"Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer -and often the supreme dissapointment" Ansel Adams. Some of your compositions would have earned his admiration, Craig. The way you connect with landscapes and help others understand the nuances is a delight to watch.
What a fabulous set of images. I really find woodland photography quite challenging; trying to find some order out of nature's chaos. The fog really semmes to help, simplifies the scenes and is so atmospheric. Can't wait for some foggy days now.
Where I live there is myst very often present and I haven't considered these weather circumstances as a photogenic subject at all. Until now as I saw this video! Great images you have there!
I always look forward to another video from you, Craig. I used to wait for holidays to get to all the great scenery around the UK (only to have to share it with other togs), but your skill at finding the right image within the background noise shows that everywhere has its charms. It really is about composition
I enjoy watching, and re-watching your videos - such an eye for composition that I can learn so much from. Thank you for taking the time to make the video(s) and helping amateurs such as myself become better photographers!
Absolutely loved these shots. Wonderful compositions and great colours and atmosphere. I thought the music was the perfect choice to add to the mood and feel of each image too.
Another cracking video Craig, I did the same shoot on Wednesday and really enjoyed it in my local woods. It is something I look forward to doing again when the conditions are right.....Joe
Great video and tutorial Craig...loved watching it and probably will watch it several times to absorb all your tips but abive all, enjoy those super moody stills...
I find this photography is relaxing and fun. No distractions, subjects don't have to pose and it's still about the capture. Isn't fog great, but I'll have to remember your tip about the lens cap. I can see that happening to me (one droplet off a tree on the lens)!
Thank you very enjoyable.I live in the Lincolnshire Wolds,it is difficult sometimes to find different subjects. However we have plenty of woods so I am eagerly waiting for some fog and frost!
Glad you made the impromptu video. I just went for a walk in a wooded area and was so disappointed, wonder why I waste my time. Came and watched this and now I have a mental note in my head.. wait for a misty/foggy morning
Really helpful Craig, I'm taking away your tips about slightly over-exposing for the mist and using telephoto, I recently did a mist shoot and found myself having to adjust exposure and crop in post!
Craig many thanks mate for showing us how to take photographs in an area that I struggle with - Love all your work and need to go check out your subscriptions. All the best and thanks again Cheers Jim
Excellent video! You've inspired me to revisit one of my favorite spots along the Savannah River. It seems to always have fog and mist at sunrise but I've always concentrated on the river itself. Time to wander into the woods...
This was just the medicine my camera needed. Every time I've tried to take foggy photos they turn out very noisy. So I'll try the ISO 200 and +1 or so and see if I can get them. I live by a fishing river that is often foggy here in the northwest. Now I'm anxious to try again. So, a BIG thank you. Appreciate it very much
There are people who shoot in similar lighting conditions and then come home, use graduated filter in Lightroom and pump up dehaze slider...Hilarious! Great video! Thanks!
Great pictures !! It would also be great if the sun could break strong and fast enough to cast shades and light rays through the mist without fully evaporating it :)
Nice set of images there Craig ... I really liked the second landscape type image you did (9.37) ... reminds me of those pictures everyone's granny had mounted on their walls :) Sadly misty conditions have been few and far between in my neck of the woods of late ... as has Winter come to think of it :(
Really nice images, thank you for sharing them! I did notice that almost all of the images were taken at eye level, but most of the interesting colors and textures are much closer to the ground. There is some beautiful green moss on the tree roots, for example. Bring something to keep you dry if you sit or kneel.
I agree with the previous guy,,,l love photography, but for some strange reason I always find it difficult to notice a Motiv that's more or less staring me in the face,,,simply just amazing, you make the videos more interesting because of your narrative way,,,,,furthermore best of luck and fun with the video making👍
Great video as usual, we met you many years a go at an art fair in Addingham you had some cracking panorama's, I think you took them with an Xpan, keep up the good work.
Thank you Craig, I enjoyed your video. I'm rather envious of the type of woods you have in Britain as in NZ its all overgrown "bush" and a massive tangle that is most often impossible to make sense of in camera. I am very interested to know the music you used for this video it was beautiful... if you don't mind sharing that is :-)
Thanks Craig for another superb video. I really am enjoying your laid back approach. This video is quite beautiful with the mists. I am wondering if you are using an L bracket on your camera, you seem to be quick in changing from landscape mode to vertical. Can you explain please. Many thanks . Gill
Once again a wonderful tutorial Craig, currently down in the Mourne Mountains having a pint of guinness and thoroughly enjoying your show. And guess what ! There is to be thick fog tomorrow morning. So its a win, win. One question for you is it still very important to Expose To The Right in these conditions ( ETTR) ???
with all that mist how do you keep your lens clear and dry on this type of a shoot ? do you do anything to it or just blow off any moisture to keep it dry ? i try and minimise any wiping and usually only carry a blower with me for dust
Loved the video. I was wondering about the tripod and head setup you were using, it looks as if you have an extension off to the side for maybe a flash or something.
Thanks for the video. Question: What do I do about mist on my lens or filter in fog? Do you use "anti-fog" wipes? Is it a constant battle to keep it clean? Thanks.
Is not easier to use Auto Exp Bracketing? with 3-5 pics and + - 1 or 2 stops? For beginners, as is needed to be fast in settings when deals with fog... just asking...
Great video, Craig. Really nice shots. I've got a few months until winter, so I've got plenty of time to plan a shoot like this. Once again, you've inspired me....like all your videos do ! 😉
I enjoy this type of photography a lot but I have a lot of difficulty seeing the scene when there is no fog or mist and then imagining it with so that I know where to go. Seems each time I find the right conditions, I'm there without my camera so I am trying to be a little more deliberate in my excursions. Do you scout locations ahead of time and wait for the foggy day or just wait for the foggy day and go find something?
I knew of these woods beforehand and saw the potential of some added mist. I just waited for the right day and headed out. Saves waking up to great conditions and then trying to find somewhere to shoot.
Thank you Craig, still watching in 2021.

