Those eyes are truly horrifying. I've always found big, staring round eyes to be more scary than the more stylized and thin "sinister slits". The round eyes of this monster just scream out madness somehow. Awesome paintjob as always!
The majority of my collection is games workshop, mainly due to availability. So the more varied set of figures you paint the better, let the world see what else is out there. Keep up the good work.
Same for me, and i didnt really find good model to get too. If i order them online, it's always from another country so the whole price cost me so much more than just random Warhammer box. So i stick to gameworkshop product, because i got a store in my city :/ Even Star Wars legion miniature cost more than a box of Warhammer in my city :/
What I like most about this, is that it shows a clear love of "effective and efficient" techniques without losing any of the passion towards skillful understanding. I absolutely love that you were able to do this! It obviously looks even easier then that with the way you shot it, but its such an inspiring way that appeals to me very deeply.
I LOVE this paintjob. I've seen a lot of Crimson Crocs on the internet lately but yours is by far my favorite. You've inspired me to paint mine similar to yours, which is saying a lot because I've been carefully pondering how to paint this spectacular monstrosity.
The way you painted it isn't creepy, it's more of a creature that will show pretty colors to you with its scales/skin. And once you get caught in the beauty of it, it'll devour you. I love it.
I'll just come out and say it upfront. I do not play Warhammer 40k at all. But I am happily here watching your videos for painting insight. Personally I have a massive amount of Shadows of Brimstone stuff to paint and often a lot of it does not fit into Warhammer at all. But that does not mean I can't learn from you. I love your style NinJon and I am grateful for the work you put in.
Hell yes Kingdom Death! This is probably my favorite paintjob I've seen for a model from this game, well done. Also: I too am a masochist about this game. Love the grim reality of losing a survivor and somehow still winning with only one person left and the settlement going on without them.
I LOVE seeing how you and others paint KDM models. I'm still wading through the base game which was purchased late last year and wish I'd known about the game years ago. The Croc looks great, and I look forward to seeing more from you!
I just got my Gambler's Chest yesterday! I LOVE KDM so much and got in that Kickstarter in the first 15 minutes. Every time I see you wearing a KDM T-shirt I am so happy. I now am seriously torn between painting my overly ambitious Tyranids army, and my overly ambitious Kingdom Death minis. What a problem to have.
I LOVE Kingdom Death and can't wait for the Gambler's Chest to show up. The huge monsters are a blast to paint and making custom survivors based off of your current gear load-out is addictive.
Two things. Love the transition from narration to sped up painting footage heralded by the ring-in. Hawt. Second, clown fiesta can be horrifying. This thing looks like a poorly taxidermied horse nightmare when I theoretically have hit my alleged threshold of mind altering uhmmm...Minecraft.
One of your best paintjobs so far. Absolutely love the mood. I always find our best jobs as miniature painters are the ones where you let loose and see what happens. Kudos, love it.
I absolutely love Kingdom Death Monsters, however I've never played it yet. However I do have all of the first wave with gamblers chest coming and im really excited!! Your take/ paint job of the Crimson Crocodile has been my favorite so far out of all of the ones I've seen.
As a paramedic I have seen some terrifying dogs in my time, the most aggressive (only ones I've actually been bitten by) are the little geriatric chihuahua's. I think this one has a little bit of that terrifying geriatric chihuahua in their face, the tongue and snout and eyes just seem to give it that vibe. For real though, I love the colors and lessons taught here, another win from Ninjon!
Your technique is masterful! But the best part of this is your imagination an creativity. I would never have painted it this way. This is why I watch your channel 😊
I really thought the Croc was one of the derpiest KDM models along with ahegao Atnas, but your paint job really changed my mind on it. Brilliant use of colour.
Hey Jon, I found your stuff a few months ago. I originally wasn't a too interested with your non-40k stuff and your non-GW style but you wore me down and I've watched all your stuff. I've learned a lot by seeing your varied approaches and your commentary is entertaining and informative. Love your stuff, keep it up.
I see people over and over in love with KDM models. I like the style and … adultness?… of KDM, but the scarcity and price tag is off putting even more than GWs false scarcity business model. Great video! I loved the color combos and it looked marvelously restorative and freeing to layer up the highlights by doing color combinations of the crazy base tones you laid down with the airbrush. Brilliant. I’ll definitely try this sometime! Thank you!
Really cool paint scheme! I think you got the feeling right, especially with the eyes! 2 things missing though: 1 - uv resin on the eyes! Make them shiny! 2- some uhu slobber dripping from teeth and tongue!! THEN it would be the creepiest thing. Maaaaybe some blood splatters. Nuat maybe. Good job!
