Most people think she would match Chester, C'mon dude this is a woman not Chester, Chester is no more but She's keeping alive the legacy of Chester in her own voice, RESPECT that.
I tried to give her a chance but this ain't it. I know that no one will ever be like Chester so there is no point in comparing. Even still this was too blank to me, her singing style was just too different from Chesters. This sounded more like a cover, another versions of these songs, not because her voice is obviously different but how she sang it. She should stay true to the right technique at least. I get why some would like this and this is just my opinion. I get the perspective of the band why they wanted to start again. But to be honest I'm kind of sad about her performance.

But I think the problem was that she couldn't keep up the presence at max at all times, and that's something she can improve on. So I think she will be even better than what she already is and the proble definiently wasn't her voice or that she couldn't scream well enough. The audio in this live recording is the best I've heard so far! Her voice at 3:13 and 3:21 - the fact that she can pull off 'Face myself' and 'Erase myself' - and how well Katie does the harmonies is giving me goosebumps. I'm looking forward to the release. It feels like the '90s are back! I'd buy a studio recording version of the concert's tracks in a heartbeat (In addition to the new album)

Her interpretation of 'Lost' is absolutely great. Some other songs showed up recently didn't catch me immediately. But I see potential for the future. The fact that they choose a female singer was really unexpected. But that's what real artists tend to do.

Something i just realized about the solo performance of Lost and What I've Done. Mike chose for her specifically to sing those two songs as a way to tell her story. I honestly think that those songs are symbolic, they indicate that she isn't the person that people are giving her shit for being in her past. This is just a guess, but i think Lost hints at her being born into Scientology and then leaving it behind, and What I've Done relates to her supporting Danny Masterson as a friend before distancing herself from him after finding out that he was guilty. She's using music to tell her story, just like Chester did. I don't think that Mike and the other members didn't know about this. It sounds to me that based on the song choices, they're choosing to give her a chance, as if to say, yes, what she did in her past was fucked up, but no one is one-dimensional, as if they can't be different for what they were known for. Also, to those judging Emily, something to know is that, as a cult, if you speak out against Scientology, people come after your family, try to cancel you, etc. Look at Leah Remini, former actress who played Carrie in The King of Queens. She was a former Scientologist who left because of how sick the church was, and if memory serves me right, people went after her for speaking out. Emily may be gone from the church but doesn't want to announce it for fear of people coming after her and her family. Don't be so quick to judge others, we don't know what someone else is dealing with.

This is just a guess, but i think Lost hints at her being born into Scientology and then leaving it behind, and What I've Done relates to her supporting Danny Masterson as a friend before distancing herself from him after finding out that he was guilty. She's using music to tell her story, just like Chester did. I don't think that Mike and the other members didn't know about this. It sounds to me that based on the song choices, they're choosing to give her a chance, as if to say, yes, what she did in her past was fucked up, but no one is one-dimensional, as if they can't be different for what they were known for.
Also, to those judging Emily, something to know is that, as a cult, if you speak out against Scientology, people come after your family, try to cancel you, etc. Look at Leah Remini, former actress who played Carrie in The King of Queens. She was a former Scientologist who left because of how sick the church was, and if memory serves me right, people went after her for speaking out. Emily may be gone from the church but doesn't want to announce it for fear of people coming after her and her family.
Don't be so quick to judge others, we don't know what someone else is dealing with.