there are not many who can create such emotions in their shots. wow!
What a fabulous set of images. I really find woodland photography quite challenging; trying to find some order out of nature's chaos. The fog really semmes to help, simplifies the scenes and is so atmospheric. Can't wait for some foggy days now.
this looks like the woods near houlmbury st mary surrey, fantastic shots also :)
Amazing compositions, taking advantage of nice conditions!
That is a well earned breakfast. thank you for sharing the tips and beautiful pictures.
Brilliant video with tons of great images, nice work as always!
Where I live there is myst very often present and I haven't considered these weather circumstances as a photogenic subject at all. Until now as I saw this video! Great images you have there!
Thank you for this lesson. I am on my way out to take some pictures. I appreciate you.
What an excellent video combining two things I love trees and mist. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Andrew

So true Helen. Glad you liked the video.

Inspirational in every way.
Very educational ...THANKS
Cheers for the video...really enjoy them all..thanx for sharing..
You sir are an inspiration...I'll be visiting my local park in the earlier hours to catch this light!
Absolutely loved these shots. Wonderful compositions and great colours and atmosphere. I thought the music was the perfect choice to add to the mood and feel of each image too.
mcgarnacle21 Many thanks. I appreciate all your comments
Thank you for sharing this, Craig!
My favourite video yet Craig. Great examples of technique and the atmosphere of the day really comes through.
Thanks Paul
Really enjoyed this Vblog, Answered a lot of questions for me for future forrest forays. Excellent as always.. thank you.
Totally enjoyed thx
I'm heading into the woods today and I hope to find some interesting photos. Thank you for the inspiration. Your photos are lovely.
impeccable sense of composition and observation skills. You would undoubtedly have made for a very successful landscape painter circa 17/1800s.
Another cracking video Craig, I did the same shoot on Wednesday and really enjoyed it in my local woods. It is something I look forward to doing again when the conditions are right.....Joe
Excellent video. Thanks!
woodland photography is hard to do you made it look easy. I hope to get better at it for my self. greats shots
Brilliant video with excellent tips. These photos will take anyone into those misty woods.
Thanks for making this video. I recently purchased a dSLR and your videos are really helping me to learn how to use it.
Those frosted ferns would make a nice macro shot
Another really great set of shots. You've inspired me to get out this weekend.
I love your passion greetings from Uruguay
Great video and tutorial Craig...loved watching it and probably will watch it several times to absorb all your tips but abive all, enjoy those super moody stills...
Wow , Just love your street shots , Great Videos too , Cheers .