My brother bought the Cthulhu Death May Die boardgame as a gift for some friends and I've been helping him paint the figures for it, it's such a liberating change of pace from the GW style models that emphasize edges for easy highlighting and stuff, to just put a wacky underpainting on a big monster and riff on the highlights, it's really fun. Also, that paint scheme and some of the line quality looks very reminiscent of mural artist Kiptoe there, Jon. I like it a lot 👌
I'm usualy full of Gin, and the only thing that frightens me is the whispers in the dark..... OH! and running out of Gin. Some great ideas there. Must get back to slaying the ......erm... white metal.
I love that signature set, dude. The Vince one too. I sorta had to get both. I have no complaints about any of the paints and I'll probably be getting more Pro acryl in the future.
Haven't played the game but since the release date I've had so many 1.6 box sets commissioned to paint. I know how to put the models together by heart at this stage.
Idea for a video... choose a subscriber at random to send you a mini they painted to give pointers to and then build on their paint job to show how it could end up using the suggestions you give... no stripping and re-starting ..only adding and refining.
What a great paint job. You really captured the "chromatic" look of it, like I'm looking at a car with a chromatic wrap on it. Personally, I would have leaned into both it's aquatic and corpse like aspects. At the tail end, and the finger ridges having a rotting flesh kind of look, with little bit of metallic in there to sell the fish scales, and then slowly blended to a pallid sickly red towards the face.
I have greedily guzzled up every scrap of content for gambler's chest, from playthroughs to painting and this is the best so far. I've been playing, on and off, for a few years but missed out on the initial kickstarted. This interpretation of what I agree is the best model in the expansion is inspired. I know my skills are nowhere near yours but i feel so inspired to try to incorporate some of your ideas and techniques now. I'm not home at the moment, heading down to that there London for the greatest wrestling show ever but, as soon as I get back next week, I'm slaying some grey ninjon-esque style hopefully.
Wonderful job! Realy amazing!! I also take three pin-ups from this kickstarter and... never take a kickstarter when collect so much money! It's too big, too delay...
I would love to see you try building a Tamiya model. They blow GW out of the water in quality and come together so smoothly and seamlessly that it almost feels like they don't need glue.
I kept worrying that you weren’t going to paint the eyes but you came through in the end! It wasn’t horrifying but I love your play on light and dark. The fingers are sort of non-descript but it would be weird if you painted them all fleshy. Overall, nice work!
Channeling Sergio Calvo big time, I'm always amazed at how easily he's able to get incredible models with an interesting base tone and some lines. Seeing the brush strokes bring those base tones to life was awesome to watch!
I absolutely love KDM! Great to see you do some content on it! Trying to get something together myself to play a campaign at the Source with Mr. Malson. Should get Scott to try it out too!
Love the video. Hope we get to see some more KDM stuff. Ive got serious GW video burnout and am looking around for anything like KDM or Conquest or Crisis Protocol/Shatterpoint. I can't watch another space marine being painted for a while.
Amazing paint job on the Croc! I'm quite new to KDM but have just received my Gamblers chest. Really excited to get him built and painted after watching this :)
Have you played through any core campaigns yet? I'd highly recommend doing that before diving in to PotDK, but if you can't resist the urge you should know that PotDK is FANTASTIC! (We're on LY20 about to face the Gambler for the first time).
Excellent take on the Crimson Croc! I'm not sure if it is the most awesome mini in the chest though. The Gambler and the Godhand are amazing as well. Perhaps you could do one of those in the coming weeks?
I know this is an older video, but another great set of mini's to get a hold of are the ones from Dungeons and Lasers. I've got a few and I gotta say, they have been some of the best mini painter experiences I've had. They are also very affordable too.
love how it turned out, so much better than the boring muted tones of all the ones I have seen, would love to see some more KD videos or even some game sessions with Miniac
I’d love to see the table setup when you paint something like this with the airbrush. It’s not just a quick squirt of paint, seems to a pretty long time of working with the airbrush. I guess there is some air filtration, or fume-removal around.
Amazing. When you said about the paint test on the hand I just looked at mine and it looks like unicorn vomited on it. Had like 25 lines of 15 colors on it. :) Thank you for the videos, I can tell that 90% my skills and passion for painting minis comes from you and Duncan.
Ok wtf. When I saw this model in your Wednesday Patreon vid, I thought you actually used metallic paints to get that highlighting. I didnt know you manually defined the light source with paint... wow! I love this thing. It is absolutely amazing to me.

