Jamie's explanation of this and the fact that Laurie is basically the watchful protector filled with PTSD and has been prepping for 40 years for Michael's return had just sold me on this. She nails it.

She doesn't play a character. She just shows up and plays herself. They let her get away with it, so she treats the franchise like it's her own property. I have never seen a more vile or repellent actress...
You can see that the movie and the role changed Jamie's life and helped her to become the badass woman she is today! It's so nice that she has Halloween in her heart. Can't wait to see the new one!
This interview, and what Curtis says about her character going into the new movie, is better than any trailer or preview they’ve made. I didn’t think I could _be_ more excited about this movie. That’s how good this was.
Joseph Charles i agree ! movie already looks amazing ! but hearing her explanation of what laurie went through after 1978 just makes it so much better ! dont think the trailers really show what she explained, which they shouldve 💞🤗cant waittt 6 days after my bday its coming out 😁
Joseph Charles this is going to be the best sequel to the 1978 ever no sibling bull shit, no curse bull shit, no daughter bull shit, no Laurie dying in a car accident bull shit, no Laurie actually decapitating a medic bull shit NONE OF IT AND I AM LIVING
This is a phenomenal perspective on Laurie. Very in-depth and insightful. I have to be honest, I was never huge on Laurie. I always thought she just ran and defended herself. She was literally the final girl. But I saw the new trailer and it blew me away. I immediately became a fan of Laurie and got the new Fright-Rags shirt for the new film because this is the Laurie I’ve always wanted. I hope more people watch this. This is the type of stuff that makes people look at horror as cinematic art than cheap thrills. It’s powerful. Can’t wait for the film!
I think the ending was beautiful. And not just because she started to cry, but the way she started to cry. And the reason why. I mean in that moment...you see just how much this character really means to her. Along with listening to all of the other profound things she said before the tears came...
I personally am thrilled that they took out the brother/sister plot, merely because the story became very convoluted, and to this day it doesn't make any sense why Michael was so hellbent in killing off his family members. Particularly in Halloween 4-6 with him chasing around his niece. Stupid. So yes, removing that angle and focusing on Michael being nothing but a complicated psychopath, and psychopaths do kill without reason or explanation, is far more scarier than Michael saying once again, "I need to find Laurie and finish her off." It would be H20 all over again. So good move, Blumhouse.
I agree with you 100%. The original movie was terrifying because Michael attacked people randomly. No-one's safe and it could happen to anyone. Plus, when Michael was chasing his family movie after another, it became repetitive. I'm happy that they removed the sibling storyline which didn't make any sense. The original movie is the best in the Halloween franchise. Also, right up there is Halloween (2018).
This interview got me more excited for movie of how she explain so perfection 1978 version, 2018 of today, and other Halloween movie don’t existed at all.
I love her passion and love for Laurie’s character. Some other young actress would see a similar role as a simple trampoline for a higher chance in the industry, but she totally embraces hers.
Love hearing Jamie talk about Laurie Strode. How her life and everything she had was destroyed in one night. And there was no support. Had to deal the best way she knew how. Makes Laurie a good, fleshed out character.
she's the realest. Looks amazing still. I could listen to her talk for a long time. I think this halloween is going to be number 1 when it opens. Damn their cemening the legacy. Carpenter still alive, and probably still doing the music too. Shit's going to be Epic

I love Jamie Lee Curtis! Great interview Part 1 & Part 2 on the Halloween movie 1978 and 2018. What did she say at the end, the last word in part 2 interview before she started to almost cry? I felt the feels. I wish I could meet her. So happy she survived all that her life gave her to deal with. I've grew up watching Halloween and I'm 50 now and saw the 2018 Halloween movie. It was GREAT still scared the shit out of me and made me laugh too. Everyone should believe in the Boogieman!! Fantastic performance Jamie Lee Curtis did in the movie. The house/compound she was living in was very well thought out. Loved it. I am buying the movie when it comes out to match my 1978 Halloween movie. Jamie you rock!!
