Proud owner of an 05 997.1S, nothing beats the feeling of squeezing the throttle whilst coming out of a bend and feeling that rear end pitch down and stick to the road
I am getting a 997.1 as my retirement gift to myself next month. It's my dream car and I am thankful to be a master mechanic. Yes, cash is the way to go on these cars. Yes, if something breaks, fix it!!!
@@MagicAyrtonforever I understand completely - for some of us, the mid-engined magic of the Caymans and Boxsters is more important than the heritage and rear engine of the Carreras.
I have a 997 Carrera S and have had it since I was a kid. My father enjoyed driving it and I always enjoyed riding in it. I'm glad that now I have been driving it.
Sameer, one key point that you made and resonates to me, a fellow Porsche owner. The car is meant to be driven, I also have paint chips and dust from driving my Cayman. Porsches are great cars that are meant to be driven, period!
That’s 997 poetry. Couldn’t have describe or have said it any better. The 997 is the last analog/mechanical 911. The design is also the last to it’s true form since the newer ones are slightly larger. Video is poetry in motion. Well done!
I have a Boxster 981S PDK and 997.1 2S Carrera with manual gearbox. Every time I drive the Carrera I really enjoy its mechanical /analog feel, the manual transmission and the hydraulic steering, the driving is much less filtered than that of the 981. For me it is a modern classic.
Great video. I saw it before getting my 997.1 and now share the same excitement about this model. Wonderful car, great for everyday use, even during the Costa Rican rainy days!
I've had the pleasure of 997.1 Carrera 4 S (PDK) and 991.2 GT3 (Manual), what I took away from the GT3 especially, was that even the non-GT cars are engaging. I would definetly consider a 997 in the future.
I absolutely agree. When you have something like a Porsche, you drive it. You don’t park it & look at it like it’s a museum piece. Although the Porsche is a piece of art, it’s art you use. If I owned a Porsche or Ferrari or a Mustang GT500, I’m driving it. I would be on constant road trips.
Just bought a 2005 997 C2 and can't wait driving it on German Autobahn. It's not so much about being fast but the unique feeling driving a Porsche! But I must admit I'll miss my Boxster which introduced me to the Porsche universe.
I’m lucky and blessed to own a 997 C2S convertible with manual transmission. It’s my first high performance car. It’s my first convertible. My first Porsche and it’s a car that I’ll keep for as long my age allows me. After all, we are only custodians of these magnificent machines.
Thanks very much great video you have a great speaking voice which really helps when you're trying to listen to something that you're quite passionate about I would really like a Porsche 911, I'm also a music producer from the UK,
OMG. I was 25 years old when I bought my 997 Carrera 4 '06. I also have 2 pugs!!! I kept her for two years, unfortunately I had no more money to keep her... I miss her so much! 💔 watch my videos with her! Bye a girl from Switzerland 👋
If I owned a 911R, I’d be the one guy in the world to drive it regularly. It’s not a sculpture, it’s one of the greatest driving Porsches ever, so I’d use it for what it’s made for, dammit.
Great video and story. I would like to submit my 997 Porsche story but only have camera on my phone. So I will need to find a local video company to creat and edit a worthy production of my story, which was a lengthy journey.
Porsche, please tell the difference between 996.2 Carrera 325 Hp and 997.1 Carrera 325 Hp. I cannot not decide which one to buy( First one is less weight, same 0-100, Nurburgring 997 is of course faster, but maybe different options, tires etc. Help me
As the saying goes...”buy the latest model 911 you can afford”. That’s why I waited(7 years) until the 997.2 (no IMS issue) prices came down and recently purchased my first 911!
@@frankarmstrong689 incorrect. The 996.1 has the smaller dual row IMSB. They went to the less reliable smaller single row in 996.2 which carried forward to 997.1 cars built up to early 2006. Easily upgraded to aftermarket bearing, such as LN, best being the LN Solution, which has its own oil feed. The later 997.1 cars had the larger single row which fails only extremely rarely but has the disadvantage of being fitted inside the crankcase requiring the case to be opened to replace.
Does Sameer knows that my brand new 2019 made in Slovakia Cayenne has got 5 production defects in less than 10 month? Probably he doesn’t.....but Porsche does!

The 997 still remains my favorite 911 to this day, they're perfectly shaped.
I have a 997 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. I love this car. I’ll never sell it.
I had a Gen 1 Carrera S - Sold it for a Cayman 987.2 never looked back.

Get a clear bra aka ppf on the front and you will never see another paint chip again.

Such amazing story telling! I love my 997!
Which one do you have??
He has the right attitude about owning and driving a car. Not sure I would wear a "You're Dead" hat around L.A. though....
I owned 997 C2S, she is my first 🚘
I love that the fur babies are in it! 🐶💙
I loved seeing that, too. This is an advantage that the 911s have over the Cayman.

No such thing as a 997.1 PDK. The PDK was introduced in the 997.2 gen.

Nice story and great car to drive. It’s always an experience. I’m happy too with my 997s-1.

The 996.2 has the smaller dual row IMS bearing which may explode. The 997.1 post 2005 have the larger single row IMS bearing which has more reliable.

Cute dog.
I don't have a Porsche nor a Car, but idk why I already have mod in mind for a car that I don't own.
Don't break the car Sameer! 😅
his “911” logo has broken
Nen den yaptınız 🤞🤞🤞
So it's a pure mechanical feel car huh!
Yes, except for electronic throttle. You need to back to the 996.1 for that.

Cayenne is not a real Porsche. It‘s a VW/Audi with a Porsche Badge on it..

Once Porsche accepted their brand in a car...then it is their car!
Man apparently he has 166 comments on this channel and they're all pretty much the same 🤣