I love kingdom death as much as you do. Maybe even more. :)
no
I'd like to see you paint a phoenix KDM model
You waited 7 years for these models. In 7 years from now, I expect to see a video of you showing off the whole set, painted. Good luck!
Those eyes are truly horrifying. I've always found big, staring round eyes to be more scary than the more stylized and thin "sinister slits". The round eyes of this monster just scream out madness somehow. Awesome paintjob as always!
Easily one of my FAVORITE minis you've painted!! Please make a series painting more Kingdom Death monsters!!
The model and your painting looks amazing!
I would love to see more videos of other Kingdom Death Models being painted in the future.
The majority of my collection is games workshop, mainly due to availability. So the more varied set of figures you paint the better, let the world see what else is out there. Keep up the good work.
Same for me, and i didnt really find good model to get too.

So i stick to gameworkshop product, because i got a store in my city :/
Even Star Wars legion miniature cost more than a box of Warhammer in my city :/
I love seeing painters tackle KD:M minis! Not a lot of people doing that. Love your rendition of the Croc!
What I like most about this, is that it shows a clear love of "effective and efficient" techniques without losing any of the passion towards skillful understanding. I absolutely love that you were able to do this! It obviously looks even easier then that with the way you shot it, but its such an inspiring way that appeals to me very deeply.
It's weirdly beautiful and absolutely horrifying at the same time. A really cool sculpt and an awesome paint job!
I LOVE this paintjob. I've seen a lot of Crimson Crocs on the internet lately but yours is by far my favorite. You've inspired me to paint mine similar to yours, which is saying a lot because I've been carefully pondering how to paint this spectacular monstrosity.

You are a legend ! Any KDM painting videos are more than welcome. Keep up the fantastic work ! Still awaiting my treasure trove to arrive
Hell yes Kingdom Death! This is probably my favorite paintjob I've seen for a model from this game, well done.
Also: I too am a masochist about this game. Love the grim reality of losing a survivor and somehow still winning with only one person left and the settlement going on without them.
This is one of your best Jon. I love Kingdom Death! Please paint more of the Gamblers Chest!
Sergio Calvo slashing and glazing going on!! Huge fan of this style of painting!! Keep up the amazing work!
I LOVE seeing how you and others paint KDM models. I'm still wading through the base game which was purchased late last year and wish I'd known about the game years ago. The Croc looks great, and I look forward to seeing more from you!
That looks incredible. You have to show as much of that game as possible. It looks cool as all heck, Mister.
Hope you do more videos on KDM minis, especially the character models from the Gamblers Chest.
It looks like a happy lil monster that always can lend a hand in your journey. Love it!
Please keep doing more things outside of GW, I LOVE these ones so much!
That base color really turned out amazing. Truly captures that idea of this thing jump out of the shadows into an unexpecting camp,
So weird connection - but the unsettling eyes reminds me of the Australian tv show “The Ferals”
Great paint job as always!
We just beat the prologue for GCE, loved it! New stuff looks like fun to play with. Hope you keep doing more KDM figures. Awesome work!
16:40 I feel like a clown fiesta might be some people's soul-staring nightmares.
Fantastic! I'm totally new to KDM and love your description of the aesthetic. Would love to see more videos on this.
The eyes really really, really make it, I wasnt sure, at first, but they came together so amazingly well!!
The sleeve is looking great Jon! Cant wait to see it finished!
Dude your use of light on this is astoundingly good. I LOVE IT.
Best KDM paint EVER! Please do more!!! I'm tired of all-the-same GW paints... you rock!
So good to see KDM! Love the paint job JON!
Love the colors on this thing Jon. Such a sick nightmare of a creature. Reminds me of that gross sea slug looking thing. I love this colorful style.
Never played Kingdom Death but the mini's do look ace. Would be awesome to see more stuff painted
Amazing paint job on this 1. Not a clown festa, but not super scary freaky. I love it thought..
I absolutely love Kingdom Death Monsters, however I've never played it yet. However I do have all of the first wave with gamblers chest coming and im really excited!! Your take/ paint job of the Crimson Crocodile has been my favorite so far out of all of the ones I've seen.
I really like it, it reminds me of the sculpts from North of the Boarder. The tongue and eyes just need a gloss coat. Wonderful job.

