    Over the years I have watch many Pro's on RUclips, Chris, Mark, Piers and Andy, Peter & Rick. All have good knowledge but just lack that one thing to make them great. Your common sense approach & layman's terms to describe a complex or technical issue using words is unmatched. You are the amateur golfers bible when help is needed.

I'm going to play here in a little while after I get off work, hoping I'll be able to incorporate some of the advice. Three putts kill me.......and it's the six and seven putts that make me want to rage quit lmao.

    I just bought a little putting green thats only 8 foot long because Ive been seeing a lot more golf vids recommended to me and they made me really want to try getting into golf. Ive been putting on it for the past hour and I just hit the ball all over the place and I feel like I dont have control of where im trying to hit it. After only 2 minutes I paused the vid and changed my grip because it was wayyyy off (I was holding it with a lot more of the meat on my hand on the grip) lol and instantly I feel like I actually have control of where the ball is going most of the time. Before when I tried a light put it would go off one way or another now I can hit it more straight.

      Hitting up?
      Extensive in-depth studies have proven that a 1° down attack angle at impact, is most efficient for speed and off line control which helps to eliminate skid and inconsistencies.

My PT says that is not abnormal as muscles get retrained, and your optical nerve cannot connect to what you see vs what you feel....crazy! But this video, in its simplicity, focusing on fundamentals and about 500 practice putts from 3' to 6' in should do the trick! Thanks Clay!

    Now to putt that into practice! 17 handicapper and putting is ruining my rounds, 40+ some rounds, really need to sort this out. I find that I pull short putts left of the hole a lot, I think that grip set up will help stop the slight face rotation.

    I never thought of hitting the ball with the upward part of the swing to add top spin to keep it rolling. I just assumed you wanted the ball mostly in the middle towards the back a bit to keep it down on the ground.
    Will definitely try putting the ball slightly forward so the back of the ball is center of my body.
    And will try the technique you mentioned about keeping the putter closer to the ground.
    Thanks for the information.

    • @apaulmcdonough2170
      @apaulmcdonough2170 2 года назад

      While you do want an Upward Angle of Attack at Impact, you also want to be Delofting the Face at the Same Time.
      A Putter usually has about 4° of Static Loft, however you want to Impact the Ball at about 1.5° of Loft while still having the Upward Angle of Attack.

    Clay, I know this video is 3 years old now, but I'm hoping you see this...
    I've gone from a massive slice to a 290 yard draw on my drives
    My irons are improving and getting distances locked in
    Your videos have helped me a ton
    I'm moving my focus to putting now...
    In terms of distance control in putting...do you draw the putter back further and maintain the same stroke speed for longer putts?
    Is the stroke always the same speed or do you increase the speed of the stroke for a longer putt?
    I’ve heard you should draw the putter back further than you follow through the ball?
    I need to be able to get these 30 foot putts to be close and eliminate 3 putts... I had an eagle putt and left with par yesterday!

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад

      Sounds good Aaron. In order to putt the ball further, it has to have more speed. If you hit the ball with the same speed it will go the same distance all things equal. Do try to keep the tempo of the stroke the same for short and long putts. Your follow through should actually be longer than your draw back to ensure you accelerate through the putt. Search our channel for drills on putting speed control. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    • @AngelinaB20
      @AngelinaB20 4 года назад

      Top Speed Golf - Clay Ballard
      Keep tempo the same ☑️
      Increase speed on longer putts ☑️
      Is the draw back length (and follow through) supposed to be the same on a 6ft and 30ft putt then?
      Only thing that changes is the speed?
      I'll be checking distance control videos as well
      Thank you!!

    • @apaulmcdonough2170
      @apaulmcdonough2170 2 года назад

      Aaron, About 30 years one of the Golf Magazines did a "Putting Study" that had 50 Pros involved.
      EACH Pro was given an 8 Foot, 16 Foot, and 32 Foot Putt.
      Many measurements were taken for each Pro.
      The one part that I found MOST Interesting was "TheTotal Elasped Time" from Start of Takeaway and then back to Impact was measured.
      For Each Individual Pro, his "Time" was virtually Identical for all 3 Different Length Putts.
      So: While the Length of the Takeaway was Increasing slightly, the Swing Speed was also Increasing as the Putt got Longer.
      Hope this helps, if this does reach you.

    I love everything here except for the kyphosis in the set-up. As we get older that creeps into just about everyone’s set-up but focusing on it can minimize the effects.

    After I get the line and aim the line on my ball to where I want to putt. once I set up to address the ball , set my putter down and line up the line on my putter with the ball. I stand over the putt and it looks like I am aiming way left from where my ball originally was but I can get behind the ball and it is aiming exactly where it supposed to be. Am I standing to close to the ball or maybe have it to far forward in my stance? Thanks

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад +1

      It's possible. I would try standing further and see if the line looks straighter. Also, the more you set up that way the straighter it will look. It may just take some time. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    Hey Clay!
    Just wondering, are you putting 50/50 weight on each foot?

    Hello Clay, watching Tiger's putting from US Open just concluded, I don't see him lifting the putter up slightly on downswing giving it a decent roll with top spin. If he did, probably will make a ton of those short missed putts. Wondering why that's not on his card? Your thoughts?

    i don't get why the elbows are not straight. I'd think that is way more stable and consistent.

      Works for some like Bryson but usually introduces tension and makes freedom of movement more difficult.

    I hv my left hand low for putting. My back stroke on my putting is always shaky . What is the cause ? My back stroke is always not smooth

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад +1

      Sounds like too much tension in the hands. You might be standing too close or too far away. Hard to say without seeing your swing. A good drill is doing some one handed putting to smooth things out.

      Yes, we're still located in the Orlando area. Just in case you were asking, Clay doesn't offer private lessons. He focuses all his time on making videos and running the business. This allows him to help as many people as possible. Robin, our Director of Instruction, does private lessons in the Orlando, FL area.
