. I did all of the signatures on real estate purchase without printing out a single document in 2012. Can't believe this is still a thing.
Do not know about the first method-as not coordinated enough to sign on phone-but the second method has a background which must be removed when using the signature on a document of a different color, or if the signature must overlie text or lines. As you show, is better to take a pix of the written sig vs scanning. Got here from your Very Helpful discussion on OO-Draw (which I did NOT know would do PDFs). Thanks
Great video, it really helped clarify how to set up signature could you also make one on digital ID please as could not find one as good as your videos online
I don't have Paint (I'm on a Mac) but I found a work-around by copying it into the Desktop version of PowerPoint and right clicking and saving it as a picture.
quick tip in paint: change the size of the canvas and then you don't have to resize when your inserting, click select show canvas, then lock aspect ratio and resize image with canvas, type in width 135px then save as. I save the original in full size and then save the small scaled version so I have both
Thanks. I am not good at signing on my phone but have done a version of taking a picture of my signature, editing it and then using it to sign documents, primarily .pdfs for work. A problem I had run into was when the background covered up part of a signature line or other words. There was a tutorial for using the free, open source Gimp program to delete all of the background, including within loops on things like a lower case L or a g and so on. It works great. I'm not sure if the technique you so ably described above will do that, or perhaps if your video on how to remove a photo background would, but I highly recommend it. Perhaps it is not needed in the Office programs, but it was for a little .pdf editing tool I use. Btw, even removing the background didn't help in some cases for me. It made the parts without a background white, and that covered up anything it was over, such as a line. I forgot the way that it is done in Gimp, but saving it as a transparency in a .png file is the only way to make it work flawlessly everywhere. Thanks again for your videos They are well done... good editing, nice lighting and sound.
I would appreciate you covering how to make the background translucent for when I need to put my signature on to a document with a color other than white.
Love this explaination, as usual I've learnt a lot. It would be great if you could add how to make the signature transparent, so that a box doesn't appear when adding it to a coloured background. Keep up the fab work! 😊
Many ways, but believe it or not, you can use *PowerPoint* to make the background transparent (see "Set transparent color") and then export the picture to PNG format.
This is great. I wish you would have included instructions to make the background transparent do that when you sign forms that have lines to place your signage. If there is a background it may not match the background of the document.
Hey, I didnt know you could handwrite in onenote, thanks. Just an FTI, on android, if you press the pen tool then press and hold the pen option in the toolbar, aftera couple of seconds it brings up a colour palette to choose from. Im ssuming its the same on ios
Hi Kevin trying to follow you on this video Electronic signature. Downloading was fine with androids i got lost following you afterwards. I have to keep trying . but thanks again for showing me. I wish I could just sit down there and raise my hand when I cannot follow you anymore. Thanks again.
When creating your digital signature you should do something that differentiates it from your normal signature. Something that sticks out to you and that is obvious enough that you could use to prove to someone that it is your digital signature. That way if it ever ends up on a document that you do not want it on, you can know and prove that it is your e signature.
Awsome Video Kevin...congrats on the move to your company....It may be helpful in the scanned signature portion how to create a transparent background for the scanned signature so the "signature stamp" could be inserted into a document without blocking out the signature lines when signing pdf forms. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Great Job, Kevin but the main caveat I see is the following: If you create a signature and paste it in .docs files you would share or an email to be sent, others will be able to use your signature with your consent ....
I sure could have used this tutorial for medical, financial and helping family with birth, death and marriage docs. I use acrobat reader for forms but I'll check out using microsoft word for letters. Thank you.