Another good one! Thanks.
Great video, Craig! I really love the photos you captured, very nice.
This was a great video! Absolutely full of great composition tips and exif information to help! Great job bud!
I enjoyed that, thank you.
Glad you made the impromptu video. I just went for a walk in a wooded area and was so disappointed, wonder why I waste my time. Came and watched this and now I have a mental note in my head.. wait for a misty/foggy morning
My type of photography, well done!

Great video!! Would love to see a video on how you edited your foggy photos!
superb images Craig!
Nice video master craig...thumbs up!
I wish I could visualize shots like you do!
Oh, I like this vlog a lot. Pictures are very nice, so calm. I felt the atmosphere from the wood also :-)
Thanks Peter, I'm glad I managed to capture all the atmosphere of the morning.
Hi Craig, once again you show an uncanny ability to make awesome shots out of the most simple things - truly inspiring to us amateurs :)
Very kind Ian. I hope it helps with your future photography
Nice place. Nice images.
You are a master!

Very nice, thank you
Thank you, this was great. I can't wait to try something similiar. Opps, snow came early here in Minnesota.
Hi I know both those woods! Funny how you can identify a wood by a couple of trees. Yet I can’t remember people’s faces, great tips!
There are people who shoot in similar lighting conditions and then come home, use graduated filter in Lightroom and pump up dehaze slider...Hilarious! Great video! Thanks!
Thanks Craig, came here from your Long exposure ones which I also enjoyed. Nice presentation skills.
Thank you very much
Good work Craig, I find this kind of photography quite difficult, but some lovely shots there.
Thanks Matthew. I hope this gave you a few tips.
Craig lovely images friend.... :)
awesome vid!
Great talent
This videos is so good! I love it complete, thanks for sharing you advices... Very good video! You have a new subscriber... Keep going.
Great pictures !! It would also be great if the sun could break strong and fast enough to cast shades and light rays through the mist without fully evaporating it :)
Great vid and nice photos
I applaud you. I love the one at 8:58.

Good to see you spotting other elements Stuart. All photographers will have their own perspective, so, interesting to hear yours.
Yes, I fully agree. You were there, I wasn't.

Hi Owen. yes I remember. It was the Xpan's bigger cousin, the Fuji GX617. I remember cos I had to lug it around! Thanks for your comment
Thank you Craig, I enjoyed your video. I'm rather envious of the type of woods you have in Britain as in NZ its all overgrown "bush" and a massive tangle that is most often impossible to make sense of in camera.
I am very interested to know the music you used for this video it was beautiful... if you don't mind sharing that is :-)
inspiring my mate
Ended up watching a lot of your videos - very informative for setup composition and locations. Well done. btw - where is this location?
Great video!! How did you do that picture using hipstamatic?
Thanks Craig for another superb video. I really am enjoying your laid back approach. This video is quite beautiful with the mists. I am wondering if you are using an L bracket on your camera, you seem to be quick in changing from landscape mode to vertical. Can you explain please. Many thanks . Gill
Indeed I am Gill. Highly recommend an L bracket for your camera.

Is weather-sealed equipment needed for shots in the mist? I'm looking at the e-m10 miii.
I always like your work i will keep on folling you.
Craig, I was curious why you used 200 ISO since there was no wind and shutter speed didn't matter if slow.
New subscriber great channel!
Lord of the aperture rings. :)
Loved the video. I was wondering about the tripod and head setup you were using, it looks as if you have an extension off to the side for maybe a flash or something.
Manfrotto 055 + Arca Swiss Z1. The extension is just an arm for my vlogging camera.
THANKS
My xpan would do a nice photo!
Thanks for the video. Question: What do I do about mist on my lens or filter in fog? Do you use "anti-fog" wipes? Is it a constant battle to keep it clean? Thanks.
Paul Phillips I've never really had a problem like that and find a normal lens cloth clears any fogging on filters or lens element
Thanks kindly for your help.
Is not easier to use Auto Exp Bracketing? with 3-5 pics and + - 1 or 2 stops? For beginners, as is needed to be fast in settings when deals with fog... just asking...

Thanks Geoff. You'll have to watch my videos in reverse order, so you get the summer ones now!
What exact NF jacket is that?

A pano shot would look impressive?