Your technique is masterful! But the best part of this is your imagination an creativity. I would never have painted it this way. This is why I watch your channel 😊
I love the paint scheme, the only comment of criticism or how I would try doing it different is the detailing of the hands along the back.
I really thought the Croc was one of the derpiest KDM models along with ahegao Atnas, but your paint job really changed my mind on it. Brilliant use of colour.
This paint job got me pumped! Awesome technique and color theory, kick butt! Thanks Jon.
As I'm a board gamer and not a tabletop wargamer, I would love to see more board game mini painting.
Hey Jon, I found your stuff a few months ago. I originally wasn't a too interested with your non-40k stuff and your non-GW style but you wore me down and I've watched all your stuff. something about his painting style just makes my brain smile and it's always so exciting whenever he comes out with a new video
Amazing job on the mini! It looks like a demon that is about to change color (or those kaijus charging up a blast from their mouth)
Great Croc! I love the lantern light. Please do more KDM videos, as I have only just started with this beast.
I'm usualy full of Gin, and the only thing that frightens me is the whispers in the dark..... OH! and running out of Gin. Some great ideas there. Must get back to slaying the ......erm... white metal.
It's great. Good combo of vividity and horror. This would be a good style for anything tzeentch.
I love that signature set, dude. The Vince one too. I sorta had to get both. I have no complaints about any of the paints and I'll probably be getting more Pro acryl in the future.
Yup, me too. Jon & Vince’s sets were like the pro acryl gateway drug..
Haven't played the game but since the release date I've had so many 1.6 box sets commissioned to paint. I know how to put the models together by heart at this stage.
Thats an amazing Paint job. I think I may have to try this for my Kingdom Death Monster. Love the game too.
That's bloody incredible Jon. Great work.
Hell yeah , KDM from Ninjon, I’ve been hoping you’d make videos for these.
Just got the chest myself and defo starting with the croc
Awesome paint job. Definitely creepy. And yes I love KDM! Gambler's Chest just showed up and Croc just put together.
Idea for a video... choose a subscriber at random to send you a mini they painted to give pointers to and then build on their paint job to show how it could end up using the suggestions you give... no stripping and re-starting ..only adding and refining.
Love kdm! Please continue painting the monsters!😊
What a great paint job. You really captured the "chromatic" look of it, like I'm looking at a car with a chromatic wrap on it.

Beautiful model, glorious paint job. Great work man x
LOVE KDM! Actually will be starting a Dream Keeper campaign tomorrow!

The colouration reminds me of a lot of the DND 2e art, looks great!
A Kingdom Death Monster painting video? Yes, please! ❤
"Almost as crisp as GW" I mean, hard not to be crisp if all you mostly release is thousands of "different but same" space marines
Great job with all of the colors you used to paint this monster.
Love the colour on this one!
Great painting Jon. That looks fantastic. 👍🏻
I would love to see you try building a Tamiya model. They blow GW out of the water in quality and come together so smoothly and seamlessly that it almost feels like they don't need glue.

Channeling Sergio Calvo big time, I'm always amazed at how easily he's able to get incredible models with an interesting base tone and some lines. Seeing the brush strokes bring those base tones to life was awesome to watch!
I feel it's so colourful that it looks very goofy now 😂 I love it, i want it as a pet ❤ Clown Fiesta is a great name for it
I absolutely love KDM! Great to see you do some content on it! Trying to get something together myself to play a campaign at the Source with Mr. Malson. Should get Scott to try it out too!

I’m just painting him now!!! I love it!
Just got my Gambler's Chest too! Would leave to see more KDM painting stuffs from ya! Great work!
Thing looks like it is climbing out of the depths of a nightmare into the light to drag you back into where it came from.
Please paint more KDM monsters! These minis are so so cool.
Omg I agree, the fingers on the back didn’t need to be individual pieces. But please paint up the gambler with the ball
Those eyes.. they will haunt me forever!
Great job. I think the chromatic horror wibe is a success!
Love the KDM content, the paintjob looks great!
Sweet damn, Jon! That spin shot really shows you nailed the iridescent look you were going for. Wowzers!
Loving the alternative model sculpts as the subject for your videos. Keep these coming!
Hands down my favorite mini you have painted, pun intended..... Bravo
Man thats such a sick paintjob.
Looks great! Please do more GC videos - I would love to see you tackle the gambler
Ok wtf. When I saw this model in your Wednesday Patreon vid, I thought you actually used metallic paints to get that highlighting. I didnt know you manually defined the light source with paint... wow! I love this thing. It is absolutely amazing to me.
