  • Health care workers worldwide have been complaining of the pain experienced near the ears while wearing N95/FFP2/FFP3 or similar masks. As per current guidelines, these masks are recommended to protect health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic while working on patients and performing aerosol generating procedures.
This problem is solved by using "Ear savers" or "Ear guards". Different ear saver designs are widely available online. After considerable prototyping and testing I settled on this design - This version is a modified version of the ear saver available on www.printforacause.org .
To solve the problem of cost and time involved in 3D printing, I chose a flexible plastic which can be easily mass produced and disinfected.
If you are in Chennai - pickup your free ear savers (limit two per person) at Acharya Dental. True n95 masks don’t have ear loops. They have bands that go around the back of the head. Any suggestions for ear savers for those?