I love love love this. I can listen to Jamie talk about Halloween (amongst other things of course) for hours and hours. it’s calming, informative, refreshing, interesting, and necessary.
Just wanted to mention that< this woman is such a great actor/actress and would love to meet her one day... Love the work she has done, will do and shall keep on doing, thanks Thanks Jamie Lee Curtis, your fan always and forever...
JaKBaLL TV -- Probably how Laurie's parents handled the situation after that night. She was the Daughter of Strode Realty, and her Father was the one trying to sell The Myers House that day, so, she and the family were known people in Haddonfield. I imagine, Ben Tramer must have shown some interest in her after that night...also, I imagine she was the most popular patient at the local hospital the night of the murders, w/ a police escort and security outside of her room...I wonder what the football game and Homecoming Dance '78 at Haddonfield High were like the next night...rather sober? I'm certain they'll address her parents' reaction to what happened in the new film...I hope. I have a strong feeling that, sadly, the blonde babysitter in the trailer saves/protects the little boy, but doesn't survive the brutal attack by Michael.
yes!!! i also hope that they say what happen after with her parents, her career/job,social life(well she said many times she didn't have one because of her trauma) etc but yea what kind of parents left their teenage daughter alone all night? like i always thought that was kinda sad that they left Laurie unprotected like that..of course it was for the purpose of the plot but anyway i always wondered how actually laurie's parents were
I hope that is in someway mentioned... Because in Halloween II (if that were still canon) they were involved in the incident that killed Ben Tramer. Or at least that's what people have been saying for years. So the reason why the doctors couldn't get ahold of them was because they died in the crash... So, in this new timeline they should have helped her in some capacity with her PTSD
Michael stole Laurie's virginity that night. Not in a physical manner, but rather in the sense that he destroyed her innocence. The butcher knife is a phallic symbol and was intended to show the male dominance in 70s Society. She was saved by the doctor, who represents the father figure all girls cling to and try to find the rest of their life . Or at least that's what I heard. That is why she is so intent on killing him in the second movie.
Because he loves her. She represents the innocent good girl crush every Boy goes through. In every boy's life is a sweet innocent girl that makes good grades and is pretty. And friendly. But no matter how much you talk to her she you will never go out with you because she is more interested in her school work than boys. Or her parents won't let her go. And even though she dresses modestly and ask nice we fall head over heels in love with her even more so than the popular girls. The forbidden fruit. And I know everyone says that Michael is pure evil, but I believe Michael is pure impulse. Pure want. Michael represents all the urges a boy has. Anger lust greed sloth Wrath, excetera. Carried out to the umpteenth degree. And no one is able to tell him no. Like a spoiled little kid. And that is why Michael Never Kills Laurie. Because he wants her and he can't have her. Wow. I never thought about it this way. Do you think that we could stretch it to say that the original Halloween is a film about assault and victimization and that this new film is about the victim taking back her life and her power?
@@lilpoet27 what if we went a little further down the rabbit hole and I'm just throwing this out as an idea, but what if Lori was the psychopath all along and what if she was somehow controlling Michael and coaxing him to do all these things. I love you Jamie , I can't wait for your performance. Thanks for numbering the "scare intensity" of each scene on your cue cards in 1978. I mean, that's why you rule. By the way, your performance in True Lies is epic.
I think another reason this film will be successful is because it borrows elements from Terminator 2. In H20, Laurie is an alcoholic wreck living in fear of Michael and is unprepared when he returns, which ultimately leads to her downfall in Resurrection. But in this new Halloween movie, Laurie is exactly like Sarah Connor in T2; traumatised, deemed insane, had her kid taken away etc. But she trained every day for years because she KNEW the monster was gonna come back. But this time it's not a killer robot, it's just a killer. T2 is considered bigger and better than the original Terminator, so I feel this new Halloween will enjoy a similar success.
Also, when i first heard they were doing this again i thought "jesus fucking christ,., again?? Theyre gonna make a shitty sequel again? !" But after watching this, im excited. .. she sold me lol
